Simple answer Yes. This is my best phone yet.

anyone who says that this phone lags is a jack*ss. If you run a quadrant benchmark on the stock phone you get marks of around 2000 which beats a nexus one by around 600. I use the android revolution rom and get a score of around 2500. On linpack i get 75 megaflops. The "lagging" problem is solved by switching the usb debugging option on. This phone rocks!! With an adreno 205 graphics unit, 1 ghz processor(can be overclocked upto 1.53 ghz --- buzzoc) and 768 mb of ram..its the fastest phone on the market today
Yes, the hardware is top of the line on the DHD, but still im afraid of the OS, engadget (known Apple fans) wrote about the Naxus S -"touch response and general framerate on everything seems to be cranked closer to the vicinity of the iPhone 4....-with little of that Android-lag we've seen on earlier devices".
But after seeing some youtube clips on the DHD and not noticing any lagg what so ever, i ordered mine and hope that engadget just doesnt like Android in their reviews

75 MFLOPS? What have you done with your phone??? I have Android Revolution 1.8 with the 1.1.1 Buzz Kernel 1,51Ghz running on Performance Mode (SetCPU) and I get around 53 MFLOPS ... ??

there is a bug called the init bug causing the lag, all you need to do is enable usb debugging mode from the development menu and it will go away for good, also animated live wallpaper are known to slow things down a notch, so leave that off
all android froyo phones after few days of usage might drop speed so when this happens all you need is to make a restart and it will be very fast again, the reboot takes a moment, also you should know this speed drop is not reflected inside the apps, only the main interface and it only happens when you've been using the phone heavily for a couple of days without a restart
gingerbread is said to have an app garbish cleaning mechanism that should hopefully fix this issue, HTC updated/updating its desire, legend and wildfire to froyo, so you should expect their flagship DHD to get the gingerbread update first
otherwise phone is blazing fast, fastest android phone on the block, equal or faster than the nexus S (the 2nd gen snapdragon is very optimized plus higher IO and more RAM, highly overclockable)
the GPU is also fast in theory the nexus S should be faster but all test are showing better results from the DHD's adreno 205 GPU, it runs quake 2 at 45-60fps, neocore at 58FPS, nenamark at 42FPS

Well in setcpu .. in the performance mode increase max and min level both to maximum possible ...( i use the buzzoc 1.55 kernal ... that gives me 75 mflops)
EDIT: well and restart your phone before you run linpack

Try it without rooting first to see if you really need the DHD rooted. I have rooted mine but to be honest I still haven't done anything that needs root access. The OS gives you the opportunity to install non-market apps, so unless you want a custom ROM or overclocking, it makes little sense to root it. And if you decide to do it anyway, there are some good step-by-step guides in the development section on how to do it safely.

Okey. Might be wrong place to ask, but on my dhd the screen is beneith the case, hence my finger makes a sound against it while I swipe left if right.
Is it just mine or is it the design. ?

It's the design. The point in this is to keep it from scratching the screen while put upside-down. And if you install a screen protector, it lies completely inside that space, so it's leveled with the heightened "lip".

Awesome phone i got it today. But i can't really find some instructions how to install some theme or skin witch are at theme section, i know that my phone need to be ruted and all that, but can some one trow me few links with instructions please ? Thanks
Iphone might be more user friendly but android is more customisable. Plus desire hd has great hardware. Iphone is for followers, android is for leaders.
If you're a nerd and like to fiddle, android is for you, otherwise, stick to apple.

Hey guys whats the max overclock that the Aria can be set to? I had CM6 on mine and had the overclock widget from the market and the max that the sliders went to was 600... But I have Liberty FR008 on it now and i still have the overclock widget but the max that the sliders goes to now is 864... I tried overclocking to 864 but it froze and something went wrong so i had to flash a backup i made. My overclock options right now are 245, 400, 480, 600, 768, 787, 806, 825, 844, & 864... Has anyone tried to over clock the Aria past 600? and did you have any problems with it? Thanks for any help.

I dont think the cm6 kernal allows for over clocking. I have the latest liberated rom and overclocked to 806 which is the recomended max setting by the dev.

