You canĀ“t use fastboot unless you get S-OFF. In order to get it you should flash an Engineering SPL. Try this one:
https://rs602dt.rapidshare.com/#!do...ed.zip|189|R~F2574604F09E1923BC58D9AD240AE64D
You need a working recovery to flash this zip. Can you access it? (Turn ON the phone with the combo "Power+Home".

You need to put that Engineering SPL in the root of your sd card and flash it in the recovery. But you need a working recovery installed. You can't flash anything right now with fastboot. Just make this clear: Does your phone boot into the system? Can you access fastboot mode or Hboot mode?
Access the Hboot or Fastboot
The HBOOT screen has a white background with text/lettering of a variety of colors; you start the HBOOT boot from a power-off state by pressing and holding both Vol-Down and End/Power until the screen lights up. You will know it is the HBOOT when see 3 (green) skateboarding Droids
The FASTBOOT screen also has a white background with text/lettering of a variety of colors; you start the FASTBOOT boot from a power-off state by pressing and holding both Send and End/Power until the screen lights up.

What about the recovery?? Can you access it? And can you enter into the system? It's really important. The thing is, if you can't access recovery you need to enter into the system (Android OS) and flash a new one with ADB. If you can't access any of this, you need to run a RUU in order to restore your system. If you don't provide all the information you can't get helped.
try this adb commands
you have a semi-bricked phone
The "remote not allowed" means the SPL is perfected. Perfected means that it's "Locked" or S=ON
Try ADB first, otherwise if it does not work
You have to make a gold card:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/14/how-to-root-your-mytouch-3g/
Once you have a gold card then you download a new SPL and put it onto the card (read instructions from there):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4332591
Engineerings SPL v1.33.2010
Once you have an Engineering (prefered) or non-perfected SPL you'll be able to flash what you need without the 'remote not allowed' message.

After a lot of trial and error we finally did it! Many thanks to Jrbourque for being a tester with balls (he could have bricked his phone) and Haykuro for all the tips and tricks . Please give them credit where credit is due
Proceed on your own risk, you might brick your phone!!!
This method is written for the original MT3G back in 2009, DONT USE IT on the Fender/MT3G 1.2!!!
CREATE and PREPARE your GOLDCARD
Please start a new thread in the general section if you have issues creating a goldcard, this how-to assumes that you have a working Goldcard.
- Create a Goldcard according to this tutorial (Sandisk SD-cards might not work, I used a Kingston 2GB SD and it worked fine).
- Copy sappimg.zip to your goldcard.
PREPARE your spare SD
- Format a spare SD FAT32 (not your Goldcard! )
- Download the 1.33.2005 hboot, rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of your spare SD.
FLASH your T-Mobile myTouch 3G
Make sure are using fastboot from the latest SDK (release 3) !
- Power-off your device
- Insert the goldcard
- Power on while holding volume down (of fastboot your device and then press volume down)
- It should pick up the sappimg.zip and you should be able to flash it.
- Once the flashing is FULLY finished power off your device.
- Remove the goldcard and insert the SD (with update.zip)
- Power on while holding back (=fastboot) and connect the USB cable
- Download my RAv1.2.0H recovery and fastboot it :
Code:
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.0H.img
- Once the recovery is booted wait a while
- Apply the update.zip (you are now flashing the 1.33.2005 SPL)
- Once the SPL is flashed you have to power off your device and boot it again in fastboot mode.
- The SPL should now read 1.33.2005.
- Power off your device and pull out the SD-card
- erase the update.zip on your SD-card (via cardreader)
- Download my RAv1.1.0H 32A based ROM and rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of your SD-card (via cardreader)
- Insert the SD into your device.
- Power on while holding back (=fastboot) and connect the USB cable
Code:
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.0H.img
- Apply the update.zip located on your SD-card
Revert to 32B Radio and ROM :
- Download your favorite 32B ROM and copy it to your sdcard
- Download the Ion radio image from the HTC site.
- Extract radio.img from ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip using your favorite rar/zip program.
- Download my 32B RAv1.2.0G recovery.
- Fastboot your mobile and connect it via USB :
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.0G.img
- press MENU to power off! (do not reboot)
- hold HOME and POWER to boot into recovery mode
- apply update
Original T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Splash Image (Thanks Haykuro)
Download it here
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash.nb
Un-Root your T-mobile MyTouch 3G (and receive back those OTA updates)
- Download this nbh and rename it to sappimg.nbh (MD5 33D958062CC02BB2CEC157F68621D2FF)
- Copy sappimg.nbh to your goldcard (a normal SD might also work if you are using an engineerings SPL, give it a try and let us know ).
- Power-off your device
- Insert the goldcard (or SD)
- Power on while holding volume down (of fastboot your device and then press volume down)
- It should pick up the sappimg.zip and you should be able to flash it.
- Once the flashing is FULLY finished reboot your phone.

fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.0H.img says waiting for device?
Hey Amon, and I'm not trying to derail your topic by any means, what you said about the radio makes complete sense. As we have 32B devices, do we run the risk of roms for 32A boards running slower, because they're anticipating the additional Ram?
We should just move everyone to either the A or B platform that way people wouldn't have to worry about bricking because of a rom being for the wrong radio/board version.
Additionally, am I correct in assuming that the below instructions from Haykuro were to get back to a 32B environment?
14. at this stage you are now at 1.33.2005 and you should be connected via fastboot, extract the contents of givemeroot.zip (radio and recovery image) type this:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
AmonRa, your tutor need 2 sd card, one is setup as gold card, and others just a normal card..then we put SAPPIMG.zip to goldcard, so magic will do flash on it..
my question is..how if i just put SAPPI<G.ZIP and update.zip in the goldcard? is that will do?

Yes this could be the case, that's why I suggest (see Daredevil-part to update to a 32B radio (and after a 32B recovery) after the flashing of the SPL, just like Haykuro posted
I'm a bit afraid of flashing the radio at the moment, I don't want people to have a bricked MyTouch 3G.
I would appreciate it if someone could try to flash a 32B radio (preferably the ION radio) and use a 32B recovery to flash an 32B ROM after. If this goes ok I can update this thread.

Waiting for device means that fastboot can't find your device over USB... It could be that you need to reinstall your drivers because your PC will find a new board 32A instead of 32B.
When trying to create Gold Card I downloaded the Terminal Emulator and I cannot create a Gold Card.

if you have windows with right deriver and htc sync, you can try to flash an original RUU , it should work. if you cant download one using you serial number , make a gold card and use another RUU
Edit: maybe there is no ruu for that phone ... then you should ful the ruu by changing rom.zip file to one you know works.

My HTC MAGIC A6161 from Vodafone
one day the phone comes up with the Vodafone boot screen only and i have only access to FASTBOOT mode and nothing else
does someone know a way to get the original NBH file as it seems the only way to unbrick it so far and of course none of the FASTBOOT commands work and none of the ADB commands work too
can anyone help pleaaaaassssseee
define, DO you, or DO YOU NOT have access to fastboot?!? (when you press back&power)
if you have access to fastboot then you're not bricked at all.
if you do not have access to fastboot, recovery (back&power), hboot (vol down&power), or master reset (home&back+power),
and the only thing that is different than your 1st boot screen is when you press trackball+power - blue led turns on, then you are semi bricked.
and you will have to wait for solution, because, there is no solution yet, but will be, very soon...
well i have access to FASTBOOT mode but i can't flash any files through the fastboot commands i get Failed(remote : not allow) and that's because i'm not root anymore and to be root i need to access the recovery mode which i don't have.. so i'm in so many ways stuck ..

i've tried today one of the NBH file on the forum after i created another goldcard and guess what it started installing till it stopped at a very strange part while installing system with an error (partition update fail)
so i tried to look it up but i couldn't find anything useful.
it's almost a week and i'm trying everyday, i've searched and searched and now it comes to this when i'm just one step to finish this nightmare
i'm not going to the service center with my tale between my legs
if someone knows something .. now would be a very good time
@shahwan: Well, that's weird! Have you, by any chance, messed around and flashed a 32B radio? Anyway, you could try this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218 to get an engineerings SPL and then flash another radio (3.22 maybe?) from fastboot.
@misiobot: Remove the battery, put it back, press and hold Volume Down and then press Power. Does this take you to fastboot? If not, what does your screen show? Please give us as many details as possible, we can't guess what the problem is.
well actually it takes me to fastboot mode normally but if i try the fastboot commands to flash anything i get the famous error (remote .. failed)
so it was useless that's why i had to flash the phone with a NBH file and that was my only solution till i got the error (partition update fail) when it tried to install the system, which means that it wasn't successful of course
i even tried another Sd card becaue the one i was using was only 1GB and to create the freaken gold card i had to put the SD card in another functioning phone
I have exactly the same problem as you, I can boot to both HBoot and Fastboot, but I cant flash anything by using fastboot, not even erase the system (remote: not allow) is what I've got, could anyone help on this ?
Either run a RUU or apply a SAPPIMG.zip
Hello,
back again: after some idiots with jtag equipment were unable to reinstall software on my phone i have decided to take another chance:
The reason for this software reinstall is that the phone is not starting: it shows htc magic twice then htc and then it shuts down.
So i managed to create a goldcard - yes i know it is working
I have managed to get my phone to this stage by using an amon_ra sappimg.zip file:

