LeeDorid does a Non-sense version?? Ooh, I missed that... *runs off to find patch*
I personally would go with CM. You've had experience and in my opinion it can't be beaten (for an AOSP ROM).

Aaah I somehow missed the non-sense bit

Thanks for all the help guys - i have downloaded "CyanogenMod - 7.0.3-DesireHD" and will be flashing this weekend, their wiki says i should flash a new radio (26.04.02.17 or newer radio), whats the general consesus on this - as with WinMo it was always dont do it if you dont need to.

If you have a radio lower than 26.04.02.17 then at least go to that one.
If you have no problems with your battery life, network / wifi / GPS signals then stick with it (26.04.02.17) but the newer radio's do seem to be showing positive results - Longer battery life, better network / Wi-Fi signal, faster GPS Lock.
There's no harm in trying (and with Radio S-OFF you can change them randomly)...
Unless you botch it and brick your phone...

if so how do i tell which radios are new?

Which ROM, HSPL, Radio, Android version? Post YOUR combinations!

hey,
i am just interested what combination of rom, hspl, radio-rom and android version everyone of you is using. I am reading that some persons have no problems, other have big problem and they are using the same android version. So if you want to give everyone some information, just write down something like:
ROM – HSPL – Radio_ROM – Android_version – what is not working
If you don’t like the thread, you simple should not answer. But I think that people who have problems are interested, what combinations the persons have who are using android without problems.
My combinations:
Chuckydroidrom 5.8.10 – HSPL 2.08 – Radio 2.12.50.02_2 – Mattc1.4
everything works fine, but the market for example is still laggy (and I have the problems everyone has who is using mattc1.4)
sorry for my bad English, I am german and my last lesson is years ago
Artemis V25 FRA – HSPL 2.08 – Radio 2.12.50.02_2 – MattcFroyorc1.4
All features works as designed but huge latency sometime with the interface : phone blocked for 3 or 5 sec then I got control back.
When enabling audio speaking when calling sometime the call failed or the audio speaker is not working : I've to recall my contact.
thanks a lot for your work. I had a G1 before HD2 and I'm glad to experiment again the Droid adventure. This I couldn't not do without all the "Droid members" and "Linus Torvald".
Keep on going
Kind regards
After many tweaks and tries... I am 100% happy. NO ISSUES except camcorder of course.
It is rock solid, fast, and most of the time I forget this is not a "true" android loaded device.

That's about it. Other than the system2.ext replacement for the GPS, there is nothing else.
Calls are loud and clear, no robot talk, data pulls from 3G and HSPSA and switches seemlessly between my WiFi spots I hit throughout the day.
Also, if it matters... in WinMo is have all switches on under Comm Manager. Data, Phone, 3G, WiFi. And Data Roaming is on in Android.
Loving it.

[Q] Telstra T9193; Android Woes

Hi all,
Having a problem getting Android to run on my Telstra HD2. I do the following:
+ Run CLRCAD; all good
+ Run HARET; all good until -- 5 or 6 lines of the linux screen appear and then it hangs, or the screen goes blank depending on the Android build that I try running.
I have an Australian HD2 with the following specs:
Model: T9193 (Telstra)
OS: 5.2.21869
R: 2.07.51.22_2
G: 15.32.50.07u
D: 1.72.82124
I am using the standard SanDisk 16Gb Micro-SD card. I have tried a number of Android builds from gamesquare.co.uk with no luck.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get this running on the stock Telstra ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Peace..
Probably need to upgrade your rom
and radio. Look at some signatures of people who say their build is working good.
I didn't really want to upgrade the ROM and radio since it'd void my warranty..
RE: Telstra woes
I notice you are running 2.07.51 radio. I reckon it's your radio to be honest. I run 2.12.50.02_2 on mine. I have had problems with radios other than x.xx.50.xx radios. There is a link somewhere in here to all the working radios (I think in the definitive guide. Don't worry about warranty issues, if you ever need to deal with that, just flash back to the factory rom (but I take no responsibility .
Cheers
Definitely need to change the radio. You need a .50 radio. That also means you need to put HSPL on the phone. However, be aware that Android is not very stable yet. I couldn't get WiFi working and had all sorts of problems getting it to talk with Outlook. Went back to stock Rom highly modified (CHT etc)
Hmmm indeed the radio could be the problem. I use the 2.07.50.22_2 radio (although my G and and D values are also different from yours) and I've had no problems.
This way if anything catastrophically goes wrong with your phone and you're unable to flash the old radio back hopefully they won't notice
EDIT: Forgot about HSPL, thanks iandg.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm going to bite the bullet... I've just installed HSPL; no problems.. Now to find a radio update..

really? you had that much problems with it dude? I'm still a noob here but I must say that I'm having a really good experience with it at the moment.
My config seems to be working pretty good. Try this....
ROM is NRGZ maxsense rom:

