I thought i read some time ago when PocketCM was in early development that it used a third-party library for the scrolling up and down that it does.
Does anyone know what that library was? I would like to try my hand at developing a cool new app for the xda-developers community, but have no clue where to start looking for that library.
Though i have googled and searched this site first, maybe im not using the right keywords.
Thanks all
No one knows?
You could asked tene. He is the developer of PocketCM. www.pocketcm.com

snachez, the point of of a forum is to find out information and talk about certain things, ask help, etc. Heck maybe someone has the same question as i do. And a forum is a great repository for information, so instead of bugging tene in this case, every time another person has a question, they search the forums and they find the information. You see, one question, many people answered. So technically, its not cluttering.
And just as a general rule of thumb, being rude will not get you anywhere in these forums. Just thought i would mention that as you have just joined us somtime last month.

I wasn't trying to be rude, but being the huge long time user you are... 23 posts over 18 months (slow down, son) you must be aware of the forum rules. Dont ask questions in a new thread unless you are contributing .. that's what the top sticky is for.
Sticky: Questions & Answers, ask here! *DO NOT POST A NEW THREAD UNLESS YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING*
As well, if you haven't received an answer a week after the initial post, you could logically assume that nobody knows... no need to ask if they don't. Contacting the actual developer would have been my first move, but meh.. maybe that's just me.

Please answer me this - IS IT SO HARD TO USE THE "SEARCH" FUNCTION?

In principle, you are right. The guy could have searched. But what are you, the search sheriff? Your posts rebuking people for not searching are cluttering the boards almost as much as the uninformed questions. Is there a problem with just ignoring the post?
Not only that, but the search function on these boards is notoriously bad. It just doesn't work well. For people who are very familiar with the xda fora, it's easier to navigate and find what you are looking for. But for the uninitiated, this place is just a huge maze of information.
The interesting thing is that you bothered to find some helpful threads for him. Why not do that without berating the person? Or if it really bothers you that much, why not just ignore the question? Do you pay for the bandwidth here?

You post is full of F.A.I.L. but I'll pretend I'm naive and bite.
What are you??? the anti-search sheriff? Posting in a junk thread doesn't clutter anything especially if it will teach the poster something and he will never again do it. Now, posting junk threads is clutter. Asking the same question 1 million times is clutter. If I ignore it, he will do it again...GET IT?
I have never had any issues with the search function. Maybe you are doing it wrong. About the huge maze of information - that's the point isn't it??? If I ignore him, he will do it again...GET IT? (second time)
Don't be a smartass next time. Your post didn't contribute with anything and is totally irrelevant (just like this one is). At least I did something good by showing him the info/forum rules threads and an answer to his question. What did you contribute with your post?

i say make another section for android hd2 general thats the least they can do for all of this , so the rom section will remain only for rom and released apps ....
thats probably a good idea.

I agree... android is so popular on the hd2... I believe it requires a whole new section for rom development" (if you want to call it that now), "Themes and apps" and "general"... if it doesnt happen now it should at least happen in the near future.
any mods care to reply to this? I think its a serious issue and its against the rules of XDA..make me a MOD for a day, I'll clean at least this section up with swiftness

I'm thinking someone needs to have less of an attitude, ok I know some threads are not totally necessary but to start being disrespectful through arrogance towards moderators is not called for & I take it frowned upon. Your better response to your issues would surely to direct your distaste to a mod directly instead of adding your own ill-appointed remarks.......

No disrespect here. I am asking them to do their jobs, plain and simple. XDA is huge, I know it must be a tough job staying on top of all the posts here. I have run my own boards in the past and no where near the amount of posts..but keeping on top of them only equals a better experience for all. It makes searching easier as you dont get redundant posts, spread over numerous sections.
My reason for stating "start with this one" was simple, without that little line some one hear would inevitably say I am no different by posting here, in this section, with my added line I am saying I dont care if this post gets deleted, moved or what ever, start with this one if you want.
I come over here from the Nexus One section, prior to that it was the G1 section and am use to Mods that keep things clean and narrow..I just figured thats how XDA was in general.

Yeah, josh needs help in the android for hd2 forum.. officially, there is currently only 1 mod here, dharvey4651... we may need more in here since things are starting to become as messy as it is now..
many duplicate threads asking the same questions, asking irreverent qns when android development for hd2 is now still at SD card phase.. and the "ask your questions here thread" having mostly questions and no1 answering..
Mods need to help by deleting useless repetitive threads and if possible give temporary bans to people to either post or create new topic in the Android development forum..
And for all newcomers who see this thread... pls read the sticky threads for god sake and stop wasting server storage space with your useless, repeated, often already answered questions..!

We are busy, that is correct. If you want to help us clean up the Android section, please use the Report Post link in the offending thread. All moderators see the RPs in a super special dedicated forum, so rest assured it will be addressed as soon as we see it and have time to do so.
thanks for the replies. I wasnt trying to offend anyone. I will use the report feature...I always thought that was for things such as warez, hard flaming or the sorts..
Anybody have any ideas. I am aware that devs are not supporting the original leak. But im just looking for info more than anything. Every once in a while i will hit the home button and as soon as i return to the home screen the calendar clock, and the feeds and updates widget are no longer there.
I think I know what you're talking about. If you wait a little bit they come back... think it's the launcher resetting. Did it to me a lot too, switched to super clean, haven't seen it since *knock on wood*.
This belongs in general. Read Me
But it happens to me to with beautiful widgets. Time and again. i just deal with it since this is not the final build.
I understand what your guys are saying but thats not my problem. im fully aware that if you use adobe flash, or apps that use a lot of resources that if you hit home sometimes it will refresh the home screen (happened all the time on the Original droid). My problem is the widgets disappear all together meaning they dont reappear. Ohh and this isnt a general question this question refers to an unofficial rom aka ROM DEVELOPMENT!!!
Also its not all the widgets that disappear it just the Samsung widgets (i only use calendar clock, and feeds and updates widget)
If you read that link you would see that your question should have gone in the leak thread. Or your thread should have been started in general. Why must people try to justify their mistakes?
good day. From the Fascinate sporting the XDA app.
Here are few key excerpts so you don't have to read the whole thing:
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
So remember… before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can’t answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

And same here op. It bothered me for awhile cause I really like the program monitor widget and that blue digital clock. I ended up just getting another widget from the market but touchwiz seems to make it all shaky every time I went to another screen. Wish there was a fix, but I just deal with it.

