Just picked up my Iconia today at staples.... after playing with it a few hours I have found some issues.
1. One stuck green pixel
2. Two bright white pixels
3. Screen randomly turns on
4. Tablet says it's charging when it's not plugged in
EDIT: Staples replaced my Tablet... no dead or stuck pixels this time but I am having some minor light bleeding on the right side of the lcd.
Ill make this simple for you. Take it back for a new one. You can't fix dead pixels and as far as I know I haven't heard of anyone else having any out of the box.

You're certainly not alone with the random screen-on thing. It's a known issue and Acer is working to fix it. As for the dead pixels... return it and get a new one!

Well I haven't seen any threads about bright or stuck pixels so I figured it was a fluke. Going to try to trade it in for a new one tommorow.

Well I received my nexus one about a week ago and I absolutely love everything about it...
Unfortunately I've just noticed two dead pixels on the screen. One top left and the other bottom right. Both about an inch in from the screens edge.
I've seen a lot of posts of people complaining about clicking edges and dust under their screens but I'm pretty sure this is not dust. The specks look identical to each other and are tiny in size. They are mainly visible on light/white backgrounds.
Unfortunately I live far away from any of the Google supported countries so doing any kind of exchange is going to be really difficult :-(
Anyone seen similar issues? Any suggestions?
There's a coupla apps on the market to check for dead pixels.
All they do is flash up white, black, red, green, blue so you can see what pixel is stuck. It might be worth trying one of those just to make sure they are actually dead pixels.
If they were working before, they might just be stuck pixels, and alot of toggling between colours may unstick them.

But if it was a stuck pixel then you would see it lighting up on dark backgrounds but these are only noticeable on white or bright backgrounds.
BTW I have already tried the market apparently and no joy.
Has no one else been noticing these?
I had one stuck pixel that appeared a couple days after i got my phone
but i fixed it and it came back like 5 times.
But knock on wood its been 4 weeks and it hasn't come back.
Mine was weird it would only show on the lock screen and it was very random but once i swiped to unlocked it went away so it wasn't that bad.
If i were you I would return it especially were its two pixels and software isnt fixing it.

OLED have very deep blacks so its hard to tell if its stuck on black or if it is dead
...anyhow if you cant fix it you should return it.
Man returning it is a such a mission as it was bought in Singapore and I'm not even there any more...
I suppose I could find a way to send it back there and then from there back to the US.... heh. The problem is that I only received the handset about a week ago so if these kinds of problems have been reported since the launch whaat says the replacement wont have the exact same issue? Which would then be a massive waste of time and money ;(
Thats the problem i even set up an RMA to return mine but had a gut feeling i would regret it. So i canceled my RMA and prayed the pixel would eventually not stick anymore.
I didn't want to take a chance of getting a referb phone with other issues.
I feel your pain EVERY device that I get now days that has a LCD screen ALWAYS has at least one dead pixel. But to my surprise my Nexus One is 100% fine .
So i got a new A500 from costco over the Motorola XOOM because it had the USB port and i turned it on and put on angry birds to test it out. Instantly, I noticed that there was a stuck pixel in the middle and that there was a big spec of dust covering at least 5 square pixels under the glass. I thought it was just bad luck so i went and switched it out at Costco for another A500 and it had 3 stuck pixels, a bubble inside the glass, and a spec of dust. I am going to return it and get the XOOM from Costco. I am really dissappointed about the quality control of Acer and i will never buy from them again. Sadly, the XOOM isn't being sold at costco anymore either because there are the new quad core tabs coming out or the galaxy tab 10.1 is coming because it's for pre-order online. But never again with Acer. Has anybody else had an experience like me? And i suggest that you all use a pixel testing app to see if your Acer A500 has stuck pixels or dust under the screen.
Sorry to hear you had issues. Myself, I have no issues with the screen. I am enjoying mine.
Nope, I have a completely perfect screen on mine: no specks of dust, no bubbles, no dead or stuck pixels, no discoloration or anything.
Wow am I just unlucky? Anyone have screen problems?
negative and I purchased mine at costco. Loving every minute of it when I can get it away from th kids
nope.
No issues - screen is 100% perfect and has stood up to a couple months of heavy use (most of it outdoors) without any screen protection - have no scratches, no dead pixels, been 100% perfect since the day I bought it.
Perfect Screen on Mine too
Not a single problem with my screen at all. It looks great.
No issues here.
They may have had a bad batch shipped to them. The next time you go to return it, tell them your history with the last two and suggest that you would like to inspect the tablet before you walk out the door.
Just probably a bad batch! No issues with mine I love it!

Had tried two Iconias, both of them had dust/stuck pixels on the display. The third was ok and I got that one. However, the case assembly was rather poor for all of them (small visible gaps at the edge of the covers, covers not aligned etc) - not awful, but if you look closely you can see the flaws. Had this with a Galaxy Tab 7 as well though, so I assume it's not just Acer.
ive had two a500s and they both have had dust under the screen when i got them, but that is the extent of my problems.
i had a stuck pixel in additional to the fake chrome coating coming off the volume button. Sold it, haahah. O well. Yep. Bad quality control.
Do you REALLY want to resort to a Xoom of all things?
Try again with the iconia....if that does not work then look at the Asus Transformer.
But a Xoom? YUCK!
no problens here either

My screen is very nice, much better than the one on my laptop as far as uniform lighting and colors go.
No issues at all with the screen. Just the case has quite sharp edges at the gaps.
Just noticed on my A500 it has a dead pixel on the left side about half way up and about 1/2" from the edge. Not too noticable but can definitely see it when screen is black there. Gonna return it before my 15 days are up at Walmart and more than likely get another one. I really like this tablet BTW.

