So with this 7932 BS going around, I'm gonna get myself a usb jig. (Omnia 7)
Question 1:
With the USB Jig, there is no chance of ever bricking the phone as I'll always have the option to get into bootloader mode and put whatever firmware I want on it. Right?
Question 2:
Can I update the bootloader on the Omnia 7 so I don't have to use the jig again to get into bootloader mode (if it's not bricked)? Or will I always need it? I see firmware on samfirmware, but I believe those are just the OS. Could be wrong here.
Question 3:
Is it worth putting another firmware on there if I've already registry unbranded my phone?
Thanx!
1) no idea
2) when you flash a firmware from samfirmware, the download mode gets activated. I.E. you won't need the JIG anymore
3) when you change firmware you'll loose everything on the phone, that means your registry settings will be gone.
I flashed my phone to an earlier unbranded version, chevron unlocked and prevented relocking. Then i just updated my phone to NODO. And i'm still unlocked
As of this moment NODO is not jailbroken. just keep that in mind.
Thanx.
Just read that I could update my bootloader and radio firmware without updating the actual OS firmware. That keeps the settings.
As for NoDo not being jailbroken. Are we thinking the same thing as jailbroken. Cause I'm thinking being able to sideload programs from my PC to the phone, and right now I'm using NoDo, and sideloading programs no problem. I'm using 7390, faulty bootloader isn't letting me upgrade to 7392.

So, I think my phone is a bit bricked at the moment, I have this image of a phone, an exclamation mark, then a computer connected by a row of dots. I can't use links because I'm a new forum member, but you can see an actual picture of this image on the "[STOCK ROM] Odin3 One-Click Downloader" thread by Darkstrider.
I can still get into "download mode" using the keypress and Odin still picks up the device on the COM port.
It had this firmware before I tried flashing it (16Gb model locked to the Three UK network):-
PDA: I9000NEJG2
PHONE: I9000NEJG1
CSC: I9000HCGJF2
The steps leading up to the bricking:-
I was firstly trying to follow the instructions on Darkstriker's 2nd post from his topic " [REF] BIG FAQ Thread! {Flash/Root HOWTO} {ADB&Tutorials} {T&T} [READ BEFORE POSTING!]"
So I got JG5 firmware from a link on the Modaco forums (from the " 22/Jul r3 (JG5) - MoDaCo Custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S with Online Kitchen" topic, the ROM was hosted on coblitz.codeen.org.
Installed the "usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip" drivers from the "USB Driver for Galaxy S and Misc Info" (xda forums) topic. Windows XP picked up and used the drivers in the extracted "03_Swallowtail" folder. It added "Samsung Mobile Modem" and "SAMSUNG USB Composite Device" to Device Manager.
So, I did everything on Darkstriker's guide, added the .pit file, chose the "re-partition" option because I was flashing to JG5. The process got stuck on "File analysis..", waited 20-30mins and it didn't move from this status.
Didn't work, so then I tried some different drivers, I googled and found "I9000_USB_driver.rar" on hotfile.
This time Odin got to the "Do not turn off target!!" status and it didn't move for around 20-30mins.
Restarted my computer, detached and reattached the USB cable, I decided to not use the re-partition option and try again, the status got to "factoryfs.rfs", this time the phone display went blank, which didn't happen before, but again it seemed stuck, nothing happened after waiting 20-30mins. So I aborted and closed Odin.
At this point I just wanted to use the phone to make a call when I notice the image/symbol above that I described at the beginning of this post. Help!
What's the best way to fix this? I spent nearly 2-3hrs trying to flash my phone and now it's half dead! I've nearly run out of mental stamina, but will give it a fresh attack today/tomorrow if someone can offer some suggestions.
Was thinking about trying the "fix" on the "[STOCK ROM] Odin3 One-Click Downloader" topic but not sure if it is only for the Captivate.
Hope you guys can help me out
All I wanted to do was to put the "(ROM Galaxy Europe) Doc's StockRomMod V2 (XWJG5)(deoxed) 30/07/10" ROM on my device, and add the JIT compiler and Flash 10.1 player if possible
Go read the guides from the development area.
It's just too easy and you're making it overcomplicated to yourself.
If you have the connect to pc error logo.. remove battery and then proceed.
1. if you installed kies ever, you already have the needed drivers.
2. start odin and select correct files (pit, code, modem, csc in respective order)
3. put phone in download mode (home + volume down + power)(hold long enough)
4. plug it to computer (odin should say "added")
5. press start (in less than 5 mins you phone should restart and go into special mode where it does some magic and reboot again and your done).
My god Buddy, you are right, I was overcomplicating things, I did it in the exact order you said and now I'm getting the progress bar for the first time.
I'm feeling optomistic now! Thanks dude!
It worked! If I was gay I'd kiss you on the lips! Thanks again buddy, it was stupidly simple after all.

