help with sdk - Fascinate General

not sure where to post this exactly if i am wrong please move this. i have installed jdk and sdk and trying to run android commander but it says your adb doesnt work please install sdk but i have everything installed correctly. at the bottom it says set android sdk tools in system path when i do and locate sdk tools and click it says adb.exe not found if someone could tell me what to do it would be very appreciated i am running windows vista.

wrong section this is for development and howtos only, try general next time, but ill try to help ya since the post is here anyways.
use your pc navigate to \android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
adb.exe got put here by google they moved it from the tools folder. try adding that folder to your environment variables.

Questions go in general. Actually, this doesn't even have anything to do with the Fascinate at all, so this should just go in the Android forum. Better yet, google search how to set a system path in Vista, since this is a Windows question.
As for the answer to your question, maybe you could find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879701

the first response answered my question the second one was not required you act like i broke the law asking a question on a forum i really don't understand why people have to be rude like they never ask a question in the wrong spot. if a rude comment is all you have keep it to yourself.

I agree john some people dont help but are smart asses

If you check the date stamps, you might see how likely it was that I was writing it at the same time as the first poster.
I'm assuming you both read into my post with a sarcastic tone, however, this was not my intention. Believe me, a lot of people are getting tired of people cluttering up the development forum with unrelated posts, but I have a lot of patience so I try to point people in the right place. It's not unheard of for people to get chewed out by some of the seasoned board members. Yet, I answered your question without insult or name calling, or quite frankly anything thing that could be considered "rude".
In your first post, you said:

I enjoy helping people who break rules, then getting insulted by them. See, now I'm being sarcastic.

in all reality when you read text, read it as if it were written without a tone ie; sarcastic, funny, pissed, ect.. this way you dont feel insulted by the text. he helped you be satisfied with that. dont get upset if it seems insulting or not.

I've found out that on the internet, people will take you seriously if you are being sarcastic, and they will assume you are being sarcastic (or "rude") whenever you are being direct.
I've never really seen the point of feeling any emotion as a result of what someone says to me on a forum. I used to try to joke around with people, but I rarely do that any more since most people mis-interpret things.
I didn't even flinch when I opened up this thread. Why would I even care that they misunderstood me? The OP got his answer, and learned something. That was all that I was trying to accomplish in posting, so I'm not offended.
In real life, I rarely offend people, so when I first started talking on forums, part of me was sad every time someone got mad at me. That part of me wore off after it happened enough times. I guess you can only maintain the emotional response to the internet if you are the one who is always getting mad at others.
Instead, now I just focus on being helpful instead of worrying about making sure I word things carefully enough to not offend those who are easily offended.

the fact remains that this has nothing to do with development...in about 40 places all over xda it specifically states what NOT to put in development..which is anything that isnt put out rom/mod/kernel wise
not trying to flame the thread anymore than it has...but its things like this that drive a lot of us nuts
and as a member for longer than ive been posting, you should have been aware of this.

i am sorry for taking it the wrong way and for over reacting as well as posting in the wrong spot. in the future i will try and post in the right section or ask before i post.

Thread moved to General.

Because this is a development thread. Where people develope programs and provide assistance on them. Its not the yellow pages. No one here works for you. We are not your secrateries. New threads like this clog up the forum and make it difficult for those of us who use search. Take some time to read the forum rules.
Here is the hint. Top of this page to the right is a "Search" button. Its just below your name. Use it to search the contents of your original subject line of this thread. If you can copy/paste the http address of your search result to prove to me you did your due dilegents, but still cant find your answer, I will help you learn how to use search properly so you don't continue to post new threads. But at this point I don't think you have used more than 2 minutes of your time searching on your own.

Wow, never before have I seen such "jerk" behavior at xda deverlopers. I know the person should have searched and I'm not discounting that fact, but there is NO reason to jump down someone's throat with that tone. Sorry, I'm a Japanese and I ever saw how much loathing and hatred went into your post. Next time, please do more courteous behavior... if not, I hate to think of how people will treat you.

