HTC Magic dead after instal new radio - HELP

Hi. I wanted to install a new radio on my phone. I downloaded the file, changed its name to update.zip, threw the Micro SD card and flash from the Recovery. After fash phone not start. Show only icon.
Botloader and recovery does not work. I have the original SPL and I do not have ROOT.
HELP ME

You will need a gold card to fix it

Tell us if you can get into the screen that you get with "volume down + power"... If you can get into that screen, then you will be able to update you magic trough the goldcard method...

What do I do if "volume down + power" does not work?

people get those errors cuz of wrong files..
very stupid mistake

if you have windows with right deriver and htc sync, you can try to flash an original RUU , it should work. if you cant download one using you serial number , make a gold card and use another RUU
Edit: maybe there is no ruu for that phone ... then you should ful the ruu by changing rom.zip file to one you know works.

can you fastboot back+power
if so
download recovery from amon_ra making sure its the right one 32a H 32b G
then
open cmd
navigate to your sdk tools folder
fastboot flash recovery c:\(wherever you put recover.img file) (whatever file name is).img
i put mine in sdk tools
so mine will look like
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img
hope this is what you need if not sorry about waisting your time

My HTC MAGIC A6161 from Vodafone
one day the phone comes up with the Vodafone boot screen only and i have only access to FASTBOOT mode and nothing else
does someone know a way to get the original NBH file as it seems the only way to unbrick it so far and of course none of the FASTBOOT commands work and none of the ADB commands work too

define, DO you, or DO YOU NOT have access to fastboot?!? (when you press back&power)
if you have access to fastboot then you're not bricked at all.
if you do not have access to fastboot, recovery (back&power), hboot (vol down&power), or master reset (home&back+power),
and the only thing that is different than your 1st boot screen is when you press trackball+power - blue led turns on, then you are semi bricked.
and you will have to wait for solution, because, there is no solution yet, but will be, very soon...

well i have access to FASTBOOT mode but i can't flash any files through the fastboot commands i get Failed(remote : not allow) and that's because i'm not root anymore and to be root i need to access the recovery mode which i don't have.. so i'm in so many ways stuck ..

That is not because your not root... thats because you have a perfected SPL...

Tell us what the Fastboot screen says. Everything. Anyway, as long as you have access to fastboot and a hackable SPL you should be okay.

i've tried today one of the NBH file on the forum after i created another goldcard and guess what it started installing till it stopped at a very strange part while installing system with an error (partition update fail)
so i tried to look it up but i couldn't find anything useful.
it's almost a week and i'm trying everyday, i've searched and searched and now it comes to this when i'm just one step to finish this nightmare
i'm not going to the service center with my tale between my legs
if someone knows something .. now would be a very good time

@shahwan: Well, that's weird! Have you, by any chance, messed around and flashed a 32B radio? Anyway, you could try this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218 to get an engineerings SPL and then flash another radio (3.22 maybe?) from fastboot.
@misiobot: Remove the battery, put it back, press and hold Volume Down and then press Power. Does this take you to fastboot? If not, what does your screen show? Please give us as many details as possible, we can't guess what the problem is.

well actually it takes me to fastboot mode normally but if i try the fastboot commands to flash anything i get the famous error (remote .. failed)
so it was useless that's why i had to flash the phone with a NBH file and that was my only solution till i got the error (partition update fail) when it tried to install the system, which means that it wasn't successful of course
i even tried another Sd card becaue the one i was using was only 1GB and to create the freaken gold card i had to put the SD card in another functioning phone

I have exactly the same problem as you, I can boot to both HBoot and Fastboot, but I cant flash anything by using fastboot, not even erase the system (remote: not allow) is what I've got, could anyone help on this ?

