Low internal storage !! despite sd extention & Apps2 sd !!! - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

hey everyone
I have a little problem here. I am using a nand rom named hyperdroid gbx v3 and initially I had 270 MB of internal storage during the first startup .
I have moved majority of my apps to sd excluding a few apps that require phone memory.
Now my internal storage is full even after deleting the unnecessary stuff.
»»» I dont want to loose all my apps and settings .
Please can anyone help me with this ?
Is there any solution to increase internal memory in a NAND rom ??
Thank s in advance !

That rom has a2sd+ meaning if you set up an ext partition on your SD card, the rom will automatically put apps there, and treat it as internal storage (though the system will not show it on the available storage screen)
When you have manually chosen to move an app to SD, you are actually moving it to the fat32 partition.
So, set up the ext partition (can do it through cwm, backup your fat32 first, the SD will be wiped) then copy back all the fat32 stuff to the fresh sd, boot, and move all your manually moved apps back to the internal memory and they should be moved to the ext.
(Though if it were me I'd set up the ext, and reflash the rom,, start over.
Also, when you instal an app, 10 Meg, say, your reported internal memory will drop 10mb, but will go back up when you next reboot.
As for keeping your data and such, if you do a backup in cwm first(which is saved to SD, make sure you copy it to PC before you start formatting the SD card) then after you flash the rom again you can use cwm selective restore to restore just the data partition.(but see if it works without a fresh flash first )

That helped me..

how to get more internal storage?

hi
i have installed NexusHD2 froyo nand rom, but i am running out of storage, so i can't install more apps. How can i install the rom with more internal storage. ?
Well you can install App2SD from the market and move some of the apps/data to your SD card.
Alternativley you may be able to mod your rom in some way to use App2SD+ which means that apps/data is automatically moved to a partition on your SD card.
Or if you can enable Data2SD you can use the same partition as a extension to you internal memory which is much better.
but i have tried to move nearly all apps to the sd card but still i only have 30 mb left

[Q] App2SD+ question

Hey,
Yh, I know: another app2sd+ question...
Tried using the search button, but did not find what I was searching for
I'm using the TyphooN CyanogenMod7 RC2 v2.5.5 ROM on my HD2 and was running low on internal memomy and used to send apps to my sd card, but some wouldn't not work and my internal memomery was low on memory.
So I decided to partition my 8GB scandisk sd card:
6.7 gb FAT32 en 800mb ext2
After I did that, I used a clean instal of TyphooN CyanogenMod ROM and everyhting works .
When I go to applications and then applications managing, I see that my internal memory is just 244 mb and my external memory 6.5 gb.
But what I don't understand :
Who do I move downloaded applications from my phone to the ext2 partition on my sd card instead on the fat32 partition ?
Does this (moving to ext2 partition) happen automatically when I download apps and move them to the SD card ?
The ext partition is considered internal, so if you manually move an app to the SD card, it will go from the ext partition to the fat partition and many wont work. When you have an ext partition you don't need to do anything. The rom will use the ext itself.
When you look at internal memory size it wont show the ext space, only the actual internal space. Say you instal a ten Meg app, that figure goes down ten even though its installed to ext, but it will go back up ten next reboot.
Thank you very much !
That was very clear, didn't find this somewhere else

games won't start from sdcard

there is some rom (like typhoon cyanogenmod) that doesn't allow to start 90% of games from sdcard
there is a solution for that? the internal memory space is so low and there are games that need 20+ mb of space
Use A2SD+ feature and move the games to the phone memory.
some games just don't work when installed on your sd card
When you use a rom that supports the ext partition, DO NOT choose to install to card, and do not use app manager to move it to the card, It all happens automatically, it will say its on the phone but will be on the SD in the ext part.

how do it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12433831#post12433831
for this for example?
thats the rom im using, and i never have to do anything, it automatically puts apps on the ext partition of the sd card.
If you haven't set up your sd card ext yet, you need to do that first. you can do it from within CWM, or there are several threads 'how to partition your card'. Dont forget to back up your sd card contents first, , creating teh ext partition will wipe your card.
I would recommend you perform a clean install after you have partitioned your sd card.
This problem is solved in the new version of hyperdroid cm7 ROM
it's true?