The reason people tell you to search is because this site, like any other activity has rules. One of them is to READ and SEARCH to find the answers yourself before you post a question that has been answered in numerous other locations. While some people may be overly aggressive in their suggestion that you use the search function, it does not make their point any less valid. There are a lot of people on this site, and all of them are volunteers. Nobody gets paid to be here. When you decide that you're gonna clutter the forum with threads and posts that have already been answered very thoroughly in easily searchable locations then it just makes it more difficult for people who actually do know how to use the site properly to find anything. So in the future, if you have an interesting idea (which you did) then do some looking to see if maybe somebody else had that same idea and post your thoughts there. That way everyone who is interested in that idea can go to one place to follow any development that happens there. Otherwise you are basically saying to all the people who put a lot of time in here, that you think your time is more valuable than their's. Which puts us in this perpetual cycle of people who don't know anything complaining because the people who do know the answers want them to learn how to find the answers rather than just giving them the answer.

Search the entire forum. In fact google the interenet for the question I posted in that thread. It is no where to be found. And it was a development idea posted in a development thread after all that searching had been done. Your not comparing apples to apples. In fact there is no comparable comparison.

I was less of a dip**** and it continued to happen. At least this is getting some attention that may make a noticable difference of noob's continuing down the same old path of ask questions first, search as a last result.
It would be great if the Moderators would put a sticky at the bottom of the sticky posts for this forum titled "How to Use Search before you post a New Thread" since noob's aren't even taking the time to read the forum rules. While their at it make the title of the sticky thread alway stay BOLD even if no new posts are made in it.

I don't owe anyone an apology.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=438
Read the FIRST item in post 2.
Telling him to leave isn't respecting him...
1. Search before posting
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
2. Be polite and respect your fellow xda-dev user.
There is no need for cursing, flaming, racism or personal attacks. There are a lot of different nationalities on this forum all with different cultures, this means that no matter what you're like, you'll have to adjust to people that are most definitely not like you. It will gain you a lot of respect if you help to keep the peace. It's disrespectful and therefore not permitted to create Alias Member names in an attempt to deceive others.
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.
4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English use an online translator, You're free to include your original message in your own language below the English translation.
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.
7. Do not spam.
If you wish to advertise a product, contact us we provide ads. But do not post it in the forums, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
You are however allowed to sell used goods like your own device, parts of your device or accessories for your device in the marketplace forum, please read the rules there before posting. (This rule includes signatures, if you use a signature it will appear in your post)
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.
9. Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users, and those that write great code.
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably already quite a few people newer than you that would benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.

It's more along the lines of where it says I have to apologize.
Honestly - this post is better off locked or removed, as it is clearly off topic and is leading to flaming and unnecessary disputes.
Yay, another thread that has nothing to do with the OP.
I'm not flaming. I was at first curious to why you felt the need to be rude to him when he asked you a question when instead, you could have directed the way for him and it would have been solved.
You guide me to read the rules and yet, it seems like you yourself have not quite understood them.
Now I don't mean any disrespect in any shape or form. I'm just trying to get the noobs back by getting you/everyone to be a little bit more nice around here.
There is no need for the comment, you should leave the forums now.
What gives you the right to tell me to read the rules when you yourself don't follow them? It doesn't make any sense.
Coming from mmus.us, I am disappointed to come to this. Expecting the help and kindness I received from there was obviously a mistake.
To all members who are reading, I am sorry for any offense taken from this, but the disrespect given within these forums is out of hand at times and I feel the need to speak up...

It depends on which direction you want to take mostly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=448
this is where all G1/DREAM ROMs reside and it's up to you to choose which one.
There are also guides that will teach you how to root, unroot, etc...
I personally chose CyanogenMOD for the simple fact that it was really easy to get everything setup and done.
If CyanogenMod is the road you want to take, then go here
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Main_Page
This wiki will guide you through the ENTIRE process and them some.
The odds of you messing anything up are really slim with this road.
Hope this helps you after all the wait...

Don't take me personally, but I've seen a lot of people that come here, register, post their main question that has been answered a million times, and then just leave.
If they actually put the effort into searching for the solution, as opposed to having someone hold their finger, the "person" will learn a lot more.
My "harshness" was brought about my Mr. 1 post - figuring that he's just like the rest. If I'm wrong, and he turns out to be the next moderator, fine...
But chances are - he won't.
You have every right to speak up, after all it's on online forum. There is no one stopping you, or impeding on your right to speak - so long as it follows the rules.
Now, in response to your post of "assistance" - there have been issues with DRD20 being rooted. Again, from searching, you'll see that the SG versions are having some difficulty being rooted from stock 1.6
It seems as if the "Gold Card" method has to be used to solve the DRD20 issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498142&highlight=drd20&page=2
Well thank you and this is all understandable. I see your point and agree. But with the experience I have from mmus, my way of thinking has changed.
I try to help even if it is a 1 post member because if I show the effort to help, it makes me look better and I might even learn something new in the process as well.

