YukiXDA got NoDo working! - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

This deserves an epic thread of its own. =)
I am flabbergasted how one person can do this while it takes DFT um, who knows?
Maybe DFT is working on MANGO already and we all thought it was NoDo.
Maybe the joke was on us all along.

All I know is I'm so glad it's available, I've been checking these forums everyday for this. But of course now my internet is down, joke's on me, lol.

Will check it out.

So now you can close your thread: 'DFT got NoDo working' ? :-D

i have a feeling that dft's release will be epic...prolly because it will come with the new magldr, and its been about 4 months since they first released the intial wp7 rom, so hopefully the camera and multitouch bugs are gone. the official thread of dft wp7 did say "beta"

im not suprised if they did. but they are DFT and not the chevron team who went out loud in public and got their @$$ sold out just to keep their fingers tied down.

does the new version have the original blue theme or is it still dark blue?

when I dont know , but the DFT release will be different from this one.
first: the dft nodo build will be updateble
secondly: the dft build wont have overlaps on the modules.
so this release is cool but the one from dft will be the bomb
and don't forget one thing , the people on the dft team are doing this in there free time and they only release stuff that is 100% noob prove and that is way they always take there time.

It's not updatable by zune for the moment since DFT has chosen to don't use the same blocksize as other WP7 roms
Edit: and I'm not sure it's a good idea, imagine you connect your HD2 to PC, zune dectect an update available, you'll so happy and this update overwrite some specific drivers for HD2 by some for HD7. poof no way to boot, you lose your data and cry XD
There is few module overlap since we have to keep these modules as they are (specific drivers for HD2) and not include all from the new build. It won't be the same if we could use the IMGFS structure of the new build (the imgfs.bin beside IMGFSFromDump) but we can't because of the different block size lol It's so stupid for now since it's a pretty little changement it magldr
And this cause none problem for now and the rom wouldn't run better if there were not.
Mango, mango, mango... but it's not the problem, I understand people are waiting for this release and since it's the end-user which import they only see that. But it's not the problem, it's just an update of SYS like other. There is a lot knowledge at xda
The MOST important are drivers. HD2 is quietly the same as HD7 but not for few things. And so few drivers we use are specialy compiled tu run WP7 on HD2. For that we have to thanks DFT team a lot since we couldn't have any build at all!!!
And I hope this is their stuff and not HTC test and that they can update them or give the knowledge (or another developper can do the same) otherwise we'll be blocked to update at a moment HD2 since these few modules won't be compatibles with new ones.
Another thing, people can do all tests they want to analyse power consumption between my build or another for nothing. It's not the choice of what we build, nor the registry but a lack of the driver battery.dll (and certainly a problem with the camera driver since theere is a trick) and the battery mdd isn't easily updatable since the module dependencies. And we have only one, only one choice So it'll be the same for any other build expect if DFT or other can achieve a new driver.
The same for multitouch: All build use 8K_touchpdd_res.dll and the problem come from that driver. Same for audio, same for RIL, same for camera.
So the end-user choice of a build for moment is for extra stuff and design lol And waiting for new drivers...

+1 for that.
I appreciate the DFT because they made WP7 on HD2 possible and for nice tool magldr, from what I understand, the only way to run WP7. But now, YukiXDA is the best for getting NoDo to work on HD2 and the most important, he uploaded it himself on XDA and answered us most of our questions (giving us "technical support").

It's not normal to have that battery consumption so if you can't find other way so solve this I suggest you to reinstall the ROM all over again
In the original camera app the only way to focus is switching from camera to video and back to camera, as far as I know

My dear GOD!!!
i dont know why you these guys are so expect the mango!
as Yuki`s words ,yes, it`s just a sys update indeed...
but for me, for these people, who lives on the se of asia, called:"CHINA"...
we just need CHINESE in the rom, for the language, for the input... for everything & everything.
if nodo can do it. I means nodo have my native
language input..
mango is xxxxxxx nothing!!!

I love gibberish rage!!

I'm expecting mango too lol for any reasons. But what I say is that mango updating isn't a problem since we'll have roms from porting sys ONLY if there isn't any conflict with actual specific drivers for HD2.
I undersand your problem, as I've seen one some china topics, DFT or some had achieved to have china keyboard in their build. Mango specific? I don't know. If you search and procure me some knowledge/links etc. I can try to incorporate it.

Release the beta ROM please !!

We all know that the shift project is a bit delayed
Could one of you who have the beta/development ROM please release it, to the community so that those of us who want to cook something can try and see if we can get something out of it. (maby a briked device )
You can use the rom from your device, it will be a good base for a rom. Beta rom only add gps drivers but remove stability from the same base.

sorry thaihugo... but what do you want to say exactly with this... what's these problems? ...and gps drivers provided with beta rom work with both windows mobile and vista? because there are many gps navigation software for tablet pc that works with vista... so we can delete SD card driver problem for the moment... (and i/we can finally use a PC navigator, for windows vista.. )
GPS drivers are also a top priority for me, and that’s one of the main reasons why I would like it!!
And I also hope the shift project have made some small progress with other things that might be of use.

