hardware buttons in development for wp7.There is such an app in android and its very useful too(button savior).I'm concerned because phone that comes with wp7 in it usually doesnt use the hardware switch buttons which i find can cause alot of wear and tear to the existing hardware switch buttons on the hd2,im sorry if this question has been posted before.

nope and i doubt there will be, need to remember that the HD2 wasnt ment to get this, any design consideration to the number of button pushes the HD2 was going to get was in relation to WM6 which didnt have all that many compared to android and WP. perhaps someone could work something in but i doubt it will happen any time soon and it wont be available via the marketplace, unlocked devices only id imagin. To be honest tho, ive been using this for months with some very heavy usage and ive not noticed anything in the way of the buttons not working.

keyboard button problem (not symbols)

I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with individual keys wearing out on the 6800. Three of my keys have become a little difficult to use. When I press them they act as if they have not been pressed. I have to press the many times before they will work.
I've tried googling but the only problem people seem to be having is the "symbol problem". My problem is different from this - it is a mechanical problem. The phone is only 6 months old and I use it regularly but not excessively.
I'm thought about taking the phone apart to see if there is anything that I can do.
I have the exact same issue, mostly with the space bar... some keys would take pushing it several before it works or sometimes I would press the key once and I get two letters, for example if I press E once I get EE.
Let me know if you find a solution for this, it's extremely annoying.
sounds like normal wear and tear to me. if you use a button alot, eventually its going to start working less efficiently than it used to. there are a bunch of good (free) full screen keyboards that you can use to give your keyboard a rest. taking apart your phone is a really bad idea. if you've only had it for 6 months, its still under 1 yr manufacturer warranty. send it in and get a new one.
thanks so much for the quick response, this might be a stupid question, but how do I exchange my phone? It's a Sprint Mogul.
probably the most direct way is to head into a Sprint store. and try your best to talk to them like you know what youre talking about, so they dont try to jerk you around. when i was using the xv6700, i got 9.. yes 9 replacement phones on my manufacturers warranty. if there is nothing to show that YOU have damaged the keys, they have to replace the phone for you.
try this, it fixed my key misses and repeats, but i have to hit the keys a bit harder.
Unfortunately, 'titan_key.cab' does not fix my problem

Thanks for the file...unfortunately, the problem persists on my Mogul.
Has anyone found a solution that makes the hardware keyboard perform as it did BEFORE the last official ROM upgrade was released into the wild. Installation of that [allegedly] tested and approved HTC/Sprint file coincided with my beginning to experience my KB problems.
HELP?!

[Q] Wake-up HTC Leo Device ?

Is it technical possible ?
You know like on old mobile phones - alarm clock wakes up device and you hear Alarm even if your phone was turned off.
I think such modern processors definitely must support wake-up functions and it's independent from WM OS.
Would like to hear answers from knowing people.
Thanks.

Nice question, that keeps on popping up for new WM-users...
For the moment it is impossible, due to many hardware design-changes that would be necessary and these would produce a severe amount of OS-standard-changes. (clock/poweron has to be abstracted as device, kept in synch with old-fashioned internal clock for compatibility, etc)
If M$ decides for this fundamental hardware-addon/change for WM7, (as I would do if I were they), I will throw in some discussing charged elements:
The HTC HD2 will not fully comply to WM7 standards, due to missing standards
OR
HTC has already accessed M$ holy white papers for WM7 and already made it pre-compliant. (I would doubt this)
In the end, it will be a guess, if no HTC engineer clicks in here.... but for now at WM6.5 stage - a simple NO is all I can tell.
MS have already published the WM7 compliance specs, and none of this is in there, people have been asking for it (not sure why?) since WinCE4 days (WM2003/WM2003SE) and MS have done nothing to add it.
Like I say, not sure why you would want the device off? if you dont want it to ring etc, just put it in flight mode, hardly uses any battery in that mode anyhow.
Like I say though, it's not coming anytime soon, if ever, and a lot of other 'smartphone' OS's dont have it either.
Hello,
Thanks for your answers.
Really... I thought this "wake-up" functions is platform independent. Anyaway I'm pretty sure Processor chips support this function. MS doesn't make they own chips. So I suspect it's how that Windows Mobile BIOS is built.
Or I'm wrong?
The Windows Mobile platform does not use a BIOS as such, that functionality is taken over by the SPL layer of the device (and the Radio Stack in some parts)
So, nope. Like I said though, why do you want it? Android and iPhone don't do it either, so it's not like its a WinMo only thing (some of the latest Nokia's dont do it either)

