Hello all.... can i get some assistance please???
ROM Manager should make your life a little easier.
Install ROM Manager, start it up, make sure that you RTFM.
To save yourself from making unrecoverable mistakes, search the forum for "nandroid backup" and do one before you start messing about with updating your ROM. You might want to investigate Titanium Backup so that your installed programs and data can be reloaded after a wipe.
Or:
Download 7.0.3, like you probably downloaded your nightly build, and flash it on CWR (ClockWork Recovery).
You'll probably need to convert your Gen (I had to), for that I used a thing called CM7 Universal Converter, worked for me, should work for you. Download it, put it into your SD card (like CM) and then install CM and after CM install the converter.

Just installed "CyanogenMod-7 for ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) :: V7.0.0-RC4 (30/03/2011)"
Firstly, many thanks for making this great rom. Instructions very easy to follow, even I could do it (my first smart phone, only had it 5 days so yes, it’s all very new to me).
Anyway, can someone please help me? On my old Orange rom, when sending a text (which is what I do a lot of) my “send to many logo” is missing from the CM7 rom (see pics). How can I get this back? It's driving me nut!

Rebooting and Battery usage
My zte with CM7 seems to use alot more battery than the original ROM i had. anyone else?
It will also reboot when the battery is lower than 30%. anybody know why?
The current CM7 rom is faulty, don't flash it....i'm also waiting for a more stable one. This rom is not so reactive to accelerometer so if you play games such as doodlejump, it won't work so don't flash the rom, instead you can flash this froyo, it's quite fast as well ! FLB froyo R11
Gen2
Hi All
Just flashed my Blade to Gen 2 yesterday and installed CM7 Gen2 .
On previous CM7 Final Gen 1, I had reboots and freezing on boot screen but
have had no issues since the new installation. Plays games very well.

Edit: Just upgraded CM7 to 7.0.2 and on reboot phone was stuck on boot screen and had no arrow
to swipe nor would menu button work other than to put phone in standby. Had to uses stock recovery to get cm7 to load and now
cannot get beyond the the Droid screen when trying to restore/backup. Will not enter clockwork recovery no matter what I try.
Can load CM7 basic but no google apps and unable to load gapps because I cannot enter clockwork recovery. Can any suggest a way out.
Use rom manager to install the latest clockwork mod
Sent from my Blade using XDA Premium App
So what's best for now: staying Gen 1 with CM7 v7.0.0 or turning into Gen2 and get v7.0.2 ?

HI
Thanks for the reply but I have tried to download the latest ClockworkMod via Rom Manager and the same thing happens it tries to update and then freezes
on the droid screen. I can't get to the market as I cannot load gapps because
of the lack of ClockworkMod recovery. Catch 22 time. Any other suggestions greatly received.

Hi HCDR.Jacob
Me again. Have just found out why I cannot load ClockworkMod Recovery or any other recovery. Ran Androot 1.6 andgot reply, when I tried to unroot - Not Rooted.
So I ran Androot and got the following "Rooted - No - Fu - Goo". Yet Balde is running CM7 . Question is now how do I root the blooming thing or is that a no go?
Please advise.

Hi
Thanks for that but info garnered no where near to solving prob. Managed to find z4Root and ran that and it informs me I am still rooted. Problem is that I cannot access ClockworkMod Recovery and rom manager is stuck on 3.0.2.0 and will not upgrade to 4.2.0.0 which is the latest as far as I can ascertain. Do you know of any way to get ClockworkMod back onto my Blade so that I cam upgrade CM to 7.0.2 and get google apps back.

I just upgraded my ZTE Blade to 7.0.2 using the latest Rom Manager (from 7 RC3) ... now my Blade just keeps booting only showing the Droid Logo for about 4 secs and that loops forever. I wasn't aware of any Gen1 vs. Gen2 thing. And am still not sure what this exactly is.
Is there anyway to fix this, or is the device bricked?
Any ideas? Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated!
Thx.

Just gave you a possible tweak on your thread but please don't just splash your problem onto the other threads, as this is most likely to create confusion. If somebody can help you, he will answer you in the right thread: the one you opened.
Also a first look at similar topic or a quick search would have avoided this kind of situation. Even the first guide for flashing a custom ROM on the OSF clearly states a warning on the Gen1/Gen2 thing...

