[Q] Music pauses after every song - Eee Pad Transformer General

For some reason, if my transformer is on standby it will pause music at the end of each song. All I need to do to get it going again is press any key on the dock or if it's not docked just tap the standby button and it continues playing the next song in the paylist. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm running Primordial 3.1 US with stock kernel and using the Google music Player.
It gets really annoying when i'm trying to use it as a music player in my car and i have to hit a button every time i want it to play the next song...

Funny, I just got on the forum to post the same question. I am using the stock music player as well and just noticed this. I didn't get to play with my ASUS much before 3.1 came out but I'm pretty sure it did not do that before 3.1.
For now I just downloaded poweramp as a third party option... but it has some bugs that bother me more than the song stop issue.

Mine does the same, it ihas something to do with the update. Didn't happen before. It also doesn't happen all the time.

Interesting. As I'm reading these postings, I'm listening to music through my Bluetooth headset coming from my Transformer, which is attached to the dock and closed - thus in standby. I'm listening to song after song, just like I expect to. I'm using the google Music Beta application to play my music. On other occasions I've listened to stuff in the google cloud, while right now the music is resident.
Are you using the google Music Beta application? The one with the headphones icon?
Could it be I'm listening to 60's rock?
Bye.

Same issue here. It's rather annoying. I'm experiencing it on 3.1 official update.

I'm in Canada so I can't use the Google music beta but if I'm not mistaken its still the same application. Has anyone tried with the clemsyn kernel to see if its still happening?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk

This started happening after the 3.1 update. If it's that much of a bother, you can always drop down to 3.0.1.
It irritates the hell out of me as I use the TF as a music player in the car. I've gotten in the habit of blindly reaching down and tapping the power button twice when a song ends. Minor annoyance, but still an annoyance.
I'm also in the Google Music beta (cloud storage) and this issue doesn't happen when playing songs from the cloud. At least it didn't once. I usually just play what's stored locally.
I tried other music players and they all work well, but unfortunately I haven't found one written with a tablet screen in mind. Not that I'm a graphics whore, but a phone UI stretched to tablet size creates usability issues.

Yeah, I noticed that from google music too. I was streaming from the cloud service. Guess that's why it's still in beta...

Same thing here, from local storage.. not from cloud.
Give this a shot: http://launcherpro.com/music/
^ Obviously from the guy who made launcher pro. it's not tablet optimized, but it still looks and runs great.

This app turned my Transformer into a Zune music player. Has the exact same look and feel.
Nice little app and it does solve the "pause while screen off" problem.
Would be nice if the developer makes a Honeycomb optimized version.

I have the same issue where it pauses, kinda annoying

Just downloaded and installed this, very nice interface, I have decided to use this as my default player as I had the pausing playback via HDMI at the weekend whilst the screen was off. I've also put the app on my MIUI HTC Desire HD.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Google music beta and Audio galaxy my thoughts after trying both.

I just got my Google music beta invite and i have to say im impressed very much so!! Its very easy to install and the ui looks smooth on my phone and on my pc. Works very nicely as a music player on pc and phone and streams everything flawless on 3g or wifi on my phone which im really excited about. I have been using Audio galaxy ever since it came out for android and i love that app as its probably my most used app as it streams all my music perfect over 3g and wifi but i think Audio galaxy has some stiff competition with google music beta!
The only downside i can see so far to google music beta is the limit, it can only stream 20,000 songs and i have over 60, 000 songs. While Audio Galaxy can stream any limit its endless. So far the google music is beautiful and i will be using this for the next week and see if any more probs show up but so far none that i can see. Anything that lets me play music free from my phone streaming perfect is great in my eyes. I guess i have 2 great music players now for my car and everywhere else.
Thanks for the comparison. I've been an avid user of Audiogalaxy for a while now, so I was wondering if Google Music would be better. So far it looks like it has a slicker UI and maybe better playback? Haven't seen the PC UI though, so I'm interested in that.
Audiogalaxy updated their UI and its ugly. I decided to stay on the old version. That aside, I like AG more than google music.

