[Q] Battery won't charge with SIM card - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I have run into a strange problem, the battery won't charge with the SIM card in but will if the SIM card it taken out.. I have tried task29 and re-flashed the MAGLDR and cmw but the battery problem still persists. Could it be a radio issue or is it something else?

That is indeed a strange issue. I would've never thought to take the sim card out to get it to charge.
You should flash a stock windows mobile rom and see if it charges then wuth the sim in it. If it does, it must be a software problem. If not, some piece of hardware in the phone is more than likely to be at fault.

I think I fixed the problem, my old radio was "2.15.50.14" and I flashed 2.09.50.29 and it fixed the problem.. Will report later to see if it actually fixed the problem.

Maybe you need a new one

maybe you dont

HELP! x10 keeps on rebooting/restarting with a sim card in!

Hello guys, I am having a problem with my unbranded x10i bought in UK (I am currently using it here in the philippines with a local sim card) . After I did an OTA two days ago, it just keeps on restarting/booting! I have tried the "repair" option twice in the PC Companion software but still no luck.
What's strange though is that when I tried switching the phone on WITHOUT a sim card in, it booted up with no problem (and I checked the build number, it says R2BA020 which probably means the OTA update was a success). I put the sim card back in and the problem came back, it kept on restarting.
What seems to be wrong? Any suggestions on fixing it? I would really appreciate your help guys. Thanks!
Update: I successfully rooted my phone hoping that rooting would solve my issue, but unfortunately it still keeps on rebooting/restarting whenever i put ANY sim card in.
Have you tried using another SIM-card?
yes. I have used different sim cards...
Try flashing back the original firmware.. and make sure the sim card is inside the x10 while doing it. Worth a try..
I have the same problem too and I have just updated my phone to R2BA024 and the firmware version is still 1.6. I have hard-reset so many times and reinstall some many times. The problem still there. I have contact Sony Ericsson customer service and bought my phone to fix. Got it back, problem hasnt been solved. I have waited for 3 weeks for a reply from them and end-up they said they do not have any new phone or spare-parts to fix my phone. Until then, I have contacted them almost 10 times and still no one has the right answer and just keep asking me to wait. They dun even have an exact date when the parts will arrive. I am very piss off now and I dunno what I should do next.
Its the same problem here with me too. Bought the phone from a friend about 3 days ago. was going all good when it just started to keep booting itself. While the sim is inside, it'll restart just as it finishes booting. Without the sim, its fine. I have tried other sim cards too, and format/reset my phone many times but it just isnt working for me anymore. HELPPPP!!!

Is it 32K sim or 64K???
hi techguru, can u tel me wot the diff is between the 32k and 64k sim ? many thanks
ISSUE SOLVED here.
BTW : my sim is 64k.
anyways, i found out that the problem was because of the faulty battery. what i guess is that the voltage couldnt get to the requirements of the phone, and everytime the sim radio (whatever its called) switched on, the phone just turned off.
I reinstalled/repaired my phone many times, GOT the exclamation mark of death one time also, but the phone just didnt turn on.
Later i noticed that the phone would just turn on itself when i attach the phone to the charger, otherwise it wouldnt turn ON. So what i did was just change the battery, and walla, the phone is ALIVE again.
Sim is working, phone is working.
BUT i see some signal losses from time to time, otherwise the phone is good enuff.
FOR me , the change of battery did the trick, I hope it works for u guyz aswell.
Cheers ...

hmmm. sounds interesting. I might try changing my battery. btw, i have tried using both 64 and 32K sim cards but the phone keeps restarting with any of the sim cards in. without both the sim cards, the phone works fine. how much does an x10 battery cost?
here, i get the cheap chinese battery. it isnt expensive, but its working great. almost better than my previous battery.
cost me around 2.5$.
but.. i am still getting lots of SIGNAL DROPS. i dont know why it is happeneing. I tried swapping the battery with the original battery of another X10, but no change. Signal loss is not a battery issue then.
Any idea what it could be ??
Signal loss?
Maybe a weak signal, or radio related?
or maybe its because i updates it to R026 is causing the signal loss issue ??
@techguru
I am also using airtel, but with a 64kb sim.
In my case it does not start.
It start if with no battery or with a 128kb sim of TIM.
I tried to recharge the firmware but nothing seemed to change.
I know that someone solved the problem swithcing off the phone in airplane mode, but this is not the case for me.
I also noticed that in some cases the led is green and is slowly blinking.
I am ready to change the battery if this helps, but I am not sure. Even if I put it under charge it does not switch on and the battery seems not to charge
As I bought the phone only since one day I wonder if they will change it.

Galaxy S cant find sim card

Today i went to the gym, and when i was done and picked up my phone in the locker i needed to call someone. I called but it froze during the attempt to call so i turned the phone off (i could turn it off normally, so i didnt pull out the battery). When i turned it back on i had no signal at all, and went to mobile networks settings to check. I got the message that i had to insert my sim card to edit the settings.
My phone was running JM5 rooted. I tried switching sim card to see if my sim card somehow stopped working during those 2 hours but that didnt help either. I then tried reflashing (now have JM7 on it) and i still have the problem where it wont find my sim card.
Is there anything i can do besides send it to be repaired? I'd prefer not to do that seeing as i really hate waiting for it to come back.
You have probably tried it, but I'd get a cotton bud and clean the contacts both on the phone and the sim card. I've had that happen twice, but not on my SGS.
Yea tried that already.. thx for the suggestion though.
I guess i better hand it in to the repair shop.
I also have this issue with my SIM card, i go to flight mode and return back to normal mode seems to fix the issue ive also cleaned the contacts before and it didnt seem to occur again..

