[Q] Have a brick...at least for the night - Atrix 4G General

I tried wiping my phone before I went from 3 to 3.1 gingerblur. Know I didn't have to just wanted to clean it up...bad idea. If you get that bright idea do yourself a favor and slap yourself instead! Now it will boot sometimes to give me the option to choose launcher or set up and reboots quickly after. Was going to flash with RSD lite but was worried battery was low so I tried plugging in but keeps booting up and now the red light is on (saying im dead) and i guess i made the right choice. Now i cant recharge to battery because when I plug in it automatically tries to boot which kills the battery. I can get a universal battery charger tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. I've searched forums and google but to nothing useful.
[EDIT] I know to charge up and how to flash...not my first rodeo =D thanks for replies though!i!
Right now im charging my batterey with a universal charger at Radio Shack(Cat # 23-972) and it's charging. Brought my laptop & HDD with RSD installed (v5.x) and proper drivers. Just playing the waiting game... Will update, just hope it helps someone else at this point.

Download RSD Life, 1.83 sbf, and flash jing that method. How to's are in the Dev Secetion.

Without a question - CHARGE IT FIRST!! Otherwise it will be a brick not just for the night

Thanks guys but I know how to flash and I know to charge the battery. Just seeing if theres a way to charge without auto booting or if anyone had ideas. I'm sure I'll be fine just wanted to check...it's hard going a night without a my phone ^_^

Ok, maybe a stupid noobie observation, but can't you just charge with the power off?

turn phone on without plugging in and hold the down button (i think its the right one) so you get the boot options (dont choose any), than plug it in and it should recharge i think (not sure tho), second thought, try that one first tho, put battery out for 10 mins than back in and start charging.

RSD read my device!

awesome! thanks! Never read about all those options!
I'm having a devil of a time getting RSD to pick up my device. Have access to another atrix so I know its not the device. Im in rsd mode, drivers and rsd 5.3.x strait from gititbia.ch[ http://gitbrew.org/atrix/?sort=tag ], in win 7 Ive ran as admin, tried every cable (my nexus one cable worked last time), tried starting rsd first then plugged in phone, vis-averse, loaded file first/last, tried running file from desktop and C:/ ,EVERYTHING. I know I'll get it but what a PITA. Last time I used XP machine and I have the same problem, and I had the problem the first time I flashed but it was a stupid rsd-newb mistake. Just gotta keep trying, but I've read just about everything Google gave me and I have no idea WTF's up? thanks for all replies BTW...
[EDIT] Oh and windows, under devices and printers, shows NS FLash Olympus as a device!? ARRGG....Finally got it on XP machine dwith RSD 5.3 and nexus one usb cord

Try rebooting your comp, than start rsd on the comp and let it load, meanwhile start the phone in rsd mode, than connect to usb, thats what works for me. And copy the sbf file to your c:/flash or so, so that its on the system drive + short and basic directory name.

[Q] Burned out Droid X?? wtf happened?? Help anyone?

Let me give you the run down. I recently bricked my phone trying a 2.3.320 SBF update which got stuck on the M logo. I followed steps as on rootzwiki and got my phone working again, with the new 2.3.320 update. I backed up my cricket APN so the reflash wasn't to bad. I use Droid Overclock at low volts running 1.2Ghz. I have done so for months...never had an issue....ran smooth and fast.
After the new SBF update and re-rooting and running my usual overclock settings, my phone got a lil warmer then usual. I was removing bloat at this point, nothing else. I could not get it to boot into the homescreen...I thought this was unusual as I did not delete any important files ( just bloat ). So, I restarted it, so I thought.
I can not even get it to turn on and after several hours on the charger, It will not turn on! I can get into bootloader but all it states is
Batter Low
Cannot Program
When it's plugged into the USB on my computer, the LED light turns solid green and stays green unless I unplug it. I can not turn it on nor boot into recovery. Only thing I can do is load bootloader and get that exact same message everytime.
My phone is in mint condition. Nothing less then perfect....until today, until I loaded the new 2.3.320 using RSD Lite. Whats going on with my phone? Is it a goner? I will be heading to the VZW store for a brand new battery but I don't think it is the case.
Ideas? Anyone? Sad, sad day for my X...
I think the problem may be that you accidently removed the files necessary for it to charge. If you knew someone else that had the same phone, you could try charging your battery in his phone. That could possibly work.
It had 70% charge when I turned it off to reboot it the first time.
Wierdest thing, as I was reading your post...CWM just started up out of no where and out of excitment, I grabbed my phone and hit the camera button on accident and it rebooted, past the M logo but got stuck on the Droid animation! I had my chance to flash it back to a working nandroid and missed it.
Something wierd is going on here...
If you pull the battery, put it in, then plug it in you should go right to CWM. Keep playing with it until you make it in. I know my phone won't boot up (dead battery), but still gets to CWM.
Might have to jump start it
If the battery is too dead you'll either have to borrow a battery or cut a USB cable to 'jump start' it. I found a post with pictures on how to do it for mine, or look for one of my old posts where I describe it a little.
Use the wall charger. I have the same problem except when my phones dead it wont charge over a computer USB cause its not getting the correct voltage for it to charge. Try that if that's not the case then use another battery and sbf.

