Our Transformer section is starting to get a bit messy and fragmented so I thought I'd post this and gather the useful info into one place, making finding what you want a bit easier/faster. As the Transformer is a relatively new device the threads are in their infancy, but will grow with the help of you, the community.

Update:
Known fault with a certain model of charger. Info HERE.
Known fault with the dock. The dock will continue to drain it's battery when docked. If the battery inside the dock drains empty you may no longer be able to recharge the battery. For users with early dock units. Info HERE.
**In order to avoid any problems in the future due to charging, Asus recommends you charge the dock and the tablet, via the mains adapter, seperately.**
**Also do NOT leave it plugged in overnight. There have been too many people saying their chargers or docks no longer work after doing so, so the simple answer is, don't leave it plugged in for that long. It only needs about a 3hr charge max for the tablet part. The dock will take longer though.**

If you have a device that has a serial number starting with B7 take note (You can find out by looking at the bottom of your tablet near the power slot on a sticker) you may not be able to root your device with older root methods. Some B7 devices have a differently locked bootloader (and secure boot key) in comparison to previous models. Info HERE. This also means you might not be able to fall back on NVflash to unbrick if something goes wrong. You can run THIS test to find out. Be careful. More info HERE.

Good work mate, should really fix up this mess. There really needs to be a Q/A section on the main page where you select the area you want to go. Gets really annoying when people ask the same questions countless of times. Hopefully this thread gets stickied.
Looks like the start of a very informative thread. Keep it up!
Heh cheers. Unfortunately people are being a bit slow making good threads. I'd like to see an FAQ section too. Along with a nice rooting guide, a custom ROM's roundup guide, etc.

good work, should help with some clutter on the forum
The best way to organize the definite information is in the wiki. The forum is great to find out the unknown information and to help each other. Once I got a transformer (what might take some while depending on asus), I'll start filling up the wiki for the transformer. I like to test out stuff before I write it out. But don't hesitate to start filling the wiki without me, you can't do anything wrong and you will only help a lot of people!

I think as long as you have the entire route cached, the speech should be available. End of the day, it's just a text-to-speech app.

Thanks for your tips. After reading a different thread on xda, I did the following. I mixed 50% alcohol rub with 50% water and poured it into a small zagg sprayer that came with a zagg screen protector for my phone. I sprayed it on the screen and then used a microfiber cloth and it clean it quiet nicely.
I wouldn't spray the screen - I dampen the cloth, wipe the screen down, and then dry it off with another cloth. I think it's too easy to get liquid into the guts with sprays. - sheureka
A mixture of 10% Vinegar to water is fantastic for cleaning screens, I use it on laptops, LCD monitors, TV's etc. Just dampen a microfibre cloth with the solution and gently rub the screen in a circular motion, then do the same with a dry bit of the same cloth.
I spotted a good cleaning tip on a different board: Put a tiny dot of washing up liquid on a lightly damp cloth. Works an absolute treat, and gets rid of fingerprints very easily.

Inspired from members' aging x1 and SESC full of crap... I'm gladly introduce you this full guide that isn't supposed to be exposed. But IMHO, it is supposed to be known by X1 owner.
I think every X1 headset is out of warranty now. While Sony Ericsson Service Centre is always full of crap, bringing broken X1 is absolutely not good idea.
They will asking "faithful" price sometimes the price is higher than the phone itself. Shame on Sony Ericsson.
So please read this guide before you bring your phone to SESC or any Service Centre.
NOTICE: However I'm not responsible to anything. SO take on your own risk!

