[Q] X8 Multitouch?

Hello!
My question is simple: How can I get Multitouch feature on my X8?
The Answer is simple, too: You can't get it.
The hardware supports it (IIRC). Sony just needs to update the software to support it.
Thanks, I hope they will do this quickly!
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Well, they appear to be doing it to the X10: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777415
Hopefully they will bring this to the X8.

You are wrong, as X10 will get it, X8 will get it too,as the the screens are alike.
With 1.6 und 2.1 there is NO Multitouch support.

Because of this, sony could bring an update out at any moment to allow multi-touch.
Think main question is whether or not SE choose to keep the x10 "more exclusive" by not enabling double-touch on the x8.
On the x10 minis, you can hardly fit 2 fingers on the screen anyways
You could be right. But the X10 is nothing fantastic anyway, I don't see what they have to loose by enabling multi-touch on the X8.

But the question is, does HTC Wildfire have the exact same touch display as X8? Because that's what important, not the android version.
Even dual-touch will be good enough for me, so it depends on SE when they will release the update...
Damnit.

I've heard that both x8 and x10 have "only one layer of the capacitor screen, so multitouch can't be real for them", but I don't know if that's true. I hope not.

Guess what, we-ve got semi-pinchzoom now :>
We should open the x8 to see the chip, and compare it to the WildFire's chip.
I think that they will be the same more or less.
ByTheWay Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is an older phone than the x8.
Sony Ercisson is a capitalistic pig.
Well Xperia Arc or so called x12 has dualtouch only.
I'll go for the Desire HD, Galaxy S or Iphone 4 rather than the Xperia Arc.
Well if they decide to enable multitouch to the Xperia x8- win on both sides.

Multi- or dual-touch depends on touch digitizers, not chip. There's someone working on a kernel module that can enable a limited verion of pinch-to-zoom.
None of the makers of smartphones are in it for the goodwill. They're all capitalist organisations out there to make money for their shareholders. To say that x10 is older than x8 will be to compare a jaguar from 2 years back with a new ford fiesta of today.
Go to Custom Kernel in Development Section, there, we talk about custom kernel with Multi/Dual Touch
That can't be possible there are already multitouch kernels out there for the x10 but im not sure about the x8 il look it up for u

Well.. couple of points.. (one's a bit picky!)..
it's DLNA (not DNLA!)
and
I believe that you can download mediasharing apps from the market which enable DLNA.. I haven't tried any of them, cos I don't have any DLNA kit.. but they are there..
Lol. That's what I get for posting from my phone.
I know there are apps in the market, that's not the point. Sony has been telling us for almost a year that we would have native support and now are dropping the update even though the phone supports it. Its like the dual touch they were to lazy to enable until we complained about it

One of the apps that I like is the 2Player music app. DLNA categorizes all the media automatically and since I have 8K songs on the network, I don't have to try to cram them onto the phone (though I do have a 32G card with 5K music files). Allows playlists, and all the auto categories. Free too.
Apparently the DLNA app from the arc dump works on the X10. I don't get why SE couldn't just port it themselves.. It would take all of 1 day to test it out

There's no business case for DLNA guys! In Arc they put HDMI becuase they realized that there are not so many devices on the market that supports DLNA!
Mugur
http://mugur-ionescu/tag/xperia
How does it matter if its a good business case or not? They promised it, and I don't see why they should disappoint us yet again. What will they do next... perhaps there's an EOL implemented into the hardware - everything will stop working on the day the arc is released

[Q] Any chance to raise a project Xperia Play - PS3 pairing?

I've been searching the net for a solution for pairing our xperia play to ps3 so we can use our xperia play as a ps3 controller.
I'm sure there're lots of people here who can donate to this project.
I'll donate my lifetime filesonic.com premium account and money too.
PSP, PS Vita, Sony Vaio and Bravia screens can be paired to ps3 so why our xperia play not?
Is it maybe the bluetooth stack. That's where I would start.
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
I'm not a developer nor programmer so I'm looking for a recognize developer who be able to develop such feature.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible unless you have the pairing keys from the ps3 and even with that someone needs to completely reverse engineer the protocol. So I don't think anyone would put that much work into something with little gain.
i didn't thought it's such a really hard project to do.
i think it's a app that SE ought to develop.

I don't know how you'd be able to use R2 and L2, but I'm all in for the idea.

You lose R2, L2, R3, and L3, so I don't see the point of this.
Is the request for remote play pairing? I would love that. Or is it for pairing xplay as controller for ps3?
xperia play is still more compatible than the old PSP in the above two cases - at least it has the right (not just left) analog stick and maybe under some scenarios tapping on the touch pad right and left centres could emulate R3 and L3 buttons (or R2 and L2 as an option) so I say it would be great to use for PS3 remote play.
Regarding yet another case: PS3 controller connecting to xplay - I know there is an app for this but because i don't have the cable to connect the two I have not tried it yet but planning to do it with my sony tablet s first as it sucks for gaming without the hardware controls.
I hope the above helps.
hi ps3taker,
i mean to use xperia play as a ps3 controller but i'll be glad if we can use our xperia play as a remote play.
that's the whole point in playstation phone, isn't it?
and i saw the video pairing ps3 controller to xperia play, i need to root my device for it i think.

Have you played a PS3 game lately? While this may be fine for some games, many games use the L2 and R2 triggers heavily, and having to press them with your thumbs instead of your forefinger can make a game quite tough to say the least.
Sounds like a good tech demo but I just don't see the need to put extreme effort into it.

i just thought to take our xplay to the edge, but i see now we shall wait to ps sdk in november, maybe the sdk will contribute to take the xplay to the edge with revolutionary ideas.

XPERIA Z Playstation certified multiplay + HDTV gaming!

Just came across this video on youtube!
You may or may not know but the Xperia Z is playstation certified, but being my first Xperia device after the X10, i was totally taken aback seeing the XZ allows you to play multiplayer games with other devices
but most surprising of all as shown halfway through the VIDEO, you can actually mirror the game onto your TV like a console and play on your TV, sorry if i'm acting like a noob, but i did not know that was even possible and SUPERCOOL!
Definitely going to get a MHL cable now, i can see many features and benefits of the mirror TV function
IT is in French so if anyone comes across an english version please post.
Also what are your thoughts on Mirror TV Feature on the XZ and what would be the reason you want to mirror your XZ to your TV if you did?
One-touch mirroring is designed to work together with an NFC-enabled BRAVIA® TV

Apparently this playstation thingy with sony is old news. Already existed since 2011. But I just wished we could take advantage of at least PSP games in it. I mean come on PSX is way too old for the likes of Xperia Z. The graphics doesn't even match up now.
PSX is so like GTA san andreas when it comes to graphics. Pixels!!!
