Hi,
I am looking for a method to easily populate my screens.
Right now, I have to do this one after another from the all apps page.
I know, some launchers or app organizer allow to select a group by ticking in the apps list.
But I am actually quite happy with the stock jellybean home, if it wasn't the tedious one-by-one approach of populating.
So, who knows of a better method or app to populate the screens?
I just fill the screens up manually. Some of the apps I use have pretty big widgets after you maximize them. Hell, Flipboard's widget can be made to take up an entire page.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImZsaXBib2FyZC5hcHAiXQ..
Hmm, not sure I was clear enough.
Say, I have 30 games and 5 travel related apps - I would like to have them separated on easy accessible screens/popups/whatever.
Just boring to do this manually with lots of apps.
Most launchers can group, but present the apps in list format, just not compact for many apps..

I really don't understand what you mean, you can drag apps over one another and make folders?
You can drag your apps to your screen to make them icons on your homepage.
From what you've said, this is my understanding.

Sure you can do it like this. This means changing screens twice for every single app.
If not already existing, that's the idea for an app:
a) select apps from all apps screen
b) choose label or leave empty
c) beam them to the home (how to do it for other) screen in a named folder or "loose".
Done.
Things could be that easy.

I would like to launch some applications via the startup menu, and some of them simply need to be running in the background to function properly.
Is there a tag on the shortcut like -minimize that will work for all applications or does the specific application need to support it?
Thank you so much
Try Quickmenu....its nice start menu/task manager it has option to exclude programs from closing when u click on X
you could create a simple mortscript that calls the today screen (maybe with a delay) and make sure the shortcut to it is the last one in startup.
Yep, you can use MortScript to do what you need. I think it's the only way because I needed to do it also. I don't use the script anymore so I deleted it, but if you search the MortScript manual for 'minimize' you should find what you need.
I think its dependant upon the app.. but i have used -s successfully before.. you may also want to try to search MSDN
Give a try to the one attached here........

I assume you want to run an app from \Startup. Your question is a little confusing. Anyway, it will be app dependent as far as the functionality using command lines in a .lnk. I do not know of a general command that would work for this as the point of shortcuts is to open the app. If the app is not intended to run in the background on its own, it will open like normal.
What are you trying to do exaclty? Perhaps that would help answer your question a bit more.
Is there a way to force a shortcut to minimize an application when launched?
i need this too.. for UL links..
Is there an app or something where I can change the order of my applications on my Desire? At the moment they are sorted alphabetically but I wish to sort them in the order I want.
Is this possible?
Also, is it possible I can change the applications screen so there are pages where I can slide left to right instead of just one page where I slide up and down?
Thanks.
I would love a launcher with the "drawers" from iOS4, so you could have games in one, settings and tools in one, and media apps in another..

Btw, i don't care much for iOS, so don't flame me for posting a screen from it.

There's a home app called iHome. Pretty much an iPhone rip, but has some pretty good screen anims.
Or, get an iPhone 4?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
this not a launcher but "apps organizer" does exactly what that screenie shows
Thanks will take a look.
Apps Organizer doesn't offer what the OP asked, only what the second poster asked for (I use it).
I've also been looking for being able to rearrange the app order for months.

woops my bad... some reason my eyes just drifted to the massive picture XD >.< sry about that
Hello, just made an app that allow users to toggle your favourite Home.
I just create a shortcut to the Home you want., just have a look at this Video, maybe that will be easier to understand:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMpONctP2F8
I found that Home switcher need such a feature, I contacted the dev, but doesn't want to work on something like that, so I did it myself!
Remarks:
* Cyrket description here
* Use the longpress on homescreen and create a shurtcut? If you launch the main app, the shortcuts will be created on ALL your Home! so you will need to delete some ;-)
Just tell me if you find that usefull or not!

Changelog:
1.1: Now use the longpress on homescreen to add a shortcut. Will not be repeated on every Launcher like the main app.
1.01: major bug corrected with HTC Sense
1.0: First release
First post edited, the app is now in the Android Market. All seem to work fine.
Does it make the different homes default or is it just to switch between them?

Just a switcher. nothing special and revolutionnary.
Just wanted to share the app that I made for a friend. some people really like it and use it.
I don't have a really need for this app myself, but the few friends friends that try it really loved it.
May i ask where that background image is from? its stunning
Whats the background you have in that video??
Last version in the ANdroid Market allow you to use the longpress on Homescreen to add shortcut only to your favorite home.
Can now be used with launcherPro dock.
Just made an update.
I am very excited for some features, because I am making something like the Sense Desktop.
This allow you to create different Homescreens with different wallpapers and icons.
Please send me feedback!
What's New?
You can now rename the Shortcut. ( and also changing icon in future donate version)
You can now change wallpapers for each Home
I hope this feature will allow people to create Theme like Sense ( one for work, for games, etc...
Possibility to make it the default home when you use a shortcut.
Unfortunately this will break the behavior of the Home button in home ( Expose on LauncherPro or getting back to default homescreen)
Hope you will love it.
Ouch... just fixed a bug that was very annoying!
If you choose EasyHome as default without setting a Home, the app crashed.
Now fixed!
Can somebody help me please, people in comment report crashes, but I've got no problem on all my phones.
The easiest way to check a phone about its various functions or failure of such function is to use its own embedded testing .apk
How to access them is not normally Known to many
All you have to do is
1) Long Press your Desktop
2) Touch shortcuts
3) Touch Activities
4) And you can select activity of any application on your phone ( which has its own pulled down menu to chose from)
By selecting one you will have a shortcut of it placed in your desktop
so all you have to do is now touch that shortcut and its appropriate menu will open for you to test or select from
see screen-shots below
Assuming you have problems with USB connections, Blue tooth, WIFI, Network settings, whatever your phone is supposed to do, can be checked this way including running a ping test etc

If you are using XDA App or Tapatalk, long press on the post and select :good: Thanks Its easier to give "Feedback" in this manner than make an additional post.
Direct shortcuts to activities can be quite useful. One of my main uses is to get access to the fullscreen feeds and updates widget (there is also an activity that allows you to select a few themes for it).
You do however need a launcher such as Launcherpro or Apex launcher installed to get this in the shortcut menu.
Thankyou so much for this insight, I spent 2 years wondering what this option was for and it never crossed my mind to actually try it

You are welcome, seems so simple and right in-front of us to get into the phone, yet little known or used

I was of course teasing you
Figured I would create a thread here so that we don't clog up the main thread but think it would be helpful for people to get examples of what people are running. I always feel like I am not getting the most out it just because there are so many possibilities. I know my situation is different since I am running 2 units but here is what I have currently running, I think I am going to change the navigation to one of the other options because it annoys me how much the location jumps around while sitting still and haven't seen any 3D recently to make it worthwhile

Just downloaded FCC Launcher, and having tried most of the other launchers out there, for me, it is the best one! Currently creating my screens, so will post an image when done. Can't seem to upgrade to the premium version, though.

Were you able to get it upgraded? I love the launcher as well, almost like there are too many options for it

Yes, I had to uninstall, redownload and re-install, and it then worked. You are right; there are so many options. I had my screen all set and ready to take a pic, and then the media player widget stopped showing artwork and track names from DAB-Z. I will get it fixed and then upload an image.