Maybe you're right, cause with turned off display my phone power consumption is very low.
But I consider it's a useful function.
I had an accident when someone stole my old Nokia 7210. That person turned off phone, but I was able to find it because I've heard alarm sound, which played. =)

Spose, however just use Exchange or MyPhone and you can get the location of the device back over the web much easier

[Q] Vogue: Bootloader Mode Help

Hi,
I have an HTC Vogue/Touch that is missing the power button. The previous owner broke it. I was able to flash to a custom WM because the software forces it into bootloader mode.
However, I have flashed Android 2.2 to the phone and now want to revert to a custom WM or the stock WM 6.1 because Android is buggy. As far as I can tell from the forums the only way to flash back to a WM rom is by getting into bootloader mode (not possible with a busted power button) or through activesync (not possible with Android).
Any suggestions? I was thinking if I could run WM from the SD card that may be enough to get an activesync connection, but I haven't been able to find anything that suggests thats possible.
Thanks

have you disassembled the housing at all? you may be able to get it working again or long enough if you take off the front cover and press the real switch on the pcb.
Please don't post questions in the Dev area. Thread moved to General.

I did disassemble it. Unfortunately the real switch is broken as well. I may be able to reflow the solder but I'm inexperienced in that area and was hoping for an alternative. Thanks for the suggestion.
So you can see the two solder points?
Short them together.

I have a Vogue with the same problem. I even saved the switch in case I feel adventurous enough to try and fix it at some point (I think I will end up using it for spares though)

[Q] HD2 buttons slowly stopped working

Hey gurus!
I have had my HD2 since opening day! Actually tmobile replaced it after a bit because of some defect (cant remember). I have since unlocked and installed gingerbread and then ice cream. The buttons had stopped being very responsive since WM 6.5. The power button has since stopped working and the other buttons are hit and miss. i really liked gingerbread and wanted to move back but want my phone to be useful. I am thinking I have to replace the hardware (digitizer?). Does anyone have a good guide (set of instructions) that might be able to assist me with this. I want to keep the phone and fix it myself. I have searched the internets and found a few things. I have been paroozing these forums for a long time now and trust you guys most. Any recommendations are welcome. I am a L1 Linux admin so am not the biggest noob ever....just a noob. I say that so you might be able to judge my tech ability.
Thanks in advance for the assist.
Dave
You don't have to replace digitizer in order to get your hardware buttons(Call, Home, Menu, Back, End/Power) work again: indeed you have to remove combo(LCD+digitizer/touchscreen) from the chassis(after taking apart your hd2) in order to replace hardware buttons flex(this is located between chassis and combo).
This is no simple action, but watching some videos(try to watch as more as you can) and with attention&care you'll finally get the job done.
Good luck!:fingers-crossed:

touch screen non responsive

Hey guys...not sure if anyone still use this phone lol
My phone has been acting up. When I want to unlock the screen it won't let me drag the screen at all, even during usage the windows button/back button is not responsive.

Anyone know what to do about this at all??
Thanks for any help!

It could be a bug associated with touch driver version, you could try loading a new rom or update the version you already have, you will need to read a bit before hand but once you get into it it really is easy, it depends which details you find in the tri-color screen and if you are ready to get HSPL or if you need to downgrade first and install custom rom etc. !!
if this doesn't help then it is probably in need of a replacement touch screen but knowing HTC never guaranteed to be perfect and bug free on a new screen, if you think it is still worth the effort, definitely worth buying 100% original HTC screen as opposed to the chinese crap !!

i am still using this phone among others and has always been a good solid phone for me, just updated with the NWA 7.8 rom which is in the development section, if you aren't worried about the phone anyway, there is no harm in having a go with custom roms !!!!
if you switch off the phone and then hold volume down button while switching on ( don't let go of the volume button ) it will take you to the tricolor screen, you will have written SPL, if you tell me that number, i can then tell you whether it will be the easy method or the slightly more involved method !!!
