NO more security features and better optimization for smartphones .
* Enabled NEON optimizations for OMAP4 (Cortex A-9) based devices. (2853030)
* Corrected an issue on the Samsung Galaxy S where H.264 video at resolutions of 720p and below was not displayed. (2852889)
* Android Apps using Browser Plug-ins like Flash Player in WebView no longer need to set android:hardwareAcceleration to True in their AndroidMainfest.xml for plug-in output to be rendered. This was previously an issue on Android 3.0+ only. (2834793)
* Fixed a crash on the HTC EVO that some users encountered with specific video. (2855425)
* Fixed an issue that caused video frames to stop rendering on long streaming videos (> 1 hour) on some Motorola devices. (2855957)

LoL, and more so the entire purpose was to have specifications which can last throughout the year and compete with the HTC Sensation or any other HTC device released this year.

How do you run the stock android browser in full screen? Please do tell.

You can't. In the settings of the GS it was disabled so you don't have access to that option so I bet it will be the same way for that beasty smartphone. Really not that much of a deal... and the top bar is always useful for the time and radio toggle and battery status etc
The screen is so huge that you will not need to have a true full screen experience. It will be more comfortable to have the Top bar or the Bottom Bar available while providing you a larger view of the website.

I don't think the update would just fix all of our performance issues, but at least provide better compatibility. I think our future honeycomb updates (look at me being optimistic) will help with the chop.
Ya 720 looks about the same to me. Smooth but sometimes can stutter when there's a lot of variance in the shot.

This. I think they'll need to tap into the nvidia hardware more to enable better video performance. It's interesting to note that they added NEON support for CPUs that support it(ours doesn't afaik). How much those instructions will help I don't know.

No, I mean nvidia will have to work with the manufacturers to include better optimized kernel/user code for the tegra to take advantage of the dual core and the graphics hardware better. Hopefully nvidia has 3.1 as well and is adding their pieces to the pie as we speak.
a big drop in performance with flash 10.3
I
don't know if anyone sees the same, but for me, adobe flash 10.3 is a lot worse than 10.2.
I am in germany and looked videos on www.golem.de. With 10.2 there have been nearly smooth. Now with 10.3 they become a picture view, no longer video.
(Yes I compared the same videos, coding can't be different.)
I think they broke the nvidea integration and HC was not the focus of this update, but 10.2 was.
My recomandation:
So if you didn't update so far, don't do it!!!!

Retested Flash 10.3; still not better
Hi again,
thanks for the tipps, tried them all.
I think it depends on the video itself.
For some odd reason, the videos in germany tends to be coded in a way, the new Flash 10.3 didn't like.
I mentioned before, all videos on Golem.de are worse, but also on spiegel.de.
I noticed a message box, saying, "This video is not optimized for mobile devices".
Never seen such a message in 10.2. Also on my HTC desire, the videos are worse, and see exactly the same behaviour.
I still see no advantages from 10.2 to 10.3. In 10.2 I never had such messages, and the videos where smooth as well. Now on a few webpages the videos are OK, but most are picture shows.
Is there anybody else how could confirm this? Can't belive I am the only one, seeing this performance drop on two different devices, and nobody else seeing this.
I read that flash10.3 is better with HC 3.1. So you see better performance?

Chainfire3D- Intermediary OpenGL Driver (Boosts GPU Performance)

Xda-developers forum member Chainfire has released an impressive new graphics utility for Android called Chainfire3D. He describes it as an “intermediary OpenGL driver” which can change commands sent from an app to your graphics driver. That allows you to do things like play games that require a specific graphics driver on unsupported hardware. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Here are a few things Chainfire3D can do:
NightMode reduces the number of colors on your display to save battery life on an OLED screen or make a screen easier to view in low-light settings.
Reduce texture resolutions by half, which can reduce memory use and improve performance when rendering 3D graphics.
Convert 32-bit textures to lower quality 16-bit textures.
Use plugins to emulate NVIDIA Tegra 2, PowerVR, or ATI graphics and report to the Android Market that your phone has that hardware (so you can download apps that normally require Tegra 2, for instance).
In order to use Chainfire3D you’ll need a rooted phone with a 1 GHz or faster processor. The software has been tested on a number of phones including the Samsung Galaxy S, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid 2, and Google Nexus S.
Some games may not play properly even with Chainfire3D installed, and there’s a chance that you won’t get the same kind of graphics performance that you would with a real NVIDIA Tegra2 processor, but many users are reporting that they’re not seeing any real problems with Tegra-specifica games running on non-Tegra devices.

http://mobiputing.com/2011/05/chainfire3d-graphics-driver-for-android-can-boost-graphics-performance-reduce-battery-drain/
Description
!! Android 2.1 and newer, NOT for Honeycomb !!
Chainfire3D is an intermediary OpenGL driver. What does that mean? It means that Chainfire3D sits between your apps and the graphics drivers, and can intercept and/or change commands between the two. It has some built-in functions, and can be further extended with plugins to provide extra functionality.
!! Chainfire3D is for 1ghz+ devices only !!
!! ROOT is required for this program, as well as a writable /system partition. S-OFF is also required on HTC devices !!
Features include reducing texture size and quality to reduce memory use and potentially increase game performance, as well as increasing memory use potentially increase performance.
Be sure to check the thread on XDA for available plugins !
Chainfire3D has been tested on:
- HTC HD2
- Samsung Galaxy S
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 7"
- Samsung Galaxy S II
- Samsung Epic 4G
- Motorola Atrix 4G
- Motorola Droid 2
- LG Optimus 2X
- Google Nexus S
It's likely to work on far more devices. So far nobody has reported a failed install, so that's good. Doesn't mean problems can't happen.
!! There is some risk involved installing the driver. If you have CWM, it would be prudent to create a backup before installing !!

Did you set it up to drop the image quality for that specific app (or drop the quality in the global settings)? Not doubting your knowledge but we all do things like that at times
Anyway, as far as running and not causing any fc's that I've seen over the past 24 hours the drivers are stable. As far as working, I guess we'll just have to do some more testing.
I DLed this last night and have not had any FCs. I have the CF3d driver installed but no options checked. I will need to play some games and play with settings to se what this does for or phones. Anybody gory any suggestions for games to try?

How is the Tegra 2 support? Looking to try it out on the Atrix.

And don't let the android market fool ya, it's android requirement is v2.3.3 not v2.3.7.

At least on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, it runs a little slower than I would like at high quality settings(1024 texsize = 15-30fps depending on preset). If you lower the texsize to 512 in settings (which is still pretty sharp), it helps a lot.
I am not sure why it runs slower on the Tegra 2, but I suspect its because the GeForce ULP is not a variant of the PowerVR GPU that most phones use and the OpenGL ES drivers don't like one or two calls I'm making.
I fully intend to get it buttery smooth on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, so you can buy this with confidence. If I am not able to make it 100% within a few weeks, I'll refund you
I plan on working on improving Tegra 2 performance over the next few days, so you should see improvement soon. I have not tried it on an Atrix, so for all I know, it could work better than my tablet.
awesome
so glad to see this finally made it to the market, there are some presets that seem to run smoother in androp, hopefully some shared knowledge will get that sorted out, already told the dev about it anyway, just had to post something cause I'm too much of a noob to figure out how to subscribe to this thread any other way :-/
Awesome I never thought I'd be able to have milkdrop in my pocket from when I started using it in winamp years ago. I'm also on an Atrix and am looking forward to improved Tegra 2 support. One problem though, Market complains that my device isn't compatible with the app. Any idea why? I'm running a CM7 nightly which is up to 2.3.7. Not sure what the other requirements of the manifest file are...

The market is strange. I don't understand how it decides who can install something. It says the Atrix is supported in the developer's console, so I'm not even sure where to look next.
It should be up on the Amazon market soon, although with their one week delay for updates, it will be out of date most of the time.
We released version 3.10 today, mostly centered around startup performance and stability. It helps a lot with the live wallapaper.

Yeah, I will be looking at the presets you poinetd out next week after the holidays. Performance stuff on that level erquires more concentration than I have available right now.
Looks to be running fairly well on the Atrix but seems to slow done a bit when there's a lot of lines drawn on the screen. Also tends to force close every now and then.
Running CM7 FYI.
BTW, is there a way to make this dependent on only media sound output rather than mic input?

We are working on allowing you to select only mic or audio input instead of the aut omode that projectM currently uses. Technically, projectM already supports thi feature, but we don't have a settings screen yet. I know, it sounds stupid. projectM is pretty boring with no sound input at all, so we made auto the defualt and figured we would add the option eventually for people like you who know what is going on. Expect it in a week or so.
As for the FC issue, can you give me any info? I would love to fix it for you.
We just released 3.13 to the Market. 3.11 and 3.12 were big crash fixers, 3.13 not so much.

projectM is now availanle on the amazon appstore.
Unfortuneately, Amazon requires review every time an update is released so this is a very old build at this point. I have submitted a much newer one for review, but they are still reviewing it. Use the Google Market if yo ucan, as this one will always be 3-4 days behind as far as updates go.
Pretty soon 3.15 will be out with support for selecting just one preset in live wallpaper mode.

Also , any updates on the Widget option?

I am not sure the widget is possible. I've looked pretty hard.
I just completed some performance optimizations that I will be releasing tomorrow after I get home from work. I want to be around (and not asleep or at work) in case it blows up.
projectM already has a limiter set to 30fps. I just asked my co-developer to add a setting to change it. 30fps is the sweet spot because most MilkDrop presets were written with that speed in mind. I don't see why I couldn't add a display as well.
I tried to search more info on using opengl in widgets and it really seems impossible
But , I might found some interesting info - if you can look into it I'll be glad
ICS has introduced a new thing called TextureView
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/TextureView.html
I'm not a dev , but can this be used to "stream" the visualizations?
Code:
A TextureView can be used to display a content stream. Such a content stream can for instance be a video or an OpenGL scene. The content stream can come from the application's process as well as a remote process.
TextureView can only be used in a hardware accelerated window. When rendered in software, TextureView will draw nothing.
Also why some visuals looks different on pc? are there missing components?
BTW , love the new music controls! but it needs more work such as configurable/automatic opacity
can you can add the track name appearing on track change like milkdrop? if not a simple text on top would be great

I just wish i could turn the things off i do not want . like music books and movie content. I only need to see apps.
thanks for the apk guys ..
If you swipe left or right the screen stutters. I read on g+ that it rolling out on Android 4.2 devices, so maybe its not correctly compatible with 4.1.2.

"Stuttering" is unrelated to Android version. If an APK runs, then the Android version is OK. "Stuttering" is due to any number of factors, including system load, speed and capacity of Flash memory, and Network speed.

yes it seems like a timing thing.. The shuttering (i think_) is caused because its populating the apps at the same time as its scrolling.. Pushing the device a bit.. Maybe there needs to be a wait point built in there on the number of apps it populates to page as its scrolling over ..
But once you let it sit for a minute or so the shuttering goes away . guess the pages are cached ..
