So seeing as the hardware supports it is there any way to enable it without waiting for SE to implement it in an update?
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Make your kernel with USB host support, you can take a look at Nexus One's and Nexus S' kernels with USB hosting drivers as a reference.
So that's the only way atm?

It will always be only way because drivers defining USB port functionality are in kernel.
I see
New to compiling kernels
Is there anyone working on this or are we better waiting on ice cream

They've got the honeycomb zip over in nook color forum. Anybody dares trying? Or port it over to nexus one?please developers?

If it managed to flash at all it wouldn't work, the drivers and settings would be completely wrong.
Honeycomb is for tablets so this doesn't even make sense.

An AOSP build with no drivers and serious fc's is possible. you want it?

Precisely. Additionally, I managed to try it on my Nook Color, and it is definitely not ready to be used as a daily driver. I'm sure once it's released to AOSP, there will be some nice port for current tablets, and probably even some half-baked port for phones, ignoring Google's intention for this to be a tablet-based OS.

It's not AOSP, it's much worse than that, it's an SDK port.
like everybody said. It's really buggy. Just wanted to try out if any one wanna do something with it

I doubt it's worth trying. If you run Honeycomb in the emulator at the N1's resolution then the Launcher just crashes continuously. There is nothing you can do with it at all.
i did it. works like a charm!......NOT

try changing lcd density to 100 (not that it'd make it really very usable on the device at that density anyway)
Any chance of a full Xperia Rom? I know there's one that uses the launcher but was wondering if there could be a chance of a full rom with all the apps.

No, you can only use the apps like launcher from it. It would be very hard to port from a sony device since the drivers are different. But there's most likely very little interest in that...This phone will have ports from HTC devices mostly, miui, and there's a nice droid/blur port by raffy floating around. Besides that we have no LG, no Huawei, no Sammy, no Sony, no IOS ports, no WebOS ports for any HTC based devices, why you ask? Since most things wont even work and the interest isn't there. For the Galaxy S there's a Sense port, but it barely works, lots of work went in to it but it's hard to get the thing functional.
was actually just kinda wondering. I like liquid metal alot. But really want the updated Playstation app.

stock nexus s AOSP 2.3.5 rom with minor tweaks try it out pretty impressive
I've never had any experience with these roms first hand, but from what I heard Bugless Beast for Droid is pretty good. I'm always open to trying a new rom Welcome!
to be honest this is the fastest rom the nexus s has seen without overclocking.
remember this is still in beta.
just report bugs dont complain

This is literally, word for word, copy/pasted from the website he linked to in the OP, and his response to your first question...
I am pleased to announce that I am now supporting the Nexus S 4G as well as the Droid. This ROM will be released alongside my Droid build titled "GPA17". Until then you can find it in "nightly" form in the following directory: http://wonderly.com/bb/CRESPO4G/ROM/BETA/ (choose the latest file)
Some features include but are not limited to:
180 degree rotation
Overclockable to 1.4GHz
Voodoo support
Updated wifi driver
CPU Toolkit
FLAC audio support
Native 3G tethering
Ad-hoc network support
Facebook sync
Reboot option
Modified widget picker
There are also many performance tweaks and bug fixes which you can find change by change on my github. For those of you who run CyanogenMod, now that I support this device I have began submitting patches to help out. In the future I plan on supporting the other Nexus S variants (T-Mobile & AT&T) as well.
Recommendations:
Upon initial install of this ROM, please wipe data and cache. When a new build becomes available, you will only need to wipe dalvik cache. For the best experience, stick with the kernel provided in my build, I assure you it performs very well. If you are interested in saving tons of battery life, downclock to 800MHz in the CPU Toolkit, you will see little to no difference in performance.
Sorry this post does not read well, I am sick at the moment and not in the proper mindset to write.
really not hard to figure out what ROMS are for our phone the 2nd link is only for our phone is even says CRESPO nnot CRESPO4G

Yeah. If you have the NS4G, grab the Crespo4G files. If you have a normal NS, grab Crespo

Starting this week, hopefully, I wanna begin work on a 2.3 ROM for X8 featuring the SlideScreen Pro setup, but improving on a couple things, such as:
1) App interface Clean milky-white interface all around, with classic gray and orange colors. GingerBread (etc) options integrated into SlideScreen style
2) Gmail notifications to main screen Revert Gmail notifications from StatusBar onto main screen
3) Revamping looks, feel, and functionality Improving overall menu-ergonomics, giving it a SlideScreen-MIUI feel and look
Anybody wanting and willing to collaborate is more then welcome.
I'll post some preliminary interface pics after Tuesday, March 6th, since I gotta get a separate laptop running Linux, due to daughter needing play games on the PC . Once I do some basic mods to the SlideScreen interface, I'll test it on GB. Once I get the appropriate performance, I'll post Alpha.
like it
i like slidescreen
i like ur idea
may i give u more idea..
can you make it more ICSish..
ill wait..
maybe i can become the first tester..

No sorry not making a rom, was interested initially because I was looking for a good modded version of the launcher fully functional with no fc. I use 1.26 now but I want 2.0 full with no fc in Facebook.

Hello everyone. I just got my WiFi nexus 7 and so far love it. I have cm10.1 loaded up right now. This is what I used on my infuse 4g until Scott decided to make this ROM beanstalk. I looked into how to port ROMs but it is just over my head. I was wondering if any devshere wanted to port this over for the n7 community. It is a great ROM with a ton of options.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Well, I don't see a link to githib sources for the ROM, without those your not going to port it. Better to just get a cm10.1 codebase and start adding features into that code for the n7
As for how to port Roms, its quite simple in theory (if everything worked out like it should, which never ever ever ever happens)
But basically you pull the sources for the ROM you want to build, setup your device folders properly, tweak the code how you want, then run brunch

Thanks for the info. I know Scott said he has all the files on github. I thought there was a link in the first or second post on that thread. I'll ask him for direct links.
