I had some dust under the camera and was really bothering me. All I did to fix was blast it with some air in a can and its completly gone. Seams like thers a microscopic opening somewhere but idk dust is gone.
Hmm, simple enough, it worked for me... what's with that dust under the lens anyways? I've seen that happen on lots of people's transformers... is it a Quality Control problem with ASUS?
Whats the point of the cameras on the TF anyway?
Image quality is bad on the back camera and there are no chat apps that let you stream video from the front one anyway
mine also has dust under the lens. :'(

Yeah, they all use the front camera. I do also use Google Talk because it lets you select the rear camera during a call, great for showing people stuff rather than turning the tablet around and guessing what you are pointing at.
**** i have the same issue, i used air from my huge compressor in the garage and it didnt help, i think i should try again if u guys had success
I had the same problem too, but I've sent mine to Czech Rep. for problem with right speaker and mention that in RMA document and they've cleared all the dust inside the lense
OK, I tried it with a can of compressed air, it helped, but did not completely clean it. See attached photos, before and after.

+Tango and I also have a Yahoo messenger app that work with the front camera.
The little plastic shield is held in by some uber cheap glue/generic sticky stuff. I took my TF apart a while back and one of the things I tried to do was clean the little lens and succeeded in causing it to peel off almost entirely.
Thanks

From what point of entry are you spraying the compressed air?
How old is your tf to have that dust under the camera lens as I have a b70 tf for 2 months and I couldn't see any dust under the plastic

Not sure if its my phone and it needs to go back.
At the earpiece there is a flat spot that runs across and then another one just below it.
Seems like the process to get the curve threw them a little since its wavy all over but that is something you have to look for and can look past. The earpiece area is what I am most concerned with. Would like to know if others are seeing this.
would you be kind enough to post a picture?
Probably have to pull out the gear to do that but will be taking pics of the vibrant tomorrow so can do it then.
If you look at the speaker and then to the right and left of it there is a flat spot that runs through the glass from side to side if that makes sense.
Either way I will get pics up tomorrow.
post pic..
I don't see anything on mine.
Here are the pics.

It could be designed into the screen but there is another line under it and its not real pretty when the phone is sitting on a desk and you see that. Guess I am just used to the flat smooth screens like the other galaxy s phones.
Is it like, indented into the glass? Looks strange
Mine doesn't look like that. Mine is smooth throughout.
Ok I see it in the pics. That kinda stinks I thought Google said the design was to be the screen blending in to the phone. Bummer.
Going to the store tomorrow and checking out others. If it was a common issue I would just deal with it. Oh well.

It is. Its a flat spot and I can see why its there with the speaker hole there and the cam and prox sensors. Seems they could make a smooth transition or I got a dud.
Take it back and get a new one.
Seems like a hardware defect, I don't see that on mine.

I also noticed that on the first one I got, although not as defined. The issue I had was with the plastic ring around the screen. It was deformed in a few areas. I returned it for another one. This ones perfect. I suggest you do the same.

I have it too.. but not as bad as yours. I have to really use the glare to see it.
I have the same thing...cant notice unless it has light glare on it.
I think pics make it look worse but you can always return it.
Maybe it's flat cuz of the front camera and the light sensors.
I can't tell on mine, unless i have light reflecting on it (like in your pictures)

Thats what I am wondering. I had to use the light to get it in the pics. I deal with glass all day so see these things more then the average person. The bottom is nice and smooth . but the top is a different story. I wonder if others have this and just don't notice it. I hope not but maybe the pics will help others see what I am seeing and give a definite answer.
Either way I am going to go check out some others at BB tomorrow and will report back with what I find.
It may not be a issue at all and part of the design of the phone.
same here but i didnt notice it until you mentioned it.
No problems here on mine. Weird.

I was honestly surprised as well. I took some video at a concert (extremely loud) and it did a good job of maintaining sound quality and the video quality was pretty great as well. The biggest problem was me being able to hold the damn thing steady... but that was a situation/personal issue, not the phone/camera itself lol.
To begin with I was dissappointed with the camera bit recently have take. Some really great pics. Better than the inspire. And im Starting to like the screen colors too. There is also quite a lot you can do post pic taking in the viewer app.