Additional Fixing COMMON ISSUE GUIDE
(thanks to Hkt, triondave, mymailx and russell.eclair (aka rx.eclair)
Taken from local forums and some from XDA-Developers, it's weird some of these methods are never been shared to here...
1. Broken Flex Cable
Diagnose:
a. When slide out, the digitizer (touchscreen panel) isn't working (screen might be working).
b. When slide out, the screen goes blank
c. The mic and front camera buzzing
Repair:
a. FIRST Aid, (It's temporary and somehow fail if you are not skilled, in unkown way)
First method "Tape Patching",
- You can also apply this method preventing this problem while you like using the XPERIA X1 keyboard.
- As easy as ABC, just put insulator tape on the scratch side of flex cable -see blue rectangle with red 'X' inside.
- You may put on another side but it will give a hard slide-out.
Second method "Arc Manipulator", (it's working)
- Try this when you are failing from the first method.
- You can make a very thin plastic with a proper size -see black rectangle with red 'X' inside- and the thick of the plastic should not be thicker than half height of left compartment -see gray rectangle. (I use broken Lego, about 2-3 mm thick and 1x2 cm large)
- Glued it as close as possible to the edge of the 'arc' flex cable -see yellow line.
Explanation: So even the flex cable being retracted while the slider out, the position of 'arc' flex cable is manipulated as closed slider flex cable position. You've got to be sure that the thick of the plastic will not make the flex cable out of the housing so for assurance, try to move the slide locker upside down several times -see gree rectangle.

Click to collapse
b. Replace with new flex cable
- search on eBay is the cheapest price. In my country, the price is usually half than local shop but need to wait several weeks.
- After buy the replacement, see the guide to assembling your phone above
How long will it last?
- It's various based on how often you slide it out
Prevention:
- refer to point a.1 (isolate the flex cable) might be useful
- slide it out smoothly (because every time you slide it out roughly, the flex cable being tracked)
- Never / once upon time to slide your X1 out.
2. Unreponsive keyboard
It's very easy to repair it...
[Tutorial] Cleaning X1 Keyboard (Disassemble)
NEVER! follow the threa that is started by hatlo0or, because it is just horrible for beginner and offensive word for some person.
3. Scratching Housing
There's no other way to make it as new, replacing the houding is quite cheap right now. I found that the price varies from 12 to 70 USD.
Which one to buy?
I bought 3 housing for me myself and 1 for my friend.
* I compare those, priced arround 12 USD is better built than priced arround 20 USD.
** the 12 USD is fitted well and the chrome is shinner than 20 USD, the 20 USD Priced is not fitted and quite tricky to assembling it.
*** However the arround 70 USD is the best because it's complete. The housing with 12 and 20 USD have no keyboard but the 70 USD is quite good with keyboard.
Now I am using the keyboard and backplate from the 70 USD priced housing. but for front case and rear case, I used from 12 USD priced housing. As soon as, bought a leather case to prevent it from scratching...
Update!4. Unresponsive Volume Key
Okay, it has been long time that I've been vacuum. After 2-3 years, my X1 has been so terribly damaged. Now, I'm gonna share something else to you all. I dunno know how much people will be helped by this thread since only 20 persons who give comment while 8000 eyes (2x 4000 ppl) read this. But who care? so far there's noone complain.
To be honest, I finally buy another brand new XPERIA X1 from local shop (old stock) with great price because my X1 is what I called "un-help-able"LOL. The problem is unresponsive volume key.
First time, I think it is caused by faulty button but I don't find it wrong after checking up. And after several days' analysis, I found that it is caused by something on motherboard (but I could not determine which one, someone know?). However, the solution is just put something (paper, clip with thickness less than half milimeter) over the USB port (there's a slight gap between the housing and USB port) so it will push down the USB Connector (and Mother board), for unknown reason, your volume key back to normal.
I'm surprised that there are still ones who use X1 since the only person I know using this X1 in my city is me... lol
I just love X1 unfortunately death Sony Ericsson just like White Star Line who make Titanic for becoming so weak.
Thanks for sharing and the credit ;-)
looking good, hope it will be kept up to date
stuck it for the time being

It is named aas digitizer not touch sensor.
It's tricky if you want to separate those parts.
You need only:
1. Micro- scissors (No idea how to say it in English) but razor blade is okay (I always used my husband's)
Just very careful to slide between the display and the digitizer or it might break your LCD as well.
Suggest you to search on youtube maybe there's no tutorial about how to replace X1 digitizer but there's a lot tutorial how to separate 'em on other models.
Just watch and learn from those videos. After you have courage, just try it. But I won't take any responsible for you acts. Because everyone's skill is different, I have no idea on yours. One advice from me is be patient and don't execute any acts until you are really sure on what you do.