Are you sure it's dead or stuck? Stuck pixels can be a white or black but dead pixels are generally ONLY black.
If it's stuck you may want to try one of the many utilities found in the market to get it unstuck before you head back to Walmart. Chances are (if you're anything like me) you'd have gotten it replaced sooner than later though, lol..
Either way, enjoy your A500
I had two units with dead pixels. One blue pixel (subpixel) and one lit. Cheap crappy LCD panels ((
This one is a blue pixel or subpixel I guess. You can't see it at all on red green or white but can on blue or black. I have tried the pixel fixers and let it run for an hour but no go. I want to take it back anyway on day 14 or 15 so I can get another one for 15 days and that should be enough time for peeps to try the Archos g9 101 out. Although this Iconic runs at 1.5ghz all day long so I don't know if the Archos would be any better in that department. We will see.

Hi all,
Was messing about playing Ravensword yesterday, noticed during the loading screen that I have two, yes two dead pixels!
Shock horror, get me a replacement naow!
Lol.
But in all seriousness, has anyone else got any? If you do; what type of screen have you got?
I'm looking into mine now and will report back later.

14 on this unit. Haven't seen a ONE without defective pixels (stuck/dead). Tends to happen a lot more often on HTC devices, had to send 7 ONE X back to Amazon last year because none of them had lass then 5 defective pixels.

Yeah I have heard others saying its a common HTC thing. The handset I have now has the issue where a tiny amount of light can come through the bottom right corner of the glass, but considering the flawless display I'm holding on to it for dear life
I work at CPW and checked through 5 units at my home store to find one without stuck pixels. They all had them. Wasn't until I went to another store I got a perfect one. Makes me think batch issues or sheer dumb luck!
I got 1st replacement from p4u and it's got one stuck white pixel which is visible when brightness between 10 to 60% approx but gone when full or lowest brightness I tried lots of apps but it's still there

I've seen numerous units with gaps and light shining through them. That is far more annoying then 1-2 dead pixels that are barely visible. But 14 ... c'mon - that is not quality control. Funny thing is: I had 5 out of the box. The other 9 became visible only after one hour of usage.
I have none that I can see, I'm not going to go looking for them as with a screen of this PPI you'll probably find some if you look close enough. At normal viewing range with Auto brightness however, I cannot see anything. what I am getting is a weird screen flicker every now and then when typing on the keyboard, I seem to notice it on greys but it could be my imagination so I'll just see. The phone gets bloody hot but testing a few devices at work apparently 42c is a normal battery temp when running some intensive games, so I guess I'll just live with the device slow cooking my hand.
That flickering is "normal" I'm afraid. Also appears on fixed brightness with mine.
I have at least 5, although 1 is clearly visible now that i know it is there. Another one is on the bottom corner so not visible unless you look for it.
The others i haven't seen in a non all-black screen. Not really visible
I'm on HT339W with PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_2
Pixel fixing apps did not work
Had 2 Xperia z handsets with dead or stuck pixels so switched to HTC one, had 2 of them and both had clusters of dead pixels. Awaiting 3rd htc handset now.
QA definetly seems to have dropped on this years handsets. Had 3 of the flagships from last year (returned for various faults) and all were pixel defect free first time.
Going to stick with replacement HTC ones (for now) as it is a nicer phone than the Xperia. Would really like to just get a non defective handset and use it now tho, been 3 weeks of exchanges already as I have to do it all by post.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Thins is are you looking closely with brightness fully up and using white and black pages? You're going to have dead pixels when PPI is this high, luckily under normal use you wont see them unless there is a cluster.

Something people tend to forget is that with higher resolution screens come more chance for dead pixels. This phone has over 2.07 Million pixels (2,073,600). Dead/Stuck pixels are harder to detect with a ppi as high as this.
.00009645% of your pixels are dead.
Had my HTC one for 1 day. Purchased from affordable mobiles and have seven dead pixels, faulty camera, gaps too and bottom. Give me my amoled s2 back !!!! Problem for me know is I have micro SIM and my s2 is locked to 3 UK !!!!
Knew I should of waited for the s4 and this is my punishment.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I think these things come from first batches given the race with S4.
I will wait quality control calm down a bit their eyes.
.
Dumb question. I've had a couple of Samsung devices in a row and didn't have any dead/stuck pixels - other odd blotches, but no pixel issues.
Is this not possible on amoled screens, or was I just lucky?
Believe me or not but I got some kind of curse, since 15 years I buy tons of electronics and electrical stuff but only 5% of which turned out to perfectly fine and without any problem, almost every item I buy in the past have some kind of problem on arrival or it must be claimed for warranty
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Can I ask an out-of-topic question?
Samsung and JDI, who is the one producing One's screen? I saw the name of the panel is PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_1 or PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_2, where I can see both JDI and Samsung here
I'm getting panicky now, I'm on my 8th Xperia Z now because they all had, including this one, dead/stuck pixels!
I'm getting it exchanged for a HTC One, just hope that I won't be harassed by dead pixels! I'm only 21 and these pixels are making me age by decades, completely stressed out constantly exchanging phones due to pixel problems and having patronising blind turds in Carphone telling me they can't see anything!

So i noticed about a week ago when I bring up a black or grey background there was a red smudge in the pixels about two inches long. Finally got around to contacting Asus and i have to send it in now.
Just curious, does anyone else have this?
you can see it next to storage and battery
I do, only noticeable when the screen is all black.. Never really bothered me..

I don't remember where, but I've seen something similar to this on another device. I'm guessing there's electronics pressed against the screen in those areas, creating an effect sort of like when you push on an LCD screen with your finger.