Radio:
2.12.50.02_2
Android build is [BUILD][25.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.6b][Kernel: michyprima 2.6.32.9 #70]:

I have actually been using this as my main OS for the last 2 builds and it is really usable now. I have it syncing direct to my outlook server at work no probs at all (IT have hijacked it with security policies, but this is understandable). Other than that I reckon the DEVs here are absolute geniuses with how well this stuff is running.
Hope this is of some help

e1design, I have the same phone in the States on AT&T. Feel free to use my links below in my sig to get what I'm using. It works just fine. I haven't been on WinMo in weeks.
Done
Firstly, thanks for the replies in this thread.
I have to say that I've read it many times before: "Try the search function" - well it works wonders. With the information posted in thtis thread I was able to piece it all together and I now have Android on my HD2!
There are still a couple of things to iron out [WiFi, battery life and such] but in all a very worthwhile exercise.
Thanks again to the thread responders, and if you're in the same place as I was a week ago wanting to get Android on your HD2 - search on the keywords in this thread and you'll find it's as easy as can be.
Androis on T9193
Am totally thrilled to learn Android can be installed on the T9193.
Where are the best locations to source ROMs?
Suggestions on which are better and why?
Steps to Android..
Look at my sig and go from there..
I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but I'm wondering if any of you using a Telstra HD2 on AT&T (Cingular for me) here in the US have a stable Android install? I've been struggling with this for a long time now. I love Android but I can't get a configuration that will run longer than about 10 hours most of the time. I've gone through all the radios from 2.12.50.02_2, 2.14.50.02, and 2.15.50.14. I've switched my Windows Mobile ROM from Dutty CDLC v15 to OzDroid v1.11, I've switched my Android build from mattc froyo sense v1.8 to froyostone sense v3.2. I've gone through a couple different Linux kernels, currently on hastarin #8. No matter what I do I end up with about a 10 hour life before the device hangs. I have seen improving PPP performance with the different radios and kernels, but the overall device stability is the biggest problem. Could anyone using the Telstra HD2 for Android please post the configs that worked from them on their devices and include what kind of uptime you've achieved? I'm hoping this would really help me. Thanks in advance.
Ok For me I have the telstra HD2 and this is my Config.

(edit) Differences between radios

hello. i searched about radio versions but didn't understand actually....also i didn't find a summary on what radio version do or what they are and so on.
I know that radio version can make the signal better, can make the GPS fix faster, can solve some bluetooth issues.
I would like to talk about the 2 and 3rd point.
2 - GPS fix takes a lot of time...i have already tried everything...with the FASTERFIX region change + cyanogen RC3 it looks it is a lot better than before....still, if a radio version can help, then i would like to try.
3 - i REALLY would like my jabra BT3030 to work fine...as I have already said in some other threads, there is an awful lag betwenn ANY video and the sound that i receive in the earphones...it makes it impossible to play any games or watch any movies with the bluetooth stereo headset. With the cyanogen it became better than before (stock rom)....but the lag is still there.
Will a different radio version help me? What should I do? Which radio version should I install? Will it require a hard reset and re-installing a different rom, or the same rom?
At the moment I am with cyanogen RC3 (the one from 27 march i think).
The only way to really know is to try different radios from this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
07th March 2011:Radio_12.41.60.19_26.06.04.14_M_Test this one is best for me but i don't use any bluetooth devices. GPS fix is ok in this radio but the 1st time it takes up to 10 minutes to lock and you have to be in area that has direct vision of the sky!
PS: you don't need to reset or reinstall the ROM that you have
ops...i am a bit lost. I have read some tutorials but I know that flashing a radio version is very risky so I really want to be sure about what I am doing....
I am with cyanogen, the boot shows 'SHIP S-OFF'. Do I need to have ENG S-OFF ?
And what about RADIO S-OFF ? How can I check if it's already S-OFF ? If I reboot to the bootloader, I don't find any 'system info' to check the radio version.
From the home screen: power button - reboot - reboot to bootloader:
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0007
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.0.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Oct 11 2010,12:47:02
FASTBOOT
VOL UP etc etc.....
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
How can I check the radio s-off, and so on? I ask this because I don't want to brick the phone...I just want to try different radios in a safe way. I know that it can be done even with SHIP s-off....and that 'engineering s-off' is for enthusiast people...well i'm not an expert so yes, I want to do it the safe way but still remain with same rom, no hard reset, and having the possibility to install - unistall radios so I can try different ones without having the risk of doing damage to the phone.
how do i proceed?
How did you root the phone? What procedure did you follow?
i had to downgrade to 1.32 because i had 1.72 stock (not allowing any root from visionary). So i downgraded through the ADB prompt command (flashing a 1.32 rom stock). Then i rooted with visionary (possible because of the 1.32), and then i installed the cyanogen, staying with the root access. At the moment i am then with root access, cyanogen, android 2.3.3.
but i have no idea about the radio part....
So did you follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 ?
And if yes, follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
Then follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403
Also keep in mind - when connecting your phone to the computer make sure you have USB Debugging enabled and Connect charge only! And maybe if all go OK your good to go. Good luck!
Yes thanks but my doubt. Was:
Desire HD with stock kernel (or Apache14's 1.0.7 / 1.1.4 Sense) It will not work on 1.72.405.3 or higher build, or new radio (12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M is ok). Downgrade first!!
I am of course with 1.72, should. I downgrade again??? That means doing everything again (rom and apps and so on)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
You have to downgrade if your coming from stock/you have just bought the phone from a store/ firmware to rooted one only once. Then if you install a ROM from XDA if you noticed into the info for every rom it says ROOTED so you do not have to downgrade every time.
And you can use each radio for each rom. You will find out that littlle of the roms out there are incompatible say with the latest radio