Thanks for the extremely useful guide mate!
thanks as the aging X1 will surely need this.
Nice guide, but i still with the volume/keyboard problems...
Like some others, i have traced the proble to the motherboard, but i can't find the real cause... I think, it might be some cold solder or a faulty ground connection (this may explain why if you push the usb connector, the keys start to work again)

Hi guys.
I have an old SE X1 lying around. The keyboard was not working properly, so I sent it in under warranty, but they sent it back saying I had physically damaged the screen, so my warranty was void.
When I got it back it wasn't even switching on, so I opened it up and found 2 small components broken off the mainboard. I don't know what they were but I've taken a photo of their locations, so if someone opens their phone, could they tell me what they were? It would also be brilliant if you could measure their values. I want to try soldering some replacements on...
I can't post the link to the image as an image, so I'll link it here:

I'd love to get this thing working again, I miss it.

Hey XDA!
[This is my first thread, so please excuse any abnormalities you may find here. Corrections/ help would be appreciated. Thanks!]
As tech has progressed in the last couple of years, I have come to replace my beloved nexus 10 with my ever-more-powerful LG G2.
This transition is soley because of spec enhancements in recent devices, but very recently I realised what a horrible waste of an amazing (and still somewhat powerful) device that is, and I'd decided to do something about it. So, I shelled out a few of my Great British pounds (less than £5) and bought myself a microHDMI cable, and a USB OTG cable. I found an old USB keyboard, USB mouse and powered USB hub (not sure if it's necessary to have a powered one, but its all I have to hand), and got going on my small project.
[TL;DR: Ive got an unused nexus 10 laying around and a few other PC peripherals, as well as a microHDMI cable and decided to start a little project]
I realized the nexus 10's potential because of all of the useful (and more importantly- seperate) ports it has:
- MicroHDMI out for a monitor/TV (not necessary)
- MicroUSB port w/ support for USB otg
- Pogo pin port for charging, so battery is not an issue.
All of these things together can be used for a portable android- powered PC! So I plugged in all of my cables, and thought I'd be ready to go, but of course, that would be too easy.
Things that worked:
- USB otg cable and respective devices (keyboard, mouse, 16gb USB stick)
- MicroHDMI video out (sorta)
- Pogo pin charger
Things that did NOT work:
-MicroHDMI video out (screen size/ratio/density)
-MicroHDMI audio out
-Easy usability (phablet-style stock ROM does not like mice.)
Fixes/ work arounds:
1. MicroHDMI audio out:
This was probably the easiest (and therefore first) fix. I remember reading on another forum about the same issue, and it is easily resolved by turning the nexus 10's volume all the way down before plugging the MicroHDMI cable in. Worked first time, like a charm. However, in some cases this does not work and may require flashing another ROM, I personally reccomend cm10.2's most recent stable rom, as it is exactly what I am using. (if you are looking for the same outcome as me, this rom maybe a requirement anyway)
2. Ease of use:
This part did require flashing a new ROM. I used CM10.2's stable build, and banks GApps. Other supported ROMs are listed in the thread linked in this "2. Ease of Use" section. I used the flashable zip file listed in this thread: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451956 ), to change from the mouse-unfriendly phablet ui, to the mouse-friendly tablet UI. This made the nexus a lot more useable as an android desktop/portable PC.
3. MicroHDMI video out:
This is a little more awkward, but it is still relatively easy and do-able. I did a little searchng and found this post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294786&page=3/#25 ) which links to an apk specifically made for fixing this purpose. I downloaded and installed the app (Named something like ScreenRes I think - the exact name escapes me) and checked the box which said "Resize the screen when HDMI state changes" and used these settings for a 39" 1080p screen:
- Screen height: 1080
- Screen width: 1920
- Screen density: 280
Unplugged and re-plugged the cable, and voila!
PLEASE NOTE: This apk does require root access, and I have ONLY tested it on the CM10.2 stable build. This is the ROM I reccomend for this project/purpose. Also, dont forget to thank sbradymobile for his easy-to-use app!
The end result? A very useful android PC attatched to a beautiful 39" display bringing new life into my once-dying nexus 10. It's a shame to replace the beautiful screen on this thing, however with a cheap tablet/phone stand you can take tablet away with you and a keyboard and mouse without loosing any settings, files or convenience for a more portable android PC. Granted, It's not the most beautiful looking thing, but with a little cable management tou can make a neat and tidy android PC set up.
This is particularly good for productivity (e.g with apps such as kingston office, or- creating threads like this on XDA ) as well as media consumption, for things such as movies and with apps such as cheapcast or droidmote you could make a nice mid-point between a chromecast and a fully fledged laptop/PC.
Sorry for such a long post, I just wanted to share this idea as even though I'm sure there are others similar to this, I think there are other people like me finding their tablet being used less and less.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts and questions below! Thanks!
Sorry for the long post
Just a minor suggestion. When an OTG cable and the pogo plug are both connected the pogo plug does not charge the N10. Do not believe the charging notification as it shows charging which is false. There is no ROM for the Nexus 10 which can correct this issue.
As you mentioned a powered USB hub in your configuration then purchase a OTG Y cable so that one end goes to an OTG device as usual a normal M/F USB cable goes from your Y OTG cable to a powered port on the USB hub. It will only trickle charge but that is better than using battery only.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks! Ive realised this and will ammend the post soon. This is a little annoyance however as the nexus 10 has a rather good battery life I can use it till I'm done and then put it on charge with the OTG removed
Hey everyone, I just made a device for my nook that allows me to "sit back and enjoy" my book with my hands free (nearly free)
This was my chance to be a little useful on this board for once, so here is the detailed article about it, I hope you enjoy it.
spoiler : if you do what I did you actually get to bypass the matrix using a phone
I hope this link pointing to my own blog is not against forum rules by the way, please tell me if it's the case and I'll fix it.
Cheers

