Hello
Ive been using the [Dec 30][NAND][DFT]LEO "Stock Desire" NAND Android ROM
for the past few days fine. Ive been loving it, ive even donated money its that good. but last night I check and my battery was at 51% and this morning I found it was turned off and flat.
Ive got perfect signal no wifi. Only facebook syncing contacts and background apps. Ive only got twitter and facebook install on this build. The other nights have been fine.
Radio version 2.15
Any one else had this problem? Do I need to move on to a different rom or apply this fix??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895268
Any help would be superb
Cheers
Baker0
On WindowsMobile, for me it was Facebook. After disabling auto update I never had problems with Battery any more.
Just try it with facebook disabled. If its not go step by step disabling software until you find the one causing it.
Check your current widget to get a better idea of what's happening. You probably have more apps on then you think

FIXED
it looks like BatStat Battery Widget was the problem. I was idle at 120mA. So I uninstalled and applied prj's kernel v0.3 now im idling at 2-5mA. Perfect with all the sync on.

How do you check the power usage like that?
I've got this widget called battery watcher and it shows my usage as 96% android system, 2% cell standby and 2% idle. How can I go about finding what I need to remove?
I'm new to android so not got the hang of the technical stuff yet.

IT's called Android!
It has it's own ways of handling the running applications and memory management. If you kill all apps, and you check 30 minutes later, you will again see a lot of applications loaded...
DFT rom is based on the new toolchain so it has bug which causes 60-70mA battery drain in standby after making a call. Upgrade to Projection's kernel OR use his build if you like the DFT rom. His build is based on that one, but WITH bugfixes
If you try CMN 6.1 NAND BUILD (2.2.1) with Radio 2.15.50.04 you will have good battery drainage.. I fully charged it before 2 days and now i still have 50% with only calls/sms and about 20 min WIFI downloading some apps!
That build is absolutely great!!!!!!!! I never had that great battery drainage with SD builds!!!!
Btw, i am an EU HD2 user!

This is the fastest and smoothest ROM I've tired yet, but it got problems with GPS. If you don't turn GPS off after using it, you'll get ~57mA battery drain in standby. Easy to do as you got the gps widget in the dropdown menu
Good for me cause i don't use GPS!
And yes, it sucks to much from your battery!
Now i have 49% after 2 days with 49:12:44 up time!

Hi there
I just like to share my experience with battery drain in both JVK and JVB and give you a possible fix.
I experienced battery drain both in jvk and jvb and when you go setting - battery check, I would see high android OS - up to 60 percent which just drank the juice out of my phone.
I've decided to test all the apps, deleting one by one in order to locate which app was causing this problem and I found it to be "software update".
So here is a possible fix for you guys who are experiencing similar problem.
Go to setting - manage apps - all apps - find software update - delete data
In both JVK and JVB it solved my battery drain problem almost instanly.
I also did battery recalibration but doubt it played any part.
I hope above method will solve the battery drain problem.
P.S
does anyone know what exactly software update does?
and how to delete it completely off the phone.
I doubt I will be using OTA update or anything like that since I'm a big fan of odin.
Cheers
thanks man.
i'm checking it out, i really hope this solution works!
this is my second night in a row, where im going to sleep with exactly 89 percent battery and when i got up i saw the phone is at 8 percent.
made me so pissed i wanted to go back to my sony-erricsson from 2005

Hmm, this "fix" was kinda known a long time ago? (you can see it even in the thread called something with Android OS and few more) http://goo.gl/Hpc5a . And I think its the OTA update which does nothing currently. Hmm, am confused about your question. You ask what it does then you say you wont need it anyway .
And for example freeze it with titanium backup? Now when click the option it does nothing (no fc and phone works normally)

anyone know how to delete this software update apk??
Do you read what I wrote? The same way you can freeze it, you can delete it... Best with titanium backup, should be foolproof enough. Do a backup before etc.
Deleted the data and also the apk! Nothing changed

So you are wrong here . This thread is like the other ones for the ppl with high Android OS usage. 9 percent is ok.
Well if display is 61 , how many hours on? And what else is there? More data we need.
When I was on JVK, I was able to fix the android OS problem but had another one where after playing a graphically intense game, the CPU would not ramp back down when the phone went to sleep. That was draining the battery a lot for me and the only way to fix it was to reboot the phone. I'm back on 2.2.1
Disabling software update seems to not work for me also, im using stock Ginger (latest version - probably final) and after 1-2 days after flash Android os is taking 70% of battery :/
Looks like software update isnt the issue.

I lost the data about it, but i have the screens about the test i made yesterday and the one i made today morning. Yesterday it was for the most time in standby with data off , and today i tried to leave it 3h in standby without touch it.
I lost 10% !! in 3h !! WITHOUT DATA! is really too much! With the 2.2.1 i used to lost 1% every 2-3 hours! ! And as you can see in the first day , in the last part i tried to use it (ONLY FOR READ A MANGA , so only img on the sd and i had the brightness to 20% ) O_O !

The bugfix worked in my case!
I charged my phone to 100% in the forenoon (~11:00am) and I only had 21% left at 7:20 pm.
Now it's 11:30 pm and I still have 20% after I removed the data of the OTA-Update app.

Definitely no battery drain here. Auto-rotation and GPS is ON all the time, played orientation-based and 3d-intensive games multiple times, used Google Maps (just had a nice tour today here in Japan )
By the way I haven't charged yet since I installed this rom 2 days ago.
samsung finally solved it or you did not have the problem before?
same for me right now i am at 1day and 8 hours with wifi on the whole time 3 hrs of calling and texting ,few games, radio etc i always have had the battery drain in the previous roms so this one is looking good
No drain here. With one charge phone now survives two days of intense use.
(stock JVP, dark core kernel, stock bloatware removed, ext4 lagfix)
I surely had it before that is why I started this infamous thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039696
No unusual drain here.
In fact this is the best battery efficiency out of any rom (except stock 2.1) I've used. Down to 64% after 24hrs with pretty low usage, which is subjective. To put it in perspective I rarely got past 24hours with typical usage on any 2.2 rom.

Well, it depends on personal preference , but for me bloatware is software that I will never use, or use someting else instead of the preinstalled one, for exaple : layer, mini diary, write and go, thinkfree office, stock audio player, swype, stock gallery app, samsung apps, touchwiz+widgets, live wallpapers, dual clock, etc.
Of course you need root, and titanium backup to remove, or you can delete the apk`s manually with root explorer, just don`t remove crucial stuff. You can search on google, or in the forums for a list of files, that can be safely removed.

Yea, I had my suspicions it had something to do with CM7. I saw quite a few posts on the interwebz about people having battery troubles with GW and was curious as to why I wasn't having any trouble. Everything was gravy on stock 2.3.5 with the 2.3.7 update, and on my current ROM, Pete's GPA18 Beta.
I was running stock 2.3.7 for a few days and was also running into battery drain issues with Google wallet, where according to the battery use utility it was using upwards of 36% of the battery at the end of the day after simply opening the wallet app, not even after actually using it. There is probably a few bugs in the software as it was just newly released so look for Google making some updates in what I assume will be the near future.
Happened to me too today. I noticed subsequently trying to open it that it didn't want to "unlock" either until a reboot.

I have the same problem. Here's what I posted in the Google wallet possible fix thread.
Anyone having any battery issues with this? I flashed this last night and I'm down to 45% battery in 7 hours with Google wallet using 52% of my battery and a keep awake time of 4 hours and 34 minutes....
