I've just read on Slashgear.com that (according to a HTC Customer Service representative) several additional languages will be supported (with keyboards!!) in a big HTC Hero update coming this September.
Can anyone confirm this and possibly provide some more information about the update?
Here's some more info: http://www.slashgear.com/htc-hero-update-confirmed-imminent-1852644/
May as well say "where do you live?"

Soo true. It would nice to see all these languages supported.
Just got an email from the danish HTC support, where they say that an update with scandinavian language will be avalible around 4. sept.
Now my problem was the exchange active sync not supporting AD username with spaces...
They say that MAYBE that issue is solve also in the update???
/Psudo
I have voted for Finnish and Swedish
Hebrew
Why no Hebrew support ?
Hi!
My worst scenario is that there will not be a Swedish update for this.
Can someone confirm something that at least gives me any hope what so ever?
The Swedish HTC support can't confirm it yet...
What decides if a device will have lets say the Swedish language, is it how many sold units in that contry or what?
I can get my Nexus One next week,.. which i am seriously considering..
My only concern with US version is the lack of multitouch in default browser, maps, picture gallery..
With european (vodafone) version,.. i would like to ask, what do you think, chances are it will be branded?
I've had HTC Magic before and i've rooted it and installed roms,.. but i don't like doing that very much I thought with nexus one, i won't have to
What would you suggest? Sorry for noob questions

Exactly the same position... But i've brought mine
Chances are that the UK version will be branded and locked to Vodafone are quite high.
As for multitouch, I expect it to appear in roms once the SDK is released. But I can live without it at the moment

Sorry to hijack the thread, but if you root the device, do you loose text messages etc?
I think you should get the US version and root, multitouch will be added soon through ROMs.
And Brent when you unlock the boot loader for the first time you lose everything.
lol who cares about loosing text messages, European version unless it has some hardware differences (e.g. 32a and 32b with htc magic) then couldn't care less - multitouch doesn't worry me at all since I already have it on my magic and it's not that big of a deal if i have it or not the novelty doesn't wow for long and its real uses don't extend much beyond browser photos (maps would be nice). Also Google tends to be more loyal to its American base so I'd expect more long term support such as an upgrade deal when the nexus two comes out or something

If the European version is completely compatible with the American ROMs, I'ld get the European version.
@t4tav: how do you like it so far? And what did you have prior nexus one?

I don't think it will be branded or locked as this model is not what google are going for. Even the phone sold on US T-Mobile contract are unlocked.

I thought the Sim free version is a 'world phone' (well in the place it works)
It's not American or European or Chinese or whatever, but a universal stock ROM?
Or if it isn't - what things on the phone will make it a US rom and how different will it be?
Usually when an operator takes it - they'll flash their softwar eovertop to brand it - so Vodafone may put in their Vodafone 260 shortcuts etc ....but usually they don't customise them a whole lot.
The Nexus One is being sold completely SIM unlocked on any carrier (would assume there will be no branding also), this is one of the big things about the Nexus One, it's being sold by Google directly and not the carriers. Watch the Engadget interview with Eric Tseng, give a great deal of incite into where Google are going.
http://www.engadget.com/video/page/3#player
There is never a branding on any N1,many sources say this.
The hardware of the EU and US Nexus are the same, so you can swwitch ROMs in between.
Multitouch will come to the US Version too, not by google but by the nice guys from cyanogen and modaco or someone else in this forum. In multitouch sensitive apps there are allready working Programs in the Market (Dolphin Browser,...)
I was watching that endadget interview and i like google's move..
It's just i'm still sceptical about vodafone, that's all
And there is also one huge factor called patience If i can install european rom later, why would i wait for european release?
Hope to see some more reviews of you european users.. I still have a few days to make up my mind.
If you want multi-touch in the browser then get the dolphin browser it has multi-touch
Should be interesting because I think that Vodafone UK dont lock their phones, or at least the 5 or 10 that ive had over the past 18months havent been locked.
The iPhone on Voda UK is probably locked down though. :S

Well, i guess since this news came out..:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/11/android-2-1-sdk-now-available-nexus-one-says-geez-finally/
..it shouldn't be too long, before we see some more "good stuff" coming to nexus one?

Anybody know what the point of devicewire.co.uk's purpose is in asking for interest in the N1 from UK customers?
http://www.devicewire.co.uk/google-nexus-one
If the EU phones will be the exact same version as the US one then why not just buy it from google? And, doesn't this go against google's distribution policy?
Hi! I'm going to buy myself a HD2, but the cheapest ones in Norway are the ones with Norwegian menus etc. Quite a lot cheaper tbh. I've had an Xperia X1 untill now, and that was in English, which I liked a bit better than the Norwegian one.
But the question is: Are there any actual pros and cons in having an English version rather than a Norwegian one (or any other language for that matter)? or is it just a preference thing?
I guess it depends on whether you can read/write in either Norwegian or English.
There shouldnt be any difference other than the language.
Okay, so I take it there won't be any difference in the way of installing applications of funkyness in other languages etc?
Then I might just give the Norwegian one a shot after all. Even though English just sounds better in my head ^^
Hi, My dad gifted me a PPC with WM6.1. The brand it's a weird one, no ones knows it and I can't find a ROM for it and I really want to change it. If you tell me what ROM to use, is better. Maybe a spanish or english ROM (because the phone have a portuguese one) and I want to change the language too.
I also don't know how to put the ROMs in the phone, but first I need it.
My phone have this specifications:

It's not an HTC or Samsung, the brand it's now known.
The phone is BAK, model BK-MP12GPS.
EDIT: If it's an HTC, Samsung, LG or whatever, I would search the rom for that phone, but it don't have a known brand, so I put the specificatios for you to tell me if some phone have the same and put the rom of that phone into mine.
I've been seaching on the internet and found that the LG Incite have the same screen resolution (WQVGA 240x400), same RAM and ROM (128mb - 256mb).
I will continue looking for some similar phones. Please tell me something: If I put the LG Incite ROM in my phone, will it work?
You won't get your phone to take an LG ROM. There is more to it than screen size and RAM/ROM.
Looks like your phone is a Brazilian made smartphone.
http://www.bakinternational.com/
At least, they make phones and have similar model #'s. I could not find your specific model # on their site though. Still, it might help you to know where your phone came from. Looks like you might be checking Brazilian forums???
If it is made in Brazil and they export it to other South American countries there MUST be Spanish language ROMs out there.
Good luck.

Thanks for your answers but when you turn on the phone it says BAK INTERNATIONAL JAPAN, so I dont really think they make them in Brazil. The phone was in the page, but with the last update, they deleted.
I've found another site - a Celular Varejista (Cell Phone Retailer) That is all in Portuguese and under BAK they list your device along with other models from the company I linked before.
http://celulares.mercadolivre.com.br/bak/bak-todos-os-modelos/mp12_Qshow_30
Does this look like your device?
If so it sems to belong to a series: MP 10, MP 12, MP 15... The 10 and 15 are still listed on the http://www.bakinternational.com/ site, but the MP 12 is not. Loks like there is no manufacturer's support for your specific model.
Maybe it is a Japanese import into Brazil (???), but I can't find any BAK in Japan.
