Any idea on how soon is "soon"? ... I'm waiting to get it from CPW but don't want to stump up the current £494.95 only to have them drop it a few days later.

They did do so at launch... but some people are reporting that O2 stores have been told by HO not to do so atm and it seems they've taken that option off their website now too. CPW has introduced Network Price Promise so they may price match but might not do so now/yet because of O2's apparent withdrawal of their 399 GBP payg deal...

Just went to a few other forums and it seems like O2 stopped the PAYG deal on the 6-7th May and someone who called them today says they may start the deal up again when they get some more stock due 16th May...
Will this phone be for sale in Aberdeen as well?
What store? I will be in Aberdeen about few days, and leave again about 25. this month.
Is it possible to pre-buy, and pick it up at the store?
Any places that I could buy this phone?
I will arrive Aberdeen tomorrow morning and leave after 2 hour again.
Would like to "pay as go" or with free sim / no contract.
Thanks for any help

Does anyone actually know what the state of play is with Tmobile and the X1?
I have read on another forum that people have been told in stores that they are going to stock it, but tmobile people on the Forum say they are not going to stock it at all.
Anyone got any clues on this?
I spoke with T mobile regards this, and was advised that they would be stocking the X1 but that it'd be in a few months. This is due to, and i quote, "all recent sony touch screen phones have been crap" - i.e they will be quality testing the **** out of it (Maybe rebranding it/the software) before considering selling it to the consumer.
As a result, when my contract is due in 10 days, I'm not renewing.
Thanks Naffets. I really want to stay with T-Mobile this year due to the good customer service/back-end systems they have. But at the end of the day the first network to stock the X1 gets my money

I have rang o2 every day for the last two weeks. It was due in on 6th, then put back to wc 13th rang them today and they still have not recieved them yet. It is not their fault (aparantly) and they will be selling X1 as soon as it arrives which could be this week. If not wc 20th

UK:
Carphone Warehouse dont know when it's going to be in. They advised next couple of weeks.
Vodaphone had a Dummy Unit and were to busy for me to ask if they had any in stock before I left.
O2 dont really have a clue, salesman looked a bit dumb founded when I said Xperia. He said SE are having quite a few releases in the next 2 weeks to a month, so come back then.
Just dont know which to go for, Omnia (Free on T-Mobile @ £30/m for 18 Months, 700 Mins Unlimited Texts) or Xperia (Free on O2 @ £30/m for 24 Months 600 Mins and Unlimited Texts) ...
Xperia felt a lot smaller than expected and I didn't see too many issues with the D-Pad, but then it was the Dummy Unit. Omnia was obviously thinner but felt like a boat width ways. Hmm ...
CPW already have the X1, as do mobiles.co.uk and Vodafone.
I have a Vodafone X1 but I'm using my Tmob sim as I have a better contract with Tmob.

Which CPW you on about then? My 2 Local places both Didn't have them and didn't know an exact date when they'll be in ... ?
And yes Mobiles.co.uk do, but tried to order today only to find them Out of Stock.
I'm curious about something.
From the looks of it T-mobile will not be carrying the X1 instores for a while.
But how are companies like Expansys able to offer it for free or at reduced prices with T-mobile contracts?
And are those models unlocked or T-mobile branded?
Just curious as I've already ordered mine from Clove unlocked, but wanted to know how this system works.

They sell the unbranded version which they have bought at wholesale prices. They also sell you an airtime contract, for which they receive a commission from the provider. They use this commission to subsidise the sales price of the handset.

Fair Enough. i figured it might be something like this but nice to see some confirmation.
Was thinking of getting it on a contract, before I realised that I'm going to be spending over 6 Months travelling and didn't want to pay the price of a new expensive contract ehn I'm not going to be able to use it.
I have just come off the phone with O2 retentions and they have advised me that O2 WILL be supplying the Touch HD direct - or as they called it the XDA HD.
He could not give me any dates but just said it was definate.

Ye they do seem to be very slow in getting this handset. I wonder if part of it is that with it being billed as the "iphone Killer" they did not want to loose revenue from the iphone sales or if Apple made a clause in the contract to say that they wouldnt supply the HD for x amount of months??
Just guessing really.

At launch, the Touch HD was exclusive to Orange in the UK, just as the iphone is exclusive to O2 and the G1 to T-Mobile. That is why none of the other networks have been able to offer the phone. However long this exclusivity agreement lasts for is only known to Orange and HTC.
mobiles.co.uk and other businesses in the Carphone Warehouse group are buying SIM-free unlocked phones and bundling them with a seperate airtime contract.
Maybe the exclusivity agreement with Orange has ended and the HD is on its way, or maybe the retentions guy was misinformed or willing to say anything to keep you It will have nothing to do with the Apples contract, I doubt the HD was even thought of when the iphone was first launched.