The CM 6.1 kernel most certainly does support over-clocking. The CM 6.1 kernel was used as the basis for the Liberated FR008 kernel.
Maybe I was thinking about 6.0. Whatever one I had, I could only over clock to 600.

6.0 didn't allow overclocking, 6.1.1 does though. I overclock my Aria to 806mHz and underclock it to the lowest setting when the phone's screen is off so I don't tire out the processor. 806mHz is really good, it puts the phone at the level of the G2 or the Shift 4G...and because I usually run Edge w/3G when downloading, WiFi if available, my battery is really good. Probably about 14 hours of normal (good) usage.
I wouldn't overclock it higher, you risk burning the processor out.
I'm OCd to 825 on-demand and the phone runs very nicely. 245 when screen off
825 is not recommended I don't think. 806 seems to be the sweet spot.

I forgot attn1 was a engineer for HTC. 806mHz is the sweet spot, I've been running it for weeks OD with Screen off at 206 and it doesn't overheat & good battery life.

Suit yourself. Just saying 806 is the sweet spot for most people around here. I've gotten force closes and reboots at 825. We don't need your attitude
Then it seems like your particular phone can't handle 825. I suggest people try it on both. every phone is different. Just don't be stupid about it. When using the phone as a gps, under clock it. under clock when screen off. and over clock on demand and I'm fine on 825. never seen any issue.
"Suit yourself." I think that was the point of his post. His phone and usage of it OCd at 825 is good for him. He was just stating an answer to the OP. No reason to go around telling him he's wrong..
Anyways, not trying to start a OC war... because that would be ridiculous (-ly funny I might add).
As for myself, when I did OC my processor, 825 didn't effect my phone's performance, but it did make it extremely hot after a bit of use. So it's up to your phone and how you want to handle your phone. I don't really need the OC anymore though; I just stick with 600 (;
Sorry for the nooby question, but whats this even do? Besides making it faster I assume?

Downsides are less battery life (may be a lot or not) and not going as fast as it would be if you were OCd. It may also heat up more.

Overclocking is not necessary at all. We just recently became able to overclock. If you are satisfied with the speed/fluidity of your phone, then there is no need to overclock. The downsides would be less battery life (cpu running faster), and if you push your phone too hard (overclock stupidly), you run the risk of burning out your cpu. your phone should not be getting hot.

It's not necessary. It's pretty damn cool to make the little Aria have a processor as fast as the one in the G2 though.
The Optimus One has the adreno 200 GPU which supports OpenGL ES 2.0 and meets the requirements for Chainfire3D. I have it running on my Optimus T with 2.2 and haven't noticed anything different when configuring the default settings. Nightmode works, but that's just about it.

Warning: This replaces (from my understanding of the thread) an existing driver with a new one. It requires root.
I would like to hear back experiences from others who have an Optimus one and tried Chainfire3D.
It also requires a 1 ghz+ cpu. Try running a tegra game to see if it works. Don't know if they will even start... HDPI res required.

Tegra Zone doesn't render properly in HVGA but the screen resolution is not entirely the problem. Installing a game from it crashes the device, probably because it was never made to work with ARM11 chipsets.
Maybe it is/will be useful for something we don't know yet.

For me only pinball hd for tegra works fine... nothing else :/
Tried with guerilla bob thd, and a few other thd games. But chainfire doesn't work with those games.

Problem with Chainfire
I am using an Optimus one Myself and attempted installing this but not only did it fail to install I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and now it won't even open upthe app to allow the attempt of the installation of the codec. (basically I attempt to launch it, it fails goes back to menu, this first happened when I was able to launch the program and attempt to install the codec) Now my best guess if I had any is It's incorrect ROM or something. I'm not entirely sure I'm still getting used to this phone. Already rooted it and broken once thus fixing/reflashing. So I've learned a few things. But if someone better then me and I'm sure there are lots of you here could just point me in the right direction I'd be very happy person indeed. Also, If I'm posting in the wrong section I apologize I really suck at this forum thing.
Another odd thing I noticed, I was only able to oc to 600mhz when I've heard I could oc it to 1000mghz. Is this something to do with my rom?

Overclocking to 1ghz is not possible with optimus one...maximum stable clock speed is 806mhz...it seems u r on stock with root...in that u cannot oc to more than 600mhz...
use any other custom kernel...or simply use any other ROM...

