[Q] - Swedish Keyboard + other questions? Android 2.2 on HD2. - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi everybody!
I just got my new HD2 from USA.
It was already installed with:
Android 2.2
kernel is:
2.6.32.15-g66f6ed7-dirty
cotulla-desktop #2
My questions are:
1- How do I found out which "Distro(?)" is installed on the phone? (Cyanogenmod etc)
2- How do I add a Swedish QWERTY-keyboard? At the moment I have Swedish wordlist etc, when I use the COMPACT-QWERTY, I have the Swedish symbols, but when I'm using (and what I want to use) the "normal" Swedish QWERTY-keyboard, there is no Å,Ä or Ö.
3- Is there anything else I should think about with this phone(+android)? I'm new to Android, was an iPhone fan, but hell, I thought I should try this out, and so far, I'm only surprised in a positive way.
Thanks!

Do I have to root?
I think you just need to add Arabic font after rooting your phone. I did not try this yet and I am new to android.
Or maybe using one of Arabic supported ROMs like Cynagon for example.
I hope anyone can help.. I am still looking for a solution for my nexus s.
I flashed latest build of cyanogen for nexus one yesterday and seems arabic is finally solved. letters are connected letters, right to left alignment in msgs.
It's CM7 build#35
It's now late November 2011. Any news of newer Arabic language stuff for droid phones?
I want to know about Arabic in droid too, bc my native lg for Uyghur. it's same to Arabic for use.

Salam Aluikum everyone. Currently my sister's husband owns a htc sensation, and has been griping about reading Arabic on it. Now I COULD go and install cyanogen 7 on his sensation, as that has good Arabic support... but I personally don't want to do it as 1- I'm lazy, and 2- if something changes and he doesn't like it, guess who he's going to ***** at?
so are there any ways of displaying Arabic on his android correctly in everything? like texts, emails, and etc. The only thing I could think of was making him install Firefox as his browser, so he could read Arabic websites
COS DS Android 2.3.4 rom now supports all ASOP+CM languages and locals splited into 4 builds:
for arabic choose:
Build Langpack1:en_US ar_EG ar_IL ur_PK fa_IR bg_BG ca_ES cs_CZ da_DK de_AT de_CH de_DE de_LI el_GR en_AU
it has full support for arabic language...

not sure if sprint has muti-languages on there device. But check under settings> locale and text > select locale. And see if there's any other languages to choose.
When I was messing around with PNG files from the new Pancake ROM, I DID find a Phone apk that has Chinese symbols on it. I'm not sure at all though how you could enable that.
You can install MoreLocale, then select chinese as your UI language.
But there is a serious problem in sprint factory rom that it can not send unicode SMS corretly. The receiver will see messy code when u send chinese SMS.
This problem exists in all of Android 1.5 roms on XDA forum, and it is resolved in all of Android 2.1 roms. As u know, 2.1 roms are still in test.
Luckly, there is worked 1.5 rom in the world. This issue is resolved by chinese developer.
You can download worked 1.5 rom from www .diypda .com /forumdisplay.php?fid=237

I'm not sure about the stock ROM but in the 2.0 AOSP ROM I'm running right now I can easily change languages and there are two Chinese options (I'm assuming one is traditional and the other is simplified.)
Menu > Settings > Language & Keyboard.
Might be worth upgrading your dad to a 1.6 AOSP ROM for at least. (I suggest 1.6 since everything, pretty much, works in those ROMs.)

Does 1.6 have chinese support? Also if the rom2.0 has chinese does this mean the upcoming 2.1 patch from sprint will have chinese or they'll try to condense the size and put only english/spanish again.
楼主可以下载一个叫custom local的程序来更改Hero的语言。当然,是不完全汉化,但是日常应用肯定没有问题。这个程序可以在baidu和其他Android论坛搜到。
Op could download one apk named customlocal to change the display language. It doesn't change all the menu to Chinese. But it could be used daily. You could download this apk through baidu or the other Chinese andriod forum.

[Q] Upgrade WM build & Add Languages to ROM

Hey all,
I've built my first ROM a couple of days ago (details here) but I'd like to add WWE as language too. (And maybe FR, GER and ITA too).
Also I'd like to updrade to the newest WM6.5.X build (current is 23103), but I'm scared I'll lose drivers or whatever that will (in the worst case) brick my device or make my ROM worthless. And where can I download the latest WM build?
Thanks in advance! I really appreciate your help,
MadMatt

[Q] Gingerbread and installed dictionaries.

Hey,
I have a question, that's driving me nutz trying to solve. I used MDJ's 1,3 gingerbread build and it had loads of dictionaries installed, with one of them being the danish one. They worked perfectly with the core andriod keyboard. Now afterwards the dictionaries are gone from this bulids and only the english and a few others remain.
How did he manage to get those in the 1,3 build? Was it some keyboard add-on?