Hi, i have semi bricked my galaxy s which is from the african region, but purchased in dubai. i've managed to cut open a micro usb jack and i can clearly see the pins i need to use, my question is, does the resistor value have to be exactly 301k or it can vary up or down slightly. also instead of using 3 100k resistors can i add up other values as well to make it close to 301k? sorry im noob at this stuff atm but i find such hacking very intriguing. also when i tried it with the resistors that add up to 300k, i join them to pins 4 and 5 with the phone switched off, after 5 seconds it shows the same thing 'phone ! pc'. by which i know all hope is not lost yet.

I did 300k and it worked. 3 x 100k ohm resitors.
Solder just one pin and leave one pin loose.
Connect that micro usb when phone is shut down.
Touch with that loose end to that pin which you did not solder. 4 or 5.
Keep it pressed until phone goes to the download mode.
You can try my jm8 guide.
Section B is for flashing stock 2.1, to get a fresh clean install.
Hi Folks,
Coming to the Point, there are currently 2 methods to get into the Download Mode for phones with 3 buttons disabled without using the Computer.
1. Flash the Bootloaders as directed by Richthofen. This would enable 3 Button Mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201
2. Make this Cheap and Easy Homemade JIG. Plug it into the USB and Voila. Download Mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
I have unbricked my device using the JIG method which worked out pretty well. I had a I9000 International version which got bricked and didn't have the 3 button Mode working. I was able to get into the Download mode using the JIG. During reflashing, I had bricked my device twice and was able to use the JIG to get back to Download mode and start over.
I was just wondering how safe it is to use the Bootloader update over the JIG method. The failure of 3 button mode to work is a big problem when the phone suffers a failed flash. However, even without applying the Bootloader update, the JIG method works which is quite evident.
Hence, I wanted to ask in what terms the Bootloader update is better than the JIG method? My JIG is in my drawer and I am hoping to use it each time my phone is bricked and when I have difficulty in getting to the download mode. I was having mixed thoughts over the Bootloader update, keeping in mind the future updates to bootloader by Samsung may remove my 3 button fix and also the dangers involved in having a failed bootloader flash (No warranty in my case). I just need more suggestions as to why Bootloader update is necessary when the JIG method works and it is lot more safer?
could Anyone bring This Rom I9000JPJPG?
Good Job
Thanks
Just thought i would share my findings. I have been trying to get my T-Mobile UK Omnia 7 into download mode for ages!
The Vol UP, Camera Button, Power button trick did not work.
However i discovered that if you
- Hold the Vol UP button and the Camera Button
- THEN connect the device to your PC via USB
it will power it up and enter the device into Download Mode.
Well i hope that helps some others like it helped me
Regards,
Alan
I still can not update my phone to version 7.0.7392.0
I tried and cant go into download mode
I have to hold vol-up+camera for how long?
Basically what i did was hold the phone in one hand pressing the vol up and camera button. Then simply plugged in my Omnia 7 via USB. It went into download mode all by its self.
I had been trying for months, even just ordered a jig thing off ebay lol
Anyway, i managed to flash the phone down to 7004, then upgrade to 7392. Also make sure you have installed the new drivers off the samsung site (v1.3).
Long story short, i am now happily running Mango, and WOW it's a massive improvement! What ever you do dont Waslh your phone, it causes more issues than good as i found out lol.
That's great news influenceuk. I am also a new T-Mobile Omnia 7 user (great deal @ £15pm), and I had to enter 'download Mode' the hard-way, a little bit of patience and a 300K Ohm resistor from Maplin did the trick. So the method you propose bypasses the USB-Jig antics, that would be awesome.
I'm tempted to flash the blocked bootloader back to confirm your findings.
Yeah chemeng, it worked perfectly for me last night after trying for months!!
I only had to do it cause i walshed my phone, and it was causing issues updating to the mango beta. i will see if i can find the page i found the instructions on
Just looked thought my history, but cant find the exact solution i mention. I did find the XDA Dev guide, which i think i may have mis read... then found my work around.
Some one else should try and see if it works too, hopefully it does.
Sorry but I cant get my phone into dowhload mode with your solution
It seems as if Alan's bootloader was semi-blocked
hey folks thıs worked for me