Either run a RUU or apply a SAPPIMG.zip

I have access to fastboot and recovery so far
I have tried many firmwares in this radio as well as 6.xx radio new one. Had no problems so far. I was running a ROM on this radio itself. Then i wished to switch back to cyanogen latest. So i wiped and tried flashing the following
1/ flashed first - defaged firmware
2/ updated cyanogen 15.1 over it
3/ flashed the port of 32A
After this on booting, phone was stuck @ htc boot screen. So i again came back to recovery, and tried flashing again. This time it said a signature fail on defaged firmware file as well as other files in it.
Tried few times and still same issue.
Tried formatting sd card mounting on phone - recovery usb. but then after that it is no more detecting. I tried partitioning fat32, ext2-512mb, swap 32mb, manually through paragon and put again, still memory card not detecting. I get similar errors
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0
p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)

I dont know how it went from S-OFF to S-ON. And that is the reason why fastboot was not accepting anything
Then to update recovery i did adb push to /sdcard and then flashed from there. And then i got my recovery updated to 1.6.2. This confirms somewhere phone is able to write to memory card through adb, but i cannot use recovery to flash from it. memory card has no prob neither phone hardware
Still no use, memory card is not detected + cannot flash files.
My current scenario
-- my radio and spl is correct, i have recovery lates 1.6.2
-- phone has no rom now
-- i can access fastboot and recovery
-- my signatures - S-ON so cannot use fastboot to flash anything
-- memory card not detecting, tried 1-2 memory cards. All detecting on pc

didnt you forgot to flash samming.img? BEcause without that, it wont turn off. Try flash again, use a gold card if doesnt work. Download from here:

I did not forget to flash that, it was not something i wanted. My phone was a completely rooted phone with everything running perfect. I was just reinstalling cyanogen from start.
Regarding goldcard, I couldnot find my sdcard CID, so could not create it.

create a new one. Create gold card from the recovery option. You can coonect your SD card to your computer with the phone in recovery mode, there is a MS Connect menu, select that one. you can get the CID and do the process again.
If i were you i would run HTC update from a SPL edition wich would be able to root and do all over again for safe keeping.

how to create gold card from recovery ? my memory card is anyway not mounting on recovery now
regarding getting cid, on memory card reader i couldnot get cid, maybe my card reader is not worth providing such info
thirdly, i have tried updating using original ruu, it fails in the stage of update where it says rebooting into bootloader.
I tried the same in fastboot mode, normal mode and recovery. Nothing works, except 1 change that in fastboot mode, it turns the phone to stuck at the fastboot screen and i have to pull out battery.
Any other options ?

There is a option called: "USB MS-Toggle" activate it , From that option you can get a CID without any problem and recover everything

I dont know whether its my english that u r nt following or you dint read my post carefully. i had mentioned in my posts that it is not mounting my memory card. In recovery when i do that i get an error

Just as we do any flashing. put to sd card and flashed through recovery in this order(PLZ READ MY FIRST POST COMPLETELY)
1. defaged firmware
2. cyanogen latest update over it (without rebooting)
3. 32A port

what did you had before as radio ? Hboot? Etc
Have you tried to download a oficially signed from HTC Hboot and in fastboot flashing it ?

try the following to see if works.
1)Link your Phone to your computer, run it in fastboot mode.
2)Run a HTC update (choose anyone)
3)Click next until the update confirmation part.
4) run %temp% and you'll find Rom.zip and rom1.zip , copy to a folder and unzipit. Close the update app.
5) collect the following files:
userdata.img
system*.img
Splashe*.nb0
recovery.img
radio.img
hboot*.nb0
boot.img
(The ons with * are the version of the following update you are applying)
6) Zip to a samppimg.zip, put on the SD card and enter in HBoot mode (Volume down+power)
PS: i dont know if works, and it might become worst but try at your own risk. Never passed throught that situation. Last optiion read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655097 and follow the JTAG Hack option. I Dont know any other way.

