I noticed that there is a fps=30 in build.prop. If this number were increased/decreased would it make a difference in the phone video quality/performance?
Sent from my rooted, gingerblured badass atrix!
Change it and see what happens. The worst that could happen is a sbf reflash. Change it to 1fps
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Well I wouldn't want to lower it. I would want to increase it. But I really don't want to have to flash and set everything back up again.
Sent from my rooted, gingerblured badass atrix!
I'd really appreciate it if you tried, just wan't to know; you'll likely be able to change it back to 30 if you dislike the results, and if it does do something bad an SBF isn't that bad if you have a backup
True. I guess I'll just go ahead and give it a shot.
Sent from my rooted, gingerblured badass atrix!
I was so tempted when I saw that too...
Sent from my Googletron
Well... I changed fps in build.prop and got no change in anything. I changed to to fps=60 instead of 30. I ran a quadrant and none of the graphics tests went any higher or anything. Also, could tell any difference in anything else. Didn't even bother taking the time to change it back. I'm sure something cool will come out and ill need to flash back to stock anyway so why waste the time? Lol

Just wanted to apologize if I sounded like a d!ck in my previous post. It makes me upset when I see others reply like that, so it is not good for me to do it.
What I should of said, is give it some time and people will be able to give you an honest answer, but my guess is that it is worth it. I don't see how it would be possible for Samsung and Sprint to take an additional four months and make it worse, but you never know.
I'm on stock ec05 right now and rooted and everything is fine so far. Sprint I'd isn't all that cool really. Its neat but not amazing.
When the custom roms come out we will be rocking

And the custom roms are what I am waiting for. I've been using Syndicate Frozen for awhile now. I am loving what it has done to my phone. Fast, responsive, getting nearly two days of use off a battery with over 3 hours of screen on time. That is impressive compared to what I used to get.
I've only been running the EC05 modem for a few days, so I cannot comment on whether that improves anything.

I've been runnning Syndicate Frozen EXT4 EC05, and am loving it. I've had my Epic for about 2 weeks now. Soon as I pulled it out the box i rooted it and went threw a few roms, till I came across Syndicate Frozen. The other ROM i tried were still cool but Syndicate Frozen is simple and fast.
So, since you guys cannot root at this moment, I thought, why not make a thread about what exactly you are going to flash the instant you get root? So here it is. Be specific, down to the last mhz and themes...
I know once I get root, I'll flash CM7 with the Synergy theme on the market and the Tiamat kernel...
Have Fun

I just got my evo,(upgraded from htc hero) and as soon as we get root I'm going to flash miui. I had cm7 on my hero and loved it, but I want to try a few different roms out on this much faster device !

Cm7, miui and synergy to test em all. Wife's evo had mikg, so i know that is a good ROM.

MikG. I'm also gonna try some of the new kernels that just surfaced as well. Not much into themes, I like the stock look just fine.

Patience fellas that's all it takes is patience, soon there will be root for 2.3.3.
I will jump in...
As soon as it happened.. I have 3 guys at work that bug me 2x a day for me to root their phones.
I will start with one and work my way around the store.
I want my kingdom Rom back so bad its been like 2 months from the time I had root and that Rom was just getin good so I know it has to be perfict now
Kush Deck, whatever the latest release is (I don't torture myself keeping up with the thread right now), and the Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC kernel.
Then I will breathe a heady sigh of relief, make a nandroid backup to use as a daily driver, and start looking for the latest and greatest of everything and start my old flashing ways again.
Synergy will be my first choice. I liked all the betas, but then started having heat related reboots, went into sprint and the rest is history including my ability to root...
I was using VR Kingdom so I would definitely try synergy and Kings shooter port.....urghhh I hate not being rooted!

