What app do you recommend to improve battery life. And what are the best settings other than turn bt, wifi and 3g off and decrease brightness, and wipe battery stats? A good app i can recommend is screen filter

i got an unmodded and locked TMOUS hd2. i'm new to modding. is it possible to remove any unnecessary background daemons or services in order to save battery life? if so, how?
All you need to do is disable them - or try a custom rom there are minimal roms out there for you. They have great battery life and speed.
If however your battery life is the issue, just disable BT, 3G, internet and reduce your screen time to a minimum, that will have a big effect on the battery

you said i can disable the services or background daemons. but how do i do this?
Just want to share my setup to improve your phone battery life.
Im using [ROM] FroyoBread.
I install Undervolt module.
I use setcpu and create profile. Screen off>Max cpu 320>Min cpu 120>Priority 90>conservative
Im using Fast Reboot not Advance Task Killer
lowest brightness, no animation, 30 sec screen off, disable (wifi, bluetooth, background sync, vibration), 2g network only
you will be more informed if you visit this site [FIX] Drain Battery Fix for CyanogenMod
(Fast Reboot vs Advance Task Killer)
Now this is what i get. With modetare to heavy SMS, minor phone call, minor gaming, minor to moderate listening music. I been using my phone for 3 straight days and still have 4% remaining.
Note: I don't have wifi in my house so i don't know what will be the result of my phone battery life.
Thanks to Dare-Devil Inside for his tips and doixanh for his great module and rom. I hope this will help to improve your phone battery life.
P.S. sorry for my english if you think its bad.
Ok i do like u said i will check how it works

battery life is key to smart phones.
Here are some tips when not using it:
Turn GPS off
Turn wifi off
Turn Bluetooth off
Turn Mobile Network off
hope that helps. It is not only battery-saving, but also keeps you away from radiation.
old skul.....
...its simple... no live wallpapers and no apps runing.
so what i can i to maximize battery life? i've turned off gps, turned off wifi when i'm not using, turned off mobile data, lower brightness when i can.

Did you obtain root? If you did not, then there is not much else you can do. The only thing left is juice defender. While it does prolong battery life, most people have found that it causes more problems along the line.
if you do have root, then you can flash customer kernel, which helps battery life a lot.
Franco Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002782
very popular around here, but I found it unsatisfying.
Trinity Kernel http://forums.derkernel.com/index.php/topic,47.0.html
also very popular
disable google latitude in google maps. automatic reporting of location.
I have a problem with my galaxy s4 battery life. When im using mobile data or wifi my battery life decrease by 1% every 2-3 mins.
I also did *#0228# and accidentally pressed quick start and my battery life decreased from 50% to 19%
Power saving mode is on, location services is off, brightness is at lowest, nfc, gps, bt, and wifi are off. Auto sync and smart features are also off.
Any battery saving tips? Or should i bring my unit at the service center? TIA

So, I'm seeing a lot of battery drain from voice calls, WiFi on and deep sleep. I've been trying to change some setting to help reduce this, but I don't want to cause issues. Can someone let me know if the following will help or cause issues.
I've set tasked to turn off data when any phone call is in process, because I don't multitask and use data durning calls. I have also set tasker to turn off data when connected to WiFi, although this may not be needed. I was considering turning off WiFi during sleep, but this may cause more battery consumption due to data and searching for signal. Also, what can I do to reduce power consumption during deep sleep.

When your phone is in deep sleep, your phone's battery level stays flat. Simply, this means no power is being consumed. Another way of putting it is that deep sleep DOES NOT drain battery power (maybe just a bit after hours and hours in standby mode).
According to those stats, it doesn't seem like anything is out of place. The phone was on for 5hrs and 37mins, it was awake (assuming you were using the phone during that time) for 2hrs 13mins. It was on deep sleep for 3 hrs and 23mins. Wifi was on for nearly 5hrs.
The best advice I can give you is root your device, install twrp and flash a custom kernel. (If you haven't already.)
OK, I've just started using better battery stats so maybe I'm not understanding the info correctly I thought from the pic above that a majority of battery consumption was from WiFi and deep sleep, but when I look at the battery stats in settings that's not the case.
Ok, if I look at the updated info below it seems that my battery consumption is mainly the screen on time. Right now my screen is set to auto brightness. Does this seem like an appropriate consumption?

Oh and I've been running a custom ROM and kernel since my 1st day owning this phone.
Currently on 4.4 Purity ROM, semaphore 1.8.0 kernel. With davlik optimization.

-5%/h battery consumption. Totally ok.

I have heard that google services drain battery fast, so have you tried to set the location to either "battery saving" or "device only" mode in Location? In addition, if you do not use Google+, try to either uninstall or disable it. After you have done those steps, go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache then reboot phone.

Yep. Kill the Google services if not needed. Futhermore deactivate every HW device which is also not needed at the specific moment (GPS, BT, ...) ... the Battery Stats Plus will give you even more hints.