Well, I used to encounter this problem that cannot access to the download mode and getting error code (8XXXXXXXX) when trying to update the phone via Zune Software. But after trying update via zune few times, I successfully updated my OMNIA 7 to 7392 and got download mode works afterwards.
Same here. Tried to get into Download Mode for hours. I was about to build myself a jig.fortunatley i Tried updating my phone via zune... et voila...zune updated my bootloader and the Rom.
Now im able to get into Download Mode without any problems! I got a Samsung omnia 7 from t-mobile Germany.
Hope this helps...

Bootloader version
Is there anyone who has successfully updated their Omnia 7 from NoDo to 7392 (latest security update) or Mango, with a bootloader version of 4.10.1.9, without using a USB jig?
Thanks,
Karthik
I have tried almost everything, but nothing works, I also have Omnia 7 with 7390 and bootloade 4.10.1.9, I think with this version of bootloader there isn't any other option than usb jig. I even called samsung helpline (they were much less informed than me, so they just told me to bring the phone to service center), does anyone have experience with service center, or is it better to make USB jig and do it at home?
I have three Omina 7 ,they are all 16G type.
First one ,by pressing vol up ,camera and power button can reach the download mode.
Unfortunately, the other two must use a jig to get the download mode.
Hello, I'm having problems rooting my s4 i9505 v4.4.2
I would try and install a different version than the one I had on my phone but this did not go as I thought.
I used Odin v3.07 and try me out, but something went wrong I did not finish what I was doing, and will now cancel all together.
Now comes my problem. When I turn on the phone (after empty battery) comes into download mode. If I use the phone, I only use it in Safe Mode.
Could you be so kind and help me to make my phone back to normal? What do I need to do. I am using android 4.4.2.
My phone must be switched off in mist 15 hours before it turns on "normal" (with all apps) Trying to connect it to Odin again, but what must I do to get your phone back to normal mode?
Excuse my English, but googgle translator is my friend now

flash stock firmware 4.4.2 via odin. you can not downgrade to 4.3 or to 4.2.2 because of the new bootloader
if you want to root go here http://download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip, scroll down and click on CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip. Unzip it and flash it via odin as ap. flash root after you flashed stock 4.4.2 firmware
Hello, and thanks for a answer
I have not installed 4.4.2 on my phone. This version was upgraded by samsung its server. (original) for a good while ago
My phone was put into download mode AFTER I tried to install a different operating system via Odin.
so my question is: How can I disable the download mode on my phone?
( I don`t know how I use Odin ) Who should I choose: Bootloader, PDA, Phone or CSC ?
Best regards from Norway

Good Lord, have mercy....
So, in post #1, you have stated that you used Odin... in post #3 you are telling us that you do not know how to use it...
OK...go here, pick your preferred stock ROM (from 4.2.2 options). It will lead you to download page, which contains a short but good instruction, answering your question what to flash as well.
And, DO NOT interrupt the flashing process.

I know but if the server (I think you mean OTA) updated it to 4.4.2, odin will fail to flash 4.3 or 4.2.2 so download 4.4.2 firmware and flash it via odin as pda.
Go to settings->more tab->Device Information-> Press home + power buttong. it will take screenshot.
plug in usb cable to pc and to galaxy s4
go to internal storage-> screenshots upload it here so we can see which version you have
Hello
Ok .... sorry. I tried using Odin, but could obviously not, since the phone is in download mode.
I do NOT want to install anything. Just want back my old phone as it was. Then again. How do I disable download mode?
Do I need to install anything on the phone.... to get it back to normal startup .... WITHOUT download mode?