Cant root/update my HTC Magic .- S

Hi all, (first time posting)
I am trying to root my HTC Magic but so far nothing has succeded.
What I want:
I want +1.6 firmware and to be able to use 2.x OS with the newest apps in Android Marked. So far there is alot of apps not present when using firmware 1.5.
What I have tried:
I have created a "Goldcard" successfully but when Iam trying to update with the 2.53.707.2_-_sappimg (renamed to SappIMG.zip) it says "Main version is older" - update failed.
In Recovery Mode it wont continue, it just stock with the !(picture), i cant seem to get any menu up to flash and choose any recovery files.
Ive tried to downgrade:
from RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.3_release_signed_NoDriver
to RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.1_test_signed_NoDriver
I have used the all the guides I could fine to create Goldcards, recovery images. Using fastboot commands to flash from windows etc etc. Everytime I use fastboot write commands I keept saying fastboot failed, remote: not allow

I think, if it says "Main version is older", that you have not successfully created your goldcard. This happened to me when I rooted. I made two mistakes, which I can share.
1) Some SD cards cannot be edited to make goldcards. I had a sandisk, that I thought was making a goldcard, but it was not. However, when I used the same procedure on a kingston 2 gig, it worked perfectly.
2) The SD card that will become your goldcard must be in the phone when you type the "cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid" command. Otherwise, you will not make the correct goldcard.
I hope my mistakes can help you.

I also have this error.
* Phone details is exactly the same.
* GoldCard seems to be fine (is there a way to check it?) I bought a brand new 2GB Kingston.
* Fastboot gives the error failed, remote: not allow
* flash_image recovery recovery.img gives the error error opening recovery.img, no such file or directory
* When I reboot with adb shell reboot recovery I get to FASTBOOT USB in red and HTC Magic in white on a black screen. I guess this means I haven't gotten the recovery image installed.
* If I run ROM Manager from ClockworkMod I no longer get the Can only be run as root, but I get an error running privileged commands ?
* If I try Flashrec I can download the recovery image, but nothing else will happen. It will not backup anything or run anything I put in there.
* It doesn't matter if I enter anything in cmd in windows 7 or if I run it in an emulator window in the cell phone itself.
So where I stop is I seem to not get the recovery image started.
Any help? I'm all out of ideas!

If your getting Main Version is older, then your goldcard is hosed. The purpose of the goldcard is to bypass the version check. Format your goldcard to FAT32 and do not do a quick format (if you do it from Windows) and start over. This guide worked like a charm for me.

Can I install Custom ROM on my Legend that already has S-OFF

So here's the thing. I've been trying to downgrade and root my Android 2.2 Legend for many hours now and have been failing as the adb could not push the flash_image and misc1-2.img files for reasons unknown to me (said adb: not found despite the files being there).
Anyways, I rebooted into the Fastboot mode and found that my phone's NAND is unlocked as the fastboot says S-OFF. I thought of giving another try by temp rooting with Visionary+ and then trying to Perm Root it. To my surprise, after rebooting and even uninstalling Visionary+, apps requiring root access function properly. Does this mean Legend 2.2 with HBOOT 1.01 has been permanently rooted?
I also installed the ROM Manager and it did manage to install the ClockworkMod. However, whenever I try to back up my current firmware, it says backup cache could not be found.
Also, I wanted to know since its showing that my phone is rooted and has ClockworkMod, will I be able to install ROM without any issues?

If it says adb: not found then you probably don't have problems with the files to be flashed not found but with the adb binary not found.
In older versions of the Android SDK it was in tools directory but since r09 it is in platform-tools instead.
Many of the guides found in the internet refer to the old directory names.
From your HBOOT Screenshot you can perfectly see that your phone is S-OFF.
Did you install Clockworkmod permanently already? (e.g. when you reboot your phone into recovery mode from hboot screen you have clockworkmod recovery and not the default Attention sign)
If yes, then you should be fine installing a custom rom from the rom manager or by hand.
The problems with backuping your current firmware using the nandroid backup that comes with clockworkmod fails here too, though I don't know why.
Maybe you want to just backup your settings with Titanium Backup instead of the whole rom.