Nice work! You're even lazier than I am.
I have a foot pedal set up like that using a scrounged keyboard.
I use the PAGE_DOWN codes (which wasn't formalized until after our Android 2.1).
I didn't bother tracing out anything, besides, I only had the tiny PCB itself.
I just ran a shorting wire over stuff until I saw the right keycode on UsbMode.
You may have noticed already, we need to do some work on getting USB host mode to use less current.
Right now, it uses a lot, between 50 mA and 150 mA.
That's a lot, considering that the idle current is less than 10 mA.
Haha thanks I knew you must have built something along those lines already!
The foot pedal was on my list too, did you build the pedal yourself or did you use something?
Yes I did notice the drain... That's really a shame, I was shocked to see my nook completely drained after one night on host mode (I forgot to set it back to peripheral)
Which takes me to a question I planned to ask you
Do you know if it's possible to charge the nook while in host mode? it would solve the drain problem for me, but that would probably be too good to be true...
EDIT : just found that :

Oh it's an ugly and hasty modification of the original one (first picture in my post) I basically cut off the hinge, put an elastic band between the two remaining parts (you may have noticed it holds and bent the end of the the pincers (if that's the adequate word)
it's ugly but it does the job for now. I'll try to make up something more elegant later (probably involving rubber and claws to make use of the indents, I tried that before to fasten my book LED to the nook and it works well)
Thanks for your advice on the back powered hub, I think I might modify one later but for now I'd like to add power to this particular build (trying to keep it simple) I tried to tap into the Vcc and GND of an USB cable connected to my computer, while it charges the nook in "peripheral mode", no luck with the host mode... So I can't use my remote and charge the nook at the same time
Am I doing something wrong? what are your settings you use with your hub (should be the same right?)
...by 'proper', I mean 'standalone'!
Basically the same as my old Vapirius AX (similar to Rock/Z1) that I've used daily for 2 years, but much cheaper and runs Android 4.1 and it has 320x240 2'' screen and not the square 240x240 1.5'' style of most watches which I can't get on with.
I'm going to order it and check it out. .
Nothing to lose at that price!