I can run 864MHz on my phone and combined with the correct settings on chainfire 3d u can definitely notice a difference in gaming performance
Would the fact that Chainfire 3d is now not even booting also have something to with the fact that I'm running a stock ROM and cannot overclock passed 600?

I'm going to try out this talho rom and hope for the best.
I figured it all out. simple reading errors on my part as it were going through tutorials and whatnot. either way I got chainfire working just working on download GTa3 to see how it performs.
It worked for me a while ago on CM7 and oxygen, it doesn't need 1GHz+ and is no risk, reflashing the ROM replaces it

Hello everyone!
I've been looking on the web for some time now about the new HTC Titans CPU,
clocked at 1.5GHz, named as Scorpion MSM8255 (same as ours (DHDs CPU)).
What do you guys think about it? Since our MSM8255 can "officialy" only hit 1GHz,
but now HTCs new MSM8255 can get it to 1.5GHz?!
I've searched the wiki also and i cannot find any differences.

It's the same chipset. HTC did the same on the Flyer. They just OCed the cpu to 1.5 GHz since the cpu can handle it without problems.

How easy? Very. 1.3GHz is achievable on the DHD with stock volts (1.1V). Wise? Yeah, anything up to around 1.2V is sensible, and safe is far beyond that.
To be honest, nobody will need to go past 1.3GHz, virtually all ROMs run smoothly at that clock.

I've had mine at 2GHz. I clocked it down to 1,3GHz after 10 minutes since it got REALLY hot. But it managed to run just fine at that speed.

Well, all of the kernels undervolt as well. Almost all of them run the processor at 1.2GHz at stock voltage. So overclocking shouldn't shorten battery life. Also, remember that many of the ROMs have andrev or virtuous OC daemons installed, so they will be underclocked to minimum speed most of the time. So either way, battery life and performance will be improved.
As for overclocking to 2GHz, while it is possible, I'd very strongly suggest you don't do so.
But it does prove that firstly, the MSM8255 is very overclockable, unlike the larger processed chip in the Desire (which I think will really go as far as 1.2GHz only, correct me if I'm wrong...). The Flyer's processor is exactly the same, just selected (a process called binning) because it is "capable" of running at that speed at the required, and desired voltages with the required stability that the manufacturer (Qualcomm) wants.

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently using rcmix runnymede ROM and its not oc'd. Would a OC of 1.3 be wise on stock voltages?

1.3 might be pushing it. Mine needs 1.125V to be stable. I'd suggest that you probably do the same just in case, or even better 1.150.
The safest thing to do is take a look at the NCTeam kernel voltages, and use those (use IncrediControl from the Market to change voltages). They should work for virtually everybody. 1.3GHz is the speed I needed on Sense ROMs to be very smooth, you might find it is less though.
The desire hd doesnt actually overheat much @ 1.3ghz (I use that + Performance governor when playing some games), so the CPU can probably be overclocked quite alot without any problems
Other phones overheat quite a bit @ stock speeds...
Mine is set to 1,6GHz and it can handle 3d gaming for hours with the case only getting a bit warm. I wrote in a different thread that WP7 is getting an update and it will be able to run on DHD hardware. Maybe some devs will be interested in porting it to DHD then. It would be nice to dual boot Android and WP7. I can almost see all iPhone users faces.

Just to make sure I was clear, I meant that 1.3GHz could be pushing it on stock voltage, not that it could be pushing the limits of the chipset for speed. I think everyone got that, and knows that, but was just making sure.
As for heat, my phone didn't even heat up at 1.3GHz. You can push very far with no problems.

Don't forget that we need a wp7 bootloader. The android one can't handle wp7. Furthermore we probably have to repartition our internal memory (or sdcard if you want to run it from there) since wp7 uses other partitions than android (not sure about that, but i guess we have to.)

Personally, I think it's bad to overclock your device.
Pros:
-Faster device.... (that's all I could think of)
Cons:
- More battery consumption.
- Chance of failure (I'm only assuming this, because the device was not built to run at higher clocks, but I haven't seen any device failing from it)
At the end of my device's life cycle, I overclocked it because I knew I was changing it very soon.
I would not overclock my phone. it did not even have a good cooler