Call HTC and say that, not Sprint.
Was on CM7 thinking that the wifi was terrible and I needed a good signal so I thought I'd go back to the 2.2 roms. So far all Ive been able to do is update the phone to 2.2 stock and I HATE IT!
Quick! what is the fastest method to gain root and get a ROM on there!?
Thanks in advance!
Odin to jfd and root. Then install cwm or if you have the old update.zip reinstall that a couple of times. Oh yeah don't forget to put a rom on as wwell.
Sent from my SGS-t959 using XDA App
wait wait wait. I feel like such a noob. I odin'd to jfd (stock 2.1 right) rooted and installed clockwork recovery. Tried to flash trigger and it didn't work, which made me think, "crap, do I need to be on 2.2?' dammit! I am confused... Are you saying that I should have been able to flash trigger 3.2 from stock, rooted, 2.1? It didn't work for some reason...oh jeez...I bet it was a bad dl...
Yeah. Basically. You might need to wait a little for voodoo to kick in, but I've flashed trigger 3.2 multiple times on 2.1 stock.rooted.

Let's try that again So I've been on mostly stock...not overclocked. I was normally getting around 18-1950 quadrant scores... So I updated to Sleeper ROM (el30, odexed)...it seems about the same performance-wise...but I only get ~1300 on quadrant!
I was wondering if that was some effect of the odexed vs deodexed...but I don't see how. I don't see a difference in my daily driving...just thought I would ask what other people feel about such things...
Also, I'm still running ext4... If I can convince myself to go MTD, I would probably try clean GB... But I don't want to go back to rds...

nope its more for fps testing. It has no real world preformance meaning...
No. They can be fooled with scripts. The only thing that should ever matter is how fast a ROM seems to you.

Of course they are !!!!!!
How else would we compare e-peens on here
Trololol. But seriously, mtd performs the best but the quadrants are a little lower than ext4. So basically, it means nothing.
That's why I'm not sure why all the phone review n comparison videos use quadrant to test performance. Then I laugh when it tells them one phone is "faster" than the other but the specs are worse XD.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
The scores are a great way to determine what setup works best on each specific phone, but does a poor job of comparing performance between different phones.
As such, if you are looking at the scores in respect to what others got, its not much of a help
But if you are using it for what makes your phone work better, as far as different ROMs, Kernels, and different combos, then it can be very helpful
I feel like Antutu seems to score in an arbitrary way that works. I can't say why but the number match the performance I feel more often than not. Some outliers, but a decent way to compare on some level.
Anyone using any scripts or other tweaks on their continuum on eg04? Not that mine is running bad, but if there are any good ones then I'll give it a go. Besides, there hasn't been much activity on here lately, so want to see if I'm all alone on here.

Got the Galaxy note 2 so won't be in here as much.. But still gonna theme and what not since the Continuum is one of my favorite phones of all time.
Yeah, I'd say a lot of people are coming up on their upgrade date... I have six more months.
Just was wondering how others were running scripts. I seem to have them working, at least the test script gives me the correct output at boot. I tried the V6 SuperCharger script, it seemed to work, but not much difference. Not that I think there is much more to get out of this phone, and I'm pretty happy the way it's running now.

Well since you're trying something new for the Continuum I guess I should do the same and experiment on a few things. but give me some things to try out if you feel like it's risky for the phone.

I'm loving it. Tons of development around and it's an all around solid phone. My connection seems a bit worse than on my continuum though. I would've gone for the S3, but honestly it was just too big for my hands. I have a pretty difficult time just holding my nexus.I do miss the pocketability though, the thing is like a brick for me since it's in my pocket at school for most of the day. I have a bulky case on it though, so if you run it bare you shouldn't have any issues... I just realized how much I'm typing. This is why I can't be on forums while I try and write an essay, I just keep going on, and on, and on. Ok, I'm gonna stop. Really I will.
Cool...i just had to replace my continuum again...3g went dead, think it was a hardware issue...and was looking at other phones. S3, nexus, or droid razr m made my list, but verizon said I have to wait two more months before they will let me upgrade....grrr.
