for some reason it's different on different people's devices. I run mine at 1.25 and it will usually reboot under heavy stress above that setting, other people can run up to 1.4 or 1.45 and remain stable.
Ya I've notice the reboot under stress running at 1.4 so im at 1.35 and it seems flawless so far but on the quadrant test it comes to about 1350 when a t mobile rep tested his g2 he showed around 1600+ on complete stock.

Mine is odd
When I first started using overclock about a month ago I was running 1400 at low voltage and everything was cool. Then silly me I tried 1450 at medium and it was constantlty hot. Then i tried 1450 at ultra low voltage and from then it constantly reboots at anything over 1250!!!!...? So now I run 1100 at ultra low voltage. I guess I'll benchmark it and see what I get.
Is anyone else's shift over heating?...if not what can I do to prevent it from heating up

Is the phone overclocked? if so turn the CPU scaling down

For some reason it was overheating bad, all I did was reboot the phone and it stopped over heating.....I do have the x99kernal and have it set to on demand 1209 max 245 min, that's not too bad is it?

No I run mine at 1.5 mostly they just get hot from time to time

Run my Shift all day at 1.6gHz, no issues. Once in a while with heavy use it will get warm. But not hot. My TP2 used to get really hot. After looking into it, turned out it was a battery issue.

What are we talking about for normal battery temperature vs one that I should worry about? I have serious battery issues and I am on my second phone because the 1st one wouldn't last more than 2 hours. I barely have any programs running and it won't last more than 4 hours. Thanks!

I had that happen to me 2 weeks ago at a baseball game... The phone was in my pocket as it always is, and the thing started getting extremely hot to the touch within minutes... Also using x99 with kickass governor, 245 min/806 max.
And I did the same thing to fix the problem as you..
Now if I can only figure out why I have no data at all today on the phone..
My girlfriend's Shift began overheating at a wedding not long ago. Was able to track it down to K9 Mail, which was stuck constantly polling the 3G connection. Even a reboot would only stop it for a while. Uninstalled and reinstalled K9 and all was well after that.
Same thing happened to me once when I tried the Pulse app I think. I was looking for a different RSS reader. It got stuck updating or something. I was sitting at work and my phone felt very hot. I noticed data was being transfered and checked the network usage using the *#*#4636#*#* and sure enough Pulse had downloaded over 200mb worth of data that morning on 3G. Once I removed the app it has been fine. I am stock rooted.
My phone keeps turning off randomly in my pocket and im missing calls only done this since i overclocked. Any ideas why. G3 mod. Jps rom. Rooted and oclocked to 1300mhz

Is this happening after u flashed G3Mod kernel? Which version of G3Mod do u use? 1.7 is the most stable kernel of G3Mod. Check if the same happens on G3Mod 1.7 Lite.
Im using 1.5 extreme. It was ok when i was running jpd but i flashed jps then re-flashed g3 mod and it turns off 2 to 3 times a day

Well as far as I can recollect, 1.5 Extreme has an OCed bus which causes random freezes even if you use a lower CPU frequency. I suggest you to use the latest version of G3Mod kernel.
I will give it a try. So is 1.7 the latest

This has been happening with me ever since Kyrillos 3.0...
I always thought it was a problem with the battery just slipping out because it is quite loose. I put a piece of paper on the bottom to make sure it's jammed up into the connection part at the top. I tried using Blu-tak once under the battery but didn't like the idea.
Im starting to think that as soon as we start mucking about with our phones we have nowt but problems. Im going to get another phone so i have one to use and one to mess around with.

I am running faux's newest kernel on my att atrix, Allen build 4. I've noticed that upon cold reboot, the frequency scales correctly. after a while however, the phone stays at the max frequency. I've tried stopping running archives that I thought might be causing this, hit it doesn't help. Is it the kernel?

That's what I thought originally, but after killing all the apps that were running, it still stayed at the frequency.
I have a hypothesis, and i'm going to test it in a second. I think that when I plug my phone into my laptop dock, it for some reason locks the frequency at max.
EDIT: It's the webtop mode. If I plug the phone into my laptop dock, and open the laptop, the frequency is locked at maximum frequency. I'm going to flash the stock kernel again, and see what happens next.
EDIT2: So it's definitely faux's newest kernel. It might just be me, but it definitely is locking to max frequency. Stock does not have this problem.

I have seen the same behaviour. Just got my HD Dock yesterday. When I pulled it out it was warm/hot. I thought it was just the clock/screen using power or whatever. Then I opened SetCPU while in the dock and it showed a constant 1000Mhz. When I unplug it still shows that frequency. Too bad

I think this is a known issue with faux's new kernel. When you place the phone into a laptop dock it clocks the CPU at max until a reset. I guess the same thing happens with any dock

i have recently made a decision to delete the set cpu and install cpu masters from the market ,i think so for after 24 hours i think it does make a difference um
i notice lower temps even after an hour of useing the webtop or just an average temp overall i am useing the faux 2.0 kernal 1.3 oc but its set at 1.2
my profiles are screen off 456 max-216-min
the rest are 1200max 216-min

I don't have a dock but I just installed _unknown's hdmi/webtop mod while running faux's enhanced stock 0.2.0. Noticed my phone was really hot after trying it out, even with the screen off and noticed a constant 1000 max. in setCPU.
Cleared my cache & dalvik, reinstalled kernel, jugg's battery fix, cleared my battery stats, rebooted into recovery (figured it wouldn't hurt since it defaulted to that option), then fixed permissions and restarted. Everything seems to be back to normal.
Will see what happens when I run the webtop again and report back later. Currently CPU is showing 36C and battery is at 32C. Are these acceptable temps?
using the latest kernel, and the nofrills or the system panel can not display the current frequency.......
i rly dont get whats ur problem
Mine no-frills is fine, but CPUspy has gone bonkers. It shows ether nothing or 100% deep sleep, which can't be right, since I have been using my phone..

Edit: there is an update that corrects this issue

CPU spy works good for me. Yep franco 29 kernel with CM7. No problems, shows usage on variuos freqs. Using SmartAss v2
attached the proof. It was rebooted so it shows little time.