I see your point and it is one that has been made many times over on this forum. I know. At one point in time, I also had a hard time finding the search button on the top bar of almost every forum I went to. I also, didn't like to do an "endless" scrolldown of the topics. newbie alert!!!

Sorry if this is a stupid question guys, but I've just bought a HD2 with the energy rom already on it, what is this and why is it better than the standard rom?
Hi,
You have 100% right - it is stupid question.
ROM - It's another name for operating system with drivers and settings, its a compilation.
Why You use Win XP on Your desktop instead of Windows 3.11 ?
! Because it's better, it's faster, more intuitive, more stable, it's.....
Each ROM is developed for some reason - somebody fix something or change few things.
In my case HTC gives a sh_ _ on me with ROM updates for my region / country - Only thing to do was to flash unofficial ROM.
Read, then ask question.
wow, thats the way to make a neebie welcome. I know you guys want people to read and search more before posting but come on... Im glad not everone is like that.
I also have a couple of newbie questions but ill post in about 6 months after ive read every single post on the site to make sure no one hs asked the question before.
RReckless
Don't make a evil daemon from me , I start with joke , then gently tell what is what and why with ROM, and on the end give a good advice to search and read before asking.
know it all geeks
dont worry bout him mate u always get some gimp know it all like him on here theres lots of helpful people on here 2
perhaps I should've worded it better, I've haven't had a standard hd2 as it was like this when I bought it, but I meant what is different on the energy rom to standard? also is there asetting to lock the keypad when I press the bottom left phone button? mine just turns the screen off but all you have to do is repress it and your back on, I've already called someone in my pocket

The reason regulars are like that is it wastes everyone's time when you ask the same questions over and over.
It wastes the noob's time typing the message when a simple search up the top can answer it in a few clicks.
It wastes the noob's and the regular's time by making them sift through pages of redundant threads rather than having new original issues - if a noob has an original issue, it may take ages for someone to find it to answer, thats if they manage to find it at all.
A lot of noobs tend to ask the redundant question without searching, then when the thread moves through several pages, they bump it with a "no one going to help!?!" reply. This would move it above an issue that may well have a higher importance, yet it would have been quicker for them to search than to trawl through and find their thread to reply to.
If noobs did more searching, we wouldn't have to keep explaining the reasons why we ask noobs to search every time they don't.

Having said the above, let's pretend a newbie have joined the forum today and have asked a question that may have been asked and solved already or better yet asked something that a no brainer can do.
Does that make it annoying for "regulars" already? Your explanation sounds more like you are saying that "regulars" are obligated to answer questions from a noob, yet it is not.
and you said ---> "then when the thread moves through several pages, they bump it with a "no one going to help!?!" reply." <---- and these kind of things affect the so called "regulars"? Does it hurt??? that you need to harass a newbie?
My reaction would be, so what if it moved several times??? I've seen a lot of a very old post that is being answered to this date.

Theres no need for your reaction here.
Just ask yourself this... why is there a sticky thread right at the top of this forum that tells people how to use search?

That sticky serves as guide to a do a search, because not all users know how to use search.
My point is, you and the rest of the so called "regulars" act like they have the right to harass or treat newbies like they did have no education at all.
It doesn't mean you see "newbie or junior member" then they should be treated this way.
There's another way of saying things like "Hey man, try searching the forum by using this" instead of "make sure you DO its extremely annoying for the regulars on this site to keep seeing the same noob questions asked over and over again."

The way people come across on internet forums is not necessarily how they would come across in a real life conversation. For example... my reading of your posts in this thread gives me the image of you jumping up and down ranting like a madman. Kind of like Animal out of the muppets...
Thats not really you is it?

im not insulting you intentionally... just telling you how you come across to me... but you have taken it as an insult :-(
Just to re-iterate... my original post here (ie/ telling the noobs to use search) was not intended as any kind of harassment... just a solid nudge in the direction of the search function.
I mean theres a moderater sticky saying the exact same thing i am saying!
Granted his words might seem friendlier then mine but look at the post i was replying to. Theres an example of someone using sarcasm to try and make the point that it takes too much time to search.
The reason it takes a long time to search is because noobs DONT search and post the same questions over and over. Its an endless circle of death.