IF your phone boots to download mode, it usually means: corrupted update of ROM or not completed update. This means: currently there is no operational ROM on your phone, sorry.
Furthermore, you CANNOT use Odin WITHOUT going to download mode. To use Odin, you MUST set your phone to that status.
Now, going to your situation:
You have two options:
1. when phone is in download mode, download and install Samsung KIES to your PC, connect phone and follow the procedure. It will most lokely download and install the latest firmware available for your phone.
2. Go to mentioned by me earlier page, download manually firmware of your choice, and follow the instructions there.
NO OTHER OPTIONS.
Hello
I have installed KIES, there are no updates available
also .... KIES do not get contact the phone when it is in download mode.( I try that now )
Sorry that I ask, but what is ROM? is the operating system android 4.4.2?
ps: you say: Furthermore, you CANNOT use Odin WITHOUT going to download mode. To use Odin, you MUST set your phone to that status.
I can not connect to Odin when I put my phone in download mode.

1. Yes, ROM is operating system. no, it is not necessarily the 4.4.2 version.
2. Odin shall see your phone if you'll connect it to PC. On PC: start task manager (using Ctrl+alt+Del), go to processes and kill everything with KIES in name. Then start Odin, then connect the phone, wait approx 20-30 secs and make the screenshot from PC. Put it here.
3. I did not asked you to perform the update, but to perform emergency recovery according to this procedure (may slightly vary depending from the KIES version.
However, if the phone is not visible on your PC by KIES and by Odin, it is something wrong more deeply... Connect the phone to PC, go to device manager and take a look if it is visible there (like samsung phone, android phone/device or adb device).
IF your phone is not visible by PC (assuming that the Samsung drivers are installed correctly on your PC, it shall be installed with KIES), you may have to go to the service center as your only available option.
You may try the JTAG option (use Google to look for it), but it is too complicated for newbie, sorry.
PS: sorry, for me it is obvious, but may be not so obvious for you: battery shall be above 60% while starting connection to pc in download mode. I'd recommend you to charge it fully on phone turned off, then start checking connections.
ok
So just to summarize:
You have no idea how to use Odin, yet you decide to flash your phone?
You don't have any backups?? That's the number 1 rule to do.
What rom did you try to flash? Did the flashing succeed? Or didn't you flash any rom, but where you just trying to root it?
Hi all,
So my J7 2017 (SM-J730FZKDLUX) basically soft-bricked itself after an official update. Everything on this phone is stock and I never installed anything suspicious on it either.
The current situation is as follows:
Booting the phone normally doesn't work as it gets stuck on the first Android/Samsung screen.
Recovery and safe modes don't work at all: nothing happens.
Download/Odin mode works.
Samsung Smart Switch says my device is not supported while it's supposed to be...
Samsung Kies does not want to start on my PC and says "Update in progress. Unable to run Kies".
Even though it is still under the standard warranty, I've been told I would have to pay for the screen to be changed since the current screen has a scratch on it...
Since Download mode works, I've tried flashing the phone by following this guide from SAMmobile (https :// www(d0t)sammobile(d0t)com/firmwares/galaxy-j7/SM-J730F/LUX/download/J730FXXU3BRL3/247119/) as well as this guide from updato (https :// updato(d0t)com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=0E6D53429C5B11E89F15FA163EE8F90B).
Both result in Odin getting stuck on the "Initialzation" phase. I've searched on the Internet and people said to remove the SD card (I don't have one in that phone), remove the battery (impossible), use a different USB port (tried all of them), be quick (I click on the "Start" button as soon as the phone is "Added" in Odin), enable Debugging mode (well... I can't boot the phone...), make sure to install the Samsung drivers (done from https :// developer(d0t)samsung(d0t)com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows (official Samsung site), but that didn't change anything), using an older version of Odin (but which am I supposed to use? There are tens of them), make sure that Kies is not running at the same time as Odin (Kies was not even installed at the time), running Odin as admin (this is actually required otherwise it doesn't get passed the "SetupConnection" step unless I'm quick enough), use the original USB cable the phone came with (impossible, it was destroyed by my dog however the cable I'm using fits well in the USB port of phone)...
So what am I doing wrong? What can I do? Please help me!
PS: You'll note that my links are a bit weird, it's because I'm new to xda, sorry about that.

You should use the latest odin (3.13.1) and use an official samsung USB cable if possible. Not all cables (although it fits) are wired the same.
If the problem is hardware related at least you have warranty.