Yea but quicktime is what sucks because it trys to cache the whole 1.2gb before playing

You did that with the phone? I mean, the Atrix?
I like.
Gotta watch the whole thing but do you have those guys riding and bucking on this clip later?
Thanks for the share!
Slow download speed ill let it run though to see im curious now lol
I think it is awesomely bad. I was playing around with my Dad's Atrix and all of the pics seem a little blurry. I thought there might be a lens cover from the factory and looking at it, it certainly doesn't seem as clear as it should be. I tried picking at it but it wasn't going anywhere. Anyone discover a lens cover on their phones?
Downloaded the video... looks great! I'm impressed. Haven't taken video with mine yet, but yours looks great even though (I'm sure) the lighting couldn't have been that good in that arena. Very nice!
Some one should start a "Pictures taken using my Atrix" thread :x that way I can compare to what I have

There might be an issue with the adhesive use for the lens cover. Bring it in to AT&T and see about getting a replacement. My pics look clear.
Make sure you wipe down the lens. It picks up dirt and fingerprints so easily.
No really. Every time I want to take a pic, I take a look at the lens window and it's dirty.

The last photo I crudely washed out the little girls hand out of the frame.
how in did you get so close to that cute lil creature?
I just put the phone within 12 inches of his face. He was very docile. I even had him sitting on my shoulder. Not sure if he was scared or what his problem was, but he let me hold & pet him without too much moving around.
What attracted me was we were in the back yard, and heard this noise that sounded like a dog, it was this little guy. I looked all over this small tree, didn't find a nest of any kind, no other squirrels any where. Street next to the tree...didn't see any road kill. Not sure if he fell out of a tree, was abandoned or what his problem was. Plan on checking tomorrow to see if he is still there...take some shots with my dSLR.
Cute little Pup.
If the sounds were like a high-pitched 'yelp' that is normally an indication or associated with a call to either a mother calling her Pup/Kitten or the same calling the Mother.
Good shots btw..... Clear and evenly lit. The latter one I would have maybe used flash but that would have more than likely scared the little guy away.
I had a look at all three EXIF Data. Nice to see there were variations.
The last one gave results of:-

I think most people who were complaining about photo quality were, like me, doing so before the recent OTA firmware updates. When on KKA the focus didn't seem to work at all - since updating to LA4 the camera is focusing properly (in most cases) and I've got some great shots.
If you guys don't know about it, check out Pano - I've created some amazing panoramas with it.
Looks like the camera lens cover will be prone to scratches. Anyone scratch theirs yet?

love my commuter case! the screen cover that comes with it kind of sucks though
My 22-month old Captivate's camera lens has a single scratch on it (which doesn't show in photos because it's luckily offset), so I'm guarding my S3 like a hawk.
What worries me, is that unlike the Captivate's RECESSED camera lens, which provides a little fundamental protection, the SGS3's sticks out a bit. If you don't use a case to protect the lens a bit, then it seems much more scratch prone. Seems more scratch-prone even if you DO use a case, really.
Here's a pic of my Captivate's camera lens taken with my S3. The scratches on the plastic above the lens might;ve landed on the lens if it wasn't recessed.

I might consider putting a "protector" on the lens, but it'd probably reduce image quality, so, probably better idea to pry it off and replace it if scratched.
why is there NO case that has some sort of cover that flips over or slides over to protect the camera lens? I always just used a piece of scotch tape. But that is of course a crap ssolution and needs to be re-done every week or two. I never understood why NO cases I have seen offer this? Especially for a popular phone like the S III?

Probably because the VAST majority of people can't tell the difference between a clear photo and one taken with a lens covered in fingerprint grease and scratches. Or if they can, they don't give two ****s.
Also, dummies would still forget to "take the lens cap off" and blame anyone but themselves for missing magic moments.

Seidio makes a couple of cases that have exactly what you're looking for. Was just looking at them last night. Flap folds down to take pictures then back when you're done. I almost got one, but I think it'll make the phone too thick. Go to seidioonline.com if you want to check it out.

Clearly a dirty lens... Since the camera lens is right on top of the volume/power buttons, it's very easy to get it smudged up. Also the purplish coating over the lens tend to get scratched so bad. I got great shots now once I removed the coating and also before I take pictures I make sure the lens is not smudged.
Cheers!

You always have to make sure to clean the lens with a clean cloth, the location of the back buttons and normal use tend to smudge the lens quite a bit.
Also, chances are your lens has scratches over the "special coating" (purplish coating)... If that's the case, then you can rub it off with a micro fiber cloth (some use toothpaste but I just used a clean, dry cloth and a lot of rubbing). Once I removed the purple coating, the scratches where gone and pictures come crisp and sharp again!
Cheers!
I did that every time i use camera... But i think camera itself is damage. Focalize and when i touch the button sharf' gone a litte bit. ?
