I've been using MCCM HD V4.5 for a few days now, and have rebooted multiple times, but I've found my download speeds for apps over wifi are extremely slow. It takes over 15 mins to download even small apps. Is this normal? Also, my Android market has the old look and I would llike to know how to update it if possible.
15 minutes over wi-fi is a bit long for a typical app unless you have a really poor wi-fi signal. I used V4 of this build several months ago and I don't recall having any problems. I switched to builds without HTC Sense because I decided that I prefer the flexibility of the straight Android UI.
I'm not sure about the market app. The build that I use (AmeriCanAndroid) has the new version.
I've managed to update the market, but app downloads are still slow. Odd thing is, they only take around 5 mins to download over wifi on 4shared. I think i might switch to AmeriCanAndroid as well, it looks good. Or possibly Rafdroid, cos I prefer sense.

Im using darkstone's android version on my htc hd2 tmobile 1024mb with 2.12 radio, hspl 3, newest chucky rom gtx lite and every once in a while my phone would freeze up for about 10 secs then resume functioning. This is very annoying and frustrating so i was wondering what can i do to fix this?
mine does it too with a completly different rom..
i think it is because when the screen is off it goes into a "sleep" mode where the cpu gets throttled back to save battery..
when you push the button it takes a few seconds for the cpu to load everything up and resume the phone..
its probably because your loading everything off the sd card and its alot slower then the inernal memory.

this is a known issue on all builds thus far.
try disabling autorotation in display settings. this fixes it for some but not for others (me)

Some people say problem is less when they calibrate g-sensor in winmo before started android
I've had this issue on every build as well. Usually for me it gets worse progressively to the point I have to un-install or add a different build. Thankfully when it happens there's a build that is released that I haven't tried.
mines done the same on all builds tested and I am constantly changing it, but downloading 160MB every 3-4 days is getting a little old... I'm going to look into a faster micro SD card..
I had freezing issues like everyone else but mine was when i restarted the phone at once it loads up it would freeze at the first sync. Other times would be during any game play or any cpu intensive app. i found it to be a combo of things. i realize that the sync freeze was due to the hd2 trying to grab all my 120 emails for the gmail app. so i went and deleted al my emails and it hasn't freeze since. i also disable full weather animation, turn off all unneeded sync like stocks, news, and disable any sense widgets that i did not need, also turn service provider to manual and not auto. My phone hasn't freeze once in 5 days ( fingers crossed) versus 3 or 4 per day before i did this. hope it helps someone

Hello people,
I'm new to the hd2. I'm running chuckyrom lite with shubcraft 2.0 with hastarin's 8.2 kernel and I THINK my radio is 2.15.50.14... But I'm not sure. (how do I check?)
I lose my data connection every minute or so, pretty much crippling the usage of this device.
So far my searching has turned up methods that don't work (toggling airplane mode, etc)
Is there a more stable build I can be using? Or anyway I can reduce the connection drops?

I also have a similar problem. I have a completely stock WinMobile HD2 with the latest 2.15.50.14 also and I'm running DarkStone v3. This is my first Android ROM on the HD2. I've had it for about a week now.
I've ran my N1 for about a year now. I still have it and I'm just playing with the HD2 for now. I get the same drops as you where my service will just stop. A lot of the time my phone still show's full bars for reception. I think I'll set CM settings to give me a readout instead of the bars to see when I loose signal.
Very often when I do YouTube, or enter the Market, or the browser it will lag and get no connection for 30 seconds or more sometimes. Then start working, and occasionally I have to toggle Airplane Mode. But I'd love to be able to get a smooth and stable use out of it.

Hey everyone,
I recently swapped my own X10 for a HTC Desire for a multiutude of reasons I won't go into, but my GF kept her X10 in anticipation of the 2.1 Update. She has updated the phone now, although it did take two hours and kept failing.
Anyway, she is happyish with the phone, but I still feel guilty, as it is so terribly slow, and I recommended the phone to her in the first place.
Anyway onto my question. If anyone has a HTC Desire and an X10, they may have more insight, but basically, the X10, after the update, is really slow.
I have sat my Desire side by side with her X10, and tried to do simple tasks, like go into settings, or load media scape / gallery, or add widgets, etc, and the X10 is sometimes seconds behind the Desire, 5 or 6 seconds behind to add a widget? I am hoping this is due to a bad install of the update but am not sure.
Everything seems to lag, pressing settings, going into the app drawer, loading the messaging app, and it doesnt always take the same amount of time to load things either. Sometimes going into settings comes up instantly, other times it takes up to 5 or 6 seconds. Things just seem to hang for no reason. Even scrolling the app drawer and settings screens up and down seem laggy.
We both have launcher pro installed now too, as I find it to be an amazing launcher, but the X10 with launcher pro is again miles behind speed wise, to the point of, to me anyway, almost unnacceptable lag.
Anyway, I just wondered if anyone, hopefully with both phones too, could advise me. I dont want to advise her to do the update again if it isn't going to help. I am privately hoping it is not the limitations of the X10 that makes Android 2.1 so slow, but just a bad install, but i'm not holding my breath.
Sorry to drone on, and I hope this isnt viewed as too much of a rant or X phone verses Y phone lol.
Thanks
Biff.
Hey,
I used to have a lot of lag in the first week after updating... Its almost all gone now
Heya,
Thanks for the response, and it's a response I was hoping for! Lol. I'll cross my fingers
Biff.
It is a know thing. After a fresh upgrade the first few hours will be laggy but after it goes away. It has to do with the facial recognition plugin. If you have a lot of pictures on your sd card after the upgrade it may take a little longer.
In a few hours you will be fine.
Some say that is related to SD card reading, sould come to normal after a few hours using the phone.
I had the same but in the next morning (8 hours after) It was fine.
EDIT: I can recommend also the jit mod (only step2).

hmmm thats strange, try reflashing?
yes it was indeed laggy for few days....but aft few days and aft installing JIT i think it runs much better than desire
I had the same thing every operation on the phone was laggy and i mean really laggy...i did the update again and i also (with the help of this very forum), removed some apps (after rooting of course) like timescape etc and i also downloaded minfree manager and changed some values in it and now my phone is smoother than ever before!

