[Q] Trying to install ANY OFW fails

Hi guys I'm sorry to inconvenience you all but I have a problem that 2 hours of searching has failed to solve. I know you guys on xda-devs are awesome and respond quickly!
I bought a Dell Streak 02 with 16gb class 2 microsd today.
It has android 1.6 build 3883.
I rooted it with superboot (and i'm pretty sure it was sucessful, typing su in a terminal works).
I then looked into installing custom roms (first thing I do when I buy any PDA/Phone)
I decided that Froyo would be a good idea because I want to have a look at some multitouch apps and use skype.
I found the guide on here, installed the 4399 recovery successfully, downloaded the official latest 2.1 update and renamed it update.zip, booted into recovery and clicked the camera button. The familiar installing logo came up (i've rooted 5 android devices)
then after around 15-30 seconds it says the file was bad.
I've had this when a file fails to download properly, so i downloaded the file again, no look.
tried renaming it Update.pkg instead of update.pkg, no luck.
Tried downloading other packages, earlier leaked builds, even the 4399 1.6 ROM. all have had the same problem.
I tried a few different MicroSD cards, and no luck...
I don't know where to go from here. Please help me, i've googled and searched for quite a few hours now!

i also have the same problem and there is no guide showing how to get from O2 1.6 baseband 3883 to 2.1 etc so if anybody with baseband 3883 has managed to do so could you please assist, would be very greatful.
*i have been able to root using universal androot but either creating a revovery image or being able to update to 2.1 and thus 2.2 has eluded me

It doesn't show how to upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1
I figured it out anyway.
Install a custom recovery for 1.6.
flash a 1.6 update.zip (4399)
install 4399 recovery
install 2.1 update
you know the rest.
I don't think a 3883 rom will work with the 4399 recovery for whatever reason.

Need a little help restoring/Flashing my streak

Hey guys,
Im not new to flashing roms etc,
but this is the first time i have so much trouble with it.
I read the streak how to PDF and followed the instructions on installing superboot.
when i installed superboot, the phone reset itself, and when it turns on, the dell logo shows up and the "home and menu" led starts flashing on and off and the restarts again.
I tried following the instuctions on how to restore the phone, but none of it worked. i specifically followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805112
and when i try to flash the update.pkg, i get an error at the end about the boot bin or something like that.
anyone have any ideas?

I heard something about a QDL tool i could use...not sure what that is and i couldnt find an exact answer searching the forums.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: found a guide on using the QDL tool, im going to try it now wish me luck lol

If u got yours from best buy u need to use QDL. Read carefully and just do as it says

i just need to figure out why when i try to install dj steves rom it gives me
"failed to verify signature"

ok so now i am having a hard time rooting the phone.
I am using the android 2.2 provided from QDL and am trying to root via universal androot which isnt working for me.
any other ways i can root?
note: im using a best buy dell streak

If you are updating to his 1.6 then you dont need to root it.
It it pre-rooted

It turns out that the "how to pdf" (while an amazing guide) linked me to outdated versions of the the recovery which is why it would not work.
everything is working now,
running steves 1.6 and loving life. Thanks every one for your help!!!!!

Stuck on logo, tried almost anything!

I have an 02 Dell Streak with Stephen Hyde 1.5.1 rom. One day the phone just dont boot up. All i get is the Dell logo. Ive tried to downgrade to android stock 1.6, 2.1, 2.2 etc. Tried numerous of files with no succes.
When i now put a update file on my sdcard i only get this message> "Android system recovery utility - GAUSB1A110421. To perform an emergency software recovery, you will need to insert a microSD card containing an update file. (/sdcard/update.pkg). To download an update file, and for further instructions, visit dell.com. Press the Volume down button to power off."
What im i doing wrong and how can i fix it?

dell streak stuck on logo please help

i can still get it to fastboot but it stop at dell logo please help me. I hate using my old phone is qdl easy to use or my other option is this place called 10,000 cell phone and he says he gonna send it to dell!

I will only tell you to do a Factory Reset from the DELL recovery.
If you don't know what that means then you have to search. It's answered in here a million times

First of all, what did you do to your streak prior to this? Did you flash anything? Make sure you flashed the correct amss.mbn for your baseband. If they are not in tunewith each other you will get stuck on dell logo.

There is no Cyanogen for the Dell Streak so why would you try to flash with it

That means...put it on the memory card,do not put it inside any of its folders.

you might be better off using QDL Tool and start again, I have found that it is always better to start from a working devise, there is also a video walk through to help you as well

You have to have StreakMod or Clockwork flashed to phone to use one of the custom ROMs. If you're getting that message that means our phone still is using the factory recovery image (all this is in the guide I posted for you that you claim to have read but obviously haven't).
Your best bet since you still have the custom recovery intact is to download a stock ROM update.pkg from the DELL Streak WiKi page and flash that.
I'd be more than happy to walk you through doing any of this over the phone but I live in Costa Rica and I don't think you wanna call hear, but that's up to you. I wouldn't charge you anything of course, mainly because the call wouldn't be cheap.

streakflash will do the same thing, its just meant to be used for bricked devises

Pre-requisites to flashing ROM:
1. Have small amount of technical ability, not much really.
2. Be able to read and follow instructions, lots of this ability is required.
3. Know how to use Google Search.
4. Tie your own shoes. Really says a lot about you if you can do this.
5. Walk and chew gum.
If you do not posess any of the above, a brick is usually what you get. Again try searching. The answer to your question is out there, because a thousand other fools have asked the exact same questions. Plus side to searching is keeps the forums free of clutter.

To install StreakDroid you should use StreakMod Recovery. It sounds like you still have the stock recovery installed.
.pkg files install with stock recovery
.zip files install with custom recobery

fix it i dl 353 pkg and recovery and it works NOW that for all your input fellas

Hey man happy for you... NOW that you know how to revive it then do A LOT more reading and in a few days you can try to flash the good stuff again (StreakMod and StreakDroid)

Ideos x5 pro (U8800pro) No WiFi after update to 2.3.5

Hello people! I just updated my u8800pro to version 2.3.5 using the rom provided in Huawei's homepage. The problem is that bluetooth and wifi are buth unavailable. No MAC address on either of them. I tried reflashing but no success in that.
Another issue came up after trying to install the ics version also provided from the official site:
Step 1 of the process ended up always in "Update failed" and also ruined the sd card. When i insert it i get a "checking for errors" message and that's it. I'm really disappointed atm and mostly angry since following their steps just ruined the phone.
Any ideas?
Update: It seems i flashed a wrong rom (u8800 instead of pro) and couldn't go back to the right one. Pink screen was showing but I couldn't see the filesystem on my pc. The solution was installing a file explorer through hi-suite and through that the CWM. It is now back to normal with a KALO rom.
(I noticed that I posted in the wrong forum...)