Didn't know about the site and wasn't aware of the Gen1/Gen2 issue.
I wanted to show a friend (iPhone owner) how easy it is to update the firmware using ROM Manager over a beer and simple downloaded CM7.0.2 using ROM Manager, not being aware of any Gen1/Gen2 issues...

I've installed this ROM (CM7.02Nightly57 + CWM 3.0.2.7) yesterday, but having some troubles:
- the battery is duying very fast
- the pulldown menu can not be pulled up easy in normal mode. When in landcape it works nice, but when in portrait, it is stuck in the bottom, and you can pull it up after several times, or have to press back button
anyone has issues like this?

Autonomy issues have already been widely reported for 7.0.2, most people I have read from went back on CM7.0 stable because of that.
For the menu, this might be a new issue. Perhaps check on CM7 forum to see if it has been reported yet and whether a fix has been found yet.

You cant flash recoveries the standard way, and you cant use rom manager with the play atm, i think the cm7 kernel comes with a custom recovery though

Hi,
I've successfully modded my MS2 yesterday using (walter's?) "ms2ginger-rc2". It's been quite easy - I expected it to be much more difficult.
Unfortunately it's impossible to add accounts (app crashs). Therefore I plan to roll back to the sysbackup Imade before with Clockworkmod and to re-mod it with a newer/ better/ more stable variant.
Can you suggest one that you are happy with? I am fine with Blur - it can be included.
Anything to keep in mind for the rollback? Just revert to the backup via the bootloader?

Meszi.

i have tried CM7 and was before using it on BackFlip, but on Milestone 2 i am really loving MIUI its great ROM.
The problem is as i saw no one who is maintaining these CM7 or MIUI rom is not Dev, so i kinda think Milestone 2 can perform better with some optimalisation for it. The reason is as far as Stock Froyo was slow, CM7 and MIUI did not show kinda speed progress or increase i guess it is performing same as stock ROM or maybe little but only little better, on BackFlip there was really dramatic speed change on CM7 but the dev around BF was more active then on Milestone and i am happy with what we have already.
As far as I know, the MIUI is the latest one. But that's just because endles7's ( the guy who is porting CM7 to M2) phone is bricked at the moment.
Both, CM7 and MIUI are great ROMs, but, at least for now, if you're looking for the newest one, then MIUI is the one for.
I believe that CM7 will be supported again soon, there is a movement on the forum to buy endles7 a new one if his is really bricked forever.
I'm using MIUI because o like the interface better.
Hope it helped =)
Upgraded to "ms2ginger 1.1" but still problems with accounts management
Hi,
I reverted to Froyo, reloaded the backup I had done with Clockworkmod, made an app backup using Titanium and re-modded the device to "ms2ginger 1.1". But still there is the same issue with accounts ("Konten" in German): When trying to add an account the app crashes.
I am fine with the rest ... it works far faster than with Froyo.
Is there a way to get accounts/"Konten" work again? Probably by finding it in the Titanium backup and taking the old app or by (re)installing some working .apk?
At the moment I am still very new to this topic ... until last week I still believed in the myth having bought an "unmoddable" device.
I'd try CM7, too ... but if it's possible to have it done with "ms2ginger" I'd at first prefer trying it that way.
Any suggestions?
CU,
Mészi.
after trying cm7, i really prefer MIUI Rom on A953 !
but Cyanogen team will soon release a 2.3.7 Rom ... so we'll see !
Switching from MS2Ginger to CM7 Nightly
Sorry, if it appears to be a dumb question. But at the moment I am still very new to this topic and want to avoid bricking the device by forgetting a thing when switching from "MS2Ginger 1.1" to some CM7 ROM...
When reading the installation steps of the nightly build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778)...
*START copy&paste*
[How to Install]:
1. Download all in one update.zip
2. Make sure you have CWM3.x/4.x working. Or download from here.
3. select all in one.zip then apply update.
4. double wipe(if you are coming from previous CM7 version,just wipe cache/dalvik)
5. For CWM4.x, reboot and done.
For CWM3.x, download fixed-sbf and flash it. Then done.
*END copy&paste*
...it's not plain to me if I needed to switch back to the official Froyo or if "updating" with the all in one.zip and wiping the data would be sufficient to get rid of the previous "MS2Ginger". :-/
Any recommendations?
CU,
Mészi.
Do you try with "RSD Lite" software to put the stock Rom ?
and then you do the update to the custom rom ... no brick with this method i think ! but i'm not expert sorry !