First of all, I'm married, so of course I don't. And second, I don't see how sexual frustration = desire for the development board to remain uncluttered with stuff that belongs elsewhere. Can you explain that?

Seriously? He just wanted to know why his Widgets are disappearing. If you seriously expect anyone new to this forum to read through a big list of rules, it sucks all the fun out of being an android user. He posted in the wrong section, we get it. It's now dead and done. Let's try and help with an explanation as opposed to making him feel stupid for posting in the wrong section. If it's as simple as telling them once to not post such things in here again and move the thread, why doesn't that just happen?

^I agree with you wholeheartedly, and I dont think they were trying to attack him personally, but...
it's a matter of frustration that established users have here with people completely disregarding the rules (and this is coming from someone with low post count). To my understanding the development fora are supposed to be FOR devs, not end-users. I think our role as end-users (in this development forum) is to provide support in terms of bug reporting (or whatever the dev might need) and such WITHIN specific dev threads. By not adhering to the rules, new users are unintentionally changing the dynamic of how these fora are supposed to operate.
So they're not trying to be d*cks, they're just trying to maintain the integrity of this forum.

Here is the very next post. It shows the original poster, who obviously didn't read the provided readme in the above post, attempting to justify his posting in the wrong section. This is where it became an issue, when the OP, instead of admitting his mistake and avoiding misplaced topics in the future (which would be perfectly forgivable, and not a problem) defends his uninformed postition with his own flawed logic.

Easy solution: Read the rules, and when you're corrected by someone with 10 times your post count, who provides verification, just admit you were wrong.
How about a solution to this problem,, in the sub forum section page change the expalnation of the 4 sub forums to capatilazation and place it before the actual sub forum link and change the sub forum link to un capitalized font . I think this might help force people to rerad first before clicking the link.

No one has a problem with everyone being able to post in the development forum, Just people cluttering it up with things that belong in the general forum. I will never understand how people can argue so hard for anarchy. If developers and veterans are complaining about the state of the site, then maybe you ought to get your act together or we'll just leave. Then who's going to help you with your issues? Other noobs who have won the right to post wherever the hell they want by driving off the people who actually make roms and mods and fixes. If the op wanted a topic for his specific issue, he should have posted it in general. If he wanted to post in development he should have done so in the thread for the rom he is using, not created a new thread. It's clearly stated in the rules. Why is that such a problem to some people?

not sure where to post this exactly if i am wrong please move this. i have installed jdk and sdk and trying to run android commander but it says your adb doesnt work please install sdk but i have everything installed correctly. at the bottom it says set android sdk tools in system path when i do and locate sdk tools and click it says adb.exe not found if someone could tell me what to do it would be very appreciated i am running windows vista.
wrong section this is for development and howtos only, try general next time, but ill try to help ya since the post is here anyways.
use your pc navigate to \android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
adb.exe got put here by google they moved it from the tools folder. try adding that folder to your environment variables.
Questions go in general. Actually, this doesn't even have anything to do with the Fascinate at all, so this should just go in the Android forum. Better yet, google search how to set a system path in Vista, since this is a Windows question.
As for the answer to your question, maybe you could find it here:

I'm assuming you both read into my post with a sarcastic tone, however, this was not my intention. Believe me, a lot of people are getting tired of people cluttering up the development forum with unrelated posts, but I have a lot of patience so I try to point people in the right place. It's not unheard of for people to get chewed out by some of the seasoned board members. Yet, I answered your question without insult or name calling, or quite frankly anything thing that could be considered "rude".

I enjoy helping people who break rules, then getting insulted by them. See, now I'm being sarcastic.
in all reality when you read text, read it as if it were written without a tone ie; sarcastic, funny, pissed, ect.. this way you dont feel insulted by the text. he helped you be satisfied with that. dont get upset if it seems insulting or not.

I've found out that on the internet, people will take you seriously if you are being sarcastic, and they will assume you are being sarcastic (or "rude") whenever you are being direct.
I've never really seen the point of feeling any emotion as a result of what someone says to me on a forum. I used to try to joke around with people, but I rarely do that any more since most people mis-interpret things.
I didn't even flinch when I opened up this thread. Why would I even care that they misunderstood me? The OP got his answer, and learned something. That was all that I was trying to accomplish in posting, so I'm not offended.
In real life, I rarely offend people, so when I first started talking on forums, part of me was sad every time someone got mad at me. That part of me wore off after it happened enough times. I guess you can only maintain the emotional response to the internet if you are the one who is always getting mad at others.
Instead, now I just focus on being helpful instead of worrying about making sure I word things carefully enough to not offend those who are easily offended.
the fact remains that this has nothing to do with development...in about 40 places all over xda it specifically states what NOT to put in development..which is anything that isnt put out rom/mod/kernel wise
not trying to flame the thread anymore than it has...but its things like this that drive a lot of us nuts
and as a member for longer than ive been posting, you should have been aware of this.
i am sorry for taking it the wrong way and for over reacting as well as posting in the wrong spot. in the future i will try and post in the right section or ask before i post.
