There is no 4.1.87...............There is a 4.1.83............Maybe that's the problem?

Unfreeze/thaw everything you have frozen. The update will abort if you have any Moto or AT&T files or software frozen.

I thought when i do the "factory reset" it should be all reseted and unfrozen / unrooted ?

I thought that but frozen apps will remain so and you have lost root by then so can't thaw them. This stopped me updating to 4.1.57 when it was in beta. Had to flash 4.1.26 sbf before I could update. Factory reset didn't do it.

Thanks guys. The 1.83 sbf worked fine for me.

Please help me! apply_patch_check failure when updating to 4.1.2

I have kepy my Nexus 7 fairly stock - it's just been unlocked and rooted with Clockwork recovery.
However, when I try to apply the 4.1.2 update, I get the following:
Code:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/Wallet.apk" ,"(numbers)", "(more numbers)")
Because I am in the UK, I did play with a modified version of Google wallet for a while.
I got this message during both OTA update process or by manually trying to install the update apk.
I deleted the modified wallet.apk from system/app and then used Market enabler to install the "official" google wallet app.
Still no luck.
I then tried clearing dalvik and cache, and an entire factory reset.
Still get the above error message.
So does anyone know how a file that doesn't even exist anymore in /system/app is causing the error?
Any clever ideas on what to do next?
You put this in the wrong section. This should be in Q/A. Are you tring to update through OTA, or a manual update through CWM?

Tried both ways, same result both times.
OTA update rebooted me straight into CWM recovery, and with the manual update method, I booted into CWM recovery and tried to apply the downloaded apk.
The wallet.apk needs to be in system/app.
Not data/app as it is when installed from the play store.

That was more or less my next option. Although in that case, I'd be more inclined to just directly flash 4.1.2 stock.
Hi!
Did you have any luck installing the update???
I'm getting the same error but for youtube.apk!!!

Hope this helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945938

Error updating to 4.2.2

The 4.2.2 update for my Nexus 7 came OTA today, but did not complete due to an unspecified error. Now my N7 says there are no updates available when I have it check, but according to my "About Tablet" screen, I'm still at 4.2.1. I tried manually installing the update, but to no avail.
I'm using ClockworkMod 6.0.2.3 as my recovery tool, and the name of the file I used to attempt to manually update is 6ece895ecb23.signed-nakasi-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.6ece895e.zip. I also attempted a factory reset to start over, but this has been unfruitful as well. Same with installing the 4.2.2 ROM through ROM Manager v5.5.2.1 and downgrading to 4.1.
Results from manual updating through ClockWorkMod Recovery:
Sideload started...
Now send the package you want to apply
to the device with "adb sideload <filename>"...
Restarting adb...

Wow... this hasn't been covered ad nauseum already. You didn't even have to search... there are already multiple current threads in which it is clearly and concisely laid out.
Its because you modified the system. The update is a patch- if any of the files that it must verify before patching are not 100% stock, it will fail. Flash the stock image.

[Q] Nexus 4 won't upgrade to 4.2.2 in any way

[Q] OTA failed and displayed dead Android saying Error! Tried to sideload the zip file using Toolkit 1.6.8 and it didn't go through. Tried to load it using TWRP and this is what I get:

I'm running rooted stock ROM, never tried anything else so I don't know how I could have messed up something.
Thanks for any ideas!

Flash a stock rom and install the OTA through adb sideload with adb and not by a toolkit, worked for me. After that reroot. Also read this thread well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848.

No, never. I just wiped the phone and installed stock 4.2.2 using the Toolkit and now it won't boot.
EDIT: I guess that's because the Toolkit doesn't support 4.2.2. Oh well just flashed it using ADB. Hope I can get all my app data back...

[Q] N7 2012 4.4.3 Update Failing

Hi,
I have a rooted stock Nexus 7 2012, I'm trying to update it to 4.4.3 from 4.4.2 but it keeps failing.
The update downloads, I hit install, it reboots into CWM Recovery, I select the option to install an 'untrusted zip', the update begins and then fails due to the following error:
"/system/app/bluetooth.odex" has unexpected contents.
I've tried flashing the OTA using CWM and forcing the OTA update using Nexus Update Checker and both have failed with the same error.
I'm no longer being prompted for the update either but I'm still on 4.4.2.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rich

The error message about unexpected contents is a giveaway that you need to flash the 4.4.2 system.img, then you'll be able to flash the OTA.

Ah ok. Will that not screw up my root and also cause problems with some of my apps?

No problem. Apps and data remain. After installing the OTA update, you may lose root but you can get it right back.

I dont know what version TWRP it is because TWRP wont come up anymore
All i can get into is the Bootloader or the Standard Recovery
also my droid x is having a issue to power on it just has a green light on when you charge it
when you take it off the charger to turn it on nothing happens.
