Many smartphones autocorrect the typos that we make on their physical keyboards.. would love that on this dock too.. Is there any soft keyboard that supports autocorrecting while using a physical keyboard? The ones on here don't seem too..
On the desktop at least misspelled words show up in red (under google chrome or most mail clients.) - but there isn't any indication that you're making a typo on the transformer..

ps - keyboard dock has been working great for the past hour or so

I agree - I've become completely reliant on spell checkig
There should be something though. under the keyboard settings there is a heading "Physical Keyboard" and there is a option called Auto-Replace - correct mistyped words. I've never seen it do anything though? I use Thumb Keyboard for my screen keyboard, maybe that is messing with it?
I found one that seems to work, called ultra keyboard (there's a trial).
One thing that makes it different is the fact that you can select corrections rather than just allow the first one (you can select them with the arrow keys, so your finger doesn't have to touch the screen).
Let me know how it works for you.

swiftkey tablet workes kindOF
using swiftkey tblet will help you a lot if you are writing english, but it will mess up your keybord if you want to write in german or an other language, because it will change your keybord into english loosing all special charecters. even though I have a german keybordlayout, the instance I set up swiftkey as my touchkeybord my phisikalkeybord gets changed.
otherwise it would be perfect because swiftkey actually gives you the option for wordsugjestion while using phisikalkeybord,..
I am now looking for an office app with spell check since I do a lot of article writing on the the TF in german,.. any suggestions?

If this has been posted before please delete, but I believe I have solved my issue with the physical keyboard missing keys. I turned off all the software keyboards and swype it seems to have done the trick.
Problem is I have to change it everytime I switch batteries. Is there a way to do thi?

Yes, I've read that swype (enabled) is most likely the culprit.

Bingo, it can be annoying at times. When typing long emails and texts, be sure to go back and proofread what you just typed (good practice anyway). Turning off swype did seem to help a bit.

would make it a software issue then..not hardware =D good to know
I was able to type several paragraphs with all the soft keyboards except for Swype disabled, and I don't have the missing key issue anymore. I simply disabled the Samsung and Android keyboards. I use Swype way too much to disable it.

I use keyboard manager to help with this...
Install keyboard manager along with touchpal from market free (completely).
I have Swype enable and have it set as my portrait keyboard
Then when I switch to landscape keyboard manager services changes my kb to touchpal in a fraction of a second without any interaction.
What awesome about touch pal is that it offers some of the best spelling correction word prediction with our hardware keyboards. Takes a while to get used to but by far is the best solution for me as not only does it fix the random keydrops but it also spell checks and suggests words on the fly.
I was using the Windows Mobile Version for a long time before changing to android, but absolutely love Swype for portrait one handed.
In a previous post I made I pointed out that the lag I found to be software and not hardware... if you long press on many letters you will get a popup instead of repeat keys these seem to be the cause of the drops, after using touchpal, if you long press a letter it quickly repeats.

Cool tip! Definitely want to try this... but searching in the Market, I couldn't find Keyboard Manager .. and not sure the Touchpal that comes up is what you're referring to. Is it still available?

Trust me I have been using CooTek products for years they are a reputable company... Chinese or not.
PS you could try with another keyboard but I think the key is touchpal, all i can say is if the keyboard your using gets rid of the OS default popup that happens when you long press on a key it should work. I wish there was a dev that could just figure out how to disable this all together as it happens when there are no soft keyboards active,,, I am sure this is the cause to our missed keys try ee or oo in words 7/10 times it will miss if you are fast this is because its trying to determine the length of time the key was pressed to display the box of options.
I can't get keyboard manager to recognize touchpal as an option...any ideas?
NM, have to play with the actual system settings first
My question really is in general has anyone had any issues with the iconia and bluetooth? Specifically the Motorola keyboard that is "made for" motorola devices? Also, does anyone else have an immense amount of lag when typing in a browser (Android browser, SkyFire, Dolphin I experience it in them all)? It's pretty annoying but I'm not sure it's normal.

It doesn't seem to matter which keyboard I use at all. Typing that I was using the Motorola keyboard but I have also used the thumb keyboard and experience lag. I get a little when I use it on my phone but it is significantly worse on the tablet.
I can confirm thumb keyboard lags......do you experiance it with the default keyboard or t9 as well??

It doesn't lag on google.com so much as just whenever you're using a keyboard that isn't the Android stock keyboard (which obviously isn't the best or I wouldn't be using a different one) But only in the browser. It seems almost like a bad emulator...that's what it acts like anyway.

It doesn't matter where I type in the browser... address bar, in the forums, (for example, replying to this). When I'm typing in, say, docs to go or calendar, it types smoothly, but anytime I type in the browser, there is considerable lag (somitimes 5+ seconds)
That's strange. I can't say I have had lag anywhere on any keyboard I have ever used on this tablet. I have the android keyboard, hackers keyboard, QQ (which is a chinese one), Swype, and the WiiControllerIME. I've also tried others and deleted them all, but I have never had lag.
im using the acer bluetooth keyboard with my iconia and i dont have any lag. i dont get any lag when using stock softkeyboard or hackers keyboard.
I get lag only when typing in boxes such as that of quick reply on xda.....or that of captcha words.....