it took me like 3-4 days to upload 7600 songs. but my upload on my cable connection is only 1Mbps. so yeah, it took a long time, but now that's done and i'm really liking it.
Thanks guys. Now waiting for my invite.
Don't mean to hijack the thread but just a quick note to those that will be uploading music to Google Music Beta.
Make sure you have all your tracks organized and cleaned up, as in no duplicates etc... What you upload is what you get. If you have duplicates there is no easy way that I found to clean it up once it is in the cloud. If anyone knows a way to do this I would love to know
Other than that I like the experience so far, streaming has worked well.
yes there is a way to clean it up. Go to albums, songs or artists and u will see a little triangle by it. Click that and u will get lots of options as to edit names, delete artist and more all in that little triangle. Its alot easier to see in artist and albums just click the album and look by the cd cover. I hope this helps u!
Thinking of trying out ag, but how does the client on my phone find my server? I don't have a static ip address and am to lazy to setup something dyndns. Does ag have a server that acts as a node between our own server and the client?

I don't get it.
We're Android users.
We can stream from our own AV system, no limits.
What is the point of this?

I gotta admit. i got google music and it's pretty f'n awesome. I'm not sure what AudioGalaxy is but i've been using subsonic which uses ur computer as a server to push songs to you wherever you are but the downside to that is keeping ur computer on. Is that the same for audiogalaxy?
Anyway, it's all about the cloud. access your music anywhere, anytime. no strings attached.
And damn, the upload is so f'n slow. spent the whole day uploading and it's only got 2.5k songs done. still got another 11k to go. :/

As I remember, yes. But you don't need anything but your router's IP address to get to your own network, then you can use any player you like.

Aside from size limitations, privacy problems, DRM and the major labels and Google being able to yank your music at any time?

Seriously - why bother?
^Wholeheartedly agree...sorry for the late bump...but just got my invite and already I'm not stoked.
Interface is great, app is great, it's google-slick.
Problems (dealbreakers vs. Audiogalaxy):
Can't stream DRM content...some of my favorite music is DRM'ed (thanks to freaking Itunes...but I was not ahem...enlightened back then). I'm somewhat of an audiophile and most options for stripping DRM involve recompressing and already highly degraded compressed file.
Upload is slow...but I can deal
Pretty much every thing ericgill pointed out I agree with. My home server is on all the time...AG is superior...at least for now.
Not a current Vibrant user...but I thought I'd chime in...
cant stream to multiple accounts
The one major blocked on using Google music is that I can not stream simultaneously to multiple accounts. I can do this with AG. My wife and I can enjoy together.

Stock Music App

The Stock music app stops playing after a song finishes when the screen is off. The next song comes up after the screen is unlocked. Is there a way to stop that? If not, is there a better free music app for the transformer?
Thanks.
Amazon mp3 is pretty good and should be in tablet market.
Try searching for songbird or winamp also idk if they are ported to honeycomb yet but both are solid free options.
Trust me (-..-) im from the webs
Winamp is a little buggy, but it works. Amazon music player is good (but I the cloud player doesn't work as well as it could). Songbird has a nice layout, but you can't scroll through an individual song. They all play music after the Transformer shuts down.
I think the stock player has the best layout of them all, so I hope it gets an update to fix this.
Win amp does not allow me to search through my music. It force closes the app almost immediately. I am only able to play music through the widget.

Playing Music w Screen off

I have a surround system that I use the headphone port of the TF to output music on the surround and to wireless speakers through out my house.
When the screen turns off, the pause between songs is very long and eventually just doesn't play another song. When I turn the screen on it instantly plays the next song.
I've been on prime 1.5 and 1.6.
anyone else have issues listening to music when the screen turns off? This also effects the speakers too. Music playback in general. The music is on my microSD card but it also does the same when I copied them to the internal storage.
I have like 6gb of music but just strikes me as odd that while the screen is on it functions normally.

Seems to be a bug with stock music ape. Surprise it hasn't been addressed yet since this isn't a problem on any other music app. Rather I been using PlayerPro which works great and looks good on the tablet.
I use the program 'Screen On' from the market that prevents the screen from turning off when certain applications are running. You can set it up to not turn off when the music player is loaded.
I don't wanna keep the screen on for hours lol. So another music app works?

