Hey there hmm ive noticed a small bug I just wanted to know if its happening to me or its happening to everyone
Whenever I arrange the apps according to my preference in the app drawer the next time I restart my phone the apps go back to their initial position and I have to keep arranging them over and over again...is this happening to anyone else if yes does anyone know the solution cuz its hectic to keep arranging so many apps over and over again

yeah it's a known problem i sort them by most used and the problem is gone... just forget the personalized arangement for now and wait for the new update.
Trying a different launcher solved the problem for me. Using Go launcher EX. But using adw or launcher pro will have the same effect
I want the se launcher only ive tried many 3rd party launchers but I feel comfortable with the se stock launcher looks like ill have to wait for the update coming up

I've solved this problem by moving the apps to the phone memory.

I should clarify.. "by moving the troublesome apps that seem to relocate to their original locations to internal storage". I still have ~120 megs free.

I wanted to keep the se launcher too. But i noticed problems with the se launcher other than the misplaced apps. Also SE is not guaranteed to fix this specific problem in the updates. After rooting, removing bloat and installing Go launcher all the problems i noticed disappeared. Looks awesome too
the update which release today fix the problem~

Anyone care to weigh in on their experiences?
I decided to go an make this a list of Blur-less ROMS with links. While most of these have homes other than XDA, I tried to put both the XDA thread link and the "home" link.
Since we are discussing here... I always wanted to know what was the reason you could not remove BLUR??
I mean.. I know the phone wouldn't boot if you removed it WITHOUT a acceptable replacement.
Like I know I removed HTC Sense UI back in the before time and my phone boot looped because I didn't have a another Launcher to replace it with... could this be the same thing?? Could we remove BLUR apps as long as we have a acceptable replacement??
EX. Remove Blur Dialer and replace with Dialer One...or remove Blur Home and replace with LauncherPro....

I have blur home removed and replaced with launcher pro. Do at your own risk though. I know nothing of any other changes that are ok as of yet. I haven't gotten that far.

I'm personally on RubixFocused 0.5 and think it's just great. But I would like to know if some of the others would be worth trying, or if they are all more or less the same.
I know of these ROMS:
1 - Tranquility (Are all of the current ROMS based off of this one?)
2 - Rubix
3 - zapX (Tempted to try this one just because of the name )
4 - Apex

Nice question.
To me the Theme/Rom's do seem very similar. They for the most part delete or freeze a lot of the "blur" packages.
The statement by most chefs is "It's faster". OK how much faster then a 2.2 OTA,rooted, 928Droid themed phone???
Is the boot time "way" faster .Do apps activate in split seconds???
EDIT: Flash Fixed
I hesitate to try the Theme/Roms because most seem to have glitches like "Flash not fully functioning so that I can view weather and radar maps ,as an example.
Zapx does peak my interest though....
I've said it in 2 other forums. The zapX rom is awesome. Its the fastest I've used and I have had just about all of them. To me its about how fast everything reacts. From opening the app drawer, tilting the phone, to activating the camera, which you all know typically takes 4 or 5 seconds. With zapX all of it is almost instantaneous. That's my 2 cents for what its worth.
And by the way. I've had no problems with flash on zapX, only issue was with weatherbug and it was fixed by the creator within a day...
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I prefer ApeX. Nearly 100% AOSP. It's the closest thing yet..
I just went from zapX to Apex, to me Apex is snappier, and boots up faster.
they are all pretty much the same but zapX seems to be a little slower than the rest for some reason.
You know you can optimize your apks with xUltimate and essentially your stock ota will be just as snappy.
Add a lil MinFree love... and BOOM!!

Yeah, if you pay nearly five bucks for it and I'm poor, spent all my money on the DX, lol. The free version will run the batch restore but you have to click "Install" and the "Done" for each and every app...it would be easier to write down all my apps and settings on a piece of paper than F with that, lol.

