something weird - Atrix 4G General

go to the home screen and have your finger sliding to the next home screen but do it at an angle and do it toward the bottom of the screen and move your finger down to the four buttons and you can flip homescreens with your finger on the buttons . still detects your finger moving when its not even touching the the screen really ,

Lol that's cool but not weird

its designed like that. Technically the touch sensitive part of the screen goes all the way down past the buttons.

I have the same exact "issue". At first I was worried, but when I realized that it does not affect functionality in any way I stopped worrying.
It's in the lower left part on the bezel below the screen and it manifests as a bit of a flex when I press that part a bit harder. The screen is not loose, it just flexes a bit under the finger.
i am starting to worry about general build quality...
and still no response from samsung.
that is a manufacturers defect. you should be able to return and exchange it.

Thumbpad

Hello
I noticed that on my mytouch 4g that the thumb pad is not out evenly meaning that the bottom has no depth too the phone while the top has about 2-3 mm.
Is this normal?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Mine is like that as well and could have swore that it rose up the same amount all the way around...didn't really notice til I went to the beach and got some grains of sand in the crevices around the buttons and the trackpad was giving me issues. It works fine now so not too worried about it...

Yes its normal, the bottom of the phone curves up, therefore leaving less of the trackpad showing on the bottom... (put ur eye level with the side of ur phone and you can see what I'm talking about)

Setting Brightness ... sliding across Notification bar..

I know A LOT of people know this.. you can slide your finger accross the notification bar to set the screen brightness when auto brightness is turned off.
Well something I found out today.. you don't slide at all.. you can.. but you just got to pick a spot on the notification bar and long press. So you want it at 50%, long press in the middle.
This is a lot better too... more sensitive.

I didn't know either of these features so thanks for this post

Works for me on PWGB beta 3. This is why I like Android so much, the hidden little tricks and short cuts.
just the old trick. I find this tip potential more than 2 months ago on youtube

[Q]Nexus 4 touch sensitivity sucks

Coming from an s3 I was able to use my finger nail if I wanted to click on stuff and scroll. No joke I can post a video lol.
Just got my nexus four tonight and I love the phone overall but the touch sensitivity is really bad. Any ideas how I can improve it?

There's a mod in one of the Dev forums... I haven't used it but it seems to be working for those that have installed it.

Lol You're fingernail at the time you were using your s3 must have been short, thus allowing your finger as well to touch the screen without you noticing it. And now that you use your nexus 4, you're fingernail is long again..
P.S. Peace I come in peace

Lol ... No. Actually used the back of nail where no skin would be able to touch.
On the n4 I press as hard as I want with my nail and it won't click anything.

This topic doesn't make sense. How does the screen suck when nails aren't supposed to be able to work on a capacitive screen normally?

I never said the screen sucks. I said the touch sensitivity does. And I was using my nail as a comparison between the s3 and n4 screen touch sensitivity.
Your reading and comprehension sucks.

Really? What are you touching then when you're testing the sensitivity? Do you even understand how capacitive screens work?
The sensitivity mod allows you to tap with the back of fingernail (i know i tried lol). It uses the earlier touch driver, but it does have the side affect of making the phone stall for a minute or more when first booted up; but if used with the supplied modded stock kernel you only have this happen once, also 'Matr1x' kernel also has this feature.

Everything and anything on my phone.
Even if I put my finger on the screen slowly without adding too much pressure it will not recognize the touch...try it.
I guess I'm just used to the s3 really sensitive touch screen.

Can you scroll on your home screen or click on apps with your finger nail?
Can you tap on an app with your finger ever so slightly, but definitely make contact with the glass, on an app icon or keyboard, and no action happens? Meaning the app doesn't open or the letter pressed isn't typed in...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I can scroll with the back of my fingernail, and can open apps with a very small amount of pressure. I don't see why I would use my fingernail anyway

Is it possible I got a defect or what? Did you flash the mod...

I can't do either. My sensitivity is really bad. It's really annoying when I'm typing so fast and half the letters pressed don't register.

Wow most of you are assholes.. I stopped reading after the 3rd negative response. Does anyone know what an example is? That is what the OP was saying when they said they could select things with their fingernail. It does not mean that they want it to do that but only showing an example of its sensitivity that their other phone had and I can tell you that you CANNOT do this on the Nexus 4 unless you push somewhat. My GS2 would scroll with no issues by grazing the screen I actually have to push before doing the mod.
There is a temp fix and it works fairly well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028289

Knock On...sometimes good/bad response

Why?
I mean... sometimes it response on two knocks and sometimes i need four or more....
Have you seen the same ?
Yep, it's pretty normal.
I assume with it being a new feature it's not properly optimized properly if thats right word for it.
If LG get their ass into gear we may see a fix for it. And I mean IF.
No, but i have noticed a trick with it. If you put your hand over the top area of the screen, and then try to knock on. It will not work no matter what until you move your hand. I believe it is a sensor.

Try slow double tap or fast triple tap, it goes better for me
Try it at center of your screen
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
I feel if you "face" the device and tap it works all the time.
I have noticed the same thing across the top bar. I thought it was the camera controlling it, but it is just that my finger was barely on the screen itself. So far a great feature!!
-Matt
Yes the feature is one of the reasons I bought the G2. I'm always thinking I'm going to wear out the power button. LoL

tapping at the top of the screen where the status/notification bar would be works 100% of the time. at least for me.
I knock 3x. Works all the time
Thanks for the double at the top of the screen hint - works great now
What's worse is accidentally switching on the screen by simply handling the phone and it recognizing your "handling" as knock ons.
Yes, the proximity sensor will keep it from working. Since i have been more aware of this it works much better. Even if i have the phone in landscape and have my thumb on the slightest edge of the screen it will not work. U dont have to be over it. Just close will keep it from working.