My ENG S-OFF tool works with every ROM if you have root & Radio S-OFF, you would have found that out if you had read the first post carefully
Lol ok i am so afraid of bricking the phone...I'll read better once i get home
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
ok so i successfully flashed a new radio (the one that pockobg said). it doesn't look that better....i left the GPS test on the window and nothing happened...maybe worse than before ?!?!?
Anyway it doesn't matter i'll keep trying. The question is: what's the difference between radios? Are there radios which wouldn't work well in some countries ?
I live in switzerland and the Desire HD I have, I bought that here....which probably is a German version since I'm very near the border and the spoken language is german. Does it make a difference on which radio I should be using ?
Some radios come with different ROMs, for instance i debranded and installed latest HTC ROM, ever since I had poor reception and poor wifi so installed the latest Orange radio and it works much better
I would personally try another radio and see what works best for you
which one is the latest orange radio?
anyway, the gps, wifi, bluetooth reception depend entirely on the radio?
I mean, I am with cyanogen rom RC3, does that make a difference? Will a different ROM have an influence on all the radio things or
ROM x + RADIO z = 10
ROM y + RADIO z = 10
?
Gps, wifi, bluetooth reception depend on the radio but the ROM also takes part. Why don"t you try some other ROM like LeeDroid's 2.2.3 + 2.2.9 kernel? Maybe your problem is ROM related, and make shure you do a wipe.
Few advices for the GPS:
1. First lock takes time - from 10min to 30min
2. Get some where outside where you have a clear view of the sky and away from tall buildings
3. If you are using a case it may be a problem
One question - what program are you using?
PS:
Now i"m using 04th April 2011: Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 - Unknown source and i think its the best radio for GPS.
The only one who can determine which the best radio version is, is actually you. You have to try various versions to see which one is best for you and your carrier. Personally I always use the latest version unless I have any radio related issues like poor reception or battery life. I now use the latest one from the unknown source which seems to be the best so far.
I see you are on rc3. I would flash the latest nigthly first which has a lot of improvements and bug fixes before trying other radios.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
I have the latest radio ( 12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 ) and I'm pretty happy with it.GPS is still a bit slow but faster than with the stock radio. You should try it, but it can also be a rom problem.
the description says 'unknown source ---- be careful while flashing' so I was bit afraid....is it any different from other radios? Do I flash it normally? Why is it risky? What risk is there (if there is any risk) ?
I have been flashing radios now once every 3 days....if you say that this radio is not dangerous (lol that description in the radio thread freaked me out) then I'll try it out today.
We don't know where it has come from, from which rom it has been extracted but it is absolutely safe to flash. Many users have done it with no problems.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
cool! an alien radio. I'm installing it right now.
IN CASE it doesn't make things better (although with the radio I have at moment I can get with gps status a fix in 13 seconds, sometimes in 40 seconds, sometimes 5 minutes aren't even enough...).........my question is:
what are the steps to upgrade to the cyanogen latest version? At the moment I am with the RC3. I could upgrade and see if it improves something. But my worries are the backup.....I mean I have literally hundreds of applications, savegames, home setups through adw launcher ex, widgets and so on. I know there is titan backup (which i have) but i don't really know how to use it. Will it backup ANYTHING (and I am speaking about game savegames, home screen setups and so on). ?

Noob question

Hi, i have a branded phone. It's brand is SFR which is from France. I'm in VietNam and i use this phone normally with other carriers here.
So HTC just released the 2.3.3 update. But from what i know, my phone does not receive the update directly from HTC but from SFR instead. If i want the update now. I have to unbrand it.
If i want to unbrand it, what should i do ? Root it then S-off and Eng-off , and install an unbranded ROM? where can i find a stock unbranded rom of HTC?
Also what's with the radio stuff, i seriously dont know anything about that, i'm afraid if i install new rom my phone may not work because it's different radio ?
Can someone please explain, i'm very new and very confused. Thanks!