Can we stop bashing new people in here please

I am starting to see when a new person who has no idea of how things work asks a question and gets bashed. Iam wondering do any of the xda-developer vets want xda-developers to grow or die out? New people once they learn how things work , might later start developing new and exciting products. Can we please show them some respect. Thank you for reading!

Somebody needs a nap ....
But on a serious note I guess we should just stop having rules altogether ....
If bashing people is what you call expecting people even newbs to follow the rules then I guess bashing it is ...
Not totally disagreeing with you, but partially , yes sometimes vets are harsh with newbs, but if 500 people walked up to you and asked you the same question over and over how long would it take for you to get tired of it ....
ok then i just have my rule
Well I dont want to continue because it seems the majority of vets are annoyed at new users. So now I will have this rule from now on to make things simple. Any time I see this behavoir towards newbies , I will post a link to www.ppcgeeks.com . So since newbies are a problem to the vets here, I will redirect them to different website. That should handle all the problems.

XDA will grow no matter what but if you think that XDA is more interested in the number of users it has, you are sadly mistaken.
It's very easy to pop in here and create ANOTHER useless thread asking everyone to be nice to the newbies.
All the senior members here were all newbies once. All the chefs and developers were newbies too. They didn't get to be where they are by starting up useless HELP ME threads because they were too lazy to get off their behinds and help themselves.
I've been here since 2006 and my post count very recently crossed 500. I've hung out at XDA almost every single day since the day I officially joined and about another year before that without being a member. I've learnt A LOT over here and given everything that I've learnt, if I were to have posted a HELP ME thread everytime I wanted something, I would have probably raked in about 10k posts by now. Think about how many threads and posts we would have from heavily contributing members if they were to take the HELP ME route.
I've been around here so long and know enough people here that no one would have an issue with me opening a thread for any query that I have, yet I don't... why? because XDA is a repository. Every question that anyone can think of has already been asked and has already been discussed.
I can understand how overwhelming everything can be for a newbie, but that still doesn't excuse the HELP ME threads. SEARCH, Look around, do your due diligence and you will find what you need. Nothing comes easy. You have to work for it. Google Search makes things exceptionally easy. Use it and stop crapping this place up.
Honestly, IMO, the mods here are really nice. Too nice infact. People here get away with just about anything. If you guys think people here are tough then you haven't seen how strict things are around the internet. I swear to god, if I was a mod here, the trash can would be overflowing.
Please... stop these incessant rants.
@zarpy.. PPCGeeks is miniscule compared to XDA. Trust me, the mods and the members over there take care of their forum more aggressively than XDA. It's only a matter of time before they start booting LAZY newbies.
Yeah I agree with this, I find it funny like people were born with the knowledge and talk to people who are clueless like they were never in there shoes before. I myself just got a HD2 not to long ago never really used a phone of the sort with apps and etc. I am however tech smart with PCs and like to learn on my own as it benefits you in the long run so I've picked up the basics just by doing. But not everyone is tech smart especially with phones as a lot of it I do not have a clue what it means even though I am tech smart, but I'm learning what does what slowly and how to install different types of apps, games, and themes
If some of you veterans with these phones disagree with this, your simply a liar and should go play in a fire

I can see both sides of this point... Yes the search feature is important, and relitivley easy. Most of the bashing is because people dont use it.
But have you all ever stopped to think about this lil situation?
You are looking for an app, but have no clue what it is called???
Or you are from another country, and have difficulty writing English, even though you can speak it clearly enough.
Then there are the noobs that have no clue (like my self) and come looking for help or ask a question to learn.
Many crash in flames because the people who know the answers, only shoot em down. Even after using the search feature. (yes I have seen this situation here as well)
The easy solution is to just not post a flaming bash to the question, or better yet, just dont post anything at all. Someone that does know and has compassion will answer at some point. Or the person asking will do a search or search again or at some point.
It takes more effort to post a bash than it does to point them in the rite direction and teach the noobs.
The old saying "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all" REALLY fits here.
Question for all of you to ask your self... When you signed up here, did you READ ALL of the rules before you posted? I'm willing to bet a very small percentage did infact, READ ALL of the rules. So many (not all) of you really have no room to point fingers.
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS ROFL AT THE OP!!!

