Is their anyway to make the Xoom speakers louder?

Don't think so. You can always prop it up against a solid object which makes it seem a lot louder

App called louder volume hack.. works great.

Ty for the info and I went to check out the app in the market and the price seems cheap if it works but I really didnt wanna root my xoom unless i had to...can you confirm it works bc if it works good I may just root my Xoom.

I think it's loud enough tbh, any louder might blow out the speaker. You can always hook up external speakers or get the HD Docking station which comes with built in speakers (if I'm not mistaken)

Try equalizer its free and its a equalizer

I cup my hands around them and force the sound to bounce back to me. Or since i have the zoogue case, I fold the cover completely back.

volume hack does work, but it also makes it Very LOUD...but its adjustable.like hitting the "loud" button on your car stereo..i can see if you set it too high, possibly blowing a speaker...had it on my Hero, and now on my dINC...i just set volume in settings to a loud level so when i have it up all the way, its still not at MAX...like setting an amp<gain> with a sub<if u understand that better>

Headphone VOLUME SUCKS!!!

ok.. please someone tell me there is a hack or something..
I bought this phone to replace all my gadgets I use for my bike. MP3 player, Cycle computer, heart monitor.
I had knee surgery and just now being able to do some small bike riding again..
I loaded up my songs and played them through my S9 headset (blue tooth)
WTF, at max volume its not going to work with a 20mph head wind.. Let alone, just relaxing outside with no wind, max volume seems to be decent, but far from loud.
Then I tried my dads Jabra bluetooth headphones. .Same thing.
Then I tried Skull candy plug in headphones, no change.
I finally plugged it into my friends Iphone, and holy #@#$ at 3/4 volume it plenty loud let alone full blast.
I read on another forum that there might be a hackfor this.. I know there are a couple audio hacks but I think it might only be for the external speaker, and I don't really want to do that..
So tell, please there is a way, other wise well.... it would suck marjory
Could be your files are too soft.
All I can tell you is that plugged in using my Skullcandy FMJ's or Koss insulating buds, I can't go above 3/4 volume without getting ringing in my ears. Full volume on my RF-MAB2's is fairly loud, though admittedly they don't insulate against ambient sound well (nor do they focus audio down the ear canal properly...).
I'm guessing you're using a Stock ROM, right? Try out CyanogenMod 6.1.2. It's got a better Bluetooth stack (for your BT headphones), better music player, and even a DSP manager.

Im using Fresh 3.5 rom.
Not stock..
its pretty obvious when I compare it to an Iphone that the EVO is extremely weak in this department.. I love this phone, I would even call it an Iphone killer. but I would get rid of it, if it can't do something simple like play music through headphones.. (at level beyond decent)

Fresh is a stock-based ROM. Therefore it has all of the Stock ROM's disadvantages; crappy software, bad bluetooth stack, poor audio drivers, etc.

The iPhone also has iTunes automatically adjust the volume of files to be normalized, and rather than edit the files directly, transfers that adjustment as part of the meta-data which the iPhone in turn reads and uses. The EVO does not have this advantage. Again, try CM 6.1.2 and play with the DSP Manager. You'll be surprised.

I mean come on, is this what it has to come down to?

Can someone give me a quick instruction on how to mess with my music files to make them louder again.. I remember doing this way back in the day, I can adjust things with the actual file themselves..

the "hack" is CM with dsp manager.
p.s. are you plugging the wired headphones all the way in? i ask because i do a little bit of cycling and use cheapo wal-mart ear buds and still run about 75% volume.
p.p.s. maybe you're going deaf?

CyanogenMod does have WiMax (kinda, it's in an alpha build, which also boosts the speed on your 3G). And as for Sense, hell no. Sense is a bloated POS smacked on Android.
As for the music file audio, look up dBpoweramp. It has the ability to do so in batch. But like the other posters in this thread, I think that either you're going deaf, you're not connected all the way, or there's some sort of hardware/wetware issue going on.
seems like you might have an issue with your phone or you have an issue with your rom, i'd try flashing a different rom before anything else.
I have the s9-hd's and don't turn them all the way up and they sound great . I also have various headphones and never turn them all the way up either.
You guys obviously don't ride..its a very common issue..I'm not going deaf..its called 20 mph head wind or more average..search on this forum for volume as the topic, you will see pages of the same issue..a real shame is all I gotta say.. That's 2for the iphone