IIRC, The S-OFF dev did ask for 24 hours access to an HBOOT1.01 phone to pull off everything he needed and have a play then he'd look at S-OFF for 1.01. See the original S-OFF thread.

I can boot into recovery mode from hboot screen but I have to enter by pressing Vol Up + Power button to enter as clockworkmod shows an exclamation mark in a triangle.
When I enter the recovery mode, it shows E:can't open /cache/recovery/command.
Also, can anyone tell me what will wipe cache partition do in recovery?
I'm willing to help if any Legend dev wants to know more about my phone's Hboot 1.01 with S-off.

I tried installing a custom firmware but I can't as the Legend reboots and shows an icon of installing from the microSD and stopping mid-way with a question mark.
I was trying to install Blayo's latest ROM

Hboot 1.01.s-off. Now, that's a new thing. It'll be good if you can help devs on the hboot side with your s-off.

Maybe this could work:

Power off phone, Connect your phone to PC, Hold back button while turning phone on (to get to fastboot mode)

Please help me
I have pretty good understanding of rooting procedures and custom roms, I have put custom roms on about 10 different phone models, including one previous HTC (CHA CHA)
Tried to flash custom rom, everything goes ok but the phone displays white logo with htc symbol and stays like that.
I still have access to bootloader and cwm recovery.
Sometimes cwm recovery displays message :
E: cant mount cache:recovery/command
E: cant mount CACHE:recovery/log
e:cant open CACHE:recovery/log
Sometimes it does not show though.
I've read that it may be beacuse of emmc chip which gets damaged during taking the battery off when the phone is working.
What to do now ? I tried flashing different roms but nothing happens, when flashing them from CWM i get no error messages,
but when i reboot I get the white screen with htc logo.
Please help ... ;(

I got this desire HD from my friend, he wanted me to put some unofficial 4.0 rom on it.
I remember from when I had htc cha cha that you should first do dev unlock.
Trying to do dev unlock, I selected european RUU but ruu update program told me that it can not be upgraded.
Somewhere on forums , I've read that I could just continue with procedure.So I did.
I got the codes, sent them to HTC and they mailed me the bin file.I got the prompt about unlocking on the phones display, i choose to unlock it.
Then i flashed clockwork mod on it via terminal.
Then i downloaded custom rom and flashed it , but i just get white screen.
Bad thing is I have not made backup (

You have to flash the boot.img separately when flashing roms on a HTC dev unlocked device. That's why it doesent start after a flash. Get it relocked and get S-OFF instead. Search "advanced ace hack kit attn1" on goggle and use it.
Get the ruu for your device and run it from fastboot menu then get S-OFF with advanced aace hack kit.

OK I have found the aahk thing you told me, when I get home I will try to relock it (usin fastboot oem unlock command ? )
then to unlock the s-on thing....

I send the fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin command and on prompt it says ok but on the phone nothing happens
Also, under device manager phone is registered as android 1.0
anyone help please

I get ok messages , but nothing happens on the screen of the phone
I repaired the drivers, when i enter other fastboot commands, like reboot, device reacts.

I got this problem solved with help from irc channel of aahk ... big big thans to them...they gudied me to downgrade and flash the stock rom
i saved the log I can send it to who needs it...

To flash a custom rom with an unlocked bootloader you have to flash the rom in CWM first and then flash the boot.img of the rom in fastboot.
Follow this:
Get the boot.img file from inside the .zip file and place it in the PC, somewhere where u can easily find it.
Put the zip in the sdcard
Boot in CWM. Full wipe and flash the rom
Go to advaced options and reboot bootloader
Toggle to fastboot and plug the phone to the PC (you will see fastboot usb in red)
Open a CMD as admin or Terminal as root in the PC
Navigate in CMD to the folder where the boot.img file is located
Type: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then reboot, and you should be ok....:good:
