I'm willing to wait We don't want a gingerbread with a lots of bug.

16th of month for unlocked dhd owners now

I really hope it's because they are fixing the bugs. I have both the wifi and dialer issue, and my battery drains faster. Right now, I wish I just had Froyo back.

In belgium we got the update today, unbranded and stockrom,no root also. But i don't update because I'm afraid of the wifi bug and the compability of the games, programs and widgets?

It's official!

Alright so I've been a skeptial bastard about some of the posts about the Evo getting Gingerbread and the new HTC Sense UI. I took the liberty of emailing HTC as well. I know other people have also, but I found those responses from HTC to be vague and didn't hold well with me. I emailed HTC on their website with a straightforward question. Will the Evo get gingerbread. This is their response.
Dear Joe Knockenhauer,
It is our pleasure to provide you with the best possible assistance for all questions and concerns you might have regarding our HTC products.
We are excited to announce that the Evo 4G will receive the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update in Q2 2011. Stay tuned for details as we get closer to the update availability. Updates to the HTC Sense experience and htcsense.com are independent of upgrades to the core OS in our phones; therefore, we cannot advise if/when Sense will be included.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for any additional assistance if required, Joe.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 11USCW12ENA000575.

But hopefully this is it! Cyanogen and Evolv have some awesome GB roms, I cant wait to see what the rest of the developers come up with when its finally released.

GINGERBREAD KERNEL!
WHEN DO WE WANT IT?!
A COUPLE DAYS AGO SERIOUSLY
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?!
WAIT AROUND SORT OF IMPATIENTLY BUT AT THE SAME TIME CALMLY WITHOUT CAUSING DESTRUCTION TO PROPERTY BECAUSE MOST OF US DON'T LIKE TO LEAVE OUR BASEMENTS EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE A CELL PHONE AND THAT KINDA SAYS WE SHOULD LEAVE OUR BASEMENT BUT WE DONT LIKE USING THE HOME PHONE BECAUSE MOM IS ALWAYS ON IT SO WE JUST GOT OUR OWN CELL PHONE BUT IT HAD TO BE COOL OR WE WOULDN'T HAVE WANTED IT
Okay, in all seriousness though I remember the HTC Hero guys just emailing HTC like "Hey, we want our Kernel Source, and you have to release it, now." and they did, very quickly.

So what's the deal? Just saw the EVO 3D is OC'd. I know it's with a modified kernel, but damm. What do we have to do to get the Source Code released? Ikve sent them about 15 Emails asking what's going on. Nothing, not one responce. Just a yes we received your email. WTF?
Shifted on my MikShifted G v1.1 powered HTC from neverland using XDA Premium App
The EVO Shift is the bastard child of HTC...not very popular and not NEW...so not many Devs working on it, therefore less complaining. I should gotten an Epic. At least then i'd have root. or even a regular EVO. but I wanted a physical keyboard and a smaller device. Shift fit me perfectly...but I NEED root. Boo!
Well I heard back from HTC. So I guess we still have to wait a bit. But at least they answered. Here's the Email they sent me.
You were looking for the kernel source code for the Android version 2.3 upgrade for your HTC EVO Shift 4G. I would be more than happy to assist you with this software inquiry. We will typically publish the Kernel open source code on http://developer.htc.com for recently released devices or software upgrades as soon as possible. HTC will normally publish this within 90 to 120 days. This time frame is within the requirements of the open source community.
If you need any further assistance, you are welcome to send another inquiry through the HTC website by going through the Support page (http://www.htc.com/us/support) then tapping ‘send us an email’. You should input all the necessary information requested on the page.

Just finishing up getting it past boot, so that anyone willing cam give me a logcat to help. Very close actually.
OK so I just spoke to Rabim, and no, he doesn't have the ROM ready. It wouldn't boot because he's using the wrong kernel, and since there is no kernel for Sense 4, he used the one for AOSP which caused a lot of different issues.
HOWEVER, the guy is new to this, and he just wants to learn as much as he can, so if you're going to flame and write retarded comments about this, please hit yourself in the head with a sharp object first. If you guys have ideas and want to support him, I've messaged andy to move this thread to general section, and there you can share your ideas with Rabim and help him develop the ROM. He's using the recent nexus port of Endeavor.
EDIT: I would offer my help, but I have no time at all atm.
Ok, here we have the OP, who want's to learn & give something to the Desire HD community.
What happens next....
1. The whole community gets behind him/her and provides necessary guidance & advice to achieve the overall goal?
2. Some users take it upon themselves to "nay-say" and just bring the thread down before it's even started?
We want the answer to be 1.
Yet here we are again, and we have 2.
Please guys, don't push away those who want to give something back to the community.
Rabim - I've moved your thread to General until things start to progress. Once you have something together just send me a PM and I'll get this moved into the Development forum.
Also, any problems of issues? Just PM me or add me on GTalk and I will always be happy to help. (Seems like 3/4's of XDA's Million users have me on GTalk now )

Could it be... JB already?
