2) After moving all apps to sd, widgetlocker and system info widget was removed from the places i added them, plus when i restart my phone widgetlocker doesnt autostart. [This one fixed already, i moved it back and voila]
Suggestions?

Settings > applications > manage applications > all > Sony Ericsson Home > clear data.
You should now be able to set up your home screen from scratch.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!

Have any more of your apps complained at being moved to SD? I do use a ton of apps and would like to move some of the less critical ones to SD so I'm not bulging at the seems anymore!
Also, anyone used any of the market apps like app2sd for this task, how did you get on?
Cheers.

I used titanum backup to force move them all apps to sd.
I had issues only with widgetlocker, sms unread count and system info widget.

Thanks for reply.
Have you noticed increased battery drain or reduction in speed with all of that SD card read/write activity since moving them?

No, since i moved all my apps to sd, it wasnt a big deal for these 3 apps to consume battery. The speed is just fine for my class 6 16GB micro SDHC card.
The battery life is obviously better after moving all of them on my card. Im on 4mAh right now, i guess its fine

app icons changed to default android app icon

sup guys,
I'm having an odd issue.
I'm using the HD2One build and love it. I have Launcher Pro with 3 screens with app shortcuts and widgets and one folder for the games.
Well, the last 3 apps i put in this folder had their icon changed to the default android app icon. it happened with 0.3.4 and it just did it with 0.3.5. note that the shortcut is working properly and i can run the app without problem
any ideas about what's going on?
edit: updating LauncherPro fixed it so I guess LP is at fault?

Just had exactly the same thing happen on my Sensation but just removing the app from the desktop and then adding it back fixed it
Found this thread with a search for the same problem (not specific to device so rather than start a new thread I have added here)... couldn't find a proper fix for it though!
I have two folders with several apps in them. I do not want to have to remove and then replace each app that has had its icon replaced with the generic android icon - that would be an utter ball ache!
Does this issue arise due to apps being on the SD card? (I use Apps2SD). Is there some sort of icon memory cache that gets wiped every now and then for icons in folders? Could it be program updates?
This is perhaps only a small thing but it makes my carefully constructed specific folders look rubbish, and should be easy to fix with some sort of "refresh" command maybe?
My Sensation XE is unrooted and it is only the icons in folders that suffer this problem.
I have the same problem as above also on Sensation. It only happens when I move an app to the SD card and put it in a folder. Does Anyone have any solutions?

Is anyone else's phone full?

App2SD shows I have only 43MB free out of 500MB storage on the EVO 4G, and I've moved all possible apps to the SD card.
The thing is the apps listed in 'phone only' ar enot taking up that much storage, so it must be the OS/data. Is there any way to clear that, or should I finally install a custom ROM?
I have about 75 or so apps installed and still have 240MB free. MIUI itself is about 100MB smaller than Sense ROMs so that helps, plus apps2sd.
lol they didnt expect people to have ten billion apps installed.
Nope...I don't keep apps on my phone that I don't use on a daily basis.
Try this....
If you use Dark Tremors A2SD solution here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715116 it will solve your storage dilemma. Just make sure you get a class 6 memory card.
Ha, I filled up my phone within a couple days of when I got it. Went on a bit of an apps install bender.
cl6 16gb, 1gb ext/a2sd partition, this is what titanium backup tells me

Yep same, I was full after a few days as well. I hate apps that cant go on sd.
Freed up a LOT of space by switching to AOSP... Considering how EVERY HTC and Sprint bloatware app was stuck on the internal memory, getting rid of those freed up a lot of space for me.
lol... i hate all the people that downrate apps because they dont go to sd card. Especially all the apps that cant go to the card.. (like flash) because they are a plug in.

you must have literally tons of apps on your phone then.

[Q] Easy method to populate screens?

Hi,
I am looking for a method to easily populate my screens.
Right now, I have to do this one after another from the all apps page.
I know, some launchers or app organizer allow to select a group by ticking in the apps list.
But I am actually quite happy with the stock jellybean home, if it wasn't the tedious one-by-one approach of populating.
So, who knows of a better method or app to populate the screens?
I just fill the screens up manually. Some of the apps I use have pretty big widgets after you maximize them. Hell, Flipboard's widget can be made to take up an entire page.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImZsaXBib2FyZC5hcHAiXQ..
Hmm, not sure I was clear enough.
Say, I have 30 games and 5 travel related apps - I would like to have them separated on easy accessible screens/popups/whatever.
Just boring to do this manually with lots of apps.
Most launchers can group, but present the apps in list format, just not compact for many apps..