I just got my droid 2 in the mail today and I'm disappointed, to say the least...first off I'm comin over from tmobile where I've had nearly every phone they have released over the last 2 years. The first thing I thought when I booted this droid 2 was how familiar evrything looked. Then I realized they put motoblur on it(boo!). So I feel like I'm using a moto cliq again...I thought that since this thing has a 1 ghz processor it would run a lot smoother than the cliq, but that has not been the case. It takes almost 10 seconds for the camera to open which is unacceptable. It hangs up doing the simplest things, such as opening and closing the app drawer. I planned on getting the droid x, but after reading several side by side comparisons, I decided on the 2. I hate to say this but I'm really thinking I made the wrong choice. I believe this to be a nice piece of hardware, just not right for me....
Anyone have any suggestions to make my experience better? I'm open to rooting but only if there is a 100% fully functional rom out there...my last tmobile phone is a vibrant and I don't know if you guys are aware of what's gone on over in those threads the last few days, but its been interesting to say the least

Hoax...not sure. But there was suddenly a fully functioning 2.2 rom. Its very nice. Working everything. Takes the vibrant to the next level...I wanted to get away from tmobile for a while and as SOON as I commited to verizon, BAM!! But I have 30 days to send this phone back. I probably will. I installed launcherpro and its very smooth, but I don't like to use a 3rd party app to make my phone work the way I think it should...my vibrant is a trooper...

There are a few great ROM's floating around here that are waaaaay better than stock. I'm running Fission (I really like it!) right now but There's a new one by Matt4542 coming soon that's supposed to be AOSP so check 'em out and flash a few and see if you like it with overclock before you take it back.

Um not sure I can't remember what it's like to not be rooted. lol.
I think you either need to be rooted or use ADB.
As for launcher's I've heard good things about LauncherPro but I use ADW. and Home switcher to set my choice to default (so the home soft key doesn't go back to stock.
You can wireless tether for free but as of yet the only infrastructure mode (as opposed to Ad-hoc) you can get is through the Verizon app but thankfully someone found out how to hack it. (check the Droid 2 Information Directory in Android Development for the D2)
Hey guys, so I rooted and bought one of those overclocking apps from the market. I know that quads and linpack mean nothin to some people, but I like to use them to gauge my own phones performance. I overclocked to 1.2 and my benchmark went from 865 ms to 675. My linpack is almost 17. But, my quads are down to 800! What the hell is that about? Are those overclock apps just crap?

Can you at least read data with apps such as Gallery and Astro File Manager? On my Droid Incredible I can copy pictures and ringtones from my computer directly to the internal memory (emmc), but with the Droid 2 I can only mount the SD Card. This is kinda annoying...I've been searching old threads but haven't found an answer.
I can move them between internal and external sd, but that's a freakin headache. On my vibrant when I mount sd to computer, I get two windows that open and I can transfer directly to internal from pc. I can't believe they (motorola) really give you 8 gigs for apps only. Everything is saved to external by default. Except apps.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Are you serious??? Wow, I'm glad I decided to stay with the Dinc as my main phone. So do you use any particular app for moving stuff between internal and the SD card? Or you do it within an adb shell? I don't see the point of making the internal memory only available for apps...I would never need that many space for apps...I rather use it for music.

I use root explorer personally. Just cus it gives me access to everything. I barely use 100mb for apps so I see no reason to have 8 gigs for apps.

That would be awesome....so I overclocked to 1.45 this morning just to see what my battery life would be like and I notice no difference. Im not buyin this overclock app works as advertised. If my minimum is 400 mhz, there would be more battery used when the phone is sleep. That has been the case with every other phone at least.

Anyone have any tips that I could use to make my Android/Atrix experience better.
Any tips?
*Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Oh sorry, didn't see it. Don't need to swear at me.
Here is my tip from my shallow experience with the phone and android.
1. do factory reset after your phone has been fully charged to 100% for 4hours-ish while its turned off
2. get before update root
3. update to 1.57
4. do the post update root
5. get titanium backup pro and go to the freeze the applications under the safelist.
6. get an launcher (I bought launcherpro plus, but i think just launcherpro is just as good... because the only major perks i've noticed was the launcherpro widgets and widget resizing)
7. freeze the motoblur home(after installing another launcher like lpp)
8. download screengrabber app (it works on rooted phone and I like using it, you may not need a screen capture program)
9. do the webtop mod if you want to try it. you need android sdk first to do adb commands. (I tried it to see how lapdock would feel like and I found it pretty good)
I love launcher pro, as it looks so nice!!! 3d app drawer and home screen flipping animations, and overall so many settings you can customize. (# of app row, column etc)

