Can't play videos anymore

Hey
I'm using the Virtuous Xoom v. 1.1.2 ROM on my A500, and all of the sudden I can't play videos any more. The gallery just dims down when I press a movie. I've tried rebooting multiple times without any results.
I'd really rather not have to reset the device.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: All I had to do was change the UI language, and then it worked again. Odd.
Thanks.
You might get more luck posting this in the ROM thread instead of a500 general. Since you've modded your tablet, that no longer qualifies as an Acer issue it's now a ROM issue.
Hopefully someone will come along with better advice.

Thanks, I'll try that!
Just a thought.. were you using moboplayer?
I was on a trip and my 3yo was watching videos on my tab when the videos just went black but audio still worked fine. Everying else on the tablet worked fine, but when I tried to play a video, the screen would go off.
Later I discovered, she had turned the brightness all the way down by sliding her finger down the left side of the screen while the video was playing. And this only affected videos, not the whole tablet.
No, I was just using the default video player

[Q] SplashTop HD Problems

Is anyone getting the crash problems with Splashtop HD? I googled the error and found that 3.2 with it's weird DHCP problem sucks and needs Static, but i changed my setting to static, and im still having crashing when im having -anything- of fair performance on my desktop up.
What im trying to do is use it to play Atlantica online, which of course, i've seen people playing Rift through their Iconia's on youtube, so Altantica, far less graphical should be no problem.
Right now im using the 3.2 CFW update that someone put out to preserve my root, i am also on Thor's 3.4 the rest Kernal, BUT i think im going to change it up to Richardtrip's.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Edit: Also, whenever i try to browse to other computers on my home network. (Have a computer that holds our movies and such) It crashes as well.
Edit: Problem seemed to have fixed it'self over..dunno, kind of strange. Anyway, mods feel free to remove this post.

[Q] Audio Sync Issues

hi im new here (and to the whole android thing)
my kindle fire has some serious audio syncing issues (i.e. in ALL games sound effects are played to late) and i dont seem the only one as google told me.
so i decided to try the CM7 to see if that fixes my issues, it does not.
is that a problem i have to live with? can i do something about it? what causes it?
thanks in advance for your help!
I have that issue too. I can't even normally play in rythm-game Osu! cuz audio sync is not correct
on all firmwares.
as i cant post in the other thread, will i have audio with latest cm9 rom? like JackpotClavin110112.zip
edit: well i do, but not in game
no.. Audio and Video not supported now.

As the previous poster has stated, ICS in it's current form has audio issues. It would be helpful to know which ROMs are you having the issue on? (ie. Amazon stock rom, CM7, ICS). If you're having the issue on all of them, especially with the stock rom it may potentially be a local hardware issue unless everyone else on the stock rom is having the same problem....
issues are with stock rom and with any other 2.3.x based rom i have tried.
other seem to have this issue too (and even contacted) amazon which promised to fix this issue with the latest update but didnt.
i also found game developer posts stating this is an android 2.3.x issue.
promised to fix and didn't? amazon.....
Seems to be a rather odd situation. Your kindle fire with stock firmware is having audio issues while the majority of other kindle fire's do not..
I don't know what type of media is presenting the issue, but it if works perfectly in another Kindle fire with the same exact software, then I can only conclude it's a hardware issue specific your device (and some others). Might we worth a shot to have them replace the device..
i guess it happens to all kindles, maybe not all users have noticed
please take a look at this video, you can see the problem at the very beginning
(as im new i cant link to sites, its on youtube /watch?v=U6MaGr4FCN8)
it shows angry birds as first games, see when the bird is pulled back an when the sound effect for it plays. see when the bird is launched and when the sfx plays, see when the bird hits the target and when the sfx plays.
some with every other game i have tried. on every rom i have tried.
this cant be an hardware issue can it?
The only time I have audio sync issues on the stock rom is with Netflix.
I am using ics right now and have no sound sync issues when the sound works lol.
Also, hats off to jackpotclavin, hashcode, hewhohas and everyone else that is working on ics.
Btw this was typed on my fire with ics.

Bad resolution

Hey guys
I just got my nexus player about an hour ago and straight away tried to cast some TV shows to it but apon this I discovered the resolution for whatever reason really really sucks even though it should be in 1080p.
It's all pixelated when people/characters move there's distortion around them too anyone have any idea why this is?
EDIT: Same happens even with files directly downloaded onto the nexus player :S
No one able to help at all?
I havent tried casting anything yet. I will try tonight when I get home. What are you casting and from where, phone, tablet, pc? What application are you using to cast? Ill try and mimic your setup and see what the results are. On another note I did notice the screen getting better on youtube and what not when I changed the settings for my display from auto to 1080p 60mhz. Have you checked your display settings in your options?

Help Downgrading 2015 STD model from new 5.1 back to 3.3

The new 5.1 release is fundamentally flawed and does not allow apps to set resolution or refresh rates, plus suffers from HDMI blanking/disconnects when set @ 4k resolutions. None of these problems are present in the previous 3.3 version, and I need to switch back. Unfortunately every time I have tried to go back to the previous official firmware from nvidia, I just get blank screen/no signal. So I am stuck on 5.1.
I suspect this has something to do with the partition sizes/layouts, or some other 1 way change which is preventing the older firmware from booting. Has anyone got any ideas how this downgrade can be achieved?
Thanks in advance
I don't think that is possible. Unless you want to brick your Device.
Well that's what happened when I tried it. Thankfully... (Or, not) I have the Pro version so finding a working SSHD backup image was simple enough. But, I don't think you'd be nearly so lucky with just a non-removable 16Gb eMMC Chip.
I also tried it, from Nougat 5.1 to Marshmallow 3.2 and to Marshmallow 3.3.
Unfortunately, this is not working. Fortunately, fastboot is still accessible and I can get it back to Nougat (I've done it several times, the only time I add a problem, it was because of a suddenly faulty USB OTG cable).
That's unfortunate, because now that I'm on Nougat, I can't managed to find a functionnal version of Skype with my Logitech C920 or C930e webcam (while I had it on Marshmallow, with StockRestyle by @zulu99). I tried both with the standard version and with full android (see this post for more details on Skype on the standard Nougat ROM).
Oh well. At least I know I'm not doing anything wrong when I try and downgrade. I'll just have to stick with 5.1 and hope they resolve the ability for apps to set refresh/resolution.
TBH I'm a little perplexed how it got passed testing @ nvidia. Changing refresh rates to match content source is common video playback functionality, and resolves many jerky playback issues.
Thanks for the input!

Ah, I thought I was the only one with jerky video playback. Let's hope Nvidia resolves it in a future update soon!
