Floyo2.2 battery life - XPERIA X8 General

Try to fully charge phone, then wipe battery stats in xrecovery and fully drain

My phone with Froyo 2.2 with OC takes about 2 days with normal use, not playing games and or using GPS or 3G, just talking on phone what really annoys me a bit

Wipe stats now. Than drain it. Fully charge it without a break.

i only sent 2 sms and watched the hour sometimes

I've tested the battery life recently, it is able to standby for more than 2 days.
But it won't last more than 3 hours if I keep running emulators while surfing the internet even with minimum brightness.
Not bad for daily usage.

I am using racht's Floyo 0.20 too. Battery normally lasts 3 days for me.
I remember, with stock SE ROM during the night 30% of the battery was drained
Now just 1% with no OC or UV.

floyo 0.20 - 3days to about 20% with normal use, with gaming alot or wifi/www i can use for 2 days, wipe battery stats always works for me after changing rom

Solved!!! (using a third party program: SetCPU)

I'm using Floyo 0.30 and battery life is a little better, but i was still having problems, just like tommig1990, but by using SetCPU, I could finally solve this, just use the profile "Screen off" and set the max speed to the minimum posible (I think it's 122 MHz) and you'll get a lot more battery.
Before, during the night, with screen off and no radios on (no wireless, bluetooth or 3g), the battery used to go from 100% to 70% or even less, I mean 30% just for doing nothing?? Now it goes from 100 to 91% in the same conditions. Even with radios on (WiFi for example) it saves a lot of juice (I guess the only condition is to have the screen off, but you still get your notifications to work perfectly!!)
I'm so happy now, I'm just waiting for the next version of Floyo or an stable version of 2.3 with everything working. So, don't forget to checkout racht roms and keep an eye on the project he's working on now, I'm sure it's gonna be great!!!

I agree, been using v0.30 now and battery life last long. Been using my wifi + gps for 3 hours after fully charging it, now its still on. its been almost 24 hours now and i think its in 45% batt.

I, as well, see about a 1%/hour drain when my phone is not in use.
Usually, unruly battery drain is due to a rouge application you have installed.
I'm getting better than ever battery life on CM6.
Try charging all the way, reboot into recovery, wipe battery stats, charge all the way again.

I did something similar... I got it to warning (15%) and then erased battery stats... I then ran my my phone until it died and died again... after that it shouldn't get past boot if so then proceed to boot it into bootloader. The bootloaders white screen should drain back up battery quickly so only leave it on for only 2-3 mins. Charge it fully powered off and enjoy 15+ hours uptime!

cyan 6 has had terrible battery life for me. so i switched back to leofroyo latest beta rom and got back my 3hr/% standby battery life. with widgets and email checking every 30 minutes. i'm down to 2hr/% in standby. usually in a day i lose 25% battery life with mild internet use and calling. i charge my phone every two days. can't beat that.
Try manually closing all applications & services that are not vital to your phone, then test over a day or two. If that doesn't work, try a different kernel.
Okay I've had about enough of this. It goes down to 15% every day EVEN IF I DON'T USE IT AT ALL

This one is good. Best in town is hard to judge, but a lot of people enjoy the battery and stability:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714184
Try blackbar v6.1 or stockbar v6.1. Those are the FRF91 build. I haven't tried the FRG33 but it's probably pretty great as well. The first post lists the changes from stock.
I'm fighting with battery life too, but problem is not when in standby where it uses less than 1% per hour, but actually using it (browsing) you can see battery lose 1% every two minutes... is it like that for you guys also? Really frustrating me...