Hello. I've been getting really slow market downloading as of late even with wifi on it crawls. Can take up to two minutes to download 1mb. It use to be way faster than this a while back sadly this had been going on for a while. I also have a rooted Nook Color and it downloads 7mb apps in 15 seconds. Any suggestions to fix my market download speed on my Evo?
Found a fix. It may have been I had market updater on freeze using titanium backup trying to keep black market on Myn's warm Rom. Well it didn't stay black anyway so I guess I just forgot about it. I defrost it and everything seems to be working now after market updated in the background. Also made my 3g faster than ever by using ad free and switch my custom ip to 0.0.0.0.
Thanks everyone who atleast looked be sure to make your 3g speeds faster with that tip if you haven't.
i have had similar issue. sometimes market downloads slow, sometimes it doesnt. and sometimes when i copy files to phone from pc it takes forever, sometimes it doesnt. just depends on how the phone wants to act i guess lol
I have a Nook color wiped with a full version of the last stable release of CM7. It works well, but with that irritating problem of wifi reliability.
I would like to upgrade to CM10.1. The goal is to use the Nook as a development platform, while still sharing it with my wife to actually read books.
Here is the questions: Is release candidate two (RC2) of Cyanogenmod 10.1 stable enough on the Nook for daily use? I want the latest and greatest, but I don't have the time to constantly be chasing down problems, nor do I want my wife to kill me because her "book reader" has become unstable.
Do I hold out for RC3, wait for a stable release, or jump right in with RC2?
All comments and suggestions are welcome.
While CM10/4.1 was promising, CM10.1/4.2 has been a pain.
The interface seems all weird (it use a Phone interface instead of Tablet), and the performance makes the Nook Color nearly unusable. I'm talking single-digit framerates and choppy scrolling.
Personally, I found PA to be smoothest I tried... surprisingly smooth for the NC.
YMMV
I don't know about the others, I lost WiFi connections once every 2-3 hours using the most recent builds including rc2.
The fix is just turning the eifi off and on again.
However I never got sod so it is acceptable for me.
Thanks for the info guys, but the question is still up in the air. What condition is CM10 in for the nook? The wifi issues in CM7 make it useless as a connected device anywhere except with my home router (go figure). Is anyone using CM10 as their daily driver, and if so what build are you using, and where would you place the frustration level on a scale from one to 10?

I'm using CM10.1, RC2, and I'm having only very minor issues that are probably due to the ancient hardware (Flipboard sometimes freezes on me after 10 minutes, and browsers are slow, except for the very light Naked Browser). Everything I need works great, including wifi. I took it on a three week business trip to South America recently and only used my laptop once, doing email every day with no hiccups. I think it helps to tweak some settings, and use the Seeder app. Scrolling isn't butter smooth, but it's very good. Frustration level close to 0. Go figure.
I used CM10.1 for few months, it worked very good. I would say my frustration level maybe 1, and pretty much nothing compared to the satisfaction. I liked the key board, wifi connection, HD video play (for example in youtube), Browser and new UI in CM10.1 over 7.2.
recently I upgraded to CM10.1 RC4. I also did the following things to make it better. after boot up, it still has close to 150 MB memory.
1. tablet UI by autopatcher.
2. V6 SuperCharger
3. ES Task Manager to disable some startup services like Email, Email Exchange and etc.
4. Seeder.
The result is very good. It runs very smooth.
Only frustration is the speaker's volume which is low. I am using Speaker Boost, looks like helped little ( but not very sure).

I find that it works for some apps, DSP Manager works for others.

I uploaded RC4's tabletUI patches, and you can get them in my signature link for My 4 Shared.
I tried one of the RC's back in the day for CM10 and didn't like it much. It seemed slow and glitchy, and it kept corrupting my SD card, so I went back to CM7 for a while, and then tried the CM10.1 nightly for 6-17 yesterday and had SD card problems again. Switching to a higher quality SD card fixed that problem, seems 4.x's file access methods make it more finicky with external media than 2.3's. According to LMT's status bar, my NC is running at 1000mhz, and everything has been fairly stable, although there are a few apps that seem to grind it to a halt, most notably the new Opera browser, although I hear that may just be an issue with their new version, using Opera classic seems to run fairly well. As far as getting the true tablet experience, I had to switch the launcher over to Apex, which has a tablet mode that removes the phone-style dock. On another note, I have two Android phones, an older one running CM7, and a new one running ICS out of the box, tried wireless tethering on each and found that my NC could Ad-hoc into the newer one and share it's internet at remarkable speeds, but couldn't maintain a connection to the CM7 phone even if I skipped DHCP and manually set the IP. I tried Bluetooth on this one and found that neither Sixaxis or Wiimotecontroller worked, but the NC did detect the Wiimote I tried, so I know Bluetooth is working. If I can find my BT headset, I'll give it a try and see if I can't make some internet phone calls. At this point, I'm going to be using CM10.1 as a daily driver, I think it's VERY usable, with my only annoyance being that it's a little slow to boot - any custom boot animations I use other than the one that comes with it are choppy and freeze up, and once the OS has loaded, I have to wait 10-20 seconds while the lock screen says (WIDGET LOADING) to even get the lock screen clock, but after that it's smooth sailing.
On the subject of reading books, I installed Moonreader+ and read some books on it yesterday, so that's still working just fine.