It might be different on O2 but orange will not let you transfer a number from one contract to another, you can port it to another network with the PAC code or transfer it to pay as you go, that's it, worth checking!

o2-voda
Got mine in december from mobilephones.co.uk on Voda, free on 35/pcm with unlimted web. I wanted to stay woth 02 and was told a the time they woudl never get the hd as it a direct competitor to the iphone, they must have worked out that it wasnt a competitor at all.
Voda and 02 will be sharing networks soon so it wont really matter for me, once they contract it up I will be moving back to 02 if i can though as I can next get through to the bloody voda customer services, 02's customer service is second to none in my opinion, I always got through straight away no matter when i called. As was actually offerred a free 8 gig iphone at the time to stay, I kind wish I had taken it

EDIT: Seems like contract prices remain unchanged. Think I'll cancel my phone and just order sim-free at this new price!

*** UPDATE ***
I have just telephoned CPW and the lady I spoke to seemed very confused when I told her. She said that it was showing on my order status that the price was £429.99 so she didn't know why I was charged £549.95.
I was asked to go into a CPW store with a copy of my bank statement and email confirmation so they could arrange a refund. I said that this will inconvenience me as I can't get to a store between now and the New Year so I was asked to fax the information instead. Now I have got to wait 1-3 days for a response.
Anyone else telephoned them about this?

Phones4u just called me to say a SGS2 will be delivered to their shop in ten minutes.
Contract only though! Bugger.. the wait continues......

They didn't happen to have it on Three did they? I'm opting for the One Plan at £35 over 24m if possible!

I believe he said Vodaphone and Orange would be roughly £32.50-£35 with trade in; and 02 would be £37, I don't believe they had it on three.
As for buymobilephones I've just had an email back from them today regarding my query about processing incase anybody is interested. I suspect this will be same for most of the retailers online (mobiles.co.uk/dialaphone/buymobilephones) etc will probably all send out roughly the same time they told me:
Thanks for your email.
In regard to your query about your handset delivery, as the handset you have chosen has not yet been released by the manufacturer we are unable to process the order until this has arrived with ourselves. The handset is due to be released at the start of May and once this arrives with ourselves we will email you to confirm when this has been dispatched.
If you have any further queries please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
Alternatively, please visit our Help & Support pages for answers to all your queries.
Sincerely,
Emma
So if they have yet to receive the handset, yet phones4u already have them in stock, I wonder when they will receive there allocation. Perhaps retailers won't receive them until the latest date possible (Saturday/following Tuesday) to stop them being sold and sent out early.
It did tempt me to buy today from phones4u, but at an extra £5 a month, it just didn't tempt me enough, considering that's an extra £120 over the contract.
Anyway hope that helps anybody waiting to get there phones; I guess we wont get them until Thursday/Friday next week now.

I tried 3 different cpw stores today, 2 had stock but couldn't price match O2 payg as cow aren't offering the phone on payg yet and there was nothing the guy could do either as it wasn't on their system. I was told to try next week.
I read somewhere else on this forum that cpw will be dropping their sim free price to the £400 mark in the next week or so. The user claimed to work for cpw n last week correctly claim that they will introduce network price promise on 4th may.
So I'll prob jus wait n see what next week brings.

I walked into a CPW store on the Strand today and asked them about this. The person working there told me they would do the Network Price Promise for Pay As You Go, and that the phones sold would be unlocked and unbranded. So even if they don't drop the sim-free price, you have no obligation to keep paying to top up on O2 after buying the phone.
Holding out on the rumours that CPW might be dropping their sim-free price to around £400.
Dunno how much longer I can wait though

Did you take anything in with you to show them the PAYG O2 price?
called CPW sales team, said they won't price match as sim free price can't be matched with o2 PAYG price.

Seems like they should still price match even though O2 is locked

They will price match but only on like for like deals, and seeing as they do not have the phone available for O2 PAYG on their systems yet they cannot sell you the exact same deal and therefore they cannot price match for you.
So you'll have to wait until CPW start offering PAYG deals on the phone.
Although it looks like O2 have taken the PAYG price off their websites, in fact you can't buy if on PAYG from their website anymore, so I'm not too sure if O2 have that offer on anymore. might have to check instore.

Has anyone tried using the Network Price Promise from Carphone Warehouse to get pay as you go phones from them and comparing the price with o2?

try best buy. Same company less snobby. And their price match if they agree knocks off further 10%