bricked?

i have unlocked my atrix fine, then failed to flash gingerbread, and so tried to flash back to the original tmobile 2.2.2, but during the sbf flash through terminal, it just stopped dead, then after a while rebooted the phone, and now it does nothing. except the green charge light comes on when plugged in via usb. the power button appears to do nothing, so i cant boot back into fastboot or RSD. help pleeease XD
*EDIT* i have just rebooted with fastboot after many tries to boot failed 4, which is ok i can deal with that, but also "battery to low to flash"
is the phone charging when the green light is on, even when it cant boot? if so thats fine and i'll delete the thread. many thanks

First Rule, always charge your battery to the full before flashing.
Second Rule, always read the instructions carefully beforehand. Most importantly the warnings.
Third Rule, always follow the steps exactly as described.
Fourth Rule, if u face any hiccups or problems please describe in detail. Which version of Atrix, which country, how were u flashing, how did u unlock, what steps did u follow.
tbh i didnt realise that the phone couldnt charge while in fast boot, never even crossed my mind to check. im ok getting the phone out of RSD etc, and am aware of all the warnings, i suppose the real issue here is that when i plug the phone in, it boots up to the fail to boot/RSD screen, and wont charge. is there any way i can force it not to try to boot? thanks
Unfortunately, this sounds like the classic bricking situation. However, more details are required to be sure. To start:
What GB file did you use to upgrade from froyo?
What exactly is your error message?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Buy an external battery charger so you can charge your battery. You can still flash ROMs when you have a fully charge battery using RSD Lite.
i tried to upgrade to GB with an orange sbf, since it seems from other forums tmobile people had had success with it. for whatever reason mine failed at the end, leaving me with RSD mode, then when i tried to flash back to the tmobile sbf from the Original sbf thread, the process just stopped part way through (it had worked fine before, with the same method) and again left me with RSD, but with low charge this time. is there no way around this without buying a charging station? i'd like to save money if possible, and with shipping the phone would be out of action for days, not ideal, though of course if its between that and an argument with tmobile about unlocking/waranty, i'll spend the £20 XD thanks

do you mean charging with a stripped down usb cable? would that not cause the phone to still boot up? the videos i have seen before clamp the wires between the battery and phone terminals, i would of thought this would make the phone boot as it is, without charging since i only have RSD mode? if im wrong, thatd be great, but if not ive found a battery only charger for £0.99 XD

[PROBLEM] Problems with connections (USB/AC charger)

Hello.
I've got a weird problems with my MM2. The main problem is connections. I am having some issues with USB and charger. First of all, let's start about USB. For about one month ago I wanted to copy something onto my phone, but unfortutaltey the computer couldn't see the phone card (It see the phone, RSD lite found it). My first thoughts were going around drivers, so i unintalled it and installed everything from the very beggining, but it didn't changed anything. The phone was still on "Memory card acess" with USB debugging enabled (With disabled it wasn't seen even by RSD lite). Second idea was the USB cable, so i've changed it to other one, but it dosen't change anything. The same thing goes on every PC. Yea, and thats about USB issue. Now I will tell about charger. So, for about two days, i just simply wanted to charge up my phone. I looked at the phone, the notification said, that it is charging properly. OK, so i left the phone to charge up. I came back after one hour, and the battery status went down to 1% from 10%~. I tried to change charger, but still without effect. My friend gave me battery from his MM2 and the same thing happend. After some tricks, I've made my phone to charge up. I just tried to unplug/plug usb. It charged up, and next day i had the same issue. Now i even can't make it charging, it is so frightening. I tried to charge up with USB cable with "Only charge", but without effect.
Help me please, this two things are driving me mad!
My apologises about all the mistakes, my English is so poor.
Roms and Kernel change dosent affect.
Maybe your USB port is bad...
Try flashing a SBF to reset the phone. Do you know to get to bootloader mode? Turn on while pressing volume up and camera buttons, then plug your M2 to PC. That's the only way RSD Lite should recognize your phone correctly.

I flashed SBF 2 times, on 2.2 and 2.2.2 the same problems occurs. RSD recognizes my phone corrently, no matter how it is connected. I said, that I have problems with USB connection, but i meant, that my PC can't see the memory card Other problems were solved, service helped.
Waiting for other replies.
Take sd card to another device and make backup of your data. Format card on ms2 and back your data. in my case it help i dont know why I have problem also milestone see and use sd card but usb sharing to computer didnt work at all, i have no idea why but changing card helped.

