Well even the stock music app restarts but it doesn't play the music.
Just a hunch, try stopping the song before quitting the player. That way, even if the player restarts, the song won't play.
I haven't used any of these players, just a guess.
Received a tip from Jazux:
I had Froyo-theme.
I switched to HTC-theme and music problem is solved.

I have the same issues with several players I've tried. After pulling out the headphones the music starts to play sometimes, even though the player is not even running.
I have to start the player, click "play" then click "pause".
Isn't it crazy?? I'm surprized there's no solution yet. My phone is running stock firmware 2.2 froyo.

sumtimes happened with me winamp..
it s not rare.. confirmed by market comments..
Just end the app with task manager
But isn't this a general android issue? Since I have this bug with winamp and cloudskipper. Some report it as well with other players.

Hi, anyone know how to keep the music from stop playing after launching another app. Basically, after it's in the background it will finish a song but will stop and not play the next song. If the music app is in the foreground, it will keep playing continuously. I've tried Meridian and the build-in music app, also tried using album or playlist in both apps. both seems to be behaving the same. Phone is rooted running cyangenmod 4.2.10.1. Thx.
This is a known issue that started with Cyan. 4.2.9.1 and hasn't been solved in the latest version.
btw, you should've posted in Cyanogen's thread.
Quick question. Are you using Advanced Task Manager?
there is an app on the market called "ongoing music adapter". hope that solves your problem.
I am not using Advanced Task Killer. Will give the ongoing music adapter a try. thx everyone
hi
i tried debranding rooting upgrafing etc...
right now im just on the generic uk r2ba023
and i noticed that i now have like five playlists on mediascape which i couldnt open nor delete
and then i was trying something else and i opened one of the alarm ring tones from a file manager...astro..
then somehow a different music player popped up
it looks nothing like mediascape and it doesnt have any ads
but the weird thing is that i cant see the application on my application menu and its not even listed on my task killer so i cant even close it...
of course i can stop playing music and it goes away but i cant close it using task killer like other normal apps....
anyone else know what this is and how i can make it appear on my app list??

That's the Android default music player. Nothing to do with root.
SE hid it, because they replaced it with Mediascape. Dunno how to get it to show up though.
oh okay
thank you!
well for now, i just go to astro, play some preloaded media, and it plays the android default player hehee...and I just sometimes use it to create playlists quickly from the phone

It's true!
I have tested 3 different roms, but all of them have a problem: when my vibrant plays some of mp3 files, there are lags during playing. It is just like a sudden pause with wired sounds during the mp3 is playing, but only some of the mp3 files have this problem, others are normally played. I have posted this on other forum and many people says they have the same problem with me.
Have anyone know how to solve this problem?
I'm having that to since I switched to 2.2 roms. I've only been using obsidian so I can't speak from experience using them but I get random pauses while listening to music. The song is still playing but there's no sound for a few seconds.
You're not alone... lol

I have tested eugene's unofficial rom, obsidian, the new Jk6, but all of them have this kind of problem, I found a few threads discussing this problem, I tried deleting wigets on screen and killing apps, but don't work................maybe this is a feature of 2.2 ?
I have not noticed this? I'll try and play MP3's all during lunch.... anything I need to do to try and recreate, or just play a few songs?
This problem has often been attributed to the stock music player. Discontinue it's use and see if the problem continues. There are a plethora of suitable media player replacements in the Market (free & paid). Search these forums if you'd prefer some suggestions as they're plentiful.
I've noticed that jk6 is better in this regard. It's not widgets; in the past it's been most noticeable when changing connectivity, I.e. turning on wifi.

I have tried a third party media player, but the same result happened. Maybe I should try more third party media player?

Sorry,I don't quite understand what is the stock one?
Try using poweramp music player. It's in the app market. It's a paid app, but you can try it for free for about a week or two before the trial runs out.

Whenever someone refers to the word stock that means factory. For example: stock rims on a car means the rims that came with the car from the factory/dealer. Stock music player means the music player that the phone came with out of the box. No 3rd party app

from android market you can download winamp. it works.
For some reason, if my transformer is on standby it will pause music at the end of each song. All I need to do to get it going again is press any key on the dock or if it's not docked just tap the standby button and it continues playing the next song in the paylist. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm running Primordial 3.1 US with stock kernel and using the Google music Player.
It gets really annoying when i'm trying to use it as a music player in my car and i have to hit a button every time i want it to play the next song...
Funny, I just got on the forum to post the same question. I am using the stock music player as well and just noticed this. I didn't get to play with my ASUS much before 3.1 came out but I'm pretty sure it did not do that before 3.1.
For now I just downloaded poweramp as a third party option... but it has some bugs that bother me more than the song stop issue.
Mine does the same, it ihas something to do with the update. Didn't happen before. It also doesn't happen all the time.
Interesting. As I'm reading these postings, I'm listening to music through my Bluetooth headset coming from my Transformer, which is attached to the dock and closed - thus in standby. I'm listening to song after song, just like I expect to. I'm using the google Music Beta application to play my music. On other occasions I've listened to stuff in the google cloud, while right now the music is resident.
Are you using the google Music Beta application? The one with the headphones icon?
Could it be I'm listening to 60's rock?
Bye.
Same issue here. It's rather annoying. I'm experiencing it on 3.1 official update.
I'm in Canada so I can't use the Google music beta but if I'm not mistaken its still the same application. Has anyone tried with the clemsyn kernel to see if its still happening?

This started happening after the 3.1 update. If it's that much of a bother, you can always drop down to 3.0.1.
It irritates the hell out of me as I use the TF as a music player in the car. I've gotten in the habit of blindly reaching down and tapping the power button twice when a song ends. Minor annoyance, but still an annoyance.
I'm also in the Google Music beta (cloud storage) and this issue doesn't happen when playing songs from the cloud. At least it didn't once. I usually just play what's stored locally.
I tried other music players and they all work well, but unfortunately I haven't found one written with a tablet screen in mind. Not that I'm a graphics whore, but a phone UI stretched to tablet size creates usability issues.
Yeah, I noticed that from google music too. I was streaming from the cloud service. Guess that's why it's still in beta...
Same thing here, from local storage.. not from cloud.
Give this a shot: http://launcherpro.com/music/
^ Obviously from the guy who made launcher pro. it's not tablet optimized, but it still looks and runs great.

This app turned my Transformer into a Zune music player. Has the exact same look and feel.
Nice little app and it does solve the "pause while screen off" problem.
Would be nice if the developer makes a Honeycomb optimized version.
I have the same issue where it pauses, kinda annoying

Just downloaded and installed this, very nice interface, I have decided to use this as my default player as I had the pausing playback via HDMI at the weekend whilst the screen was off. I've also put the app on my MIUI HTC Desire HD.
Thanks for the recommendation.

nice find
So every now and then my music player will bug out and start skipping songs, pausing, playing, closing, opening, for about ~30seconds and this happens every now and then, how can I stop it?
Running Faux 1.2.8 and Kernel 1.0.7, and I highly dout it's his rom or kernel because no one else has posted about this problem on his thread.
Can anyone help?
I tried Generation-X rom as well and still nothing, it just plays, pauses, skips, automatically, like it has a mind of it's own.
Help please