Wearable Smart Phone Watch AN1 2.0" Touch Screen Android 4.1.1 w/ Camera / Wi-Fi - White + Silver - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
Looks like the Neptune Pine...
The AN1 Reviewed (I Think Comprehensively)
Here's what you need to know about the watch, which I've used for several days. It's more a sweet novelty than a gadget of genuine use. But it works. It's basically a mini-tablet phone (or phablet) and functions via the exact same Android protocols, except the master controls are hard, physical buttons built into the left and right sides, rather than soft touch-buttons on or below the screen. And of course the interface is configured to adapt to the tiny size. Yet at two-inches, that screen is a bit big for comfort if you like wearing the watch face on the inside of your wrist (which I do). So I sometimes rotate it to switch position.
Touch sensitivity seems excellent, as well as touch accuracy, which is hugely important given the minuscule QWERTY keyboard that pops up when you need to enter text. Unlocking the startup screen is frustrating at first until you figure out that you have to swipe the icon up or down, not to the side, as on bigger screens. There's no icon or hard control to access the active-apps screen (from which you can toggle back and forth between active apps and turn running apps off); as on certain larger phablets, you get to it by long-pressing the home screen button.
Because the AN1 is small, its WiFi receptivity is modest (the signal is strongest the closer you are to the source). So's volume but it's not bad for the size. You won't hear much through the earphones except in relatively quiet places, unless you have a separate sound booster; but in quiet places it isn't bad. However, it's impossible to attach the earphones one-handed; at least it is for me: You have to hold open the protective soft plastic flap that covers the mini-USB port (which is where they attach), which means you can't wear it while setting that up. That said, the AN1 will also transmit to Bluetooth headsets. And video/audio playback is very smooth. Even impressive, all things considered. Not a gamester, so no idea how gameplay would go. But with a two-inch screen, why would you want to?
Believe it or not, eBook reading is also a very decent experience in either the page or landscape aspect, though for simple eye-to-text positioning, page view works best if you take the watch off and operate it two-handed. In landscape view, though, you can make like **** Tracy. The only reading app I've tried so far is Amazon Kindle, but every feature seems to work per normal. Whatever normal is at that size.
No problem with the phone detecting a SIM card or storage-expansion microSD card (I added the 32G max, which costs all of $10 on eBay). But the cards are tricky to insert, because the lock flaps that secure them in place are so flimsy. However, once they're in, they're in. And insertion of the expansion card is critical, since the Internal Storage provided is write-protected; you won't be able to download (via internet) or sideload (via computer) files or apps without providing extra storage.
The battery is built into the back cover. Comes the time when it no longer holds a charge, one would need a replacement cover. I assume those are available or will be made so eventually.
There's no Playstore app included; plus it's futile to sideload-and-install Playstore from another source, since the app quits as soon as it boots. There is instead the HiMarket app, whose store features mostly Chinese text; but if you know the apps you want/need, you can still enter a search in English and find them -- most of the time. Sideloading and installing other apps also seems to work -- most of the time.
And oh, yeah -- in the "Good safety tip, Egon" department -- don't wear the AN1 (or any other Android watch of similar concept) in inclement weather. With an exposed speaker grille and exposed miniUSB access port (the protective flap doesn't fit snugly), not to mention hard buttons that aren't part of the case proper, bringing this out into very moist air or, worse, active precipitation, would be like putting your iPad in a filling toilet tank to see how high the water has to go before it fries.
Not encountering anything much in the way of buggyness yet. All in all, the AN1 does precisely what it claims to do. And for the conversation-pieceness of it, and frankly, the satisfaction of my curiosity, I'm happy to be an owner. It won't collect dust. But it's not for the customer looking for significant enhancement of his electronic life beyond what he already has.
Thanks for the review.
Also been using the AN1 for a couple of weeks and fairly impressed, but then I've been wearing a similar one for a couple of years and have only that and a conventional phone to compare it with.
Confused what you say about the battery; my AN1 has a battery on the back that can be detached and changed by pressing a small recessed lug/clip. The battery is the same as the old Z1/Rock/Vapirius so is readily available. Are you sure your battery is non-removable?
Also, as it's rooted - although Superuser is not installed - all current Play Store and Google services, sync adapters etc can be side loaded into system/apps, changing permissions the usual way. I am running all the latest Google App stuff now, but you're right about the Chinese Market and I removed it immediately along with anything Baidu related.
My only mild criticism of the watch (I can live with the floppy USB port cover as most mobile phones have no cover whatsoever) is the screen, not the digitizer which as you point out is responsive and works well, but the outside screen. It's scratched badly already and cleaning it makes it even worse. It's almost like a bad plastic. My other smartwatch has been used every day for two years and the screen still looks brand new without protection.
Lesson is get a good screen protector BEFORE even touching it! Although is fairness, the scratches don't really show when the screen is powered.
The sound can be tweaked in the engineering settings (I've forgotten the number/symbol sequence to access those settings right now) and I have managed to get it sufficiently loud to annoy other people listening to a phone conversation.