RSD Lite not detecting Mini

Like the topic says, RSD Lite isn't detecting my Mini. It is detected and drivers installed in Windows 8.1. Difficult to get phone in fastboot mode, but eventually gets there. Any ideas?
Tried a script a found instead, received a bunch of low battery fails. Can't seem to get the phone to charge, not sure how to proceed.

The best answer for low battery flashing is using a Moto Factory cable...
What difference would that make, the battery would still be drained? It's making it almost impossible to even get into fastboot mode.

Will it boot to recovery? Also do you have moto device manager installed? If not, install it.
Also try a different usb port
When you plug it into power what does it do?

If I don't attempt to boot to recovery but maybe once a day, it will; one time. Device Manager is installed and I've tried all three available USB ports. When I plug it in, nothing happens. The screen stays dark. The only guaranteed way to get the phone up is to hold power and volume up. When these issues first appeared, it would charge while powered off.. sometimes. I baby the phone, definite A-stock. No idea what could have caused it. Rebooted one day and it never progressed further than the Motorola vibration.
Do you have xposed installed? Do you have a custom recovery?
IF so, try flashing something called xposeddisabler.zip from your SD card, then try to boot normally and see if that gets you past the M logo.
Xposed is installed, but I have no custom recovery. I uninstalled Safestrap awhile back to prepare for SunShine and such. That's the most bummer thing about all of this, $25 burning a hole in my pocket to unlock my phone -- something I've waited for since buying my Mini at launch.
I guess the biggest problem I'm facing now is that the device refuses to charge. I can no longer get into recovery. It will however bootup with the power button and using the power+volup. I'm out of ideas. I've found others with this issue, but no one seems to have an answer. I'd really appreciate any helpful feedback.

RSD light has known issues on 8.1. You will have to get it into bootloader mode and manually flash it via adb.

"factory" cable is not the cable that comes with the phone it is a special cable that allows the phone to charge in situations such as yours where the phone will not boot to any stage of the OS.

I dont think the factory cable charges the phone, I believe it bypasses the battery allowing for the phone to powerup straight from the wall/usb power, or flashing when the battery is too low.
there are a couple tutorials on youtube on how to make one using a spare micro usb you have laying around

you're probably right, but either way it gets you by the "low battery" warnings
Finally got my factory cable. How can I get the phone into fastboot mode with it? It instantly turns on and hangs at the same Moto logo trying to boot into Android whenever connected to the PC.
Got it into fastboot mode once, with the factory cable and went into BP Tools. Was able to charge the phone to 19%, but now I can't get back into fastboot.
Nothing happens when plugging USB into wall or PC with factory cable or normal now either >:|
EDIT: let the phone die, and all is well. Booted into fast boot after letting charge 100% and now I'm just looking for restoration files as sbf is down.

Moto G5 Plus Dead (only white light blinking)

This is my first time posting here so hi everyone.
I have a problem with my moto g5+.
I purcased my moto g5+ around a year a go completely new and ended up not using it.
Now my primary device broke down and i thought its time to switch only one problem.
It won't turn on.
When I connect charger white led will consistantly blink but nothing else happens no battery charging screen , nothing.
It wasn't compleatly discharged since I charged it up till 100% and turned it off when I puted it away , i still did charge it a couple times during the year of not using it and last time was a month ago and it charged just fine.
No water or Physical Damage has been done to the phone no rooting also , it just wont turn on.
I tried hard reseting it , tried to hold power button for 5 min tried to enter boot loader to access recovery mode with no luck.
I used original charger and cable that came with phone to charge it.
Since warranty is out of the way by this point because i bought it in july im seeking a fix or recommendation here.
All help will be appreciated

It seems your device had hard bricked, you can recover it by using the blank flash file.
Here is the procedure:-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/help/moto-g5-plus-hard-bricked-recognized-t3636457
But, I don't understand how you are device got hard bricked as you need to downgrade or root it to get your device bricked. But you can recover it by above link.

Tried doing this methode but my pc wont reconize the device as connected , when i connected it to the pc it showed lightning symbol like charging , i left it to charge for 2h but still nothing.
In order to use blankflash successfully your PC needs to be in test mode. To do this
Code:
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Search box.
Under Programs, right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
At the command prompt, type the following text, and then press Enter: bcdedit /set TESTSIGNING OFF.
Close the Command Prompt window, and then restart your computer
When you plug in phone, look at device manager, ports, and see that it is connected. It should say something like "Qualcomm HS- USB Diagnostics " with a port "Comm 7" or whatever #.
1.Be sure Qualcomm drivers are installed.
2.Make sure your Hard Bricked Moto is connected in device manager under ports .
3.Hold volume down and power until you see it connect under ports. It should say "qhsusb-bulk" You should hear a slight sound from PC when it connects. This can be very tricky as another member [ Rakesh1b] explained his method.
trick is to press and hold the power button then it disconnects and connects to pc u could hear sound from pc then press voldown and power and launch blankflash.bat at the same time i mean same time then it detects and leave the buttons once you see the script running if not it will reboot the device and after running the script it will be booted to fastboot mode . if u failed 1st time repeat same power off then remaing things same as mentioned.