Sorry for posting here but it is only place I can as it's my first post.
So I've turned to XDA as I thought I would bring my TF101 into teh world of JellyBean.
Following the excellent guides on here I easily rooted and flashed the thing with Team EOS Jellybean ROM.
Went like a dream and a big thank you to the people who have invested so much time and effort.
I have a strange issue though:
Type in the address bar of the browser or in a Tapatalk post the keyboard pops up
Type one letter and it minimises.
I touch to type again and it appears
I can only type a few letters (sometimes only one) before it minimises again
this continues ..
The keyboard is basically unusable. Anyone had a similar issue?
Sounds like you are using the TeamEOS 4 ROM.
From TimDuru's page is notes:
- Default AOSP Soft keyboard crashing if using auto-suggestion
=> workaround: Go to the keyboard settings and change to Auto-correction off + Show correction suggestions:always hide.
You can also fallback to gapps 20121229 (no swipe feature with that version though)
See here for more issues and workarounds: http://public.timduru.org/Android/tf101/eos4/

I have same kind of problem but with Opera mobile browser. Text input in address bar works fine but input for any other input boxes in websites is pain in the ass. I manage to write one or two letter for example in login screen when keyboard vanished. That is strange since Opera uses its own keyboard layout.

OK I got this sorted out. Fistly Opera uses Android keyboard. I installed from google play Jelly bean keyboard (VLLWP) and it works fine.
Hi,
yesterday, I've received an update which I've installed now:
AP,CP: I9505XXUAME2
CSC: I9505VFGAMDC
Since then, the stock email app is acting very weird. When writing text, as soon as you use any punctuation, exclamation mark, question mark... , the cursor goes crazy and jumps around, making weird corrections to text that has been previously written. Even just copy/pasting an URL into empty email and trying to enter new line will have weird, unusable result.
This bug is easy to repeat:
- open stock e-mail app (not gmail!)
- start writing a new email
- write a sentence in a language of yours (I've tried English, as well as my native language that's supported on the phone)
- as soon as you enter any of the following: . ! ? and press enter (new line), the just written sentence will get split in two and some random editing will be applied as well
Anyone else experienced such behavior? I'm on stock firmware, not rooted, stock keyboard.
Not keen to factory reset just yet, as it involves a looooot of re-setting everything
Thanks!
G.
Very similar bug appears on mine too.

Installing Swype keyboard from the Google play solved this problem! It's some kind of bug in SwiftKey, stock keyboard is based on SwiftKey. There's incompatibility between stock keyboard and stock email client.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
At first I thought it was swiftkey causing the issues so then went back to stock and it did the same. The explanation above saying that stock is based on swiftkey may explain why.
I've since installed AquaMail as a stopgap....swiftkey and stock keyboard work as intended with this.
And, to be honest, even though aqua mail was going to be a temp solution, I'm quite, no, very much liking it and will probably continue to use it as my main client.

To wrap it up. There are two solutions:
1. change your keyboard to Swype or anything EXCEPT stock keyboard and SwiftKey
2. change your email client without need to change your keyboard (!!!)
It's an obvious bug that should be fixed in future software releases.
There is a third alternative
3. Disable the auto-correction option on the standard keyboard. The suggestion will stay on, so you can touch the corrected (or predicted) word to change what you typed, but it will not be inserted automatically when you touch only the space bar. Which is not too great a penalty

Same issue for me....is this what Samsung meant when it said the phone is a Life Companion - it will give you **** problems same as life does?
I've got a wireless USB keyboard and mouse (just plug and play) attached to my Ouya. So I can pretty much use it as a basic pc.
Trouble is, internet browsing kinda sucks on this device. What's everyone using for browser?
I've tried Chrome and Dolphin, aside stock. But I'm not really happy with any of them.
Suggestions? thanks.
cheers.

Why aren't you happy with Chrome/Dolphin?
I use Miren (http://miren.cn/) on my mobile, but I imagine Chrome would be the best for Ouya. I can't remember where the English Miren site is, but if you click the green down arrow, it will download, and when you run it, it will be localized to your language (There is at least English; that's the version I use).
I like Dolphin HD, it's my favorite browser on Android. I've heard Opera and Firefox are both pretty good, though.
I haven't tried Chrome on the OUYA, but I don't like it very much on my phone/tablet, either.
Thanks for the replies guys. My main concerns deal with wanting to use keyboard and mouse exclusively while browsing (I think I have this part figured out since I can use alt tab for app switching, and have mapped HOME to FN+F1 on my keyboard). But also feel like both dolphin and chrome have some rendering issues and flicker here and there.
I've actually been using the stock browser most, as it seems to accept more keyboard shortcuts like CONTROL+L for the address bar.
But I'm still gonna check out some other options.
Thanks again.
Side note: Flipboard is a big WIN on a big screen. So that'll do for news browsing and such.

Not to mention it doesn't address my issues at all, as it's lacking basic navigation buttons. The blue board controller doesn't even have a HOME button.

Give lightning browser a try. You'll have to side load it but it has the feel of a real browser and works good.