Let's be clear:
HTC release a rom with gps drivers during product development. I think this is the beta ROM. It has many other problem but it has GPS
HTC release final ROM without GPS because it think GPS is not to be added.
Somebody must take the final rom, and add gps drivers from beta rom or from another rom in it.
Nobody actually is doing this. Cmonex will do this, but it seems to take some time.
If you want, you can do it yourself using your own Rom dumped from your shift, and add some gps drivers files.
If somebody want's to do this, I'll be happy to provide any files or reg regarding gps from the rom. Just give me precise name and key.

I believe the whole point of us donating enough money to purchase the 2 units was so that we wouldn't have to do it ourselves.
let us cook
maybe she can't release the beta rom because she need the agreement of htc.
plus htc plan to provide a gps rom update, I suppose they don't want this project on internet.
finaly mains goal of this project could be the sd card, bluetooth wvga
anyway she made the olio sspl userfriendly and we can cook the final snapvue rom. this is already a great achievement !!!

I agree with the main goals above, but that is just me being selfish (I have no use for GPS - though I will no doubt "have" one if it is available - much to my wife's annoyance). I just really really want voice capability. I can not even record a voice note as the mic does not seem to work. Oh well, I do like everything else about the machine. I suppose I can't have my cake and eat it too.

do you honestly believe that htc is trying to stop cmonex from releasing a rom version? shouldn't they tried this when the spl was released? I don't think htc is giving some real sh.t about what's being done down here.
shoudn't microsoft contact the god damned crackers that make cracked versions of windows vista and contribute to millions of $$ lost. Well most probably they don't. By the present time they should have found out that it's useless.
the rom development is simply delayed. For what reason we don't know. But it isn't the alien invaders, the ninja worriors send by htc to kill cmonex or some major plot in the grand scheme of things. It's just delayed. Maybe they want to add more than only gps activation.

I think that Plan B is to sell the crippled shift, ... anyway... I'm thinking about this... it isn't possible to use drivers from another HTC smartphone that use the same CPU, and that use a clean copy of Windows mobile with all hardware unlocked, and make a beta test cooked rom with those drivers for testing purpose..
we just need to know the progress and whats stopping those roms, is it money or is it time or what? coz we are very anxious about the whole thing
what about 6.1??
beta rom is buggy and slow , a good start could be winmo 6.1 in order to mount the 3d driver of the qualcom msn 7200. the actual 5.2.1620 kernel is too slow on the shift. snapvue would be more pleasent to use with the last kernel.
it would be great to make the gps drivers not mandatory, it is a great handicap for people not using it. qualcomm gps ship drain a lot of battery enven if they are not used!!
If you want, you can do it yourself using your own Rom dumped from your shift, and add some gps drivers files.

hem... about the files and reg of gps from the rom... I'm interested, I want to do some "experiments" on my shift...
Give me the name of the files and registry export you want, and I'll zip them here.
How should we know the keys and files we need if we don't know exactly what the rom contains
That is exactly why I would like to look at the rom so i can find out what improvements that are needed to get it up and running, or intergate it to a new rom

There is some download link, but even though i have an account on xda.cn - i can't download because of some credis i suppose (google translator ftw.).

"3 files I've downloaded, to be sure the file is uploaded to the excellent eggs today"
There should be some mirrors soon thanks to one of the xda.cn people
Basically, nobody've tested it yet - too soon i guess.
Google translation from the above site:
HTC HD2 takes all three large-scale system to run successfully WP7
Windows Mobilephone the king of the group, has once again implemented a perfect trial run of WP7,HTC HD2 (parameters), the system has successfully transplanted Android 2.2 onto HD2, and now once again is trying to run WP7 for real, HD2 an emperor once again, becomes a focus of attention.
HTC HD2 performance of mobile phone configuration is in full compliance with the requirements of WP7, the screen has a 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen, built-in 1GHz processor and 500 million pixel camera. From the already listed HTC HD7 (parameters)of view, HD2 processor and the same type HD7, HD2's only drawback is its key design which does not meet the physical requirements of WP7, but it will not stop it from running WP7. Time is drawing near, let us work together to cheer!

[Q] When Will An Update Come Of WP7 On HTC HD2

im waiting like all you guys and wondering that when will the developers launch an upgrade of wp7 on our htc hd2 . The current version is good but the bugs are lowering its ratio of people keeping it for its daily use . It would be great if the developers could tell that when will they launch the upgrade .
+1 for that
please developers update the build and fix bug specially camera focus and green with flash
I guess no update till MS do their update ,maybe due to the fact that not alot of demand compare to Android. Most bugs are WP7 related not HD2.
yes the green colour in camera is so bad . Any idea that when will MS launch the official wp7 for htc hd2 ?

