Hey guys I have recently run unto a problem with receiving and sending MMS messages on my phone. I use handcent and also have a rooted phone running VirusRom B4. The issue started a few days ago, and I can't seem to find a fix for it. I also tried downloading the MMS messages using the stock messaging app and the only thing the MMS say is that it's downloading in both but it never downloads.
Note: I had already flashed the ROM I am running and everything was still working fine, so I don;t believe that is the problem.
TIA
Do you have 3g data on?
You cannot use wifi to download picture mail, although if you have wifi on and your data 3g on it will still download.

hey guys. im using tzones on my xperia, everything used to work fine as for sending mms and sms. however, i recently flashed a new rom, and the settings were all deleted. i know the settings by heart and all, but now when i try to send an mms through my tmobile gprs connection, it stops at 99% and doesnt pull through. it goes on a loop and keeps trying to resend, but stops at 99%. i am able to recieve pciture messages through the same settings though, so i dont know whats wrong. anyone have any ideas?
ok so i ALWAYS have a problem sending/reciving mms pictures via text thru handcent. I'm NEVER able to send/download mms pictures using my 3g. It only works via wifi. But if the mms started always with 3g, it HANGS and NEVER downloads. so im not even able to view it unless i start it with wifi. how do i fix this?!?1
that depends on the rom cuz ive had probs to with mms send and recieve i use handcent now no probs
When I had handcent on stock evo, I had the same prob. Even the stock message would screw up. But now that I'm rooted, the regular messaging app works like a charm.
Try go sms, out worked pretty well for me.
Sent using my fresh Warm 2.2.
I think this is a problem with android 2.2 and older, and I have seen it worse with sense ROMs. Sprint picture mail will only be delivered through 3g. If you try CM7, and are connected to WiFi you will see 3g turn on when sending or receiving a picture message. So connecting to WiFi will actually stop the download because it turns off mobile data. If you are having a problem while connected to 3g then it could be a ROM or signal problem.
If you Google "Sprint MMS wifi" you will see MMS only works on 3g, not wifi or even 4g.
I have my friends mytouch 4g that I rooted and was working fine with cm7 and all of the sudden he couldn't receive sms or send sms I can't find the problem. I flashed the phone to three different rims and the same thing happens sms still does not work. I was thinking if it was the radio update has anything to do with it since it does not have the latest radio update issued in the month of May. If anybody can help me out please do or if anybody has the similar problem let me know. Thanks.

I know for royal ginger you needed to use go sms to receive picture messages but I believe it was fixed with the update I still use go sms so not sure if it works with the stock message app.
So far I have found APN being
wap.voicestream.com
epc.tmobile.com
internet2.voicestream.com
might want to try those
i use the epc.tmobile.com one
Thanks guys. I will try to change the APN see what happens since I don't have my laptop with me to flash the latest radio on the phone. Funny thing is that it doesn't work on original stock Rom either, no sms or mms on stock messenger app. I flash three different roms before flashing stock Rom. The phone had cm7 and had it on the phone for months then it just stoped receiving and sending sms last Friday. I flashed a sense Rom, a cm7 nightly and even Miui latest Rom and everything works but sms.
I will try the APN setting see what happens now.
Thanks guys.
Changing the APN's did not work. The phone already had epc.T-Mobile.com and still no sms working. I will try changing to a gingerbread radio since the phone still had stock radio.

Here's something; phones can be disabled from being able to receive or send texts (My dad had it forever) it's usually a user enabled thing so you might want to call up tmo and ask about it. other than that I can only see it being the radio.
I have the same problem as the OP, but it only happened after I installed MIUI. (OFFICIAL MIUI.us 1.11.11:: ||demonspeedMOD INSIDE||)
I've been on Stock Sense and CM7 for almost a year now, and after I installed MIUI, I can't receive MMS or SMS anymore. I haven't tried going back to CM7, but I'll post if that fixes anything.
The weird thing is that my MMS and SMS in MIUI was working for the first day or two, and then all of a sudden it stopped. I can still send SMS and MMS, but I cannot receive them.
I have the latest radios and a kernel functional for the ROM, but everything is functional except for the MMS and SMS.
Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated.
11/21 UPDATE: Well I just tried using a 3rd party SMS/MMS app (Go SMS) and it works like a charm. Both SMS and MMS work perfectly.
Glad everything is working now. I just kinda assumed at first that nobody wanted to talk to me anymore.
2.3.4 HKTW - Rooted
It seems I can't view/download MMS attachments. I can send and receive normal SMS just fine. However, when I receive a MMS, the download button is there, but it just times out and doesn't receive anything.
I've messed with APN's, double checked SMSC. Tried using a different SMS/MMS client (GoSMS), just can't get it to work.
Is anyone else having this issue or have any ideas?
(I'm aware there are multiple threads about people not being able to SEND mms, this problem is not the same)

which flash method did you use to install 2.3.4. there seems to be alot more bugs associated with the cwm method, than flashing via fastboot. I have not experienced any problems with mms on 2.3.4.
Is your mobile data on? You must have mobile data on, NOT wifi or anything. You probably do, but this happened to me once and I realized I had a widget that turned data off haha. Hope this helps! If it doesn't, maybe try looking around to do the cleanest install possible of 2.3.4 and see if it helps that (and any other bugs you might have)
Also, you didn't mention, can you send MMS? You just said you can send/receive SMS and can't receive MMS, but what about your sending?
I originally tried the CWM flash, but got nothing but boot loops. So, I then flashed a fresh 1.8.3 SBF and flashed 2.3.4 via fastboot.

Mobile data is on. I can use data via 3G. And, it doesn't appear that I can send MMS either.

I see, sorry that didn't help. I'm not sure what else could be the problem so I'm no longer able to help much...just to cover the basics, have you tried rebooting? Are you using the stock app (other than when you tried GoSMS to test the problem)? Even if data is on, are you actually in a 3G area (i.e. can you use the browser, download apps, etc.)?

I've rebooted several times throughout the day. I can use the 3g connection just fine for web browsing and using the market.
i had this issue too, thats why i am back on froyo.
Ok ever since a couple days ago i cant get mms to send if my wifi is turned on. It sends when the data is connected but not wifi? This has never happened before in the two years or so ive been using gosms. Im actually having issues with the stock and other messaging apps. Anybody have any ideas? Im running force 2.3 w newest kt kernel and everything was perfect two days ago. No settings changed either
I've been having similar issues. But for some reason, I can't receive mms over airwave and I can't send them at all but can receive them when I'm out in town.
Worse part about it is that Sprint can't fix it either. Blah.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I cannot receive mms while on wifi. Any ideas?