Use Google Music that way your music doesn't even have to be taking up space on your device or sd card, it rocks and it keeps playing with screen off no prob.

yes. i ve tested a few diff music apps and they all work fine without the screen off issue. seems like its only related to the stock music app. i ended up going with PlayerPro since it has a nice interface and feature wise to me.
Thanks to onebelo who recommended PlayerPro. It transitions with the screen off and interface is as good or better than the stock music app. The widget isn't as nice as Hive Player's, but I have even more problems with Hive Player concerning music playback with screen off(jumps, stutters and doesn't advance with screen off). Can anybody else confirm?

[Q] music stops

Hello,
Since HC 3.1 (I don't remember with 3.0.1) when i'm listening an album, the music player don't go to the next song when the screen is off. The music stops ! I have to wake up the tablet and then the player goes to the next song. It's quite irritating.
When I google this issue, I find out a lot of threads. This issue is known for a very long time now and for a lot of devices. It's because such issues that the iPad remains the best !
Do you know a fix ?
My tablet is unrooted.
Thanks.
i use KEEP SCREEN to let the screen on.
Some player like meridian player has an option to keep the screen on .
These informations are very interesting. Thanks.
I use nemoPlayer instead of Music, for this very reason.
NemoPlayer (called Acer Media in HC3.2) has the same issue only in 3.2. It's a shame.
3.2 fix default player
But does 3.2 fix the bug for the music player?
don't know !
no 3.2 for instance

Well isn't that special.
Well, maybe I'll buy PowerAMP when the trial is up.
Have you tried my app, Hive Player? The full version has code in it to prevent sleep, it works fine on my Xoom under Honeycomb 3.2.
Hive Player is awesome!
@nfalletta, your app hive player is awesome! It's so fast. I've only tried the lite version so far but if I knew it would fix it I would sell you my firstborn for the full version
I didn't realize that one of the differences between lite and full was sleep prevention. I'll give it a go tonight.
My experiences are as follows:
default music player - will continue for a random number of tracks, usually gets to the end of the second track, then pauses at the end. Pressing lock/power button on side of tablet will wake the screen and playback will resume.
Hive Player lite - stops after about 15 seconds, which probably relates to the lack of sleep prevention code nfalletta mentioned
AcerMedia - behaves almost identically to the default player
sweetness and sunshine
Hive player (full) has been working for over an hour now
@nfalletta, Sweet app, its the first app I've bought, and easily worth it
I have the same issue with Pandora and Tiny Shark.
I'm still trying to figure out how to get them to work w/o having the screen on.

Great, glad to hear it. I was going to also suggest the default (googles music player?) should work fine as well, and has the same method of sleep prevention but I guess not! Some tablets are different I guess and not all apps will run that properly, until a fix is made of course. Thanks for buying Hive Player, I should be releasing an update soon for File/Folder support and track sorting for albums.

That's about time. I've bought it but I'm not using ATM because of the missing track sorting. Also the volume is always zero when I start Hive Player.

Same here. Waiting impatiently an upgrade.
Reviving an old thread, but this hasn't been fixed yet has it?
The last update of music.apk (the stock music player from google) fixed the bug.

[Q] Google Play Music [not] on lock screen

Hi all
Anyone here using Google Play Music?
Coming from a GN, I got used to the pure android stuff, Google Play Music being one of them.
I listen to music streaming from Google Music in my car on my phone (connected via 3.5 jack to my aux) almost every day, with the GN when I wanted to skip a song\pause\play I would've simply turn on the screen and use the lock-screen Google music thingie that popped there every time Google Play Music was running, but now it doesn't seem to be implemented into the s4, so I need to swipe down the status bar (considering I'm not using some kind of security lockscreen) and find the next\pause\play buttons among all the accidentally clickable stuff there... OR unlock the phone and use the Play Music app itself.
Now I'm not ranting about one more or less button to press here, really, it's just that while I'm driving every millionth of a second that my eyes are on the road counts, so I liked it the way it used to be, where I didn't even need to look at the screen..
Long story I know..
Anyway, any simple solution? or would I'll just have to get used to it?
p.s - not planning on moving to the stock music player as all of my music is in the Google Music cloud and I really like it that way.
Got the same issue. Sometimes it'll work fine, sometimes nothing on lock screen. Generally I find Google Play Music pretty damn annoying and horrible. Would love a solution as well.
Holy mother of all tits IT WORKS.. I just played a song and the damn thing is there in the lock screen looking at me..
Yep, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't... Would love to understand why.
Does anyone know a solution for this? Perhaps another recommended music player?
