Rooting Streak O2 2.2 BB v319 actually impossible - Streak 5 General

so...
has anyone with an O2 Streak on 2.2 with BB Version 319 actually managed to root it?? And I dont care if you have a different version and SOC or Z4Root has worked for you... I have tried them as well as this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997581
I get to step 7, but the only option I have is to flash Update.pkg... I cant flash a ZIP... I chose the Update.pkg option, but as I dont have that on my card I got the Dell logo with the /!\ triangle...
I have rooted this device before but really cant remember how and anyway it was using an old version (1.6)...
any help would be super etc etc

Assuming you've already got the recovery installed, once you get to the screen with the triangle, press the power button one more time. The alternate recovery will then show up with the option to flash a zip.

super work... bang on
thanks

Electrophone, have you been able to root your 02 319 with the methods in your link?

Streak Not Booting After Flash... Please Help!

I just rooted my streak as normal and now it will not boot.
When I turn it on, it just displays ''dell'' but stays there forever.
I flashed it before and it was fine but now it is stuck.
Any way I can fix this?
i am no expert, but you'll have to give a lot more information than that
16.?
2.1 ?
versions
how did you flash?
how did you root?
to "fix" your Streak, reverting back to the Update.pkg should get you back working

2.1
Build 6267
How can I flash it when there is no superboot 6267 version yet?
Basically What happened is I upgraded my streak from 1.6 to 2.1
I downloaded root explorer but it would NOT work as my streak was not rooted.
I then rooted my streak using superboot but it was for the old version 3883.
The phone did not boot after this. I then tried superboot for build 4399, same thing the streak gets stuck on the dell logo.
I then looked for build 6267 which is what I have but it does not exist.
I wanted to root my streak with the new 2.1 version but it failed and ever since I'm stuck with the dell logo.
I know I can simply reinstall 2.1 but I will have to reinstall all my apps and set my phone up again.
Is there any way I can recover or somehow go back to the build of 6267 WITHOUT losing anything or reinstalling?
The last thing I want to do is reinstall 2.1 all over again...
I just reinstalled 2.1
Works fine now only I need to put all my apps back on as well as configure/setup all the settings...
I am noob in phone flashing. but after goin thru all sources online.. I tried flashing my Streak 5.
I tried rooting with "SuperOneClick2.2", but it was not detecting phone model or so.. So I tried Superboot... after android interface drivers installation.. phone was decteced in FASTBOOT mode and message in phone showed root installed.
After that, my phone is continually flashing the buttons & showing DELL's white logo on the black background.
All procedures were followed to the dot. However, as suggested in the post & elsewhere, I "factory-resetted" the device. Not worked. I then reverted back to the Android 2.2 "Update.pkg" I had in the sd card. Update was done as usual. But the phone just didn't get ON.
That was yesterday. Well today, all of a sudden, when I tried to on the phone, it started!!!!
But new problem, the phone is not rooted. Checked out with the Android emulator. Tried the whole procedure. Went through the same steps. Problem repeated. Solved. Again & again.. the phone refuses to be ROOTED!!!
What could be the problem?
First of all dont bump a year old thread,
secondly superboot will brick the streak as it's designed for a different rom,
thirdly use the guides on xda/wiki to reinstall with a update.pkg,
fourthly there's a guide halfway down the page currently in the dev section on how to root correctly
Use superone click
One click rooting methods are not infallible. The recommended way to root is to manually install StreakMod Recovery then Superuser.zip.

[Q] Tried all I can think of, but can't get past dell logo...

Like a regular common or garden dumbass I updated my O2 streak using a rebel simcard to froyo today, forgetting that the rebelsim might not work.....which it doesn't of course.
So I tried downgrading to 1.6 again but I just cant get it to work! I've tried loads of stock roms from various places (4399 and 3833) and loads of recovery images including stock, clockwork and streakmod but I get different errors everytime.
Firstly I get told it cant be verified, then it wont recognise the sdcard at all, then it tells me the update.zip is "bad", and when I do get one to install it won't load past the dell logo.
I'm certainly no retard when it comes to this sort of stuff, but its all rather new to me nonetheless. I understand what recovery image you need depends on what rom your trying to install? I've tried countless recommendations from all over the internet, none of which seem to work.
Any idea's greatly appreciated as im completely stumped. I figure if I could get hold of the current o2 2.2 rom then I might be able to get that to work using the current recovery image (which i have got). Doesn't solve my rebelsim problem of course, but at least it would boot!
Like I said, would greatly appreciate some help!
http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=8221
Thanks a lot for the link, thought I was sorted but I think thats a dell 2.2 build rather than one that will work on O2 as when it tries to install the update.zip it says it cannot be verified. I can't think what else it would be anyway.
Anyone know where I can get hold of an O2 2.2 rom?
Tried using the rom found here using the 2.2 recovery
http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/12/...0c#comment-6a00d83451c9ec69e20148c6d068d0970c
But now it tells me assert failed: getprop("ro.product.fota.model")
Sigh