Hey I cycle too and never really found a cure to the head wind trying all kinds of styles of headphones (even the big over the ear dj headphones), don't blame the phone, cause its obviously a headphones issue. And I too agree you may be going deaf cause I never have to turn my headphones all the way up, I find myself constantly turning them down. Power Amp has a pre amp feature that can really crank up the volume if its ever needed. Also try looking for some insulated ear buds like these: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDREX36V...1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295127403&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Wow he wasn't bashing the Evo. I did a comparison too and the Iphone does have louder sounds. It was already stated that's because Itunes does some magical **** to your music for you. Other than migrating to CM (Believe it or not but some people dont mind Sense @ all especially when using mikofroyo) you can use poweramp which does have an equalizer and it will boost the sound. Just make sure you got good headphones to handle the boost because it blew my walmart pair.Or you can find a prog that will do some magical **** to your music files like Itunes.

FAR from deaf.. Actually had a huge ear test during my interview with being a 911, dispatcher.. And you need to have perfect hearing.. WHICH IS DO..
I figured it out..
And the fact still remains, for the person saying "Im bashing your precious EVO, WHICH I LOVE AND OWN TOO"
THE IPHONE IS MUCH MUCH LOUDER, HANDS DOWN FACT!! Don't like it? Maybe you should return your phone then..
I took all my music files and used a program called mp3gain (Free) and brought all files to 100DB's
Which doens't distort the sound. I also wanted to tell you phatmanxxl, those headphones you linked are wired.. My EVo is mounted on my bike, so I need bluetooth headphones..
in anycase I use A pair of Jabra BT620 head phones.. They are a bigger style but finally PLENTY LOUD.. Actually only keep it at about 70% volume or so..

Lol you can't say the iphone is louder. You would have to test that with the SAME music files, and have the volume normalization off as you import the files into itunes. Also for a rom that has the audio built in thats sense, look here:

It also has the dsp manager, and 4g and everything.

music volume really sucks!

I use poweramp for music and on headphones the volume really sucks. Its low and distorted. I have tried volume + but it is still real low. My samsung vibrant sounds great. Am i expecting too much from the transformer? Im on 3.1 if that means anything.
maybe worth trying a different headphone... mine works pretty well with the stock player..
I did not want to open a new thread but the sound on mine is really low too and just yesterday the was no sound on the right speaker, is there a fix or should i return it.
Thanks

I love my TF but as a sound device it just really blows.

DSP manager really improved the quality of the sound coming out. I was using some big driver earphones that would deafen you out of most devices so volume wasnt an issue, just lack of bass.

Yes, stock kernel. Have no access to another TF.
Too loud for you? Man, are you over 50/60? J/K, my 50 year old GF always thinks my sound is too loud but I have above normal hearing and can hear a pin drop across the highway. So when I say the TF sound is low, its really low. And it sounds like ass too. I don;t know why they hype SRS speakers unless SRS means Sounds Really ****ty in Asus' kingdom. I am in the process of searching to a replacement HW dac for this as it is really bad. The built-ins are ok for built-ins but the HP jack should have much better sound with any headphone I put in. My cell phone sounds 100 times better and at least 4x louder than the TF.
Try grabbing someone else's TF and compare its performance with yours; it may have a defective socket. My first one had this horrible distorting sound from its headphone-out, turns out to be a hardware issue. My second one works well, and actually sounds nice - how does Zune HD-like sound quality and volume sound to you?
Headphone amp on the transformer is actually awesome. It's the same one on the Galaxy S. It just needs a better driver. Try Voodoo Control App Plus by Supercurio in the Market. I have it but it requires root so I haven't used it yet. On my Samsung Fascinate, it makes my in ear monitors louder than I can handle.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I just bought mine last week and headphone output sounds great. The speakers are not the loudest but the sound sharp and clear. Sounds like a hardware issue.

Ok, latest update: Last night I was playing with the TF and using PowerAmp and playing the same mp3 file on both the TF and my Vibrant (Comfortable Numb BTW) and using same EQ settings, my phone was at least 200% louder than my TF using max volume and same headphones. I got pissed off at the TF and ripped out the jack and slammed it back in a few times.......well guess what, the TF volume went up about 50% more. Wondering if it was a loose solder connection or something. So, music is tolerable on my TF now, but it is still low compared to my other androidesque devices.

