I'm working on a 1-on-1 port for Xperia X10 from your phones. I want to make it really 100% the same. But just faster then yours
Just kiddin about the last part.
Tough i need some opinions from some Arc owners about it. Is looking the same as yours? What things you know about stock Arc rom. Bugs? Pro's Cons? etc.
Maybe my bugfixes can be used on your phones to.

On screens your ROM looks like our on 100% exept a black bg in "about phone" screen.=)))
It's have darkblue color.

Isnt the Timescape Font bigger and the Settings with a Blue Background on your ARC.
Oops,yes, i look on my screen now, and see it's bigger(a little bit). But realy, Trip's font is better look=)
I think the "About Phone" Screenshot, the model number is different (shouldn't it be X10?) Lol.
Well, my big problem is the battery life. Some people complain that the battery draining is even worse when you have used the stock camera application, but for me no difference. Other than that, the phone is really smooth (I used X10 before) and just zips through no matter how you load it, with widgets and/or applications.
The timesscape font is lot bigger in Stock Arc phone. The playnow application is totally new one in Arc (though I don't use it, I'm sure it's completely different).
Maybe with upcoming screenshots we may be able to provide more different

Camera - There's a problem with the HD video recording - voice and video gets out of sync.. if you've fixed that I'd be chuffed!

We're running on 2.3.3 rather than 2.3.2
no major problems really.. runs very well! but faster is always better..
oh and Trip - any chance you and the other devs over on X10 can help us out with creating a recovery method.. porting xrecovery seems the obvious one.. but a lot of people are talking about CWM too..
My daughters got the x10 now.. so if you can get this fully functional.. she'll be a happy girl!

well oddly enough..when I looked last night I thought it was odd..but it was late and I was tired.... but here's a screen shot.. I haven't upgraded.. running on .184 firmware..

That is nice. I am not even sure differences between the two version but 2.3.3 is due by the end of May and the version is a bit different.

You changed the battery icon and settings wallpaper, you could also do the same with the Android Version(which is very easy to do).
3.0.A.2.184 is not the 2.3.3 update, it's the 2.3.2 english version with the BBC player

It is possible to change it on x10 or just in Arc?
figured this out.. apparently the google talk video implementation from modaco spoofs 2.3.3 to make it work... that's why it says 2.3.3..

So I've been using my phone since early April, and I've found several things wrong with the Android 1.6 operating system. The biggest bug I've found with Android 1.6 is that women don't talk to me. I know if SE updated to 2.2, women would be beating each other up for a trip down my pants. Here's a list of other things 1.6 doesn't do or sucks at.
- Adobe Photo Light (It's not a Flash!) doesn't run on 1.6
- It doesn't butter my toast correctly
- When on a phone call, my ears aren't massaged by sound waves (Android 2.4+)
- It doesn't play the PSP UMDs I tried shoving in it
- Apple won't give me a free case for it
- The phone reboots when I ask Google Maps for directions to the End of the Rainbow
- Playing "The Final Countdown" doesn't result in a magic show by GOB.
- It doesn't drive my car
- The teleporting feature is only in Android 2.5 and higher
- It doesn't (deleted) when I (deleted) [Only in Android 6.9]
If you're as unsatified with your Xperia X10 as I am, your only refuge is to wait for the update to Android 2.1 OS, which many tech blogs believe is actually the Second Coming of Christ.

Hear hear. I'm not insanely excited about 2.1 more than from a naturally curious perspective. Rooted 1.6 works fine for me since wifi tethering was my only major gripe. Froyo on the other hand, that I'm looking forward to. A performance increase in the range of 250-500% depending on the application is a major win.

Yes you heard it right, i have a X104 ...which is MORE advanced than your little x10! because it is number 104.
It runs on window 7!, touch screen with a 1024 pressure with a wacom digitizer.
It weights 5.2 LBs total. Built it resist to scratch screen and capable to use it under the most bizarre and harizous condition! It also run on LONGER than your little x10...it runs for 8 hours!!!!
What can i do with it when you can't on your x10 ? Here is some list.
- Read porns in bigger screen than x10
- bang on it every night and it won't break after 5 years of uses
- It emit enough heat to warm my body and soul!
- It direct Missles ... use in military purpose sometime.
- who need android when you have window 7!
- brigther screen under the sun!
- can be use as a lethal weapon

Built in exchange support is the only real thing I am looking forward to the update for, I hope that isn't overlooked :/

This has already been discussed to death in the 2.1 thread.
"At this time" means probably not with this update... remember, to speed up getting 2.1, SE decided to split the 2.1 update in half, with parts to come in Q4.

No worries! I admit, the threads are pretty much people speculating left and right, and anything newsworthy gets lost in the shuffle!
I read a blog where an engineering student in India claimed an insider friend of his (or maybe somebody who had first hand time with the update?) confirmed the 16m colors are in the 2.1 update. We will have to wait and see but I wouldn't put too much weight on what SE UK says on Twitter or Facebook. Those are truly canned responses.