Don't do this. Draining lithium ion batteries to completely dead is one off the worst things you can do to those batteries. It kills off their capacity
Charge to full, turn off phone and charge again until led turns green again, then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
15 hour uptime is average not excellent

This is an excellent ROM. i've used it until i switched over to LeoFroyo. They both use the stock kernel and in my opinion i think its th best.
i also like to downclock the processor down to 800mhz with setcpu. definitely helps with the battery drain while using the phone. Non of those 925mv kernels help out in my experience.
Well I run go chat and msn constantly, I use 40 percent display, wifi, 3g, sync, etc and its about double the length I got when it was stock. Right now at 12% and I'm at 16 hours and 32 minutes! I wipe battery stats every time I flash a new radio also it seems to help

Unique Battery problem

Sorry to start another thread on battery issues but I was unable to find a scenario like mine.
Hey everybody, Im new to the android scene, just got my vibrant less than a month ago. Before that I had an Iphone 3g. So far I like the phone but the battery life is horrible. When I surf the internet on wifi or 3g I noticed that I use like 3-5% in a matter of 5 mins. Is this normal? I consider myself to be a light-moderate user and have been getting and average of 12 hours or so on my vibrant. Also if it makes any difference when my phone is idle or being used my temperature runs around the high 80's low 90's but when being charged it drops to the low 80's or high 70's. What is going on? How can I get more 20 hours on my phone? With the iphone I used to get an easy 15 hours and still have like 40-50% remaining.

When I first got the vibrant, it had pretty bad battery life, I would lose like 25% while sleeping 8-10 hrs. So light usage would be like a day. Slowly I started to get longer battery life (2 days on light usage). Recently I could get up to like 3.5 days on real light usage. After updating to JI6, max I can get now is like 3 days. I didn't really do much and I tripled my battery life by just giving it time.
Thanks burntrat I guess ill be patient. And I must mention that I am running stock.i was just worried because my battery temperature gets colder when charging and warmer when idle or running.

My battery has been draining inconsistently lately. It drains faster in the 50-100% level. Under 50%, it feels like it drains slower while doing the same stuff.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Try this. Download the system panel app from the market. You can set it to monitor your system and it will chart what applications are running and how much they are using the cpu. If you find you have some unnecessary bloatware running in the background download titanium backup and freeze those apps.

There are a lot of different ways mentioned in different forums. Try this:
Let your battery drain all the way to the point when it turns off by itself.
Charge it while its off until its full.
Unplug it, turn the phone on, then plug it in again.
After it reaches 100, unplug the charger and turn your phone off.
Once off, plug it in and let the charging complete.
Once complete, unplug it and turn the phone on. When everything has loaded, turn the phone off (note: no charging involved in this step.)
After it turns off, charge it one last time until 100%. After this, go into recovery and clear battery info (or cache, I forget). There you go
Oh, and its better if you don't download too many apps that monitor battery usage, cpu etc. cuz they will contribute to the battery consumption.

It isn't a good idea to let your battery drain all the way to zero since it is lithium ion. I think skipping that part and just charging it when it's on to full, then off to full, then on to full, then off to full and then wiping battery stats would suffice. Also you need to have clockwork recovery to wipe battery stats.

When the phone turns off by itself, the battery still has some juice left in it to prevent it from losing the ability to charge, if that's what you meant by not a good idea cuz its lithium ion. If thats not what you meant, then please explain why.

Agreed. In my case, I barely lasted 12 hours on moderate use with any of the JI6 2.1 ROMS (Eugene's, Bionix, Fusion, etc). I think after I updated to 2.2, all of the ROMS have been giving me 18+ hours on moderate-heavy use no matter what modem or kernel I use.
So where is the "unique" problem?

battery problem kyrillos Rom

the worst part is that upto 95% of battery is consumed just by display?

is there something i am missing?
or should i wait for atleast 1 week after flashing?
I don't know, but you can also install Juice devender from the market
I like that app. Now the battery has a longer life: 2 days.
The battery seems to be a problem indeed with our devices. Mine was on 5% for 12hrs yesterday.
I've read advice from Lestat, I think, to charge the battery completely before flashing.
I've yet to test it though.

This depends on the network you use, but you can set your phone to use only GSM network or only WCDMA network in the Mobile network settings, if you are located in area where your network switches constantly because of a weak signal your battery will drain itself because of constant refreshing and switching between GSM and WCDMA networks. WCDMA (3G) network uses more battery even if not switching.

the battery first reduces to 80% in the first 1 hour (even with minimum usage, don't know why this happens), and then it stays at 80-60% for like 15-16 hrs...
I got this problem in Kyrillos 3.0beta version...but now in 3.3 its fine...i can use mine till 2.5 days...widout task manager!!! :-/ i dunno...!!! Juicedefender works cool for sum ppl!!!! the oder solution try Indroid 3.0 - it has better battery backup!

still 30 hours isnt enough, its roughly a day.
With 2.1 original firmware and data activated all day i could get 50hrs minimum of battery life.
I'm done with this phone, done trying different roms, calibrating batteries, charging and discharges in less than a day.
i think this phone rocks, except its battery life sucks!