If you going to go to the effort of rooting etc. you may as well install a customised ROM (LeeDroid's if you want Sense, Cyanogen if you don't for example).
Radio is the software that controls network, bluetooth, GPS and Wifi. Read the radio threads in the development forum for more details.
Flashing a radio is the most dangerous thing you can do so do it last and read, read, read and understand before you do. Don't worry, you can install a ROM over the radio you have now.
All your questions about what to do and how are answered in the development forums.
[EDIT] Please ensure that it is clear from your thread subject what the question or issue is.
1. It will likely get you a quicker response.
2. It's just bad etiquette not to do so.
Hi. Thanks for the reply. i've read all the instruction in the android developement forum. I'm just confused about this radio stuff.
So basically my phone's radio is safe to install any ROM now? Is there any other way to unbrand my phone without installing a whole new ROM? or is there any way to grab the ROM from HTC and install it right now? Thanks very much !
If its pure HTC Sense your after, you can have the latest HTC Gingerbread with root.
You can find it HERE
Otherwise Android Revolution, CoreDroid, LeeDrOiD, et al are all good choices.

The radio is probably the most confusing not helped by the fact that what works for one won't for another. It's a try and see thing.

As a rule yes. But different ROM's have different recommendations as to what radio should be used with them (not that we take notice!), the worst case is that you may get worse battery life or worse signal. Won't brick your phone by having a mis-match.
No, no other way as the branding is part of the ROM (and even then some branding might be left and you will have to change the splash screen / boot animation as well).
No, at the moment it is not available from HTC directly.
IMO it is worth the effort to root, S-off your phone.
Once done you have access to all varyities of the different roms.
They differ very much from each other concerning speed, smoothness ...
Try it out and you will be satisfied.
Here at xdadevelopers you'll find everything you need.
i used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961406
Keep in mind that its an inspire but really just t-mobile's name for a desire.
After you get that done you can download any rom and install it through clockworkmod.
With that one click you don't have to worry about radios and such unless the rom says you have to.
Hi, thank you all for the quick replies, i'm gonna try those stuff out !!!

Battery Drain - Results

Hi Guys & Girls
Would just like to share my results with people and get a good average of other peoples current battery drain. I have just installed the HTC Battery Tool xap
and i thought my current reading was shocking.
So i turned all background tasks off and put it in Airpalne Mode, then set the test for 30 secs and the reading for "Battery Current" was -146. With Airplane Mode off and Data Connection and WiFi on reading is -192.
So i am really curious to know what other peoples phones are reading, regardless of their ROMs, as I've seen in some threads people talking about averages of -46.
View attachment 856493
Apply camera trick ant then you'll get -40 - 30.
How to apply it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041912
Regards
-40?..that is bad, mine always shows -7 to -11
and i am thinking of how to get it to -2 to-7..(some guys have that with cotulla's rom.)
.may be your sd card is not good enough for wp7 (try sandisk)
Just tried it again and now it's -319. I am using Sandisk 16gb Class 4, which is supposed to be one of the best.

Can someone please put a link in this thread to a decent guide on how to change the radio in the rom you are about to flash. I will then post my findings.

Thank you for link. Funny identical set up to mine. I just tried stand by test and it read -29. Out of curiousity, what is your reading with WiFi on and not in stand by?

Radio Hardware & Software
Ok
Just read through thread on flashing radios and would appreciate some clarity/help?
On my "About" settings, I have two radio versions:
Hardware: A.102.0.D4
Software: 5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U
Now what they are saying is the above software version is proving to be the best for WP7 (at the time of testing) but yet can be changed by replacing the Part00.bin file.
I am then reading that if you change your radio to 2.15.50, this works best for EU HD2's and this can be done by Hard SPL method.
So am i to understand that there is in fact 3 radio versions on my phone?
Or does this 2.15.50 replace the above Hardware (A.102.0.D4)?
If it is a third radio, where can i find what i currently have installed?
Can i just run the CustomRUU now to replace it or do i need to reflash ROM?
Any help would be gratefuly recieved as this does get confusing to a novice.

no i dont think so i have 2.15.50 also

2.15.50 can be by CustomRUU
5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U have to reflash all over but in this case you already have it.
Ok, discovered that what I am wanting to change is my radio firmware. Can anyone please tell me where I see the current firmware number?

Update
I changed my firmware to 2.15.50 and can confirm after an hours testing I am getting -5 to -7 after Standby and -162 during normal use. Compared to my results on the first page this is a great improvement. Hope this helps anyone who is also facing the battery drain I was.

Field is battery current that shows drainage and yes example 30s interval switch off/standby and wait about a minute and go to the app and see where -xxMa is.