No. The AN1 is running 4.1.1. The older Vapirius watch I mentioned is running 2.1.
with the z1 smartwatch / Vapirius they stopped with the clean rom I would like to see a custom rom for this :fingers-crossed:
I found this clone of Galaxy Gear and it's even cheaper at $85.99 !?

And a review for it:

Wasn't the Galaxy Gear a fail.

For $85.99 you get: +$15 delivery to UK
8MP Camera
Android 4.2 OS
Thickness is about 8-9mm
MTK6572 Dual core processor, 512M RAM+4G ROM
350mAh Battery
E-Compass, Direction, acceleration, temperature, pressure, ambient temperature and linear acceleration sensor
Not bad. I wonder if its splash proof?
** More importantly, can you use Play Store? Anyone? **

This isn't a Play Store compatible device. Also, looking at the pictures, the apps are proprietary.
Some Android devices, especially Chinese ones that I've used, Google Services aren't installed and have been done so manually in order to get all the Android features.
This isn't one of them.
I can give the firmware for the AN1 if someone would like to make a custom rom.

Shame hey.
All those sensors are useless if there's no app for it.

They've caught on to a great idea, but it seems pretty pointless as said before. Hopefully there will be some improvements in the (less expensive) range of android wear.

Details on how to load all the Google stuff onto the AN1 and most other similar Chinese devices are here (reply#7):
http://linuxslate.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1399895851
These are the steps:
Here are my instructions for putting all the correct Google Play stuff and thereby having a full non-Chinese Android. Remember to totally uninstall all the Chinese Market and Baidu.
Download the files from here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/56ppcal1t9dwm6g/AACubjVgwQIcFjVv0_wvo05na
1. Use Root Explorer
2. Copy GoogleServicesFramework.apk, GoogleLoginService.apk and Google_Play-v3.8.17.apk to the system/app folder on your phone with Root Explorer.
3. In Root Explorer click Mount R/W. Change the permissions of the 3 files to match the permissions of the other files in the folder rw-r--r-- (6-4-4). Then click Mount R/O and exit Root Explorer.
4. Install GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter and GoogleContactsSyncAdapter the usual app way.
5. Reboot your phone. Hard reset is not necessary.
6. Go to Accounts & Sync in your phone's settings, click Add account and enter your Google/GMail account details.
7. Go to your apps and Launch Google Play.
8. Update any Google stuff from Play Store if prompted.
I'll do a vid of this sometime.
Good luck!
Marcus
Thanks for the info.:good:
AN1 Battery Clarification
Hey, Marcus -
Sorry to take so long to reply.
When I said the AN1 battery was non-removable, I meant that the back of the AN1 watch IS the battery, for all intents and purposes, and is the battery housing, not a mini-case into which a battery could fit. Yes, as you say, it's removable via the lug-clip and that gives you access to the card slots. But I didn't know one could buy a replacement; the lug-clip architecture is so specific to the watch build that I thought an AN1 battery replacement would have to be sold as a locked-to-the-model accessory. (Well, until today; trolling around eBay I saw a Z1 battery/back panel replacement for sale and kind of assumed it would fit the AN1. But it was $39 which struck me as high, so I didn't purchase. I'll do a broader search for Z1 replacements now, though. If you know of where they can be gotten cheaply, chime in.)
No Real Need for Rooting
By the way ...
Even though the AN1 isn't Play Store compatible, I've been able to load everything on it that I need. I either find direct links to download the APKs desired, or APK store links that bring me to the APK. In any event, sideloading from my computer is easy, then I just use File Manager to open the apps. If the apps don't work, I uninstall them. Most of them do. And there are so many choices that you can eventually have it doing everything you desire of it. (Beasr in mind, it's not really practical to install anything too unique or fancy on the watch because of its screen size; it's best for basic utilities that let you play videos, read books, manage calendar data, email, facebook, etc. And it does all that handily. Sometimes not with apps that work on your larger Android devices; but it doesn't take much time at all to find something that'll do the job as well in miniature.)
Q&A for Tegra Note Discoveries
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Tegra Note Discoveries. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
I think I read through this entire thread a couple of days ago, but dont think I saw this little 'Gem' posted here.
I saw somewhere (maybe this thread) the multi-click enabling of some kind of Diagnostics function when
you multiple click on 'Settings/About Tablet/Kernel version', and you get the diagnostics dialog (much
like enabling Developer by clicking on Build number).
The new (at least for me) is multi-click on 'Settings/Android Version', and you get a little easter egg, first time I