The fota error means you have a recovery thats not for that rom. The rom checks to make sure its flashing to whatever version of the streak it was meant for.
Put the update.pkg on the root of your SD card
Download and unzip the attached file, then flash that via fastboot
Code:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.6941.img
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Hold both volume buttons
select option 2 and it should work
(i think this recovery is for an 02 model so hopefully it'll do the trick)
Reply here if not or just try to find the stock 02 recovery.
good luck
your an absolute legend my friend, thanks so much!
Still can't make phonecalls for the time being of course, but don't really care right now, just glad it boots again!

Someone Please help! I cant get past the Dell Logo!

Hello all. Ok, I had my Streak on Froyo 2.2 via Dells 318 rom. I decided to do a factory whipe. When I booted the phone back up, I was stuck on the Dell Boot Screen forever. I cant figure anything out. I have the 309 recovery image and did all of this with Fastboot. It seems like when I put the phone in fastboot, it goes in fine. I also have the StreakMod recovery I believe it is on the phone as well. Im trying to do everything and cant get my phone past the Dell boot screen. I tried searching everywhere. The thing that gets me is that when I plug the phone into my computer, the comp doesnt bring up a drive to recognize the SD card? I have no way of accessing it through the phone. I have a card reader and can get to the files from that.
Can someone please give me a step by step on what to do here? I went from ATT 1.6 to O2 1.6-2.1 then 2.2. Its been a couple of hours now and I just cant seem to figure this out? Please someone help me? THank you
You can not have 2 recovery's on at the same time its aether 309 recovery or streak mod recovery
If i was you i would re flash the 309 recovery then reinstall the 308 package
the 308 package will only install if you have 309 recovery
Good luck man. I went thru a nightmare like this last night. I ended up getting qdl tool to work and finaly got it to boot. I "THINK", if you can get qdl tool working you might be able to save alot of headache.
I was on the ota 319 and went back to att 1.6 so i could get it setup with 318. Im still confused on how i actualy got it to work.

Something wrong with dell streak

Hope some one can help me .the history is my first dell streak was broken ;they changed to a new one with 315 2.2 froyo installed ,i cant uptade with any offical updates like 318 ,it become blank automicly and stuck to dell logo with fastboot, into I take out battery.then it starts normaly as it was closed ,have rooted with z4root now apk s tell that is rooted, still doesnt help to flash offical update from dells home page.my first one had no such problem .thanks
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
If you can get into recovery mode try doing a factory reset from there and then apply the official update from the stock recovery. You can get the 309 recovery image from this page if you need it (in case you have flashed clockwork or streakdroid recovery). Here is what I would do:
Flash stock recovery (if you don't have it)
Factory reset from recovery
Install the Dell 318 pkg file from recovery (rename it to update.pkg and put it in the root of the sdcard)
I rooted 318 with SuperOneClick V 1.5.5. I had to take my SD card out of the phone for it to work.
Thanks so much for your help, very nice post. That 318 is mandatory if you want to be able to browse a bunch of websites without any annoying message regarding too many connections.
you can also use the QDL tool on streakdroid.com and it will get you back to the stock O2 build and from their upgrading to 318 is a simple as doing to dell's website and downloading it via the web browser.... you don't even have to mess with renaming to update.pkg... just download 318 and hit install.... don't make this complicated folks... its really not that hard

New way to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1

Ok so found by mistake but will help ones with no sd slot to make goldcard
Ok so first dl. Superoneclick root then the auto rooter for 2.1 will let u know what its called later(ultra easy rooter)
Next 1a.open super1click and ulter easy rooter
2a.in super1click do the shell root
3a.the run ulter easy rooter, once finished u will be at the fastboot screen
4a.click fast boot to go to boot loader screen and then hit vol up to update"esrpimg" once that is done u will be back to 2.1.
5a.once the phone has loaded back up to 2.1 and root just go to recovery and load a rom
NOTE: put update.zip on root of sd so u can load cwm other wish u only get root
AND sry still no way to get soff....
HOPE that is better........for the pickie ones
That is by far the longest run on sentence ive ever seen. You should edit and complete your thoughts. As well as add info on to what your actually explaining. Such as a complete history of the problem. And links to the original related post.