[Q] Rom recognized sd partition as internal memory

Hello everyone! I installed the Srom 2.2.1 V3 earlier. Everything is working very good and stable. But i noticed a problem. When i was on 2.1, i installed link2sd to have my apps on the sd. So i partitioned my sd card. When i installed the new rom today, i didn't do anything to the sd card, and when i started to install applications i saw that they were going to the ext2 partition, despite the fact that they were marked as installed on phone memory. Then i tried the option "move to sd" (through application manager) and the apps moved to another location of the sd card. So what can i do to use my phone memory? (which has 180MB free space!)
Thank you very much in advance!
delete and format the ext partition in SDcard
If i backup the apps that are installed there using titanium, and then after formatting the sd i restore them, will they be installed on the internal memory, or will there be any problems?
1st you need to use minitool partition checking is it your SDcard creat a ext2 partition. if you just format the sdcard it doesn't mean delete your ext2 partition. so that after you update to 2.2 ROM, is still will recognized ext2 partition as your system storage
P/S sorry my bad English.
I've just deleted the partition and formatted the whole sd card. Then i wiped cache and did a factory reset because i had some install issues. So ext2+android 2.2 don't get along well!!! Thank you for your interest and replies

[Q] SD card

Hi guys, so I backed up my sd card and went on a little quest. Never knew what this did so tried it out, went onto clockwork and did an sd partition of 1024mb. Turned phone on sd card worked fine, tried installing a big game but still it said not enough space when there is 2.5gb empty on sd card. So that failed I went onto MAGLDR and onto services and cleared sd partition. Now I turn phone on and it says no sd card and prompts me to format it on status bar, but then it still doesn't work. Tried mounting it via usb but still the sd card is not showing up. Has my sd card corrupted? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also some instructions on how to properly install apps 2 sd, as just moving to the sd card on settings doesn't fully move the app, some of it still remains in the internal and after installing 50+ apps it comes down to 20mb internal memory and says I have no more internal space.
Regards

if a rom supports a2sd (typhoon, for example,) you do not have to do anything, it will automatically use an ext partition if it finds one.
If you choose 'move to sd card' for an app, it will be REMOVED from the ext partition, and placed on the fat32 partition (where it may not work), so DO NOT choose 'move to sd', all your apps should be set to internal, and the rom will put them in the ext partition.

Well, i would start with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool to format the sd card back to original. Then start from there.

And @samsamuel wouldnt he benefit more from data2ext? From my experiences, that puts EVERYTHING on the ext partition. just puting my two cents in, (its about all i got xP )

Depends on what your needs are, .,,, running everything from the SD means much of the nand is unused, what's the point of that? Typhoon for instance,, 150mb system, say 20mb for cwm and boot, that's (round up) 200mb used out of 512,, nothing is gonna use the other 300mb, so might as well let the data use it.
Right I'm running this ice ROM off the nand: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441462
[22-04-12][ROM] Unofficial AOKP for HD2 [Build 33][4.0.4][tytung_ics_r1]
It does say apps2sd is possible on thread op, so would I just partition my SD card on clockwork to 1024mb then just install apps without moving them to SD manually? Is that really it?

True, thats why i dont use either, i have the Tmous version so i ihave about 760 mb of unused nand. Only way id prolly use a partition is if i got a lot of bad blocks, but i only have about 5 bad blocks right now in just my data partition.

Yes, yes it is just partition sd card using minitool partition or disk utility(linux) and you should be good, i dont believe you have to reinstall the ROM either because apps2sd is an init.d script which gets ran upon boot.