did this I got some kind of game (I think, I dont play games), 2nd time, I could not remember what additional
things I did to get into it (there is something after the red screen).
OK, got back into the game screen again but still not sure how, you've gotta click about the screen at random.
Mobile Network setting missing?
My friend just received a Tegra Note P1640 Advent Vega running Android 4.4.2. It's stock, not rooted at all. She wants to hook up her Sierra 313U USB modem so she can get on the net with it, but for some reason Mobile Settings is missing from the SETTINGS app.
I know that this Tablet does not have a SIM card slot, so maybe that's why it's missing. But hopefully there is some way to activate it again without having to root it.
Here is what is listed under Wireless and Networking:
Wifi
Miracast
Bluetooth
Data Usage
MORE
And this is what is under MORE:
Aeroplane Mode
VPN
I found this app in the Google Play store, but that is only a shortcut. So if that Mobile Network setting is not activated, I doubt it will work, or will it?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=diewland.settings.mobilenetworks&hl=en
What do you suggest? Is there any way we can access the Mobile Network settings so she can use her Sierra USB modem without having to root it?
Tegra Note 7 Hardware Teardown Tutorial
I have been looking on the internet for quite some time now but I have not found a sequence of images or video tutorial on how to disassemble a Tegra Note 7. I only found one post on the XDA forums by member "e8hfff" that said "Tegra Note Openned" but with no images visible. Could someone provide some insight on how to properly disassemble the table?
The reason I am asking is that my TN7 is past warranty and the battery has sadly seen its last days. I have enough knowledge about Lithium Ion (smart and dumb) batteries and the confidence to fix my issue, but I am uncertain how to properly take apart the tablet, not wanting to risk damaging the components. Any advice from someone who has done this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just as bschles above, I too would like to request info on Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 disassembly.
I've managed to insert my SD Card incorrectly and cannot remove it, it is stuck inside the machine with nothing protruding to get a hold of so I cannot remove it. I would like to remove the casing so as to access the card and extract it, in some other thread someone said they can open casing with just their hands, question is 'HOW' ?
I have tried pulling and pushing and squeezing and twisting, all to no avail. With my eyes, I cannot even see where the joins are and so not sure where I should concentrate the effort to separate the case parts.
I have tried searching internet/youtube for any TN7 teardown without any success (although another thread in this forum has several pics of inside of machine) and would be grateful if someone could point at a video link or explicit instructions for
dismantling the case, then I would be able to extract the stuck card and access the data on it. as it is, I can neither remove nor insert for SD card access leaving me a little lost for what else to do.
Perhaps some kind of video submission would not be out of place in a forum dedicated to such a wonderful little tablet.
I'm kinda feeling that my only recourse to access data on SD card is a two pound hammer.
Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Link to above mentioned on-site pics of TN7 internals:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55877787&postcount=7
Further to above:
I finally managed to get the case open.
The join lies about 1mm behind face of tablet, need to squeeze in your thumbnail and zip it around the whole of the machine
where you may hear clicks as the catches are undone.
The end furthest from ON-OFF button will be most difficult and last to release. Take care not to lose the on-off button and
audio up/down rocker as you struggle to free the case back. It took me about 25 minutes (at least) to free the case back
the first time that I finally figured out where to separate it, opened it a further few times in a lot less time.
Unfortunately, once the SD card was removed and re-inserted, it continued to fail to be detected and trying anther card
also failed, so looks like I need a new tablet although I can still continue to use this one without external card.
Anyway hope above may assist someone else if they suffer similar difficulties.
NvCPLSvc problems
I noticed that after upgrading to 5.1, the process "com.nvidia.NvCPLSvc" is constantly on top of CPU usage list, and if I turn on the "Show all ANRs" in developer settings, it shows message that this process (Nvidia Tegra Services) is not responding, killing it helps for a while, but than again, it shows up and system says it's not responding.
After killing this process system works faster, no heating (before this, my tablet reached 42 degrees even if I just listened to music in headphones with screen off...), and games doesn't lag as mush. Also no other crashes experienced by me so far.