Is this just another root method or will this also downgrade H-Boot, allowing someone to achieve S-Off after downgrading from 2.2 and H-Boot 1.0+
Your phone info in your sig says that your mytouch slide is S-Off'd. If it's true that you can achieve S-Off using this method, that would be huge news.
From what I have tryed alparev does not get soff when I did the downgrade all got changed buttbut the bootloader and the hboot will not allow me to get soff so so far no luck
the hoboot i have after downgrade is hboot 1.02.0000
now i dont know what the old hboot was so if anyone knows plz let me know so I can try to push it sum how
Thats sig is because I have muti slides so plz don't mistake it for what I'm posting now all this was tryed on new slide with 2.2.1
Has anyone ever tested this? I don't have a MT3GS anymore but this seems like a pretty awesome and pain free process to gain root.
I would also like to know if this works?
Yes it does work have done it muti times just to check and check YES it works.....
YES this surprisingly does work. The only problem I had was that the update file wasn't on my SD card so I continued to get a signature filed message when I tried to update. All I did was to copy the file from the mtg rooter fille over to my SD card and ran the update and it worked perfectly. I'm rooted and very happy!
Had to get my slide replaced and the new one came with 2.2.1. I used this method and it got me back to a rooted 2.1 state just like it says. Thanks for coming up with this one.
Really quick and easy! Thanks so much. Too bad T-Mobile is shipping these with 2.2.1 on them, no more S-Off...
Outstanding! Thanks for the tip. Worked flawlessly.
This would be awesome if there were links to where to download everything so someone doesn't download the wrong thing by mistake
important links
I agree with the last post ... links are critical here. This was the easiest rooting process I have ever encountered. Below are links left out by OP. Follow OP's instructions with these files and you'll be rooted quickly and painlessly.
super one click (v1.7 worked flawlessly for me)

ultra easy rooter (mt3gslide specific)

This method should be the new rooting method for folks receiving replacement or new slides with 2.2. This should, IMO, be in development.
Thank god for this method. My phone up and died and the replacement came with 2.2.1. I tried a few other methods that failed. This one worked like a charm.
nice
wish i would have stopped back here would have saved me from having to downgrade, root, then upgrade back too 2.2 smh.... lol but nice to know yeah!!!!
Very helpful
I am going to try this method soon. Do we need anything else other than those two files to get our phones operational again? I want to try cm7 nightly, but want to make sure the phone would work before trying to put on another rom.

1. Download the 2 files in post #13/ thanks NJAZ (SuperOneClickv1.7-ShortFuse.zip and mt3srooter.zip)
2. Extract them to their own folders on the desktop of your computer
3. Run the .exe files within each of the folders (open the programs SuperOneClick and mt3srooter--run as admin if using Vista or Win7)
4.In the Super1Click program, click "Shell Root", wait a moment til it does its thing
5.In the mt3gs rooter program, click on "Root Me"
It will tell you to turn on the wifi on your phone, and you must do it within 30 seconds, so hurry
6.Your phone will reboot into bootloader mode if all goes well. Use your volume buttons to navigate down to the fastboot option, and choose it with the power button. The phone will scan your sd card and find ESPRIMG.zip, and take a while checking the file. When it is finished checking the file, press the volume up button to confirm that you want to flash the file. Once it is finished flashing, you're rooted on stock 2.1 Eclair ROM.
I dont know if these programs put the update.zip for CWM onto your sd card too, I already had that and the ESPRIMG.zip on my card when I used this method, so if all else fails you, put a card into your phone with these files on the root of it into your phone and then use the 2 programs to gain root. Dont be afraid to try it a couple of times if it doesn't work the first time, and make sure that you have the correct drivers for your phone installed on your computer. To get into CWM Recovery to be able to flash custom ROMs, boot into bootloade by starting your phone and holding the vol-down button, and you will get a black screen with a red triangle. Then press power and vol-down and choose "Apply Update.zip" and in a moment you will be in CWM Recovery,as long as you have the file on the root of your sd card.
Just thought I'd spell it all out very detailed and simple for anybody less familiar with all this kind of stuff, makes for less "please explain step #...." posts.
ugh
this is soooo lame!!!!!!!!!!! n not ur post but my situation i cant get it!!!! it goes thru the process on ultra easy but one it get to the writting on cmd it says it wasnt "cd /sqlite_stmt_journals" then it says that the exploidcant be found and the rest of the other things that the program tries to push....im getting so frustrated..ived rooted g1 mytouch droid evo ived unlocked jailbroken all iphone models from 1st gen to iphone 4 all ipods unlocked blackberrys gotten to root on hd7 put android and wp7 on a hd2.... but this devices i am having so many problems!!!! ived tried every method and get to the same stop forget this phone im getting on craigslist n trading!