And the example you posted of getting bashed....i just reported the entire thread for closure as it is a complete waste of time...much like this one!!

Ok the reason you would get bashed is if your asking easily findable questions.
Someone ask a dumb question i think they should get bashed, before i answer ANY questions i google search for an answer, if i find one on the first page, the the person asking the question will get no answer and flamed/bashed.

Yes
and initially i asked stupid questions and i got flames and bashed, but i wasnt a ***** and i didnt cry about it ans start threads asking people to stop bashing me.
i learnt that if i was getting bashed there was a reason and i accepted that, where as now we hae the folowing:
1: Guy ask Stupid Question
2: Vets Bash
3: Guy crys
4: Guy opens more threads asking about "why am i getting bashed"
5: vets see the thread and get more P*ssed dish out mroe bashing
6: Guy crys more
7: Guy posts the eg of why he gets bashed in the new "why am i getting bashed" thread
8: Vets come along and thing WTF is this guys problem is he stupid?
here is the ULTIMATE easy solution
Search using xda search, search using google search, when posting your question past in the URL for the results of your search so people can see how you searched/what terms you used
then i Guarantee there will be no flames, and probably a few suggestion on changing search terms etc
Read and Search is the key to not posting usless threads

Iam a vet here , I opened this thread because Iam tired of this attitude thats starting to take place.
You remembered when you used to get bashed and thrashed , so you think its right. How dumb are you , so if your dad beat you everyday, does that mean you beat your son? I hope not!!! You suppose to learn , but you stayed aan idiot all this time. 8 years and you learn nothing hahahahaha your the true definition of moron. Iam not mad, I think your a joke hahahahaha.
I just hope you guys don't expect your doctors, lawyers, police officers and everyone else of importance in life to answer your questions...that have been asked and asked over and over again. The answers to your heart problems are on the internet. A little Bing search will find them. You don't need to bother your doctor with clarification questions.
Please stop harrassing your lawyers. They answer the exact same questions you ask time and again. They must be so sick of answering those questions over and over again. All of the answers you can think of are clearly posted online. Do a search of Google or Bing and stop asking your important people questions.
hmmm.... i feel that as newbie

Not your typical rant.......

First off let me say that this is not against Sprint or Samsung (shocker). I know my way around a computer but am no way a developer. Before I ever loaded a rom I read and did my research it took me betweem 24 to 48 hours before I felt confident enough to root and flash and if I had any questions I searched the forums for a solution. Its not hard. Now here comes the complaint. I know they say there are no stupid questions but damn, I see the same question over and over again when there are easily found answers right in front of your face. Don't be lazy and read, no one one here gets paid to answer your questions that have already been answered. I'm not saying there aren't legitimate questions because there are plenty of them and that's not what is bothering me at all. I guess what I'm trying to get at is do the effing research take your time and you will figure it out, and stop asking what is the best rom it is the most worthless question on here because no one can give you the right answer. One more thing if you do run into a problem try and figure it out before running to the computer and then maybe you could actually contribute. That's all sorry for such a long post.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Couldn't agree more. I've been a longtime member with a very low post count. Unless you're the first or second person to download a rom and notice a secific bug to report, the community is large enough that very rarely do you need to post as someone else already has.
Not to mention its a self perpetuating problem. If less people were posting the same thing 10 times, there would only be 1/10th the amount of posts to read through to find your answer to begin with.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
A lot of people say that, and yeah, people need to do some research first or something...but for some people..they really aren't being lazy or anything, they just really dont know that thats what they are supposed to do.
Let me put it like this..I saw this on my facebook yesterday. Someone I know was asking how somebody got their phone to look they way it did (the guy took a screenshot of his Vibrant with a Gingerbread theme). The guy told him to either ask me or to come to xda. Now, the guy who asked had a Hero and doesnt know what rooting is...he probably doesnt even know how a forum (or really, how this forum) works. So when he gets here, the first thing he'll do is register and make a thread asking that question. Since he'd be a new user, he wouldn't know how many times the question has been asked, hell, he wouldnt even really know where to look. It'd be his only question and to him, he thinks that he'll be able to get the answer and leave and its done.
Now, thats the only time I say we should tolerate such behavior. but for users that have been on here a while and have been posting and contributing, there's no excuse.
Typical rant.
You opened a new thread, clogging the front page just like those you hate.
The words you speak will never truly reach those who don't read before posting... by definition.
Waste of time and space, get over yourself.
Why does this bother people so much. Ignore the threads/questions if you have an issue with them. Some people aren't aware of the resources. Being a prick about it doesn't help. These same rants have been done over and over and over...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
What a SHOCKER! Another typical "non-typical" rant.
But, you know, you're right. No one should be allowed to post until they've read all 3000+ posts in this forum. No one is allowed to ask other's opinions on the best ROM. No one is allowed to think differently than you.
Wanna know why the HTC side is so good? It's not because HTC releases source code (You should have seen the community in the early days before anyone released code). It's because the users are helpful. They contribute. They don't rant.
You, and users like you, are the reason the community is falling apart. Get in there and answer some questions. Contribute. Post to the useful threads so they stay close to the top. Add to the Wiki. Don't sit around and complain. These forums are for everyone, not just you.
You have only 12 posts, and the only thing you can contribute is "restart your phone" or "use a different USB cable?"
Here's my plea for the mods to lock this thread before we spiral out of control. What do you mean, it's too late?

