Bettet battery life rom? - G2 and Desire Z General

Hey can someone please tell me in which rom the battery lasts longer???

PLEASE search. You have 253 posts, you should know by now this is asked every single day

I'm on stock 2.3.4 rooted, and I just put my phone on the charger with 14 hours since last charge @ 56% battery. It was light to moderate use, will let you know tomorrow if it was a fluke. Sundays are light days, but Monday will tell the truth.

Use coredroid 1.0 it has fantastic battery life. Its a sense Rom but it has the best battery life I've used on any Rom.

Battery life today was average. I got about 9 hours out of it. I had left wifi on though will test again tomorrow.

my battery conservation method is simple:
- Turn on wifi and leave it on
- Set the phone to GSM only.
This almost doubled my battery life using stock HTC gingerbread.

Why would turning on wifi improve battery life?

The idle time on Unity is very good. I'm somewhere around day 2-3/4and just now getting to 50%
However when you're using it the battery tends to die pretty quick.

Pyromod! its amazing, I get about two days battery life.
I never worry anymore, If i'm going out of the house around 5 PM with 20 percent battery life, I'm good for the rest of the night and morning.

As is true with ANY rom you use lol.

Right now I'm using cm 7 and when its charged to 100 it stays in 100 for a long time than it drains pretty quick

That's how it is. The firmware interacts with the battery in a way that any % over 90% is considered a full charge, so sometimes this comes away with the phone sitting at 100% for a long time (up to like 2 hours for me if I don't use the phone much), then draining normally. It doesn't drain fast, it just drains fast compared to the battery sitting at 100%.

Not true. CM6 had a drain rate of 3%/h on idle with no connections and me popping it on once or twice an hour to get a text.
Cm7 was around the same. All stock clock with downclock with the screen off to around 500mhz.
Unity's idle rate is only about 1%/3-4 hours. It's insane.

No, I mean you clearly are going to drain fast when using a phone compared to idle.
And any ROM with a proper kernel can be undervolted / underclocked with apps to disable data in order to drain less battery in idle.

I can't tell if you're kidding or not, but the phones and ROMs I've seen all exhibit this behaviour. The OS will report the battery at 100% for a long time, as if the battery has more capacity than the OS knows about. A more accurate estimate would be to wait until you're at 99%, and then see how fast the meter drops. Better yet would be to use something like Current Widget or Battery Monitor Widget to record real-time current draw, then calculate how much energy has been consumed.
I wish there was a way to calibrate what "100%" actually means, but I don't think that is possible, since it is a hardware limitation.

The longest anyone has had it on their phones is like 15 hours. Give it a few days.
You won't be able to really tell for a few days when people stop picking up their phones every 10 seconds to play with it.

I fixed my gps early this morning and then set it up with a full charge to do a battery calibration. I turned 4G on to help it drain. I also used it to read xda for about 30 minutes earlier this morning (not sure why the battery stats don't seem to show everything that has been running). Here's where I'm at 8 hours later. I would say the battery life is pretty freaking great! Can't wait for some UV'ing once we get source.
Note: I have Overclock widget set to 1000/200 screen on and 400/200 screen off.

i somewhat second this i have left it unplugged all last night and i am at like 80-90 percent full with some what use..
I am still using juice defender, but my phone as been off the charger for almost 12 hours and I am probably around 75% battery left. I will be testing out turning off JuiceDefender tomorrow, but for now it looks amazing.

it some actually deads faster than 2.1
I've been having pretty fantastic battery life. So far the phone has been unplugged for 6 hours, I've been texting on and off all day, and played angry birds for about an hour. I'm sitting at 75%. Probably not fantastic but not bad.
I've noticed an improvement, but as to how much, I'm not sure. Maybe 20 to 40 percent better.

excellent battery life
61 percent with some youtube , texting surfing the web angry birds and 4g on(sleep mode for 4g works really well) and apperently my gps was on all day. Its been 7 hours and 32 minutes ..I would normally be at like 35 percent
I have definitely noticed an improvement. It seems as good as baked ultimate and that says a lot.

I am getting battery life like it's a completely different phone.
I was always rooted but with stock roms and kernels and on 2.1 my battery life was frighteningly bad. I have been on for well over 8 hours and using my phone off and on all day checking out froyo features and the battery indicator is showing still nearly full battery life. On 2.1 I would have had to pop it on the charger at around 2 pm today or earlier.
* I am going to be making a thread about LEGIT improvements that froyo gives us with this phone. There are a ton of piss and moan threads, but froyo adds a ton of features (several i'm sure I don't know about) and MUCH BETTER battery life. *

CM battery use

On stock my battery use would indicate display as the most used item under battery use.
On CM, however, cell standby and cell idle I think takes up 43 and 40 percent respectively while display only takes up 5 percent... is this normal? I thought on a highly efficient system, display would usually be the most taxing power draw item.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
P.s. big ups to toast and the CM team for making it happen!

Similar situation here, though mine shows display at 15%. I seem to have similar overall battery life as I did on stock though.
For the most part, unless you never turn your screen on, display should be number one

I see the same thing as the OP, however I find that my battery life is improved in CM7. I am running Nightly 35 right now, but it was pretty much the same in RC4.1 as well.
Still testing but looks the same... phone idle and cell signal take up the most but display is now 10%.
On stock I got 48 hours off a charge if I stuck to wifi places. It would be 24 hours in and id have something like 56percent left.
On cm I'm 8 hours into this experiment and have 44 percent left.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
I've also noticed my battery life isnt near as much as it was with a Sense rom. I looked today after reading this post and realised it said I was 59% time without signal when I havnt dropped service once. I wonder why that is... Hopefully they get this figured out as I really liked how CM6 gave my Hero more battery life over stock not the opposite.
My cell standby is right at the top with 37% but my time without a signal is 0%
Ok day two of testing coming to an end... I tried the suggestion of turning on airplane mode this morning then off to see if it made a difference.
Off the charger at 8am
At 15% 10:28 pm
Cell stand by 32%
Phone idle 25%
Wifi fall in the middle here somewhere
Display 5%
Still not the kind of batterylife I got on stock. I just goto school and home these days pretty much same routine everyday and constantly on wifi.
I'm gonna try to set the clockspeed down from default of 1ghz in cm to 800 to mimick stock tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. Then maybe try a new kernal like x99 later on in the week.
Will report back!