Increase audio volume?

Is there a way to hack the device to make the audio louder? It's fine right now, but it's no where near as loud as my gtab. I want to be able to hear the other person on skype and gtalk just as loud and clear as my gtab.
i have the exact same issue, no matter the rom im on. the stock one seemed the loudest, but not by a lot. i think it would have to be kernel specific though, but i'm probably wrong
The gtab cost me a hell of a lot less than the iconia and the transformer. And yet, it's got the loudest mouth. Why?

Don't get me wrong. My volume's fine. What I want to know is how I can hack it to make it louder. My gtab, which costs significantly less than the transformer and the iconia, is the loudest. And it's not just a little louder. It's a lot louder. When I skype with both my friends with the gtab, I can just put it on the kitchen table and walk around in the kitchen and still be able to talk and hear comfortably. I can't do that with either the transformer or the iconia.
I don't know if I described it correctly so I'm going to go to staples and play with one of theirs. The could just be crappy speakers that I'm not used to. I can still return it if that's the case hope they have some stock.
I would appreciate some software ways that make louder also since some movies are faint. Even with headphones on
Had the same problem a good while back. Rooted, installed one Civs roms and job done. Even more boom per buck on his latest over on the dev section.

Low Volume

Does anyone else think that the max volume on the Nexus 7 is way too low?
I don't mind using ear buds to watch a movie, but I don't want to have to search for my ear buds and then put them in every time I want to watch a short YouTube video or other media.
Anyone know of a fix? Perhaps an app that can boost volume, even a little bit.

With the speaker in the back, yeah it's pretty quiet. When i'm listening to music in portrait mode, i flip it upside down (with the camera on the bottom). I find it's much louder, and better sounding.
After hooking up my gamescon headphones i much prefer them. The sound quality is amazing. Great for music and movies.

My volume is fairly loud for an external speaker on a tablet. I am surprised how loud mine is after reading posts saying its too low. My headphone volume is also loud while other people say theirs is low. Don't know what the difference is among all these units. But for your question. I can increase the perceived loudness by placing my tablet in a case with a solid back that has about 3mm spacing or gap between the tablet and the back (Used this method for another tablet I had). The back reflects the sound back towards you and makes the sound perceive louder. Cupping your hand over the speaker while holding it in landscape also works. Again, reflecting all the sound towards you instead of away from you. I find the volume apps don't really work for me and distorts the sounds.
I was cupping my hand behind the speaker and it still was too soft for me. But then I put my hand flat against the speaker and the volume increased significantly. I expected that would have muffled the sound further but not so. I then placed it flat up against a wall and the sound is great. I also tried laying it flat on my desk and got the same results. It seems that the sound bounces best when a hard surface is directly touching the back of the N7. I wonder how a case will affect it.

I love the N7. My only gripe is that the headphone volume sucks. Way too low. The speaker volume is also too quiet but that's not something I use too often, so I can live with that. The headphones however, if the unit wasn't so great in all other respects, this would be a showstopper.
I don't see anything in the description that says Volume+ works with the N7/Jelly Bean. Also, the latest user comment as of yesterday, says that is does NOT work with Jelly Bean.
I tried the free version but that didn't so anything noticeable so I'm holding off until the developer signs off on the N7.
In the meantime, I thought of trying bluetooth headphone. As they are powered, I'm hoping that I can get a volume boost that way. Anyone got some input on this idea?

I have Jays One+ for a while and are great! Yesterday I have also bought SGS4, and I have to say - the sound is stunning! I'm using PowerAmp Pro and I had to adjust the sound just only a bit. Before that, with HTC Desire, it required more work to get the sound right for me.
Unfortunately, the Jays' App is useless - Android captures the long button press and can't be used to adjusting the volume. Nevertheless one, double and triple press work great! (at least on Desire, but AFAIK it is Android > 4 feature)
Another annoying think is the cord shape and sound it makes when you walk... this scratchy sound can be heard during music play. You need to set the cord, i.e. under the clothes, so it doesn't make noise.
I hope you'll like it anyway!
I've had them for a while. Awesome sound quality

I had the One for a while (not the +), fantastic sounding piece of kit. I got them while I had my Galaxy S with Voodoo Sound, and as I mostly listen to music with a lot of bass, these absolutely killed it, phenomenally deep and clear bass.
I might just get the One+ (the One died at the jack ).
