Hey guys. Please vote at the Android issues link below
Hopefully we can rally enough votes for them to include Exchange Global Address List support in Android.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4602#makechanges
I also added in the comments that we should be able to search and save from GAL from the contacts as well as email.
Come on. DO IT.
You can already search the GAL (simply click search...), you simply can't list it like an address book. I don't know why you would want to save contacts from the GAL defeats the point of it being a GAL

Hey all, and I'd like to say I have never seen a forum with so much info on it before....this place is great.
I have two questions regarding my new toy.
1) I read a thread on the site a day or so ago, but clever IE on my desktop has cleared my History so I can't see the pages I've visited - The page had a post from someone listing a whole host of registry hacks and which keys need adjusting etc to make the changes stick. If anyone knows of a thread with a list of all the hacks and the keys to change could you please link it here.
2) I have configured my Gmal account on my XDA and am able to connect and send/recieve ok however I have a slightly different question: I use a forwarded email address from my domain name which forwards my domain name email to my Gmail account, and then on Outlook on the desktop, I use the Reply Address feature to hide the Gmail address so that people see the domain address.
Is there anyway to do this on the built-in Outlook style email client on the device as I've looked about and can't see anything.
Many thanks for any help anyone can provide.
With regards to registry tweaks, the following won't be the exact page your looking for but it's very comprehensive and is regularly updated (so it will more than likely cover all the settings you saw)...

Yep keitaro's link is good.
Include this one also http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Wizard_Tweaks
and the big all tweaks topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=38957
Brilliant - The 2nd one is the thread I was after.
Thanks very much
Hi All
I tried searching everywhere, no one could give me an answer to this. I am yet to receive my Nexus one and I had 2 major concerns.
1. I would like to be able to search the Global Address List (GAL) for a phone number to make a phone call.
2. To search and input email addresses from the Global Address List (GAL) when composing a mail.
Can some one please clarify if it is currently possible, if not as usual please tell us a way forward.
Thanks in advance and sorry if I am naive.
i tried the one off the droid, installs but doesn't work says requires other droid peices, calendar sync from droid fails install all together
I saw just this solution for GAL now..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5315002&postcount=36
Is there anyway the calendar and the GAL can be incorporated without rooting the phone. I am a big time n00b and dont want to risk screwing the warranty on a new $600 phone, especially when i live on the other side of the earth
This solution does not work on Nexus One
Does any one have a solution for N1 with the original ROM
I was trying to figure this out a long while ago for the Magic when we were still using Exchange at work. The only way I could find then was syncing to Google Contacts and get those on the phone. There are a number of solutions for getting contacts from Exchange -> Google, but I can't remember much about it anymore.
Hello everyone. New to this forum and so far I have found it to be very helpful so thanks to everyone who shares their wisdom and knowledge. First of all let me say that as a faithful BB owner, I felt a bit guilty switching to Android but the DI was too compelling to pass up. So far it has not disappointed. I absolutely love me phone, except for one major quirk. Namely, the address information from Gmail contacts all goes into the Street field in the People app. I have read the threads on Gmail's forum on this and know that for some odd reason Gmail is not following industry standard of using separate fields for the components of the street address. I'm less concerned about pointing fingers than finding a workable solution for this issue.
I work on a MAC and use Entourage. I had been using Missing Sync to synchronize my contacts in Entourage with the Contacts on my BB and then using Google Sync to synchronize my BB with Gmail. I'd like to have the same configuration with my DI.
If I add or change an address in the People App, the change is sync'd with Gmail and all is fine. If I however make any change to a contact in Gmail, after sync the address info is f'd up. which is then propagated to my Entourage.
One workaround would be to limit doing my edits to my phone and Entourage. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Sorry for length of this post.
Thanks,
Oscar
Hi !
I use HD2 for the work...
I have 2 "BIG" problemswith all non-sense android 2.3 roms....
1. GAL Support !
How can I add support for GAL ?? I mean global address list ?? In WM Sense and also in Android Sense when I create a new email just presing the "TO" I can select any contact stored or search in GAL (the GAL the company I work has like 50000 contacts so sync them is not an option).
In market "Corporate Address Book" let u do that work... but is not enough since I usually add various contacts... and that sw only let u create new email with the contact u search... If u search another one it creates a totally new email.
Is there anyway to have GAL exactly as in WM Sense / Android Sense ??
2. Email SW problem with emails
Under "Quantity for Sync" u can choose between 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks and 1 Month. Ok but WHERE the hell is the option to choose ALL... I have never seen an email client without that option in many many time !
Anyway to add both functions in Android 2.3 ?? Anyway to install htc email client / contacts in a non sense rom ??
Really ty for all !!
Any ideas ??
This is a big problem for all that sync their exchange work accounts...
K9 does not support GAL also....
And neither of them support also a so simple task that is just adding a contact email to the "To/Copy/Hidden Copy....".
TY
Try Corporate Addressbook
I downloaded Corporate Addressbook from the Android Market and it works very well for me with my corporate exchange account. You can use it stand alone to look up GAL entries and (optionally) add them to your contacts. What is really nice (at least for me...) is that it also seems to automatically work in my email now. If I type in a contact name that is not in my own contacts, it automatically starts looking in the GAL.
Give it a try.
I am using Gingerbread from MDJ's Cyanogen 2.6.
What about a way to search emails? I cannot seem to find a way to search my inbox for emails that are on the phone. I can get the KB to pop up, but nothing happens when I type....?
I want to write a Email to APP developers to introduce my product, how could I get lot of Email address of developers especially Android developers?
I have tried to get some Email address from Googleplay but it is not as useful as I thought.
A friend tell me that ,"You can get a help from linked in. Try to find out profiles of Android app developers in linked in. Also you can use Facebook, twitter and Google+. More on, you can find professional profiles on job finding websites like monster, indeed etc."
Thanks for his suggestion but what I really want to get is a lot of Email addresses at once rather than I search their information in social network one by one.
Is there some tools or products can help me?
Use this forum?

Yes, Social Media is the powerful tool to get the contacts and linkedin is the best and professional. Join in Android groups and become the member and get in touch with other members to promote your app.
You can get developers email just grab it directly from GooglePlay with simple parser

Click to collapse
There is a chrome extension for that. I don't know the name
Parsing a list of email address isn't a good idea. When was the last time you received a spam message you liked?
I agree with @Whatinside. Any spam email that hits my inbox are immediately reported as such and deleted.
I think creating a "webbinar" or a landing page, where you make something special, and simply ask for their email.
Social Media is the best way to connect people. LinkedIn is the one of the best social media platform. You can join the groups of relevant field and from their you can get their email-ids. Similarly you can get email-ids from facebook, twitter, google+.