I'm getting better battery life, by quite a bit. But I just noticed I've been running at 800MHz under the "conservative" governor, so that explains part of it

I haven't noticed much lag if any. Except occasionally when opening some apps, not enough that it ever really bothers me.
I switched it to run at 1209 MHz, and I can just about watch the battery percentage drop, so there's a definite difference there

battery issues

Has anyone having issues with battery runs out drasticlly. Charge it and then with in minutes its dead. Get a full charge turn it off and back on then its dead.
I had that problem with my epic after flashing a custom rom. battery needs to be calibrated if it was not flashed at 100%. you can download battery calibration app from the market place.
Ya calibrate will help the readings but don't expect amazing battery. I have the seido expanded battery and it still can't make a day of heavy use.

I had this issue on a few ROMs, specifically the Anonymous i3. I would charge all night and by the time I got to work (1.5 hours on the bus) I would have only 50% or less battery from listening either to Pandora or other music and with 4G off. It's infuriating. I have not calibrated my battery as of the moment, however I did go to the RandomRom and my battery life is phenomenal in comparison so I would recommend (and my recommendations carry no weight because I am nothing more than a casual user who only recently began rooting) looking at what you are running and checking battery drain on other ROMs.
Your specific issue is calibration. Its that simple, its misreading you battery status

I figured that was likely it, but never worried about it since I still got good usage without ever calibrating. The anonymous i3 is the only one that didn't have decent battery life for me. Random has been the best so far, gets me about 10 hours with basic use.

Post your Battery life here

I don't see a thread like this for the T-mobile HD2 so I figured we can have our own.
It would be nice if you included the following with your posts:
screenshots including on screen time, information about your rom, kernel, etc. and estimated talk, text, browsing, and gaming time, and what brightness you had your screen on (auto, full, etc.). If you use something like SetCpu with profiles list your profiles and settings here too.

I get about a day on mine running Nexushd2-ics-cm9-hwa-v2.9a. I use setcpu to fine tune and use between 4 and 5ma on standby according to currentwidget. It is disappointing to see such a small battery in a power hungry phone. I do have the larger HTC battery but it makes the phone too big and bulky for me.

Thanks for the screenshots, how much battery life do you get by one recharge.???
Screenshots don't say much, I think, as the use of the phone is always different.
After charging I can game about 4-5 hours straight on full brightness for my battery to be empty.
With a lot of standby and only screen on to Whatsapp/Kik/Text and brightness on 'automatic', it can last for 1-2days.
Only listening music all day it can last about a day.
Standby only it can last almost a week.
ROM: Xylon 4.2.2
Battery Capacity: 1230mAh (stock battery)
Charging using an external charger because the USB port is broken.

[Q] Battery life.. (android system)

Hi all.
Just a quick question. My battery life is great but i feel like it could be much better. Here are my current stats as i write this.
With this its saying i will get under 4 hours screen on time, i wouldnt say i was a heavy user. I use my phone quite a bit but i wouldnt say it was alot.My biggest problem is with the android system anyone else have it as such a big drain? Somedays its sat up at 40%
Anyone know what i can do to rectify this? Im currently not rooted..
Thanks in advance
Liam
There are just two possibilities.
LG stock rom is so bloated that it sucks most of battery or GRAM feature is so good that screen time is not really problem anymore.
Forgot to mention, my screen time was 2hr 30 so probably looking at not even getting 4 hours screen on time.. Gonna have to guess that it's the stock rom sucking up loads of battery? Would that cause the android system percentage to be so high?
I'm having the same issue here.. Getting 4 hours screen ttime though...

install greenify. it save my battery. last longer.
I can easily reach 6 hours screen on time. And I'm a heavy user and by no means try to save battery. multiple social networks, emails syncing etc often streaming music and watch videos and brightness set to a constant 75%. This is on StockModRom. So yeah I'd say something is draining your battery unnecessarily there.

If you find one, please let me know. As Android System is also eating my battery.
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
Strangely, for me, when I go over ~2h screen time the Android System drain is taken over by the Screen drain. This being said, I never got over 3h30m of screen time - this is with about 10h WiFi (including overnight => ~2% drain) and about 7h 3G. I have noticed plenty of crap among the kernel wakelocks, but I lack the knowledge to remove them in the source code and rebuild the kernel.
Also, BBS is among the apps that trigger a Qualcomm bug regarding sensor kernel wakelocks (sns_async_ev_wakelock), which, obviously, lead to more battery drain.
All of this is not really acceptable coming from a company like Qualcomm (the sensor bug, in particular, is present ever since the S3 QC version...).
I'll second that Greenify is pretty good at saving battery.
I too have had a screen on time of 6 hours 11 mins over a duration of being off charge for over 14 hours
I'm using StockMOD kernel but the ROM itself is stock as i can't seem to get StockMOD rom to boot.
Also if you Root try TricksterMOD and use multicore savings etc maybe get a bit more life from your battery
Hope battery life gets better for you as it is an awesome phone would be nice for you to enjoy it as much as the rest of us

I think that's whery good