Good luck, as it is not an easy process. One time it took me nearly half an hour to time it right, to get blankflash to run successfully. Also I played with a phone that would never flash Vaches blankflash for the G5 + but had to use the one for addison, Moto Z play. When that happens you have to do the extra step of flashing the addison to potter files. Hopefully you won't have to do all that, but just warning that sometimes it is necessary. Like I posted before, in device manager on PC, make sure under ports it shows as qhsusb-bulk under the port it lists as. Also be sure you have adb/fastboot and all its drivers correctly installed. I am really curious as to how it got hard bricked, because even doing my test phone, it is difficult to hard brick it. I have this "test phone" that has a bad microphone, so I have run it through all kinds of crap, rather than jeopardise my every day phone.

If your phone was in oreo, you maybe want to try the addison (moto z play) blankflash, i once bricked mine and the potter blankflash always failed.
Also try the USB 2.0 ports, as the 3.0 ones doesn't recognizes it.
Put it on the charger and let it charge. IT could just be deader than disco.
Also check your cable make sure it's a data cable buddy.

Well good news is , that i manged to get it to show up as the device with which i should be able to do blank flash.
The problem now is it won't stay in bootloader to be recognized as that device longer than 30 sec.
It just turns off after some time and pc automaticly wont recognize it anymore.

Well managed to get it to point where my pc recognized phone as device buuut another thing came up. It only is recognized for max 30sec after witch phone gets disconected from pc. Any way to fix that? Or mby im doing something wrong here? I'm starting to consider battery replacment which i dont want to do because it awful to replace battery on this thing.
What is it recognised as? Battery replacement may save you from having to go through the blankflash process if the device will not stay on while plugged in. Only use blankflash if it shows as qhsusb-bulk.

I was able to boot in to android , factory reset it but the problem was as soon i pluged in the charger phone went from 44% up to 89% in 2 sec then droped to 14% and then to 0 and turned off. I was able to turn it on again after that , it showed 44% like before the charger was connected then I tried to charge it while it was off and since then I haven't been able to go past booting screen since it just turns off after like 30sec on boot screen.
Mby i should just buy a new battery and see if that will fix it.

I would recommend that or to take it to a service center. Using the blankflash method could brick the device forever (if it's just a battery/display problem), also you will have to live with another devices bootloader and resulting problems from that.

Well service center is out of the way since closest one to me is like 200km away . I should be able to replace it my self so no problems there. I just hope that maybe replacing the battery will fix everything since the phone is practicly brand new and it would be painful and expensive if it's not a battery problem but like motherboards or smth like that.

Well good news is , that i manged to get it to show up as the device with which i should be able to do blank flash.
The problem now is it won't stay in bootloader to be recognized as that device longer than 30 sec.
It just turns off after some time and pc automaticly wont recognize it anymore.

Reboot your pc, and connect the phone to the wall charger for about 10 minutes, then try again the blankflash, and when it's done just play around with the volume up/down buttons just to keep the bootloader on, and use the g5+ toolkit to flash the oreo stock firmware
in any case, this is the blankflash i used it

How did you managed to show it up as a device , i couldn't. I tried everything that i understood from written on these forums, installed qualcomm drivers , moto g5 plus drivers. The device doesn't show up in device manager, its just blinking and doesn't show anything else , i tried charging it overnight. The Led light does go away after a while when i put it o charging, but when i hold down the power button and volume down key it starts blinking again and nothing beyond that

Well for me it works like this , i leave it for about 12h (over night) untouched , then after that I can put it on charger and get in bootloader with holding down power button and vol down button at the same time. I have seen some other people that have revived their phones like this usualy they say to just leave it for 24h but for me it works after 12h. if u can get in to the bootloader
after those hours and the phone doesn't turn off (like mine) I would suggest that u leave it for charging in bootloader for atleast 2h and then try to power it on in factory mode thats how I got it to work one time. I hope this will help you.

Thanks for replying.
A few points to clear with 12 hours untouched ,do you mean i have to left phone as it is without even charging and if so after 12 hours for how much time do you charge it before getting it to bootloader and did you charge it with the moto turbo charge or just a regular charger or with computer.
