I just recently had an issue with my laptop showing limited access to the internet and have been trying to find out how to fix it. Its a belkin router and my a500 and iPod touch both still connect fine. So I was going to see it I could redownload the drvrs since I don't know where my CD is, I tried putting me USB drive into this and when I went to down load it was just a bunch of jumble.

I want to Tether/Share my modem over USB not BT, Wifi, if its more relable then the BT connection would be fine to.

I actually use the bt tethering as it is just as fast as USB and honestly using the usb on the mac for anything other than charging would be a headache. second you can keep your 6800 in it's holster and connect just fine as well. sorry i don't have more info but it does work very well IMHOP.

you will never be able to tether over USB because that requires a computer that recognizes that the HTC device is a LAN connection. and since the software was built for windows and the OSX drivers are not built in you cannot tether over USB
allright then maybe you can help me with my very unstable BT connection, 90% of the time im lucky to keep a data connection for most the 15mins until I get a unexpected error

I have tried just about everything to get my Xoom to work with my 64bit Windows 7 system, but the various steps do not work. What is even more odd is that I have a laptop with windows 7 64bit enterprise that works perfectly with the Xoom.
So here are the symptoms:
1) When I connect the Xoom without debugging on, it tries to install a driver, but fails with a message about MTP drive failure.
2) When I turn debugging on, it installs a driver and tells me that the Xoom installed, but then my computer goes wonky. I can't open "My Computer", it like Windows Explorer freezes up. As soon as I disconnect the Xoom, my desktop works correctly again and I can go into "My Computer".
A few times i've gotten into "My Computer" after the Xoom installed, but when I double click on the Xoom icon it just times out.
The only difference I can think of between this PC and my laptop is that in the past I've connected my Droid X to this PC, and used those drivers. I'm not sure if it is some sort of issue because of the X or what. I've installed, uninstalled, cleaned, restarted, etc... with the Motorola drivers.
Its driving me nuts. Has nobody else had this problem?
Did you try different USB ports on your computer? I was kind of experiencing the same thing. I'm also running Windows 7 Enterprise x64. My explorer window would freeze up when I tried to transfer data from my PC to the Xoom. While frozen, switching from/to normal/debugging mode would unfreeze things, until I tried copying again.
My problem was resolved when I connected my Xoom to another USB port on my PC, one that was integrated with the motherboard. Previously, I was plugging it into one of the front USB ports.
So my suggestion is to try a different USB port, preferably one that's on the back of your PC.
i ran into the same issue as well.
this was fixed by changing to a different usb cable, and inserting it into a different port.
if you're connecting it to the front of your computer USB connector, try connecting via back of your desktop computer.
this worked for me.
Like another poster has suggested, the usb ports on the front of the base unit or ports on a usb hub might not be powerful enough to run the Xoom. I've had the same thing with external hard drives.

If I had to guess, I'd say that your front USB ports are either failing or under powered. I assume that you've tried a USB port on the back?

I rooted my NC from 1.1.0 using autonooter awhile ago and it works pretty well in general. I used to be able to hook it up to my home PC (w7) and my work PC (XP) with no problems. ADB worked (usually), the drives showed up, etc.
Everything still works on the work PC, and another W7 PC I tried it on.
Now, for some reason, neither the NC nor its SD card show up on my home PC when I plug it in! The NC shows the normal "USB Mode" screen when I plug it in, and my PC makes the USB Ding sound. But no new drives show up.
The only thing I can think of that changed is around the time it stopped working, I replaced my old USB Card reader with a new one (old one didn't work with SDHC). I also renamed some drive letters to reorganize them, since the card reader always shows 4 drive letters in windows.
I don't see the USB controller entry for the NC that I used to see in Device Manager either.