Why would turning on wifi improve battery life?
The idle time on Unity is very good. I'm somewhere around day 2-3/4and just now getting to 50%
However when you're using it the battery tends to die pretty quick.

I never worry anymore, If i'm going out of the house around 5 PM with 20 percent battery life, I'm good for the rest of the night and morning.

The idle time on Unity is very good. I'm somewhere around day 2-3/4and just now getting to 50%

As is true with ANY rom you use lol.
Right now I'm using cm 7 and when its charged to 100 it stays in 100 for a long time than it drains pretty quick

That's how it is. The firmware interacts with the battery in a way that any % over 90% is considered a full charge, so sometimes this comes away with the phone sitting at 100% for a long time (up to like 2 hours for me if I don't use the phone much), then draining normally. It doesn't drain fast, it just drains fast compared to the battery sitting at 100%.

Not true. CM6 had a drain rate of 3%/h on idle with no connections and me popping it on once or twice an hour to get a text.
Cm7 was around the same. All stock clock with downclock with the screen off to around 500mhz.
Unity's idle rate is only about 1%/3-4 hours. It's insane.

No, I mean you clearly are going to drain fast when using a phone compared to idle.
And any ROM with a proper kernel can be undervolted / underclocked with apps to disable data in order to drain less battery in idle.

OMG I just flashed cm7 a while ago and the battery life is amazing!!!!!
I'm on xda for about five minutes and it hasn't changed from 100
Amazing!!!

I can't tell if you're kidding or not, but the phones and ROMs I've seen all exhibit this behaviour. The OS will report the battery at 100% for a long time, as if the battery has more capacity than the OS knows about. A more accurate estimate would be to wait until you're at 99%, and then see how fast the meter drops. Better yet would be to use something like Current Widget or Battery Monitor Widget to record real-time current draw, then calculate how much energy has been consumed.
I wish there was a way to calibrate what "100%" actually means, but I don't think that is possible, since it is a hardware limitation.

Post your Battery life here

I don't see a thread like this for the T-mobile HD2 so I figured we can have our own.
It would be nice if you included the following with your posts:
screenshots including on screen time, information about your rom, kernel, etc. and estimated talk, text, browsing, and gaming time, and what brightness you had your screen on (auto, full, etc.). If you use something like SetCpu with profiles list your profiles and settings here too.
:good:
Good idea. Here some screenshots of my battery usage and system.

I get about a day on mine running Nexushd2-ics-cm9-hwa-v2.9a. I use setcpu to fine tune and use between 4 and 5ma on standby according to currentwidget. It is disappointing to see such a small battery in a power hungry phone. I do have the larger HTC battery but it makes the phone too big and bulky for me.

Thanks for the screenshots, how much battery life do you get by one recharge.???
Screenshots don't say much, I think, as the use of the phone is always different.
After charging I can game about 4-5 hours straight on full brightness for my battery to be empty.
With a lot of standby and only screen on to Whatsapp/Kik/Text and brightness on 'automatic', it can last for 1-2days.
Only listening music all day it can last about a day.
Standby only it can last almost a week.
ROM: Xylon 4.2.2
Battery Capacity: 1230mAh (stock battery)
Charging using an external charger because the USB port is broken.

Whoa. I get 3-4 hours straight whatsapping/tweeting plus some reading with Kindle. My battery is gone, I guess.

3-4 hours is too bad i guess. You really need to buy a new battery.
Because i get abour 6-7 hours from normal use, and about a day by just whatsapping or surfing.

That shouldn't do anything for a Li-ion battery.
However, using an external charger seemed to have doubled my battery life, as strange as it may sound.

Wiping battery stats does nothing. It is just a myth.
Check this out : http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
I often get 2 days using (no data, wifi, no game)
That's acceptable

How often you use wifi, is it just for some time or for complete day?