I really don't understand what you mean, you can drag apps over one another and make folders?
You can drag your apps to your screen to make them icons on your homepage.
From what you've said, this is my understanding.

Sure you can do it like this. This means changing screens twice for every single app.
If not already existing, that's the idea for an app:
a) select apps from all apps screen
b) choose label or leave empty
c) beam them to the home (how to do it for other) screen in a named folder or "loose".
Done.
Things could be that easy.

Tip for JB stock ROM users.

I am far from being an Android power user. I don't use mods, skins or launchers and prefer to stick to stock ROMs.
The farthest I go is to root my device, given the fact that some apps I need either work better with it or won't work at all without it.
So you have an idea, just the other day I posted I couldn't figure what "Greenify" was good for since, as I understood it, If we have to enter the app to hibernate/de-hibernate the target apps we might as well just launch and kill them, as needed, only to be kindly enlightened by another user about the fact of life that some apps do still run in the background, even after we've killed them.
...Pretty "tech challanged", right?
...but, coming from this "restricted" background, I do have a tip to share with you guys after having tried some online suggestions to deal with the relative "sluggishseness" and low Quadrant benchmarks I was faced with, after having migrated to JB XSP.
Apps took up to 3 seconds to launch and I was having this kind of values in Quadrant:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I tried a bunch of stuff to improve things up. I removed a series of apps I rarely used, even some system ones, using SystemApp Remover and inhibited others like MacroDroid. Still, no improvements.
Until...
Today, acting on tip read online, I went to "Settings" ---> "Developer Options" ---> (Activate) ---> "Drawing" and changed "Window animation Scale", "Transition Animation Scale" and "Animation Duration Scale" from the default values to 0.5x.
I got definite improvement in launch response, general "sluggishseness" with Quadrant values jumping to this:
Happy Puppy now
Hope this helps!
XK
I tried your suggestion and here are my results
Before change
4488
After change
3446
Restored to original settings
4146
Sorry for lack of images but I am unable to attach them.
In my case those settings did not improved the performance it actually decreased it. This might be on a case by case scenario but a good tip nonetheless

Note the huge jump in the I/O score. Seems out of character with the other devices.

Unwanted popup

My phone is stock, no changes other than a few apps have been disabled.
I am getting an unwanted popup after I receive a call. It wants me to install Instagram, or another program. I have scanned with Malwarebytes but it finds no viruses.
Any help in getting rid of this appreciated. Please see the attachment.
Thanks.

Do you have ES File Explorer (think I see it in the background)? Try uninstalling that app and see if the ads persist. ES File Explorer may be presenting adverts and popups.
Thanks, but that did not work. Onto the next guess!
are you using a custom launcher? some of them provide ads on your ohone.. also try removing any apps that are known for showing popups
Chinese apps tend to have overlays like that, especially those cleaning/boosting apps. Get rid of those and see.
When it pops up, do you see anything more in the expanded notification bar? If yes, then press and hold on it and tap on "app info/detail". From there you can see which app is displaying these pop ups and disable notifications.
Thanks, Using ADW. Removed and still there.
Don't have any of those, but good guess.
No way to expand the notification nor any way to get more information. Talked to Motorola support and they had me clean the cache and that did nothing either.
Last case resort, start uninstalling apps one by one with the newest one first. When the pop ups stop, you've found the problem.

Prior to using the last resort method provided by riggerman, you can view how much data/wifi each app is using that is currently installed on your device. This can be done by navigating to network info in your settings. Then simply compare that data to which app is eating up your memory at the time of the pop up. A more in depth method would to use an app that is designed to gather in depth data on installed apps specifically for the user, such an app would be Android Addon Detector available in the Play Store (link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.denper.addonsdetector). I wont write up the way to do it cause I don't have that kind of time at the moment, and it'll do you good to teach yourself given the internet and the app FAQ and developers site because knowledge is power, and knowledge also helps to quickly deal with little piece of bull**** that land on your path in life, such as annoying popups
Removed 2 backup apps and seems to have gone away, thanks.
Had the same popup problem. I said STOP in response it has gone away.
