The following work for WM6, I don't know anything about android versions:
Transfer music: Hook up the phone to the computer and set it to be a storage device. Then open up Windows Media Player and sync your music.
Transfer apps: Hook up the phone to the computer and set it to be a storage device. Then copy the .cab files to the phone and use Total Commander: find the file and click to install.
You don't have to sync your PC to transfer files and applications to the phone. The computer does have to recognize the device as a USB storage device. If that is not happening there may be a problem with your USB port.
It is not the ROM; I am using NRG myself.

Hi im new to this forum, but it comes highly recommended.
Im having trouble accessing my files on the smartphone through my PC. I had the phone previously before i gt a new one and by going to the my mobile device folder in my computer i could access all the files on the phone when it was connected. Though now on the same phone bt everytime i try to access these files the window itself just closes. I am able to do everything else on the phone but to put mp3 I have to use windows media player and place it on the storage card.
I have tried everyhing from reseting the phone to its original status and upgrading the rom. Please can some one help me as I like to use this way to transfer films and videos to the phone and check other folders. Or if anyone knows of another way to transfer movie files and mp3s to the phone.

It does not seem like there is something wrong with your phone but with your desktop! Try to delete the partnership in ActiveSync.
If you have the know-how you also might remove the drivers for your mobile device manually on your desktop.
uninstall ActiveSync completely and then reinstall (maybe the latest version???)
At least I would try that first ...
How would I remove the drivers from my mobile device manually on the desktop.
I have already unistalled the active sync and downloaded the latest version but i'll try it again.
Thankyou
What phone do you have, what version of ActiveSync do you use, and how do you connect to your PC (USB or BT)?
I have an O2 xda mini, I connect via usb and I have version 4.5 of active sync.
Did you delete the partnership yet? After deleting the partnership, can you connect as a guest and then access your phone via Windows explorer?
I just deleted the partnership and tried going through windows explorer. Once I click on mobile device and go into the folder. The same thing happens as when there is a partnership. I click to go into a folder (any folder) and the windows explorer crashes and the error report comes up asking me to debug or send error report. This is a constant thing no matter what i try
Do you have access to another computer? If so, try using that one. If you don't have any problems, then the problem lies in your computer. I recommend getting a registry cleaner to scan and repair any registry errors.
Hi,
the Display of my HD is broken and I but can start the device, but can not handle it.
So I Can Not backup my Contacts from the Device to my Computer, because of the system password which is necessary to start Windows Mobile 6.1
It is possible to start the HD in a 'Safe Mode' like Windows to backup all Files from the HDD of my device to my computer (without 'active sync')?
At the moment when I connect the HD to my computer via USB the device is identified as an extern HDD.
Thanks for your help!

Erm i think you'd need to have active-sync connection to be able to do anything like that. Otherwise you'll just have to wait for new lcd and repair it.
EDIT: Have you not got them stored on SIM card to use in other phone?

Unfortunately not.
All contacts are in the device memory.
How do the professionals in the repaircenter backup my data before they repair/open the device?
They don't.
Download http://www.mymobiler.com/ and see if you can control your device from your pc.

Yeah i was thinkin along them lines, but then you'd need bluetooth to be on and visible, maybe he hasn't as its a battery waste to leave it on.
Mmm you don't need to put in your startup password for Activesync to work.
So maybe the problem is with his usb connection if all he can see is the phone as a hdd.
r
Andrew
Problem is that i selected to use the device as hdd last time i connected with usb.
When i start the handy i hear the boot-sound, but i cant see anything.
So i need a option to skip the system password or start the handy via USB like a Bootloader or something else and copy all files from device to my pc.
Did you try http://www.mymobiler.com/ anyway ?

Andrew
I installed My Mobiler on my Computer and startet it.
Connected my HD to my Computer and the Computer detected the HD as extern HDD.
My Mobile on my Computer didnt recognize my HD.
MyMobile>Connect: Your Mobile may not be connected or ActiveSync connection is busy now. If the problem persists, please restart 'MyMobiler'
MyMobile>Configure Mobile>Install: PLease wait...Reinstalling MyMobiler on your mobile...... Unable to install....
Seems i can not skip my password.
I would delete and reinstall activesync and try again.