No need to be so hostile... There has been alot of hate on the forum lately. I know it gets annoying when the new users start asking questions that can be found by searching. But, you have two sensible choices: 1. give them some tips so they know what to search for, or 2. don't reply to thread and let the thread die off...

and if you're feeling real brave??.... You could root the **** out of it and flash gingerblur or gladiatrix or the newest rom greyblur!! Im about to flash greyblur right now!
If you want a gingerbead look to your phone, as well as getting rid of the hideous white notification bar, you should try out GingerBlur, a pseudo-rom for the Atrix.
GrayBlur has also been released, which I'll be trying out shortly.
Get a launcher. If you have the money (15$) I would buy SPB Shell. That is one amazing launcher. Or just get one of the many others like ADW, Launcher Pro, Go Launcher, etc.
If you want to tether (data plan required), go to the dev section to get the tethering APN for mobile hotspot.
Install Tenfar's custom bootstrap recovery. Allows you to flash ROMs.
Install the Amazon App market. A free paid app a day (games too).
And last but not least: check out the themes section. Lots of cool themes and boot images.

Yeah as long as you reinstall amazon appstore all the time with it and I was reading that the appstore is kind of a form of spyware and require too much info from the user.

How do I disable MotoBlur using TiBu?
Never live in the past but always learn from it.
Get GO Launcher EX. It's so much smoother than stock, you'll love it. I just returned to it after using LauncherPro Plus for a few weeks. Features on LauncherPro are great, but it had some stability issues for me, and GO Launcher is MUCH smoother and consistent for me. There are a lot of themes for it as well.
I'm very interested in the Xperia Play, but the limited internal storage memory is a bit of a turnoff. Is there a true solution to avoiding this issue (app2sd?) or will even installing apps on a SD card still leave some data on the internal storage memory.
I'm a bit out of date with Android development since I've been into WebOS. Still plan on buying a Pre 3, but it's tempting to get a Xperia Play as a secondary phone.

I agree, also I'll point out that if you have the device rooted you can use Titanium Backup to do the same thing (I haven't got around to installing the Android SDK to my PC yet). All my Gameloft games etc are <1mb internal. I have loads of games & still running with 165Mb free.
Memory is only a concern if you don't have the know how
As for the Pre 3 I was tempted too cuz I loved all the old PalmOS devices, but I was put off by the fact that they went with a 3.5" screen. Even Apple will be going bigger than this on their next release.
That's not too bad. I might check the phone out soon to make a decision as to if I should get one. I always like having a spare phone just in case something goes wrong with my primary or I go somewhere where I'd like to use one phone over another.
Pre 3 screen is 3.6-inches and I actually don't mind that. I've had a Palm Pre Plus since launch and I've never really been turned off by the screen size. I kinda like the smaller profile of the phone and I'm looking forward to WebOS 3.0. I'm just hoping HP markets WebOS properly to make the platform more attractive to developers.
Trust me it wont be a problem. and like many have said all you have to do is use ADB once and then all your apps are installed on the SD card but even if you dont do that its still plentiful.

If you use adb you can move 95% of your apps to the sd, freeing up HUGE amounts of internal memory. I was on 40mb free before using adb, now I've like an extra 5 or 10 apps since then and have over 180mb free

How could you possibly have 40mb free before?
When I first got my phone last week the remaining memory was like at least 150 - 200mb? I'm running launcher pro now, have all sync and everything switched on, and my remaining RAM is 235MB, remaining INTERNAL STORAGE is 186MB now.
Can titanium backup FREE be used to do everything the paid one does?
everything except batch restore i beleve

I use App 2 SD Pro and it has been working very well. That is why I paid for the pro.
I'm still in the air on the Advanced Task Manager app though. I need to get more into it. I kill the processes and it leaves 3 going. Then a minute later there is about 15 going again. I need to find a permanent stop to a bunch of those apps and figure out how to make them run as needed.
I like to pay for good useful tools.
1) Root phone
2) Install titanium backup
3) Batch move apps to sd card, including unmovable apps
4) Profit
It is as easy as that.