Yeah i have tried that, it's not working either. Tried several different Roms and different modem/radios too. This sucks.
I have the same problem. It started after I flashed JVK on my phone. I thought it was the firmwares fault, but I still have the same problem after flashing JS8. I think I'll be asking my provider for a new SIM. I have a feeling that the SIM might be the answer to our problem

[Q] Sim not found, multiple restarts and then works... ideas?

Morning all, hope you can all help.
I have 2 HD2, one for my partner. And one for me. Both we purchased second hand and have been flashed to android on both.
My question/query is this. One of the phones I have purchased I believe was working fine when I had purchased it. before using it with android I had flashed it with hspl 2.08, a new radio and an energy rom.
It got worse and worse in that as soon as I turn my phone off. It would not always recognise the Sim, it would say sim not found. After a number of restarts the sim would then be seen and it would work flawlessly until the phone is powered off again. The clarity of the calls and the permanent connection once it is running would indicate that there are no loose connections.
We had thought that the issue may be with the sim, so we purchased a new one. and yet the same issue remains with the new sim – which works flawlessly in the other hd2.
I then thought it may have been a radio issue, so I flashed this faulty phone with the same radio and distro as my fully working hd2 – and yet the same fault remains. How annoying!
Im now unsure if the fault is hardware or firmware (as I didn’t task29 before any flashes) but my other hd2 works totally fine.
Do you guys have any ideas of what the fault may be, as im now well and truly, utterly stumped.
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried a sim swop with the other phone to see if the issues carries over?
I have indeed. its only that phone that seems to be affected, no matter what Sim i use/try
task29, wipe all cashes & use more stable ROM

No Service on HD2

I have a really weird problem going on with my HD2.
I've been using it for months normally, but just recently my battery drained to 0%.
I had to buy an external battery charger to get the phone running again, but now something even weirder's happening.
I'll have service for maybe, 5 minutes after flashing a ROM, but I can't send/receive calls/SMS/data.
After that, no service at all.
I tried task29/4 different ROMs, and reflashing the radio. What's next?
happened to me once, i placed the SIM card in reversed lol
anyways, which radio did you use? have you tried those SD ROM versions?
if that continuous it could be an impending board failure

I actually just checked now that you mentioned it... :roll eyes:
Anyway, I flashed 2.15.50.14. for TMOUS.
I haven't tried an SD ROM, I'm using NAND.
I don't know what's going on, and damn it - I can't dish out another $300 for a phone!
if you have magldr you could just drop an SD ROM in the SD & boot it from there
i have the same problem man, look at my post here, i didn't found any solution yet :s i even flashed a stock rom (6.5) but nothing
I have a very clear prediction it's the hardware antenna busted. Getting rid of it, FAST

Sim Card issues. Please help?

Alright so this problem arrives roughly a week ago. I was hoping it'd be gone by now, but nope. Worse than ever.
For reference. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505. Unlocked LTE international version.
Roughly 2 months ago I rooted and flashed the Echoe a kitkat rom v18. I also have Philz recovery flashed....
My sim card keeps disconnecting while I'm not even using my phone. It doesn't even have to be moving. It just happens. I'll get a message from my phone saying that the sim card has disconnected and to restart to fix the problem..... This rarely works, as when I reboot, I get the error of no sim card.... its really started to get on my nerves. I doubt it's the sim card, as there's never been any problems with it. I will take it into my carrier today and have it swapped out for a new one.
I've seen this problem happen to other people on these threads, yet no answer has arrived. I've reset tp factory etc blah blah blah. I've even uninstalled the last 30 new apps I've installed, and the problem has yet to sort itself. I've tried taping the sim card, putting paper on the top and reinserting. Everything. It hasn't had any major drops for about 4 months so I doubt that is the issue. Only time it's dropped is when I drop it onto my bed....
Has anyone else had this problem? Have a fix? I can't stick it back under my warranty as I've flashed the recovery and rom... voids it does it not?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I suppose it could depend on modem vs wrong RIL, but unsure. I had such behavior on my old S2, but fixed it with proper modem/RIL combo. Have you checked your logs in data/logs? How many of anomalous logs you have there?
Tried popping in another Sim card, just to exclude yours?
This happened to me. I was using a cut up full size card, replacing it with a micro sim solved it. I replaced the sim tray anyway just in case it was that. It was 5 min job and the parts like a fiver
Sent from my GT-I9500
So I've replaced the microsim with another microsim (both were originally microsims). .. unresolved. Nothing has happened for the past couple of days until it happened yesterday... now nonstop again. I know it's not the sim because it happened even after I replaced it. It just had a couple of quiet moments. Now I suppose my next try is for replacing the sim tray myself. Fingers crossed. Also. No, I wouldn't know a clue on how to even get my logs. Haven't even thought of it. I'll do that when I next get the problem and am forced to reboot. Thank you.
Okay so I've found something possibly helpful. I've only just noticed that this usually happens when my battery hits 100%. I've removed all apps that tell me my battery info..... I hope that was the cause. I'll update tomorrow.
