911 screen - Epic 4G General

Just a heads up, if you ever dial 911, the phone has a special screen that comes up after you hang up. It makes it easy to call 911 again if you need to. You have to press and hold a button to get back to normal phone mode. That might be great but the absolute last thing I expected to be doing at the scene of an accident was learning new things about how to use my phone.
(Oh, I'm running Syndicate ROM which I'm very happy with. . . The battery doesn't die when the screen is off? How did he do that?!?)

Yea I experienced this first hand lmao my stove caught on fire had to call 911. Lmao I was impressed with my phone during a fire in my house lol

With my luck, I'd have to call them two or three times to get the screeen shot program to work.
k0nane, maybe the screen layout is in the source code? In case you needed more dev work to do.

I have 5 children at home, the youngest being 16 months. My next to youngest (2 and a half) got ahold of my wife's phone yesterday while she was using the restroom briefly and he managed to send me 2 text mesages. they were random but nevertheless he still managed to 'type' and send 2 messaged.. I would almost guarantee that he could 'accidentally' dial 911 as well.. (now, I'd have a hard time explaining that he has to shake the phone for shootme to get the screen shot) LMFAO.
just sayin'
EDIT: .. my previous response was fecetious though.. mostly to add a bit of humor.. I never thought that someone would consider doing this though.. and you'd have to agree that doing it that way very well would be the least risk of getting into trouble LOL

Actually I don't see the big deal. I don't think a puppy dies everytime you call 911. I may be able to do it later today. One other thing, you can always call ahead on a non emergency number and let them know you are testing an alarm or something. People with security systems that have panic buttons should test them yearly anyway.

You could always call the police station and tell them that u heard that ur phone won't dial 911 like the moment. And u wanted to do a test call. And was wondering how to to go about that. Just don't hang up. They will call back. :-D

That's the one DexterDawg! And, of course, that day the phone was doing that thing where it doesn't quite read my finger so the press and hold just wasn't working.

Hmm, kid? Most certainly not. It was *light-hearted* fun, the same I'd poke at myself if I'd done the same thing. Relax people, it was an attempt to tone down some of the rather "vibrant" rhetoric that has been flaring up of late. That is all.

So I just thought of something. I'm always flashing no matter where I'm at...church,school,mall,toilet..etc..
And I just was at the hospital...for burning my eyes with UV light (long story) and couldn't open my eyes for 3 hours..but as soon as I could I found myself flashing the latest cm7 nightly in the er... now that's dedication .. just thought it was kinda humorous and was curious where others had found themselves flashing in strange places..?

I'm stealing this. Awesome. Just awesome.
As far as the op is concerned, mine isn't so much a "where" as a win. On multiple occasions, my wife and I have been making out as a precursor to playing a little hide the bishop, and she has run to the bathroom for one reason or another. So I took the opportunity to begin wiping and flashing....and then finished the process after we, uh, finished the, uh, process
Needless to say, I have been punched for this a few times.
Edit: I was going to fix my misswype above by replacing "win" with "when," but then I thought "Meh. Just as good this way."
I do it when I'm driving
then again I do everything while driving, even swyping this

Gotta wipe from front to back too. Don't want to get an infection.
On topic: Usually at work (parts dept. at Honda dealer). I fashioned a nice little stand out of two pieces of radiator hose so my phone sits and about a 15 degree angle in portrait. Chrome to phone and dropbox make it so I don't have to bring my usb cable to work!

My Indestructible EVO!

Ok, you probably won't believe me when I tell you this... Because I am not so sure I would believe it myself... but here goes.
I have a scooter whose digital dash is not displaying the correct speed.
My solution???
Velcro my EVO to the dash and run SpeedView and use that as my speedometer.
Everything has worked fine since I started doing this last summer. But recently the back of my EVO has become loser fitting.
So today; while traveling about 50 miles per hour; I hit a bump and my EVO sails off the dash (leaving the back still velcro'd on the bike) and hits the road. The battery flies off and the phone comes to rest *laying on it's face*.
Gasp.....
I get off the bike and run out in the road to pick up the phone and battery before someone runs over them. Then I put the battery back in the phone and the phone's back cover on.
Surprise!!! The phone works flawlessly and has no scratches on the screen or case damage. Which amazes me because what scratches I do have come from the phone being in my pocket.
And that's not all!!!
This is the *second* time this has happened in the past month.
Guess I need to buy a solid case to hold it in place.
But who would have thought the EVO was so durable????
Where's John Cameron Swayze when we need him?

I'm just wondering why anyone else hasn't suggested that you simply fix your speedometer which prolly's gonna cost less than a replacement EVO.
You're leading a charmed life, but as others have said, it won't last forever. You'll probably drop it on to carpet from 18 inches and shatter the screen.

Sure, I can accidentally throw my phone across a bar downtown while imitating some Guido and the screen will be perfect when I go retrieve it, but drop an EVO six inches onto your pillow... you're looking at a $100 dedcutible mon frer.

I do, but the app wasn't installed, so it doesn't work :'(
And I tried to install plan b, I read lifehackers post on it awhile ago, but these people were expert thieves, they changed the service to another phone, and tried to make a purchase with it almost immediatly. Luckily, the charge was canceled and I ended service for the phone, then they sent me the new phone I'm currently using.
I would have loved it to work, but alas, sad. My only concern now is if there is a way to deauthorize that phone from my google account. Other than that, as soon as I get around to rooting this thing, I'll be fine.
Ouch!! That looks painful.. Poor shift!

I broke my screen digitizer a few weeks ago. Luckily I was able to buy one off ebay and replace it myself. The only thing that I did wrong was I didn't really reglue it down to the frame, so dust and dirt has been getting underneath the screen (which you can see behind bright backgrounds). BTW, if anyone breaks theirs, here's a great video on how to take apart the whole phone.

Hey Vicodan - not satisfied with the standard benchmark tests you've been subjecting the phone to! Let the physical testing of the phone begin!!! - what's next - maybe leaving it next to the stove - hey - just kidding man- luckily you're ok- can really get messed up in a fall