You cannot stop the system apps or the bloat the phone starts itself unless you uninstall them. Task managers work well for apps you have installed yourself but the stuff that keep resarting will keep restarting no matter how many times to kill them (it will drain your battery and possiblale do more damage then good ).
Root and uninstall the crap from the safe apps to remove list. Also titanium backup free version lets you move the unmovable apps to sd such as ashphalt and fifa e.t.c less then 1mb instead of 30mb will help with internal storage
problem is you can't root 2.3.3

I have 2.3.2 still.
But I am nervous about killing my warranty.

If your bootloader is unlocked you can install the rooted 2.3.3 rom which has been confirmed as being succesfully rooted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098736. If the bootloader is locked such as mine you are right and will have to wait for a rooting method to appear.

Rooting does void it. But if you have a locked bootloader you can use SUES to reinstall the software without the root and not even SE would be able to tell.
Thats alright but I refuse to unlock my bootloader guess I have to wait and I'm stuck with bloatware lol
I see a lot about how to root and unlock the Bootloader but don't see anything on why. I know rooting gives you access to removing the bloat. What does unlocking do? And what can I do without restricting myself to one version of gingerbread for life? Like one guy said I don't know where to start.
Use the adb command to set the install location to memory card
adb pm setInstallLocation 2
It solves most of the issue, and gives the option to move 99% of it apps to sdcard. It also installs the future apps directly to the sdcard. Provided u must be on froyo or higher. Rooting or unrooting doesn't really matter with this.

Unlocking means that, when they get round to it, you can install your own custom roms that are specially themed and other improvements like overclocking the processor.
As you rightly said, rooting lets you remove the bloat, which is great. Also, unlocking means you can flash a rooted stock firmware. However I refuse to unlock my bootloader (YET).
You can wait for more sony ericsson updates, or wait for the android devs to make some cool custom ROM that we will eventually install (with unlocked bootloader).
Hey Ladies and Gents,
I've updated my Note3 to the latest Update and installed Scotts Clean Rom 1.5 and it ran great until I started restoring my apps. Once all apps were restored (from the Play store, not from my Titanium BU Archive) the phone started rebooting and was stuck in a loop, couldn't get it back to the homescreen. Googled and found that some folks say "Remove your SD card and turn off the constant Wi-Fi scanning" but that didn't help, so I wiped and re-installed the Rom....all was well...until I restored my Apps again. I don't know which App could be causing this, they're all from the Play Store and all of my apps are Paid Apps (Don't like Ads in my apps so I pay for them if they have a Pay App available). Just wiped again and haven't restored any apps, but rebooted the device myself about 5 times, everything works.
Have any of you ever seen this before? Most of my Apps are Camera and Photo Editing Apps. I'm not going to restore anything because I need my phone work work, so I'll only attach my Personal and Work E-mails to it, but that's not going to fly for long. Apparently the Boot-Looping issue is known http://www.sammobile.com/2013/10/17/some-galaxy-note-3-units-experiencing-boot-loops/
Any ideas ?
Thanks.
Have you tried restoring 1 app at a time to narrow it down?

That'll be my next step....I have over 450 paid apps, so I'm going to weed out the apps that I don't use all the time, and focus on the ones I do use. It will be time consuming.....

LOL...I'm an App-o-holic.
I just downloaded another ROM for the new update, and I'll load all of my apps with that to see if it's isolated by ROM's or Apps. It's a snowy wonderland outside, so there's nothing better to do than play with my phone and figure this out.
Ok....this is odd. I've tried a different ROM and installed ALL of my apps, no issues, no rebooting.....so one of my apps doesn't like to play with Scotts Clean Rom.....hmmmmm. Seeing how there are only two ROM's available that are for the new OTA update, I'm going to stick with this ROM and install Scotts into another slot and then go one by one, and see why/how/which app is not playing nice.