cpld-12
radio-3.22.20.17
jun 2 2009
as you can see i can enter fast boot ... but ... i hace no ideea on what to do next: what to install ?
I have to mention that adb devices or fastboot devices are not (yet hopefully) detecting my phone.
Please help!
come on! 40 views and no one gives a ... just say : flash this or follow this.
I've read so many threads and everything is so mumbo jumbo. only a few people know what to do, the others just walk in the dark.
I've done it twice on HTC Magic. I've followed the instructions on CyanogenMod's wiki (Google cyanogenmod wiki sapphire dream jtag).
If you've got fastboot then it is no longer bricked. It is just then a matter of adb'ing the recovery image to the unit. You are almost there ....

Put it on the root of the sdcard.
Toggle back to your recovery.

The phone on startup is showing twice the "htc magic" logo and then "htc". then it powers off. No restart possbile untill battery is taken out. Fastboot and recovery are accessible on the phone but i cannot see my phone in windows in fastboot or recovery via `fastboot devices` or `adb devices` commands.
Which zip did you insert in the goldcard?
That will probably solve my problem as well.
The file i downloaded and managed to install is named 2.53.707.2_-_sappimg.zip and it appeared in one of amon_ra's posts (i can not find this now ). just renamed it to sappimg.zip put it on goldcard and it worked.

Don't flash anything like a sapphire.zip/nbh...
You are set... you have the right spl/radio combo + you have eng spl...
The only thing needed to fix is the windows driver!!!
So, take it easy and think..
Don't change the configuration or anything.
The reason i told you to try the radio tool is to make sure you have the right recovery.
I have added you on gtalk.
Just focus your energy to fix the drivers so this commands shows your htc device nr.

Sorry my english is very bad. I tried to root my phone image by replacing''Recovery''to step flash recovery fastboot boot.img boot.img''is the new image can not load MSDOS reported "boot.img''boot file. dc img has put in SKD / tools, and do not know the new Image download file decompression is necessary or is not simply rename a DC? I leave it renamed unsuccessfully boot.img

I have no idea about your error, but you can't flash recovery.img unless you have an engineering SPL (which you'd have to root to acquire).
Please boot your phone holding home and vol- and post what's displayed on the screen.

i had a similiar problem with yours. stuck in the recovery img and spl issue. my actual statu is a rooted phone with a cutom recovery img but with the original spl and radio(about to change those too).
this is how i did:
as far as i've learned, u dont need to flash your spl in order to flash your recovery.
i intalled FlashRec.apk and then installed RA recovery img from it. there a video on youtube called how to root your magic in one click. try that!
goodluck!
Looks like you have a Rogers Magic, correct?
You have S-ON (security on) so you can't flash anything useful from fastboot.
I use a 32B device, so hopefully a fellow Rogers user can help you :-/

That will work on some 1.5 builds, 4zroot and universal androot are newer alternatives.

I tried to use that way, but that backup device''error flaied image invalid"I think I deleted the original recovery of the phone and now my phone is not in recovery mode again, no way to recover it?
if you follow the way of''recovery''Amon_RA img instead only image recovery platforms, the need of the SDK is not it? I think I have not installed successfully because when you type the command ADB ADB device only shows up on MSDOS''attached''List of devices without the S / N of my phone

Just because the backup failed, doesn't mean your recovery is gone. Use home+power and tell us if it's still there.
"adb devices" will show the serial number of all attatched devices, you have it set up correctly. However you can not use adb or fastboot to root your device.

because I used the command "erase fastboot recovery" so I think I deleted the original recovery of the phone away and then, when I press home and power it boots up the words "HTC Magic" and stop there

Oh, and flashrec did that? As in, it removed recovery but couldn't flash a new one?
That's a *****, you could try another root method like universal androot to get to flash the custom recovery image.

hi,
i got a used wildfire device. it boots always into fastboot. i have tried to reflash RUU. that seemed to finish successfully but it stuck in boot screen when rebooted after finishing.
i can access the device via fastboot but what could be done next?
dont know the history of that device. maybe hardware defect? but would firmware update finish successfully then?
thanks for sharing your ideas

turn it to S-OFF then downgrade to hboot 1.01.0001... you must unbrand it first before you can flash custom roms.. you can find guides on the development section..

