hi.. thanks for the help..
i have internet in the connections drop down selected. i still cant get internet explorer to connect to the internet through my pc, it still tries to connect via WAP and GPRS..
should i settup a connection through a proxy server... how would i do this..
thanks again for any help
Tony
Hi Tony,
I definitely didn't set up a proxy server on my XDAII, so I'm pretty sure its not that.
Have you got a connection set up to use the GPRS connection on your XDA - under start - settings - connections tab - connections . I have a connection called 'My ISP' , which when I click on 'manage existing connections' has the modem set to use a GPRS connection. Again I don't remember setting this up, so it may be something O2 install from the rom. Try a reset and see if it picks anything up.
One thing I would suggest you do get when you are using GPRS is some sort of traffic monitor. I use Spb GPRS monitor (via Handango) and its well worth a tenner.
Hope this helps
Hi i just got my XDA2 today and I too can not get onto Internet through Activesync and pc just tries to call up on gprs
I have tried the above suggestion still no luck
Can any one help
I can connect to the Internet from my XDA II via the ActiveSync connection on my desktop PC. The connection was configured automatically by the XDA II when I first synchronized it with the desktop PC. The XDA II even automatically configured the proxy server setting to the one I use at the office.
Go to Start->Settings, select the Connections tab and click on Connections. On the Connections window, there should be two connections listed on the Tasks tab. Select the Advanced tab and click on the Select Networks button. On the Network Management window, the first drop-down list should have your GPRS connection selected and the second drop-down list should have your ActiveSync connection (My Work Network) selected.
Thanks Jargon got mine working now

Just follow the same directions I have already given. But instead of selecting the missing "My Work Network" connection, create a new one by pressing the "New..." button below the second drop-down list. Name it "My Work Network". Then select the "Proxy Settings" tab and check the "This network connects to the Internet" checkbox. Click on "OK" to close the window.

Hi from a newbie. I've just bought the TyTn11 and would like to use bluetooth to access my laptop's internet connection. Part 1 of your instructions were easy enough to follow but part 2 confused the hell out of me - not least because I don't have a Network Cards icon from Start > Settings > Conections >. The TyTn is running WM6 if that's any help. Any pointers would be greatfully accepted
it's
Start > Settings > Conections > connections > adcanced > select network
pick the item in the dropdownbox which is not called something like my isp or such
usualy the 2th item
Thanks Rudegar, I'll give it a try.
Hi,
I'm trying to get Internet over bluetooth working on my TyTN with WM6.
I've got bluetooth network access point configured on my Linux PC so part 1 is done.
In part 2 I've successfuly configured IP and DNS for Bluetooth PAN driver but I can't find the option "Join a personal network" in my bluetooth settings.
Actually I'm stuck in part 2 point 6 as there is no Bluetooth Manager link under bluetooth settings.
Any advice?

also tryed something like Rudegar said but there is :
"select a modem" (cellular line, cellular line(gprs) , generic IrDA , hayes compatible on com1 ) , tryed with com1 but it asks user / password / domain ...
i just dont know what to do, help...

Hi,
I can't find out how to access this on a HTC Touch (Elf). Can someone please help?
Thanks
SubZero,
I not sure if you're instructions are correct.
From you wiki page-
Part 2: Setting Up Your HTC:
1. Go to Start > Settings > Conections > Network Cards. This option doesn't exist!
2. Tap the adapter named Bletooth PAN User Driver. You will now see IP Address tab selected in the Settings.
3. Select Use server-assigned IP Address.
Could someone who has done it on thier HTC diamond please check this?
Thank You