(don't give up)
i have windows 7 and no active sync running.
same problem unter windows vista.
So you are using Mobile device centre ?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-synch.mspx
Problem is i selected "use hd as extern hdd" and not activesync last time i connected via USB.
So on the one hand when i connect hd to computer its everytime detected as hdd because i cant use the touchscreen to selected the other option('activesync')
one the other hand i have to unlock via password the activesync connection if i could build up it.

yes indeed
Well I use XP and activesync.
Question - Has your phone worked previously syncing with Windows Mobile Device Centre ok ?
yes latest sync is from june 2009
Well I hope someone with your operating system reads this and can help more.
All I know is with Windows 7 and Vista you have to ensure your firewall settings allow the connection and some AV programmes can interfere - hope this helps.

just an advice for everybody.
make a backup every once in a while.
i for example i use Microsoft MyPhone and even if my HD or my sim card gets torched or kidnapped i will still be able to acces my contacts, photos, documents, sms etc. on the myphone webpage.
realy cool right?
so if you did use MyPhone then you can see your contacts.
good luck.
I think I've just thought of a solution for you...
Windows Mobile uses the "2577" directory, if it exists, in the root of your SD card to autorun installation scripts from. When I disconnect my HD from my PC in USB storage mode, the 2577 directory is read and installation files are executed.
It may be possible to run a mortscript or a cab file from there that will either back up your PIM data, or change the USB function back to Activesync - probably the latter is easier as I'm guessing it would just be a reg key that needs changing.
guys how do I downgrade from 6.5 to 6.1? 6.5 It locks the Always use the camera does not make me ... when I connect the phone via usb coming out of my window into the 'bottom right corner that tells me that he found the hardware "HTC Magician," but not me active sync detects it and if I go to active sync on my phone tells me: "to Synchronize your device with a desktop computer, install the synchronization software from the Getting Started Disc included with your device on your PC.
If you company supports syncring directly with its Exchange Server you can set up your device to sync with it.
Learn more about synchronizing with a server "
What can I do?
excuse me for my pronunciaiton but i'm italian XD
Just install the 6.1 rom like you've done with 6.5
i've read this totuorial to flashing from sd, but
# download the 1.13BS rom or any other BIG Storage rom-image from the ftp
# get ntrw.exe from the ftp
# Download romupdate from the ftp
# Download the Hexeditor from the ftp
what is ftp?
Here is the xda-developers ftp-link:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Magician/Tools/Backup_tools1/
There are the programms you need.
EDIT:
Before you try to flash from your SD-Card, flash from your PC. If you need active sync connection, try active sync 4.5.
see a warning box that says:
Avviso
530 permission denied
What does this mean?
Sorry, wrong link,
try this:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Tools/Backup_tools1/
and where i can take this?
the 1.13BS rom or any other BIG Storage rom-image
thank you ^^

I installed but my comp can sync nor find the driver.
You can download HTC Sync from the HTC website.
Visit the HTC website and klick on 'support'. Choose a product: any android phone e.g. htc desire s. Tab 'downloads'. There will be only one download. Download this and install

HTC HD2 sync problem
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I downloaded HTC sync but it does'nt sync my phone with PC. Of course you cannot use Activesync when you are using android as a core OS in your phone.
I want to flash my current rom that is CM7 android [2.3.4] typhonn v3.3.2 nightly.
(Using this rom i had alot of problems like Process stopped unexpectedly.) So i decided to flash rom but i can't, When i run radio flash Customruu.exe it say;
Error[202] connection, I used all proper methods, Power off phone, hold VOL down key entered into striped color window & connected USB with the device & pc. In the white screen it turned from serial to USB & after doing flash with customruu.exe always this error pops up & Pisses me off!
If there is any expert please help!!!

Hi,
It's not about USING ActiveSync to sync your phone.
ActiveSync contains the drivers used to connect phone to pc/laptop.
Same thing with WMDC.
So,all I'm saying is that ActiveSync or WMDC should be "installed" ,then the connection should be possible.
install droid explorer, it installs the driver needet