Or, you could post a like to the wiki, pointing the noobs in the right direction. Answer the question and the thread falls to the bottom, and useful stuff with high post counts rise to the top.
Here's an example:
"Hey man, totally get where you're coming from. Rooting seems tricky, but it's not. Here's the guides in the wiki. It's got most of your questions answered. The search is useful if you can't find it there. Glad to have you on XDA.
But I guess it's much more useful to post inane responses on useless threads. Crap floats.

I don't buy that at all. If you've been on the internet more than 10 minutes, searching should always be your first instinct.
flat out, most people just dont even know what to search for, keywords will get you the right information, but also knowing the key words is what is troubling the new people.
I'm also one of those old members with years of lurking experience, because i know to search. But, at the same time, i don't tell people to do it. He'll i barley give advice... Mainly because i just come here, give rep, and get what info I need and then leave.
Let the forums grow i say... the more questions are asked, the easier they can be answered later, because of the keywords aspect. If someone doesnt know the keywords, they will ask a question with wrong ones, and then get corrected. and later down the line, someone searching with the same wrong keywords can find the answer... At least i hope it works out like that, i would like to think it does to some degree...
Anyways... my 2c
The only problem I have with searching is this: my laptop crashed a while back so I haver to search with the phone and xda app. The xda app search sucks. It brings up irrelevant posts. So since i can't use the search feature, unless I go to the site through the web browser, I just read the wiki and search post by post lol. I am for the side that says, if you don't like the post don't read it. Be helpful, not insane. Some attitudes on here are equivalent to some one coming up to you on a street, new to the town, and asking where mcdonalds is, and some of your responses would be: Look up in the sky for the big f?%#ing golden arches before I shot you in the head with my glock. That is a little over board. I say search, but if the didn't don't get mad.

Man, more people are familiar with school than the internet...and in school you usually ask the teachers questions before you whip out your book to find the answer. Most people also try to act like themselves online like they do in real life...and since in a real life situation there more likely to ask a question than search for the answer...so first instinct would probably be asking that question, that is, if you arent used to forums (specifically this one).
Very serious business.

Failing to search occurs in ANY forum out there. The difference with the Epic scene is we have more self-proclaimed moderators than any board I am a member of. There are simply too many people trigger happy to call out a “noob” who may or may not know what it is that they are looking for.
It’s a shame that we are so quick to assume that someone is lazy.
I am here several times a day. More often than not, you will see folks spending more time correcting other’s forum posting etiquette than actually helping or contributing. In the other forums I frequent (mostly cars), the members actually help one another and asking questions, regardless of them previously posted, is no problem at all.
Go figure, the forums where mistakes cost A LOT more money in damages is stress-free compared to one that can almost always be fixed with a good old odin.
I definitly feel like an ass for posting this in the first place. I guess I should have been more specific when I posted. I apologize to anyone I offended. I have no problem helping anyone that needs help it just aggravates me when people ask a question one a thread that was answered on the previous page. But whatever I honestly don't give two squirts what people think about me.

I think you were saying what you felt and there is no harm in that. You were not out of line in the way you said it. It was simply something you felt like expressing.
I don’t believe your last sentence though. It contradicts your first sentence.
No it's true I just regret not being more specific about what I was saying. Anyway life is full of contradictions