Many people have struggled to connect to wifi using proxy. I also used to struggle. But now I have found a very simple way. It works 100% of the time. Here is the procedure.
How to set up proxy Wifi
------------------------
Go to Settings->Connections->Connections
Click on Advanced tab
Click Select Networks
Click New
Enter Name "Wifi With Proxy"
Click Advanced
Select "This network connects to the internet"
Select "This network uses a proxy
Select Advance
Put your proxy setting here.
How to set up non-proxy Wifi
----------------------------
Go to Settings->Connections->Connections
Click on Advanced tab
Click Select Networks
Click New
Enter Name "Wifi Without Proxy"
Click Advanced
Select "This network connects to the internet"
UnSelect "This network uses a proxy
Connect to wifi using Proxy.
----------------------------
Disable Wifi
Go to Settings->Connections->Connections
Click on Advanced tab
Click Select Networks
Select "Wifi With Proxy" for both Internet and Private.
Click Ok
Click Ok
Enable Wifi
It is important that you disable wifi, then select n/w and then enable wifi.
Connect to wifi without Proxy i.e direct wifi.
---------------------------------------------
Disable Wifi
Go to Settings->Connections->Connections
Click on Advanced tab
Click Select Networks
Select "Wifi Without Proxy" for both Internet and Private.
Click Ok
Click Ok
Enable Wifi
It is important that you disable wifi, then select n/w and then enable wifi.
Every time you switch from proxy to non proxy, you will have to do steps of "Connect to wifi without Proxy i.e direct wifi." manually (unless someone can write a mort sscript or some thing, if one does, then please PM me).
Everytime you switch from proxy to non-proxy, you will have to do steps of "Connect to wifi using Proxy" manually.
Enjoy.
Thank you
Thank you so much.
These steps worked like a charm. I was not able to find the details anywhere.
Didn't work for me and I don't know what's the problem. When I put my proxy settings into Opera directly via opera:config, it works flawlessly. When I use your method (and I follow the steps exactly), it doesn't.
Dear friend,

That's a wrong place to ask your question, buddy... If that's a custom ROM you are using on your device and there is no Wi-Fi, you should ask the ROM cook (the person who posted the ROM) in the thread you downloaded it from. Or try the dedicated forum part for your device here.

you don't need anything. just read the manual
You could use the application "Data Controller", i have it installed cause this annoyed me aswell.
Data controller allows you to shut down any non-wifi signal your phone is currently transmitting (like the data link & wap etc.)

Thank you for the hint, but searching for it I found a new 'version' updated to work with Manila Windows Phone, called Manila Dial-up Enabler/Disabler.
Now what I do need, it is to find a way to use facebook through wifi/wlan ..
Has anybody already discovered how to have facebook using only wifi or activesync connections?
I will Copy/Paste the steps since new users cant post links
Prevent your phone from using the data connection when you want to ensure that it will never connect to the Internet via GPRS/3G.
On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls.
1-Tap Menu > Connections and then tap Add a new modem connection.
2-Enter Offline as the name of the connection.
3-In the Select a modem list, select Cellular Line (GPRS), and then tap Next.
4-Enter Offline as the access point and then tap Next.
5-Tap Finish.
6-Tap Manage existing connections and then select Offline.
7-Press BACK and then tap Done.
Restoring the data connection:
1-On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls.
2-Tap Menu > Connections and then tap Manage existing connections.
3-Tap the name of your mobile operator's data connection.
4-Press BACK and then tap Done.
Hope this will help

that information doesnt exist from my understanding with these types of phones... u either have the internet or you dont, which u should have the internet if ur paying the data package, unless ur bill is past due and some of your services are temporarily suspended...
No, the thing is - I bought Droid X on EBay and now want to use it with different carrier (not Verizon). Phone interface doesn't have any option to exchange settings for built-in EV-DO modem (dialing number, username, password, etc). phones running Android and build by HTC have easy access to modem internet settings.
Help, plz!
I don't think you can use the x on another carrier by my understanding.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The only other carrier you *might* be able to use it on is one that uses CDMA, so not T-Mobile or AT&T

Connection Manager paradigm doesn't exist on this platform. Provisioning is done OTA when you first set up.