Fastboot will not work as you are S-ON. So you first have to downgrade your hboot version to 1.01.0001 and then install a custom bootloader with the use of revolutionary. Tutorials for downgrading and gaining root with revolutionary can be found in the developement section (cant link you as I'm using the xda app).
Once rooted, you can use fastboot or the custom recovery to flash a new rom.
Good luck!
Erwin
EDIT: I've just seen that the [full guide] on how to root with hboot 1.01.0002 is on the main page of "wildfire general"!

Unable to downgrade without an OS?
1st thanks a lot for your answers!
I am bit in trouble, because I dont have a running (bootable) Android on that phone. As I understand all the downgrade guides I will need an ADB connection (which requires some booted Android OS I think - please correct me if I am wrong).
My plan was to install an OS version to 1st check if device works so far and boots an official OS.
I successfully flashed a new ROM from shipped-roms. Cause it was originally branded I needed to create a goldcard. I realized that I can only install newer ROMs. Whenever I wanted to install an older RUU the setup gave me an error 140.
So I have installed an australian Telstra 2.38 RUU (http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_167270_signed.exe) which successfully finished. But after installation the device reboots in normal mode and stuck after Telstra logo.
Is there a way to see why it does not boot successfully?
Is there a chance that this is a software error and NOT an hardware error?
Thanks & regards

Have you tryed to connect your phone when hangin in that tesla logo, and check if you can run adb now? With a little luck.. A simple "adb devices" will allow you to check.
Erwin
I think alpharev (and hence revolutionary) needs a full booted phone with USB debugging on. So maybe you can't use them.
Try to make a hard reset from the hboot menu. Power off the device and hold volume down + power button. Then clear storage there and see what happens.
If it still had the issue, then install the RUU by pc49img method. Download the correct ruu for your phone. Donot connect phone to PC. On windows PC click on start and type %temp% and enter. This opens the user temporary folder of your PC. Now run the ruu. Now if you observe the temp folder, there will be extra folders created which have folder name enclosed in {} brackets. Search in these folders for the file ROM.zip. Copy the ROM.zip to a safe location. Now format your memory card to fat32 (must) and put the ROM.zip to the root of memory card. You should use memory card reader. Then rename the ROM.zip to PC49IMG.ZIP . Then insert memory card in phone and reboot to hboot menu from where you can update/reflash the partitions. If still not working, clear storage again from hboot menu.
Give these things a try. If they won't solve you mostly need to give your phone to service center, because you can't do anything on a phone with heavily locked bootloader and S-ON when it is not bootable (AFAIK).

Still fails
Thanks so much for your support!
@Erwin: I've tried to connect via ADB but it failed. I dont get an ADB connection to my device.
@Bharatgaddameedi: A problem is, that I cant select anything in the HBOOT menu. The VOL-/+ keys dont work in HBOOT menu. I doubt it has an hardware error (keys damaged), because I can use them to boot either in HBOOT or HBOOT/fastboot. But problem is: I cant clear storage
I have created a SD card with PC49IMG.ZIP but it failed with error "Main version is older!". I will order a XTC clip and try to S-OFF this device. Hope that helps. Or some other idea out there?

Remove sdcard and boot into hboot mode and try to clear storage. There shouldn't be hardware issue regarding volume keys since you are able to boot into hboot mode.
And regarding the error "main version is older", it is because the ruu you are using must be having hboot 1.01.0001 (or even lower) whereas your phone hboot is 1.01.0002. As it cannot downgrade it gives the error. The solution is you should use an ruu with hboot 1.01.0002 . I don't know if there is one. You may also need goldcard.
And lastly , I would suggest to give in service centre rather than purchasing xtc clip. Because it is not confirmatory that you can solve it after making s-off by xtc clip. And moreover s-off by xtc clip will not enable fastboot flashing by default.