That's the question.
If it's not necessary I'd directly load the CM7 ROM using CWM.
But, anyway: As long as I can access the boot loader (PowerOn + Cam + VolDown) I could still revert to the official Froyo if updating to CM7 directly would not work.
I think I just give it a try...
CU,
Mészi.
exactly ... i was afraid last friday while updating my stock rom for MIUI ... my battery goes out !
all day i was thinking that my lovely Milestone was bricked ... but with "rsd lite" i re-install my original froyo ... and then i could re-root it and put the miui version !
last version is perfect ! just the problem of keyboard layout but there is a script who put it back to azerty ...
have a good luck for your update !
++
So you would recommend downgrading to the official Froyo at first? *somewhat confused* :-/
Sent from my MB953 using XDA App
... i don't really know ... just said that for me that was the only way to rescue my bootlooping m2 !
normaly you can update from any rom, just don't forget to clear cache, "dalvik cache" too (don't remeber the name) ...
the best is to do a factory reset before rebooting too ... but it's not always necessary ... from miui 1.09.23 to miui 1.10.8 i don't have to do it ...
they don't talk about it in the related post of your rom ?
Ok, thx. I am gonna just try it wiping the cache and overwriting the ROM. ROM switching is not relly described in the MS2Ginger HowTos. *g*
Will post my results here...

Problems with CM/ Nightly
Hi there,
I am half-way about to throw it away again.
I installed EndlessCM7_20111001_Nightly_BPSW_v1_0.zip and then EndlessCM7_update_from_111001_to_111004_v1_5.zip and it appeared to work fine.
But I had to recognize an instable Market app, WiFi cannot connect to my access point and the camera app crashes reliably after starting it.
I will post this in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778 too hoping that these are known issues with known solutions on it.
If anyone of you knows I'd be glad if you threw some suggestions at me.
CU,

O well....
For me, MIUI is workind perfectlly, without any problems.
And, my battery life increased alot with the latest build of it
So i would recommend it.

So yesterday i flashed this CM7 build cm72-111212.1201-NIGHTLY-Defy+.zip and today i was going to take a picture just to find out that my camera force closes everytime i try to launch it.Any solutions for this?

No one knows? I tried reflashing and that didnt work...When i try to run it i get camera(process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly and force close button.BTW my battery stops charging at 88%,anyone knows whats up with that?
I suggest flashing a new CM7.2 Nightly build for defy+

and AL's posted Defy+ fixes for camera and battery etc http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21875699&postcount=15069
I flashed this over a stock Defy+ 2.3.4 4.5.1-134_DFP-74
Thanks for your reply i always thought i had the latest one since it was the first on the list...well i gotta pay more attention to dates

defy plus
Hey,
Even i have a defy plus with 2.3.4 rom...and kernel 2.6.36.9 ....planning to flash the latest defy plus nightly.....
I have rooted and installed 2ndinit and took a nandroid backup of my rom sucessfully.....so whats the next step??
Do i need to install anything else before installing the defy plus nightly??
And what are the features it enables??
Does it provide 720p video recording and playback??
Newbie here. please help.
Thanks.
if you installed 2ndinit and booted to CWM-recovery ... and you already have a nandroid backup of your device, you only have to install the zip from sdcard and you are ready to go (maybe you need to flash fixed-sbf with the kernel for cm7) ...
hi ganesh0992,
slstr above has given good links regarding flashing CM7.2 on defy plus. I am running the same build of CM7.2 cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+. you should follow those instructions and don't forget to apply battery/camera fix.
720p capability is not supported in this ROM by default, you will need to apply a different patch, i don't know if one exists for CM but there is one for STOCK rom and another rom (mginger), google it. (CANT POST LINKS NEW USER!!)

Hi there, I've successfully rooted my Wildfire A3333. You can welcome me to the gingerbreaders.
But, I've made a mistake. I've installed Google Apps for Android 4.1.3, since I couldn't find older versions (which, of course, I've found right after I've finished the installation on the phone), while the version of Android is 2.3.7 (CM 7.2.0 -buzz). My bad.
Is there any way to fix this and put the right version on GApps?
I've tried installing the RUU (RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_C_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_141106_signed if that can be of any help) but the installer says the HTC is not connected, which is untrue. And I didn't forget to check the USB debug on. I was meaning to put the clean ROM again on it but didn't work...
Thanks in advance for your replies.
[EDIT] Probably I've posted in the wrong forum, please excuse me for that and move the topic as you wish.
