I was having the issue of wifi doing the connect/instant disconnect loop. Actually had this problem on both a honeycomb from sd ROM and from the CM7 from SD Rom
From stock 1.2 it connected just fine.
signal was excellent, but couldn't connect Tried all the recommended fixes I'd come across on the boards. ie triple check the password key, reboot router, forget all networks and redefine, upgrade firmware on router, reboot forget redefine reboot... For me, this is the solution:
router had WEP encryption 128 bit, channel 11, shared system authentication.
changed it to WEP encryption 128 bit, channel 11, open system authentication.
seems the android rom flavors don't like shared system authentication.
so for anyone else banging their head against a wifi wall, here is another thing to try.

Hi, Does anyone know if the compatibility issues between the SD wi-fi card and Dlink 802.11G/B mixed mode wireless routers/access points has been fixed yet? Namely the DL-624+, DWL-2000AP+, DSL-902, DSL-604 AirG+ family. I have the DWL-2000AP+ and have been trying to get answers out of sandisk and dlink with no joy. Apparently there are problems because the SD card needs to work in B only mode and the dlink kit only supports G only or mixed mode.
Has anyone on here go the SD card working with any of the dlink kit mentioned above and if so what settings do you have to make on the access point and within the SD card drivers?
I would like to get the Magician and the Sandisk SD card but if there are problems with that combination and my wireless access point I with probably go for the Blue Angel.
Cheers
Hi,
There is compatibility issues with SanDisk SDCard Wifi and Dlink Wifi product, no doubt about it. None of these vendors wants to admit that their device is a fault. I can sure you that they have implementation compatibility issues. I have tried Cisco AP with SanDisk without issues and on the other hand tried various notebook Wifi with Dlink AP without problem. One way that I have found get Dlink product to work with SanDisk SDCard Wifi is to do the followings.
IF you have dual antenna AP or Router, you can enable the proprietary speed mode like super G or 4X, otherwise you have to disable it in Dlink.
1) make sure that the Wifi Channel is set to eleven (11).
2) Transmit and receive speed to a max of 11mbit.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Kueh.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Unfortunately still no joy. Set it to use channel 11, speed enhancments turned off. Set to mised mode max speed 11mbps open system no wep or wpa, mac filtering etc. SSID broadcasting turned on. The SD card can see the wireless network, it just times out trying to connect. I've also tried adjusting the preabble from short to long.

I seem to be having a problem connecting to my wireless router.. I can't get an IP. I keep getting a 169.something IP.. I restarted the router, it has the newest available firmware, tried connecting while I was right next to the router, deleted all the references to the IP in the registry.. and then tried all that again with no encryption on the router. Basically everything I could think of. It works after a hard reset or when I flash the ROM with any other rom.. But only connects once.. not more..
Worked with the original ROM (I-Mate JasJam.. Arabic version).. Windows VI Black.. 3 DES and the Testra I-Mate).. Works the first time.. then never after that..
Any suggestions?
That's... odd. Have you tried flashing to the original ROM to see if it still works properly? Also, and this is just a blind guess, is your SSID pure ASCII or do you have Arabic characters in it? I'm not sure that's even allowed in the 802.11 specs, but who knows.
the SSID is pure ASCII.. and I tried flashing back to the original ROM and it's still the same thing..
It's not a router problem either cuz the problems is the same with other routers
What do you mean by "still the same thing" - it still works with the old ROM or it still doesn't work like the other ROMs?
As in still connects the first time but never after that.
When you downgraded to your original ROM, did you downgrade the OS only, or the whole thing? If you downgraded the ExtROM, did you allow the customizations to install from it after hard reset?
If you didn't downgrade the radio, try it. Technically, the radio ROM has nothing to do with wifi, but I think it would be beneficial to have your Hermes as close to its original state as possible when troubleshooting.
What brand of router are you using?
169.254.x.x is APIPA; basically, the DHCP isn't working. Can you confirm that you have enough IP's in the DHCP range? and/or, create a reservation for the MAC address of the phone?
Perhaps you are limiting connections to certain MAC addresses only? or only to 'known' MACs?
He said this is happening with other routers as well, so DHCP range, etc, probably wouldn't apply. Then again, if they're all set up the same way...
Try giving your device a static ip adress, see if that helps.
I downgraded everything and allowed the ExtRoms to be installed. I also tried the Static IP address route but to no avail.
Haven't tried MAC Address allocation yet though..
I realized that after I flash it I test the wifi connection and then install some programs right away.. could one of the apps be causing this?
ISSUE
Every 3 - 5 minutes while browsing, my wifi will "hang" (timeout when trying to access sites). Note: it doesn't disconnect, the wifi icon is still there as if I was connected, it will just timeout any requests.
TEMP FIX
Reconnecting will fix the problem until it occurs in another 3 - 5 minutes.
VERIFICATION
This is not an issue when using my device on my friend's home WIFI connection.
WHAT I'VE TRIED
Updating my Linksys WRT54G Ver. 2.0 router to the latest firmware.
Switching from WEP to WPA (TKIS) encryption.
Trying different wireless frequencies (i.e. different channels)
Manually setting MTU to 1500 for my broadband connection
Resetting router & Modem
Setting a static IP on my phone (only wifi settings I can change on my phone).
COMMENTS
I think switching from WEP to WPA (TKIS) sped up my connection (but didn't fix the hanging). I didn't do enough testing to verify this but I ran 4 speed tests (1 with WEP then 1 with WPA then one with WEP then one with WPA) and in all occasions with WPA (TKIS) encryption my speedtest results were nigh twice as fast as the results when using WEP encryption. Odd...?
This isn't an issue on my laptop when using my WIFI connection, however, that doesn't say much since I likely have a much better receiver in my laptop (an Intel wireless N card) and it's not to say my laptop gets a perfect connection (I can't play Team Fortress 2 on WIFI anymore because of lag spikes - need to play with wired connection), but it just doesn't have this hanging problem.
If anyone has any ideas of other things I could try to get this working I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.
Hey,
Iam wondering, after flashing tomal 8.7, I have the same problem as you with my universal. Did you found any solution?