Dude there isnt going to be an update from M$ for teh HD2. We are going to have to wait for the HD7 update to be released before it can be ported to HD2. The update however will close the ability to unlock and use homebrew so people are going to have to decide what they want to do, install early or wait for new unlock hack.
okay well then have to wait for htc hd7 update . when is that expected ? how can i fix the camera issuse ?
Hmm not sure what you mean by green photos have attached a pic I took the other day with the HD2, running WP7, very clear, am very happy with the photo's so far...
Hopefully any future ROMs released for use with the HD2 will have our device listed as a HD7 so registry editing won't be needed, we will have to see what happens!

When you say developers are you referring to M$ or XDA etc?
im refering to MS and Xda both , but i feel more dependent on xda developers as they have proved to be best everytime .
I think he means when will we see an update for the HD2 that sorts out the HD2-specific problems (touchscreen, camera, etc) rather than the update coming from Microsoft for the official OS.
I'd like to think DFT are working on the issues, and aren't just leaving it as-is.

If im not mistaken the original OP in the chinese forums has stated that there is only one rule if we are going to use the ROM >Not asking for updates...And ...yet you all are discussing...This is the reason why i have quit the PSP developing world shortly after i released my first work back in the PHAT days.Everybody acts like DEVS are bound to post a new version ....no they do have a life,in most cases even better than yours and still they find the time to use their hobies to create something for the consumer base...My point being that if your peace of mind is fully working you are going to put up with the bugs, which i dont think are this big of a deal and shut it...
PS- The shear tought that my device is a combination of 3 nearly bug free Operational systems that alow me to use it for 3 years non stop plus some more to come instead of some crapy feature phone wich breaks when it touches the floor brings chills up my spine

Wow...I grew up here....

Hey All!
I may just be talking to myself at this point.... but i happened to stop in here and was almost brought to tears. I was a teenager when I first joined this forum, tinkering around with my HD2. I remember the days of new Windows Phone Roms, to HTC Sense Themes, to first getting Android going on SD, to the Legendary Cotullla and the amazing breakthrough of NAND!! I followed the threads and development IRC channels, not knowing what the devs were actually doing to get these things going. I remember terms such as "Debugging" getting thrown around and not having a clue what it meant. Crazy thing is, all these years later, I am now a Software Engineer at Microsoft . Thanks for everything XDA HTC Leo Forum!! Thanks to all the developers, contributors, mods, lurkers, etc, that made this whole thing happen!! Thanks for years of fun with the greatest phone ever, the HTC HD2:victory::victory::victory: .
Live as the HD2 lives. You can do anything. You have no limit.

Well done, good post.:good:
I randomly opened this forum today too. HD2 was the father of all android development. I'm a medical doctor by profession but used to tinker around with an HD2 and other phones back when I was a student. Good times. The satisfaction of getting past the boot animation. <3
Lol guys, the last WEH 6.5.3 build was issued by Microsoft only a year ago. I cooked the rom and flashed it to my Leo So HD2 is definitely not dead (at least one of mine - even with SIM card inside). Still making calls and getting mails, stocks, weather reports
I really miss these days, I still have HD2 but with bad sectors in nand .

Well, concerning bad sectors. Flashing new rom to nand with issues can sometimes cause random reboots and rarely - necessity to remove the battery on restart. It's not a big problem of course but you must be warned.
Concerning my rom - I have to cook another one for public because my rom contains cooked-in personal data (emails with passwords, my own home wifi configuration etc) because I'm lazy to set the phone up after flashing. So maybe I will find some time next days to take my old laptop with Redstone 1 Win 10 LTSB (I have kitchen and other tools there because actual Redstone 5 on my current laptop does not support WMDC anymore and flashing Leo via USB does not work)

Hi! I'd just like to say that I, too, would love a WM6.5 build 29422 ROM for the HTC HD2.
There is a 29422 ROM already available here, but it's in Russian, which is a language I do not speak.

Does anyone have a dump for 29422 yet?
Wow! Did not know some others out there still using Windows Mobile!
I can no longer connect to mail due to SHA2 issue on my HX4700 running Windows Mobile 6.5
Hoping to get ROM for HD2 with 2017+ build of WEH.

Where do you download these builds from? How do you find out what the latest build is?

Looks to be a dead end. I still have my HTC HD2 laying around in my dresser. lol With its original battery. It would be nice to find a rom that was last updated a few years back that still works. Mine running some sort of Custom ROM I got here. Not the best one in my opinion and has tons of old stuff that no longer works. A strip down version would of been nicer.