I was having some bizarre connection issues with my PC, too, and they seem to have been corrected (at least they haven't recurred) by using a USB extension cable. It makes no sense, and I didn't do it to attempt a fix, but just noticed that the issues seemed worst when plugging into the top-side 'convenience' USB ports, and had an extra extension cable sitting around, so I plugged that into a rear port to make access less awkward. Since then, the PC consistently mounts everything just like it should.
I'm still using the NC's data cable, just plugging it into a maybe 1' extension cable rather than directly in the slot.
my XP based computer won't see the rooted NC either, however I will have to try using a port on the motherboard as opposed to one of the front mounts and see if that does the trick. I just kinda gave up on it as I didn't really need it too bad (I only use my nook for email, web browsing, and to control my DVR).
Well I unrooted my NC as I had planned anyway to upgrade to 1.2, but the problem hasn't gone away.
I tried plugging into an extension cable I have that goes directly to a MoBo rear port, but no change.
I can't run the nookcolorUMS now that I'm unrooted. Maybe I'll try it when I re-root eventually.
The thing is, it works on every other computer, so I can't figure out why it would stop working on just this one. It seems like it must be a windows issue, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is.

To move files around I use File Expert/network to access the PC via wireless from the device.
It's easy, reliable, and FAST.

That's a good tip. Unfortunately you have to use USB for certain functions, like manual nooting, or synching with Calibre (I suspect).
Once I'm rooted again I'll probably start using wireless for small stuff, but if I'm moving a gigabyte movie over, I'm not sure how long that will take, or how much battery it will use.
Does anything come up in device manager when you connect it? If so, did you try deleting anything that does come up, disconnect and start over? Worth a shot....
You don't have to guess--if you see a USB device that might be the NC, open properties>details and from the dropdown choose "hardware ids." If the number 2080 is in the id, it's the NC.

I experienced a similar issue and this was what causing it.
1. I have 2 front USB connections (nothing connected to either)
2. External Power USB hub connected to a rear USB slot
On Win 7, whenever I plug-in the NC via USB, I got a device not recognize error. I tried plugging it into different ports and pretty much either got no detection or device not recognize. Here is the kicker, as soon as I plug it into the usb hub, window recognize and mount it right away. This also happen to be true if I remove the usb hub altogether.
I was wondering if anyone has successfully been able to get their Honeycomb and/or Acer A500 to connect online with either a usb connection or with bluetooth?
I have a blackberry 8520 which i've installed pdanet on and as far as i know got it successfully running.
I was able to then pair the A500 up with the BB, but it said that it wasn't connected to the BB.
Is there an app that i should download and install on the tablet? I do have gingerbreak installed on here and this is rooted.

I have been trying to Google it. From what I've seen, people have been able to connect via USB through their Android phones, by setting up an ad-hoc.
I've tried using the mini usb, but had no luck. And bluetooth pairs but doesn't connect.
I have been able to tether mine to my Samsung Galaxy and get the internet that way. I take it you can't do this with your BlackBerry. With regards to Bluetooth, I had a similar problem where it was paired with my phone but not connected. I noticed that if I sent a file from one to another it would then ask to connect and you had to give permission.

I was able to do some file transfers from my EVO 4G when I first set up my new Thrive. Then all of a sudden it stopped working with an error that basically states the target device has rejected the transfer. So I tried with my Macbook Pro, same deal. I cannot transfer any files TO the Thrive from any device (I even tried with my son's Transformer, no go...).
Anyone have any clue as to why it worked for two files then all of a sudden stopped?
Mine is the same way; simply won't connect. I'm guessing it's a Honeycomb issue. For now I have just been using a thumb drive between netbook and the Thrive to swap files. The netbook also won't see the Thrive if I connect through USB. Guess it's wait and see what kind of adventures/solutions Ice Cream brings

Try turning off usb debugging before you connect to other devices when using a cable.As far as the bluetooth issues I'm gonna let someone that is familiar with that answer. sorry
Lol, I also just use a USB drive to move files from my computer as my computer can't seem to read the Thrive, just hope when the 3.1 updates comes out here it wil fix it. On another note, when I try to transfer Bluetooth files from a Mac or my Android phone I just get a fail.