have you solved the problem?
i have the same same issue with modem-router wifi Sitecom wl
Every 3 - 5 minutes while browsing, my wifi will "hang"
it doesn't disconnect, the wifi icon is still there as if I was connected,
if you had solved can you tell me how fix it?
Bye
Hi,
It looks that I've got the same issue as you have - the connection is still active (at least, the icon shows that), but after a couple of minutes, I cannot access any website.
Did you guys find any solution to this problem?
thank you very much
Ive had that problem with a few routers(i know the answers late, but maybe it will help someone at least). I had to disable the routers firewall. Once that was done, no disconnects. Weird.
After installing the rooted GB leak, I can no longer transfer data on WPA2 protected WiFi access points. I can successfully connect and receive an IP address, but data just doesn't work. All of my apps say that there is no data connection.
I have tried two different access points from 2 different manufacturers and no luck.
Been working fine for me so far. I use 2 different APs with WPA2 (router at home, and i use my laptop as a wifi bridge to my phone while i'm at work via connectify and i have that set up with WPA2 as well).
Possible Suggestions:
-Toggle airplane mode on/off once to have it reset the wireless, or just reboot. See if that helps at all.
-If that does nothing, go into your wifi settings and tell it to forget those wifi networks (long press on the name). My guess is that something got screwed up there.
EDIT: Oh, and i guess i'll just go ahead and suggest the same answer that seems to fix most other GB related issues at the moment: Make sure you did the Wipe/Factory Reset. Could be some incompatible data lingering from the previous install.
Thanks for the suggestions, but I have tried all of the easy stuff already. I even re-sbf'ed (that is a word isn't it?) wiped and re-installed GB. Still no dice...
Same issue here.
Got into work today and could connect with Cisco WA point but no internet.
Changed the security to wep and then internet works fine.
Will check it tonight with my home setup.

I have done all the steps (vendor, radio, bootloader, TWRP all correct) and LineageOS 15.1 boots fine. However, it cannot connect to my home WiFi network.
The reason I went to Custom ROMS is because Google's OTA Oreo update, also had the same problem. So, whatever version of Android Oreo I have, I connect to WiFi, then it goes to a "connecting" state, then "Saved" then "Disabled"! Can someone help me troubleshoot this?! Thanks. If I go back to Android 7.1.2 , WiFi connects fine! This is bizarre. I am using 802.11n with a 300Mbps max BW DLink router.
The error in LogCat is "system_process W/WifiConfigManager: Looking up network with invalid networkId -1"
WiFi Verbose Logging shows "network selection disabled association rejection"
@zetret I went through similar scenario at my Aunt's house. Every time I visited would have to reboot the router. Only then would android Oreo connect. With nougat and that same router no issues. It was older model dlink not even 5ghz connection. If you haven't already try unplugging the router and plugging back in maybe will work for you. Just sucks that Everytime you leave the connection would have to repeat the process. You might have to flash back to android 7.1 until the router gets updated.

I have rebooted the router many times - still the same issue, and the router firmware is up-to-date, it's from last year.
If you're using WEP or WPA security on the router switch it to WPA2

Thanks, but it is already WPA2.