Well, that's not the blog I read but I believe it's the same guy. Either way, nothing is true or official until it's released. I did find SE UK on Facebook, and most of their responses to questions are absolutely canned. Almost AI like. I won't believe anything until I see it.
How can we check on the phone whether its 16m or 65K??????

Yup I'm not satisfied with it. You can easily see gradients on most app icons/widgets on the homescreen

No there isn't... Look at the quick search widget. You can see gradient you wouldn't get with 16m colours.
The background itself on the right is a nice dark one which hides any colour problems.
..after seeing how bad the Desire GB update is
I thank them, obviously, for giving us GB, but not only that:it's rock stable. While motorola and HTC absolutely suck at giving stable official ROMs, SE and Samsung always give really stable and fully working ROMs.
Sure, they're not the most professional company in the world, and they were dicks to us X10 users before march 2011, but now they're a new company which has had a complete overhaul.
So I think before people complain about the GB update, they should realise how good we have it compared to the competition. The Desire came out the same time as the X10 but look at the mess it got! SE pretty much gave us the Arc ROM minus a few goodies, and put it back on par with other 2011 phones. HTC screwed Desire users with this update.
So thanks SE for making such a stable and fast and up to date ROM for such an old phone

I'm happy with my X10a now. It was okay with 2.1 but when I installed FreeX10 with 2.2 then it became a really good phone.
I can't wait to try 2.3.3 on this phone, and hopefully a vanilla version like FreeX10 but for Gingerbread will come soon.
But I also think they improved by a thousand miles since the days when they decided not to release anything after 2.1 with missing features (remember back then there was no dual touch).
Now if I had to get a new phone I'd consider the Xperia ARC although I'd probably go with the Nexus S.
I am using wolfs gingerbread on my x10a ... all is going well for me. Why are you not updating yours to 2.3 roms? i read that it does not matter if its x10a or x10i as long as you flash the right band on it?

SE made a lot of poor decision and the result is my X10 has cripple for 15 months since i bought it. so i won't respect SE and I seriously doubt that i will purchase any SE device further.

that true, has some bugs but im not using the X10a Update ¬¬... well til comes this GB from xda its reaaallly good everything, well timescape FC all the time but i dont use it really so 4.5 stars of 5 =D

Panama buddy, I'm living in the "S recostada" as well, and I installed the custom WB rom, works just fine for me... Lemme tell ya, it is perfect! Just says X10i, that's all, but it works with the Panamanian frequencies, no problem here!
I am really happy person in the world by getting just like brand new X10i with Motorola Milestone in trade & GB is awesome part of it. Motorola is poor at giving updates as there 2.2.1 was damn slow and fully of DSI errors. Thank God I got rid of it. I'll never ever consider buying Motorola devices instead I'll go with SE & Samsung. [(My brother own Galaxy S & he's happy with it ]

for the time being stock rom is such a crap, cause i cant listen music, it lags a lot during locking and unlocking the phone, it always lags than I you gallery, during screen rotation etc. hope soon we will see a nice custom rom without all this crapy lags.

my friend, if you think those things are what makes a ROM crap, you have waaayyy too high expectations.
Check out HTC and motorala phones. Their updates are plagued with random reebots, overheating, terrible battery and UI bugs. This is nothing. Our battery has become better, no random reebots so far and the phone is cool for me
Before you guys start singing SEs praises, I would like to remind you that the update was out of necessity and not a good will gesture. HTC had loads of software options to chose from when upgrading the desire to gingerbread but unfortunately for desire users the went with sense 2.1....a decision I fear they will come to regret. SE on the other hand had only one option with regard to software. They had to go with the new generation software because writing new software for the x10 would have been time consuming and they could not stick to that very laggy crap we had with 1.6 and 2.1. A downgraded version of the Arc software was their only choice once the decision to upgrade to gingerbread was taken.
All in all, whatever the permutations and combinations may be, x10 users can be very happy because our upgrade is the best. The old adage "its not where you begin but where you finish that counts" springs to mind like a joker with a really big mouth.

for those complains if they tried motorola (eg Xt701, 720) they'll know what is real sucks, especially region outside from US

Seriously, The ROM is just awesome !!
So smooth and the best mobile camera ( Except Arc ).
Really pleased with the new update, just been playing around completely stock until I get a chance to root but so far it kicks the c**p out of my jit'ed and modded 2.1 which I was incidentally very happy with! It is faster, more stable, multitasks better, hardly laggs and the touch screen seems better... Very happy!

Oh don't start that, these have come from the same source that gave us gingerbread pictures last year. Those pictures turned out to be very real so we have no reasons to distrust these ones.

Same here. It may as well be 2.3.7.
The main UI will be largely the same however certain elements will have more of a 3.x twist to them, like the widget screen and app switcher.
Also apps will work differently when in landscape (tablet mode) to portrait (phone mode).
I see the word "soju" in those screen shots... Thats a Korean Alcohol... Just sayin'

-Honeycomb uses a much newer kernel build, 2.6.36, and ICS was allegedly supposed to use the new Linux 3.0 kernel
-Phone icon taken directly from froyo, not even gingerbread
-Android version is supposed to say the version number, not name, even with previous leaks with gingerbread they always showed the number. ie 3.1 or 4.0
-This has a teal blue theme rather than the dark blue colors of Honeycomb
-App tray should be semi-transparent, where are the holographic UI elements from Honeycomb?
- Shouldnt the clock have an LED font?

i just hope most of the stock apps is improved. weathers, t9 dialers, better stock email and many more that should be as a out of the box perfection.
just saying, i dont care if this pic is real or not, i just hyped cuz of the new version. no matter how small the improvements, i love updates!

Nothing against the guy but I dont see the real point in editing the pictures, infact i dont see the whole point of this "proof of concept" photo. Was expecting more changes from ICS though.. I wonder how it performs resolution scaling with apps?
I still hope those are fake or just an early test version. Can't really see much improvement if that's what ICS looks. Hopefully it will be much better than that.

and after that PCC told me that 4.0.2.A.0.42 is available, so i update that too.
last firmware i got was 4.0.1.A.0.283, and i don't see any diference.
after searching the forum, i still have no clue what's new.
so, could anyone tell please tell me, what's new in this firmware ?
- Andriod version 2.3.4
- 3D Camera
- 3D Album
- Some changes to HDMI

The .283 was released for Nordic region and .42 is for the rest of the region plus the Nordic region. No much difference.
Apparently .42 is bugfix compared to .283.
BTW I never got .283 just .42.
i've flashed my arc to LT15i_4.0.A.2.368_Generic Global
then i got the 4.0.1.A.0.283 update from PCC (20 sep)
then got the 4.0.2.A.0.42 update from PCC yesterday (29 oct)
i was hoping to get the 3d multi-angle stuff, but i guess it wasn't there
There are some new apps like 3D Album, 3D Camera.
Some new features like you can share apps directly to Facebook in SE Launcher.
But i think, most important thing is, you can take screenshot now without root.
I waited for the update to .42. After few days im bored and rooted. Now my phone is ROCK bro. Stock is good ( just SE i think others suck ) but customize with root is amazing feel

the 3d album, the 3d camera, share apps to facebook, and screenshot is already available since 4.0.1.A.0.283.

I'm still customising actually. I started with Status Bar and Status Bar Icons.
I switched my Launcher to Go Launcher Ex. Which i think smoother than Stock Launcher even there are cool animations in it.
You can do a lot of customizing without root in GoLauncher Ex. But if you combine GL Ex with Root features. Than you can feel freedom and can't stop customizing
I'm trying to make Status Bar Transparent ( now it is fully black but im working on it . Also you can change every images on screen (like wi-fi icon,battery), you can also change lock screen. And you can change windows animations (which i like most).
Now i can set CPU freq. I'm not using doomkernel right now so i can't make it more than 1 Ghz but i can make it lower so battery life can be longer.
I just realised that, it's not worth to wait for update. If you are waiting update for root.

I'm not sure which FW is but i didn't have that features (screenshot etc.) while i was using 2.3.3
After update it became .42 (2.3.4) and have them all. Before update i was using .368 i guess,but im not sure which one was that.
so far, 4.0.1.A.0.283 and 4.0.2.A.0.42 looks exactly the same.
both are 2.3.4, added 3d camera stuff, screenshot, and share with facebook.
maybe SE did some minor changes, but i don't see it
Maybe. Are you using .42 or .238 ?
Maybe it's about firmware. Some of the World get .238 some others .42
but almost same features.

maybe its just a coinsidence, but i noticed that some hd games load faster than usual... like contract killer, e.warrior, and star blitz
I think .42 is a bit quicker but than can also be placebo.

No, it's definitely snappier.
I saw a video before, it shows a 3D Image on the Arc which uses the Accelerometer to create the 3D effect
Until now i cannot find that feature on Xperia Arc, or that feature is only for Xperia Arc S?
is that feature cancelled? or what?

The baseband number is also changed. Other changes maybe just bug fixes, which is invisible to normal user like us. Previously I used 4.0.1.A.0.283 GB Generic. Now with 4.0.2.A.0.42, I feel more responsive.
how about downgrading from 0.42 to 2.3.2 145 does this cause the 0 battery problem plz don't test it .im only want to know if someone did it
Better don't risk it and use Doom's tool to root it
